Start the UCM 11 g and IBR on Windows Server 2008 when you start the server
Hello
I installed ucm 11g with an inbound refinery on a 64-bit windows server 2008. The AAU and the bovine infectious rhinotraecheitis are supposed to start automatically after the server is running.
1. I put the startWeblogic.cmd and the startNodeManager.cmd in the directory Autostartup. The weblogic and the nodemanager are starting very well in a denial of service console.
2. I tried to start the University Complutense of Madrid with the following startManagedWeblogic of the UCM_Server1 command. Then he asks me a username and password and then, he throws a java exception and the UCM_Server1 will not be started.
The current situation is that the weblogic and nodemanager starts automatically and the UCM_Server1 and IBR_Server1 must be started manually.
What is the usual way to start the AAU automatically? Can we establish some Windows Services?
Greetings
BrahimThe best way is probably a Windows Service. Here's the Oracle documentation on how to do it.
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E12840_01/WLS/docs103/server_start/WinService.htmlYou can also try the Windows Task Scheduler. I heard that this works well (even if a Windows Service would be better).
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/working-Windows-Server-2008-Task-Scheduler-part1.htmlThis post shows how to store your WebLogic login information encrypted on the disk.

Create a Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD for Installation of the EFI
Is there an official method of production of compatible installation media EFI for Windows Server 2008 R2.
I created successfully using a rough method to recreate an iso using the original media and oscdimg.exe set out in a number of unoffical positions elsewhere. However, I ran into another issue that fits the description that is described in the following article.http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/975535
I expected that the fix provided in this article would have been incorporated in SP1 of Server 2008 R2 version, but has been unpleasantly surprised to find that there was still no support. I'm more than happy to include the fix in the media but it seems that the files are identical apart from the creation date.
I have completely updated the firmware of my server to set the server up to EFI Shell Version 2 which I hoped would solve some problems, but this did not help either.
It seems EFI will be the way forward because of size limits of hard drive on startup disks until when can we expect a real sollution?
If anyone has any experience with this issue so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I created a VD to install windows server 08. Readers are attached by the Bay before port hot swap, connected through SAS. Currently, it says that it can't find not all hard drives, I'm sure I need drivers preinstallation of the raid controller for the operating system to detect the drive but I can't find these drivers anywhere on the page list of the driver on http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/poweredge-r820
Anyone know where I can get the drivers? I checked the page twice and I can't find something that even alluded to preinstall drivers.
What RAID SAS controller do you have?
This will cover the H310 and H710 (using the "hard drive" version, run to extract before putting on optical/USB) - found under SAS-RAID/driver:
www.Dell.com/.../PowerEdge-r820
You can also use the deployment/installation embedded utility which can help to install an operating system, that includes drivers - F10 during POST.

HP OfficeJet 6600 e all in one on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
I try to get an e HP OfficeJet 6600 network all in one to run on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. I downloaded the package, which is supposed to work on Windows 2008 x 64. The package is called
OJ6600_Basicx64_1315.exe. When I run it it tells me that it is not compatible with my system. I tried to unzip the file (changed the zip extension) but told me that it is not a zip file. Is there a driver for this printer on that server?Thank you
I thought about it. I copied the CD to the server and just ran the add printer. Installed just fine.

Dear all,
I struggled with this problem for 3 days. I can't connect to windows server 2008 R2 because I accidentally change the active partition of the system partition to another partition whose size is very small (only about 1 GB). When I try to watch through the back, the sequence is all wrong. The previous system partition was becode D c. The other partition which is becoming C f.
I tried to use startrep to fix this, but the problem remains the same.
I also try to use bcdedit /? bootsequence, but because I don't know how to see the partition guid, I can't change the bootsequence.
Can anyone help to open a windows session? Your help is appreciated production. I need it as soon as possible...

License with Windows Server 2008 Guest OS.
Hello
I installed on a host (System Dell R810) vSphere with 24 physical cores with hyper-threading. If I install a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition/64-bit, on the physical hardware, I see 48 processors.
I would like to convert this system into a system in a virtualized with vSphere environment. Assuming that I buy enough licenses VMWare, which is the maximum number of VMWare virtual cores I can refer to various OS comments? Also, if I have the Windows Standard edition, which is the maximum. number of virtualized hearts would be the guest operating system, see?
Also, is there a document describing how licensing works and how things refers to a VMWare deployment.
Thank you.
http://www.VMware.com/download/EULA/multicore.html
VMware licenses is based on the number of Sockets in the box... carrots.
Here is a short breakdown in licensing requirements.
ESXi free-4 core support only.
Software licenses with hearts of six (6) by restriction of processor: vSphere Essentials, vSphere Essentials Plus, vSphere Standard and vSphere Enterprise
Twelve software licenses (12) cores per CPU restriction: vSphere Advanced and vSphere Enterprise Plus
Microsoft licenses - depends on the day: o)
It's your best reference. - http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/E/C/EECF5D44-9A88-43D8-AFDB-D2AB82BE035C/Win%20Server%20Lic%20Book%20customer%20hi-res.pdf
Windows Standard - for each license, you get a single virtual machine.
Windows Enterprise - for each license, you can run 4xVM
Windows Datacenter - you register each Jack in the box (like VMware) - run as VM of this family of products that you can (IE, Windows 2008, Datacenter Edition allows all x Windows 2008 flavours). I'm not positive is a Windows 2008 R2 allows to downgrade to Windows 2008 flavors as well. So I guess.
My recommendation - pony up the money and get data center and then laugh if Microsoft comes audit because you don't care.
SQL 2008 licensing - read carefully - it changes and is confusing. Best to call the Microsoft license program to be positive.
Hardware capabilities
http://www.directionsonmicrosoft.com/sample/domis/update/2008/02feb/0208ws2plp_ch.htm
Limitations of VMware – you can create within a VM CPU 8. However if you need that many cores... rethink its acceptability of virtualization. See #5, and then read it again.
Now, just throw in the standard practices and answering the questions I know you will come back and ask.
#1-non, it has no USB support in a virtual machine. You can't attach an external drive to your VM. Look at the IP/USB devices for the solutions for this.
#2-Si you create a larger hardware RAID array then 2 TB it won't work. Each virtual disk/LUN/table/Container (to use the terminology whaever) needs to be more boy then 2 TB-512bytes (use 1.99 TB to be sure). RDM, also, cannot be greater then 2 TB. In addition, I recommend to use initiator ISCI inside the virtual machine.
#3-la recommendation is to try to stay in the range of 10-20 VMS per VMFS volume (much busy VM can cause scsi reservation issues). He got much better then you can push the limits (wait for RParkers response when he sees it: o))
#4-you can create multiple VMFS volumes and join them together to make a larger VMFS volume. Strongly discouraged
practical #5-bonnes of virtualization - forget what you know about the allocation of resources. Start a Windows 2008 VM with 1 GB/Max 2 GB of RAM and a single processor. ONLY increase CPU/RAM after you have determined you must. Least CPU multiple VM's best for planning
average #6-sursouscription is usually 4-5 WHAT VM by heart, but of course it depends on the load and SMP VM
#7-do not ask solution best backup (of the beginning of war) - your typical responses are going to be Veeam, Vizioncore, esXpress as 3 all with scripts and a few others mentioned (like VDR). Try them all (this way you can get backups and not pay for at least 90 days: o))
#8-don't freak out cause of your VM Windows 2008 allows you to use all of the memory of your host immediately. Until you use all of the memory, the virtual machine will be uuse large pages (which is good for performance). Once that oversubscribe you too far, they will all move to 4 k pages, and your memory usage will drop dramatically. After that, when the memory is the most... you are done... not go further: o)
There are literally hundreds, but if getting vmware these tips here sticky would be we would have probably two times fewer threads and a much higher quality content. Of course, #3, #6 and #7 will probably provoke a debate already. I apologize in advance.

Impossible to install Windows Server 2008 64-bit edition
I'm under ESXi 3.5 on an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200. When I try and install Windows Server 2008 64-bit edition, I get the error that the processor is not compatible. Could someone please help. Thanks in advance.
I withdraw that. Looks like the Q8200 don't have VT - x. As such, it cannot run 64-bit guests. See KB 1901.

logging on to windows server 2008
is it possible to connect a computer laptop windows Server 2008. I want to get the server, but I need to know if it will work and if so, how?
OK and the macbook?
and if the instance of lets say, I installed a program for itunes on the computer 'A' with the user 'josh '.If I go to the computer 'B' and the log with "josh" will I still be able to use the program.and for the 3 laptops that are around the way they will connect.Programs (for the most part) roam with a user in an environment active directory. A few small ones (mobile apps) could be made to do - although since then, you will need to download and upload files of each opening/closing session - there is a trade-off. There are other things you could do with other tools to get there, though.
As to the question I ask - what version of Windows 7 do you have on everything? Is it Windows 7 Professional edition or ultimate edition (if not - you can not JOIN a domain active directory.)
The macbook is possible to 'authenticate' out of the domain active directory - but he won't do all the tricks, windows systems will do. Well enough, you get central authentication. ;-)
A computer windows laptop is no different from a windows desktop computer that Windows itself is concerned. You may need to configure different wireless devices (so you can be connected without having to be connected) or tweak a few other things - but only because you may be using as opposed to wired wireless networks. -
