Shared storage on a Windows Volume Format

Hello, I'm looking for some help on my lab at home. I have 2 ESX hosts and iSCSI cake just to install on a Windows 2003 server that points to its own partition 40 GB IDE. My guests see the iSCSI target without problem, but when I'm working through the add storage Wizard, I get the message, "Unable to read the disk partition information" to the current disk layout screen. I guess it's because the drive is formatted with NTFS on a windows 2003 server. I'm looking for an easy solution that this iSCSI target will be recognized as a place of storage shared by my hosts. I think it needs to be formatted properly, but I don't know what to do. Also, I realize that this isn't a good solution, but I want to test it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums. You set it using a partition or a file as an iscsi target?

There is a great PDF actually explaining how to set up all the necessary steps included in detail:

    Hello

Thank you! All the best. Be careful in choosing to shared storage.

    # If your shared file system accessible via CIFS, SMB or Samba, you may search and/or performance indexing and corruption problems when you use the Verity search engine (not supported in 11g).

    # If your file system shared accessible via CIFS, SMB or Samba, you should disable opportunistic locking (oplocks - data client-side caching) of the file system as it might interfere with the normal operations of Content Server. With solutions for storage network (SIN), the performance of the file system may be closely related to oplocking (data caching client-side), which disables the opportunistic locking can cause performance problems. Please plan your architecture accordingly.

  • External partition problem 'shared storage' AT105

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is exactly, but I can only download and install programs videos on the partition of storage shared my tablet. I have about 2 GB of free space on my internal storage, 3 GB free on my SD card and yet I am limited to the 200 MB of free space f 'shared storage' in settings/applications.
I already tried to switch to Tablet option on all applications, but it shows only 200 MB of total free space of 2.5 GB of shared storage.

My question is, how can I get rid of this partition or how can I download on my memory internal or SD card. No matter what I do, everything I download or install is sent to the shared storage. I have a ton of free space that I can not access.

    Help, please.

Android apps would be installed on internal flash of my knowledge.
You can use some applications like app2SD to move the only app to SD card.
But not all the apps that support.

In addition, the SD card must be formatted in exFAT to write to the SD card

  • Using the odd drive with shared storage

We have deployed a 15-node cluster with shared storage.  When we issue a df - h, we see the root filesystem and / mnt mounted file systems.

We also see the file of each of the other systems the datanodes on the local storage of the each other.  For example...

/ mnt/SCSI-123abc is mounted on the server server01

    / mnt/SCSI-456def is mounted on server02

Under/mnt on the server server01, we also see/mnt/scsi-456def under the root file system, not mounted as its own file system.

Under/mnt on server02, we also see/mnt/scsi-123abc under the root file system, not mounted as its own file system.

Is this a problem of storage configuration, or is this something that the BDE has decided when it deployed?

    Thank you

    Steve

BTW, you can add your script hack or the scripts that I have provided in the /opt/serengeti/sbin/format-disk.py file in the node template, and then after that the empty cluster is created, the mount point/mnt/bigdata1... are there the/mnt/bigdataN.

  • vSphere high availability with no shared storage? And general problems with VMware partner supplier

HA can function without shared storage?

It may not by the availability of vSphere manual.  However the global VMware partner who sold me on VMware solution said that the shared storage is not required for HA.

This is the same guy who told me that I would not need to buy Windows Server licenses because everything was included in the package (vSphere Essentials Plus).  Now, I have no Windows license, no shared storage and a customer who will not be happy that we did not include these costs in the citation for this project.

No.... you need a storage shared for HA.

Maybe your partner speak the vCenter Server Appliance that is included on vSphere Essentials Plus and you can use this device to manage your vSphere, ESXi without need a VM of Windows (with Windows license) to install the vCenter server.

  • Shared storage problem

I did a few tests using Virtual PC on my PC and I was able to lay 2 ESXi gets and a shared stoarage a FreeNas or a virtual NAS Nas4Free-based.

I was able to use iSCSI or NFS data warehouses.

Now I have the possibility to use a HP ML350 host with a lot of RAM running ESXi 5.5 U2 free version.

I can easily create my invited ESXi virtual desktops, but I can't make them use a shared, nor based on iSCSI or NFS storage.

I tried to use 2 vSwitches but (virtual) invited ESXi cannot access NFS shared storage or iSCSI.

My NAS (virtual) seeks to work end e I can access either iSCSI and NFS shares from a Windows virtual machine.

Is there a directive to set up virtual hosts ESXi and/or the vSwitch for shared storage?

I would use a dedicated vSwitch not connected to a physical NETWORK adapter to avoid iSCSI or NFS traffic in my main LAN.

    Should I?

    Concerning

    Marius

The vSwitches to which the ESXi invited are attached must allow the promiscuous mode and forged passes.  See http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2013/11/why-is-promiscuous-mode-forged.html.

  • Dell VRTX + vCenter 5.5 + Shared storage is ESXi host import issue in vCenter. Help, please!

    All,

I have two VRTX to be used for lab purposes that I am currently in configuration.

Blades feature 4 VRTX with a shared storage infrastructure. Each blade has 5.5 installed on ESXi.

I configured the shared on the VRTX storage, and all the blades can go very well.

The question I'm currently facing is when you add the vCenter for managing ESXi hosts.

Add the first host goes without a hitch. However, add any later host fail, because vCenter finds datastore attached hosts to have the same identifier.

The error message is (see the attached screenshot): ' Datastore 'Main Shared-storage' is in conflict with a store of data that exists in the data center which has the same URL (ds: / / vmfs/volumes/xxxxx /), but is supported by different physical storage.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the reply.

I think that I have found a workaround.

First of all, this link does not address my particular issue.

See, it's a whole new vCenter device installation and configuration. Only one of the four hosts to add host has been added.

Still, the problem is that each ESXi host is a blade VRTX (M620), which has access to the data store created on the shared storage of VRTX.

Basically, each host is editing the data store shared even (the only data store created on the shared storage), which works very well except for vCenter complain when you import the hosts.

In any case, my resolution was as follows:

-Add the first host with the attached and mounted data store

-Remove the data store and detach the controller shared by other guests before adding in vCenter

-Re-attach the controller shared and set up the data store via vCenter once guests have been added

-Re-configure each host for vSphere HA if necessary

    Thank you.

  • shared storage

Hi everyone, iam configuration lab and I need shared storage

I want to know if I can share a Director on one of my servers esxi and use it as a shared storage

    mmjaboor wrote:

How to make a server esxi storage shared among other esxi servers

You mean like we use openfile on a windows or linux box to provied storage lun with free space on them, like that on ESXi.

TAT is then not possible. But still, you can create a virtual machine set up all the storage, installing openfile or starwind, from there, you can give access to shared another esxi storage.

    or

    Installing vcenter

    create the cluster

every 2 or 3 esxi, who owns the local data store.

now install vmware storage appliance - through you can make use of all the local data store to be shared across all the esxi.

See the link on vmware storage appliance with vsphere novelty 5 below. :-

  • HA without shared storage

    Hello world

I have a client who requires a HA solution without shared storage.  They are a security monitoring company and regulation requires that it have automatic failover, but the far should not share storage.

I have trouble finding a product that replicates and monitors the ESX Server to ensure automatic failover.  vReplicator is not a function of automatic failover.  VCenter HA and pi both methods require storage share.

We have even looked at the two SAN with replication, but same Site Recovery Manager is a manual failover process.   Not to mention two without 3 virtual machine is just over kill.  The three VM would be very low use, both a Windows and a linux OS.

    Any suggestions?

If you don't want to use a shared storage, you can consider looking virtual storage devices (virtual ISCSI SAN). You can use the internal memory on your ESX host and turn it into an ISCSI SAN. With this, you will be able to use HA...

Learn about FalconStor, Lefthand, Datacore, melody of San...

For replication based on the host also consider taking a look at the latest version of CA XOSOFT

    scrubie,
If you go to programs and features, and then on the left side you should see a link for "Daily display installed."  Which would then show the list of updates with the State which will show you if it failed or not.

    original title: network printers

I'm not able to add a shared printer on a Windows XP client. One, printers

cammot access to a printer by using the UNC path. I can see the shared

printers in Favorites network but I can not connect. If I use the add printer

Wizard to add a network printer, the printer appear in the book: but

Yet once, they will not connect the error message I get is:

"Unable to add the printer connection. Either the typed wsa printer name

incorrctly, or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server. »

I checked the permissions for the priners and I am logged in as one

administrator when I try to add the printer. I also checked the group policy and

everything seems to be oK. I also deleted and added the printer to the

Server, that I managed to install them as local printers on the affected XP machine

using the \\server_name\printer_share_name port. The priner name and the

share name are the same for each printer. They have all worked last week that

network printers. I'm curious to know what is causing this weird behavior. Any

    help would be greatly appreciated.
