Shortcut to open a Web site using a specific browser

I have a couple of browsers installed because of the support of different Web sites.  I need to create shortcuts for opening Web site specific browser.  Can someone advise how to create these shortcuts.  Thank you!

Hi Scott,.

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

Based on the information, you try to set the default browser to open different websites in different browsers using shortcuts.

It is not possible by double clicking on that shortcut will call no matter what default browser is set and site which will open. In order to open different websites in different browsers, you will need to open the browser and type the address to open the site.

Hope the helps of information.

  • Creating a shortcut to open a Web site in IE Tab

I have a little a question rather than a problem. My father uses security cameras which is GUI runs on ActiveX, so I need IE tab to launch the GUI (and it does a great job at it). However, I'm trying to simplify the process for him as much as possible. On his old computer I got a batch file that has ran, had to disable two monitors (old software wouldn't run on two screens) and then launch IE using the full screen to the ip address. On his new computer running W7(old was running XP) IE will not let me log in to the security camera system. So now I basically try to make a shortcut on the desktop that will launch Firefox with IE tab already running IP address. Is this possible?

Hello, you can add an option to the command line for the shortcut of firefox to open the browser on a certain url - right click on the firefox desktop icon, select properties and after the path of the program, add the ip address. then the line should look like:

    "C:\Program Files\XY\firefox.exe" 127.0.0.1

I think also that you can configure ietab to always display some pages in IE, so in combination, you should be able to achieve what you want.

  • Open a Web site with a keyboard shortcut.

    Hello

Is there a way to open a Web site (in a new tab) with a keyboard shortcut.
For example, use Alt + X to open google.com and Alt + V to open gmail.com

    Thanks in advance

One possibility would be to use the PrefBar extension.

This extension allows to set buttons and add a shortcut to the key key.

This is probably the easiest way with a direct URL:

    gBrowser.selectedTab = gBrowser.addTab("<URL>");

You can use a bookmark with a keyword assigned with this code (replace < keyword > with the actual keyword):

    [shortcutURL,postData] = PlacesUtils.getURLAndPostDataForKeyword("<keyword>");
    gBrowser.selectedTab = gBrowser.addTab(shortcutURL);

I used to insert a meta tag, but I don't know how to open a Web site in HTML so that it can be edited.

Hello Carlo, Firefox does not include a built-in Web site editor.

I thought you (1) use an online tool provided by the package of your e-shop, or by your host, for editing files in a browser, or (2) change the files locally and then download (often using an FTP client).

Try renaming the file cert8.db in the Firefox profile folder in cert8.db.old or remove the cert8.db file to remove the intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.

If it helped to solve the problem, then you can delete the renamed file cert8.db.old.
Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the file cert8.db.old to cert8.db to restore previous intermediary certificates.
Firefox automatically records the intermediate certificates when you visit Web sites that send such a certificate.

If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Cannot access a Web site using Java Script

Cannot access a Web site using Java Script. I'm not sure what it blocks I use Win 7, Avast free, AntimalwareBytes.
I get a pop up window with
    Name: mcs
    Location: http://myspeedtest02.windstream.net
say "application blocked by security settings, blocking the untrusted application.
I don't know what it blocks, but suspect it is related to the security of Windows.
I think that the Java Applet is blocked, but I would like to run this test of speed from my ISP.  I tried to access the website of Google Chrome and IE, with the same result. Nobody knows what this block and how to unlock it?

This is actually not JavaScript, it's Java.  Despite the name, they are really very very different.

Java itself can be dangerous, especially if it is not a trusted application.  It is my sincere recommendation that you do not continue.

If you want anyway, you can go into your control panel, open the Java settings and set it to allow untrusted applications.

kindly give me the solution to this problem.

    Hello Katy,.

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

You receive no message error when you say, 'I am not able to open some Web sites?

This problem can occur is a complement of the corrupted browser or due to the incompatibility of the website. We will work together to solve this problem.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Convenience store performance running Internet Explore and check. Please follow these steps:

    a. press Windows + W keys, type Troubleshooting in the search box and press ENTER.
    b. click on 'show all' and then click 'Internet Explorer Performance'.
    c. click 'Next' and then follow the on-screen instructions.

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
Please use the suggestions contained in this Microsoft Knowledge base article and check the issue.

Note: The feature reset the Internet Explorer settings can reset security settings or privacy settings that you have added to the list of Trusted Sites. Reset the Internet Explorer settings can also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the reset Internet Explorer settings. Reset Internet Explorer is not reversible, and all the previous settings are lost after reset.

    I hope this information helps.

  • How to prevent the FF loading all Web sites using the HTTPS protocol

FF is trying to load initially all Web sites using the HTTPS protocol, including of mozilla.org. Then I get the error of no reliable connection of course. Mozilla .org is the "invalid security certificate" and "the issuer of the certificate is unknown." I tried to delete the file cert8.db as suggested elsewhere but that did not help. If there is an option for this somewhere, I can't find it. I have the latest version of FF and Win7 running. Thanks for the help.

There must be some sites that are still using a secure connection, as http://www.amazon.com/. If even a link to Amazon is redirected, you can check if you have an extension like HTTPS Everywhere.

For Mozilla sites, Yes, you establish a secure connection.

But you shouldn't get certificate errors! When you get this for virtually all secure sites, the problem is usually as follows:

    (1) error of date, time, or time zone who throw checks validity of the certificates of your system. Sometimes allowing to use a timesource on the internet, the computers can introduce this problem.

    (2) not be set up to work with your security software that intercepts and filter secure connections from Firefox. Products with this feature include Avast, BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky; AVG has a shield search function which can cause this error on search sites.

    (3) malicious software on your system for the interception of secure connections.

    So... who is?

If you have any of these specific security products, which would be the first thing to check. We might be able to help with specific next steps based on what you have if you tell us.

Alternatively, you can examine the certificate to which Firefox is opposed to see if the issuer information pointing to the culprit. Take for example my test page:

    https://jeffersonscher.com/RES/jstest.php

You should see a section "I understand the risks" in the page. If you expand this section, you will find a button Add Exception. You don't need to complete the process of adding an exception (I suggest not adding one until we know that it is not a problem of malware), but you can use the dialog box to display the information that makes Firefox suspicious.

Click Add an Exception, and then view. If the view is not enabled, try first the button get certificate. Then in the certificate Viewer, refer to the section "issued by". What do you find here, or under the hierarchy of certificates? I have attached a screenshot for comparison of screen.

  • Browser Konqueror for Linux has a CPU limitation function useful for Web sites using Flash content. You can add such a feature in Firefox?

I recently discovered that browser Konqueror for Linux can help the user to limit the CPU usage while visiting a Web site using flash technology by changing the settings in the Flash section and by adjusting the slider settings VERY HIGH to HIGH and AVERAGE and so on. It actually works and it doesn't have a direct impact on the overall performance for flash player, but it can lead to conflicts if other such extensions that add blocker or click-to-flash are also enabled.

Maybe you can add a similar setting in Firefox in the browser or just as a useful addon or extension option section.

    Hi Michael,
I love the sound of that. I found an add on which has Visual for the CPU usage as well as can be useful
