Shortcuts in Menu start don't work (Windows domain)

Hello everyone.

I have a mysterious ailment. The environment is:

-Server: Windows Server 2003 R2 with windows domain

-laptop: Windows Vista SP2

For users in the domain who work on PC Windows Vista shortcuts stored on drive O: location: 'O:\menus\VPoziomD '.

Location: 'O:\menus' is shared on a network.

When the user (eg. "student012d") which is in the 'PoziomD' group connects to Windows Vista PC to the domain:

This site (O:\menus\VPoziomD) is mounted as location of apps from the START Menu (shortcuts).

This is a nuisance. When student012d is logged in the shortcuts do not work. I'm clicking on shortcut but nothing happen.

When I do nothing and wait for a long time, and I come back to this PC, I click on the shortcut and everything works.

What's wrong? Where could be a problem? I have spent 5 days to solve this problem, but without success. :(

It probably isn't a network problem, because I changed my switch to another, but it is not a solution to my problem.

Thank you community. Adam.

  • Out of track in the Menu start flashing in the window that closes then (XP and W7)

I send the output of this command: "ipconfig/all" to a developer to obtain a software license.  When I enter this command in run of the menu start, the output flashes briefly in a window on the screen and then closes.  I can't read the output as it closes so fast.  This has happened in XP and W7 in Fusion (versions 2 and 3).  In Parallels, the window did not close but remained on screen so that I could copy or captures screen information in an e-mail.  Does anyone have a work around for this?  Is this a bug of merger?  Thank you.

It is certainly not a question of Fusion.

What you need to do is type 'cmd' in Start Menu Run which will create a terminal window.

Starting from that, windows command "ipconfig/all".

Finally to complete it type "exit".

    Hi Thomas,

Apologize for the delayed response. Your efforts are very much appreciated!

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool is another great tool that helps you fix the corruption of system files that may be causing the problem. Refer to the following steps to run the tool.

    (a) press the Windows key + X, click prompt (Admin).

    (b) type the following commands. Press enter after each command

    • DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    • DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    (c) close the command prompt.

    This system is running?

I guess there is some kind of problem in the system and I think you should check if a common troubleshooting system allows you to remedy

First of all I recommend you to check if you can assign to the OS to the point of time at the beginning by using the Windows backup and restore option

  • Menu start remains open, Flash Windows

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my computer that I think a lot of people have had, but I can't seem to find a definitive solution for her. My Start menu will not open, and my windows blink and light that I use my computer. The only new program I have installed recently was skinning program WindowBlinds (which, allegedly, makes no changes to the file system). I uninstalled since then, but the problem has not disappeared.

So far, the virus scans have concocted with nothing. I do the sfc.exe scan now. Y at - there anyone out there who has had this problem and managed to fix it? If so, how do remove you?

    Hello

    1. when the question is is produced?

I suggest that you follow these steps and check if it works to solve the problem.

    Step 1:

Start your computer in safe mode and check if the start menu stays on and also note if windows blink.

    Step 2:

If the problem persists in safe mode, I suspect that there could be a third-party (other than WindowBlinds) software conflict causing the issue to occur. I suggest that you put your computer in a clean boot State. Clean boot eliminates conflicts of third party software.
Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

  • Shortcuts and other features don't work anymore

A week ago my Photoshop CC 2015 began to malfunction. Shortcuts like ALT + scroll wheel to zoom or space to move no longer works. Also the selection rectangle and popups to tool (if you hold the left click on the toolbar on the left to the pop-up window of the other tools) no longer work.

I use 10 64-bit Windows, and I tried to reinstall Photoshop on the cloud. I deleted the folder 'C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2015' before you reinstall it to ensure that all settings have been deleted. Unfortunately the problem persists.

Y at - it a fix for this problem?

I discovered what caused problems. There was a bug in a program called synergy which collided with the way Adobe screen sharing handles entries. After the update to the latest nightly build of synergy, everything worked again.

  • Captivate 9 - Player in the FastForward menu - ToolTips don't work when publishing to SWF format

We have recently upgraded to 9 Captivate. We had a problem with the publication of our material to the SWF format.

Fast Forward Player menu option [> >] ToolTips not getting picked up and displays only the ToolTip for the State of the default button (2 x Fast Forward speed).

The actual game speed does not change, so the problem is with the ToolTips.

When we publish our material to the HTML5 format, the ToolTips are working properly; as provided for in the playbarScript.js file:

    "FastForward: ' 2 x speed fast forward."

    "FastForward1: ' 4 x speed fast forward."

    FastForward2: 'normal speed. "

We looked at the flash files used to create the PlayBar (c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 9 x64\Templates\PlaybackFLA\AS3\..), and these tooltips seem to be good here.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Thank you very much.

Even if it is not explicitly mentioned in the release notes, we confirm that this has been fixed in version 9.0.2.437.

  • What happened to the shortcut on the start menu in Windows?

After the Muse on Windows 10 2015.2, I can no longer pin the program in my Start menu, which is the case until now, I always recorded. I can not even find the program by searching for, and it is not in the folder program files. To open the program, I had to do it directly from the Adobe cloud program, and I later opened by double just by clicking on one of the Muse files I was working with. I can still pin Muse to the taskbar, but I'd really rather in the start menu, I have try to keep the taskbar pretty clean and do not use Muse too often that the other programs that I keep there.

In any case, this change in the installation by design is? Seems very counterintuitive not to be able to access it from the same location as other programs Adobe. I really have no idea where the executable file is still at the present time.

    Hi Brett,

Thank you for pointing out this bug! The shortcut on the start menu should be back in our latest version of Muse, version 2015.2.1.21.

    Thank you

If you haven't tried the "last known good configuration" among the Advanced startup options then do that first.  If this does not help, you must run the System File Checker to search for possible system problems.  Then, you must run the upgrade from the system tool and then see if you are able to run the SP2 update.   Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • 'Computer', search, sign, all inherent in the Windows Start menu does not not in Windows 7 x 64

Menu start search does nothing (it is empty) and nor "see more results". Control Panel opens a blank window.

Computer [also the shortcut on the desktop], music, Documents, etc. also does nothing. The frequently used icons still work, for example Dropbox and Malware Bytes on this machine.
    "All programs" also works.

    Edit:
I just realized that the empty window of the Control Panel does not close. There will be no X-out and Alt - F4 does not work.

I ran the Windows Microsoft 'FixIt'. That said he could solve the problem of the research, this raises the problem of research, then he said he solved the problem of searching (and only this problem), but it did not work.

It seems that my computer was restarted in the night, or possibly to crash and restart. The first time that's happened I assumed it was my antivirus (Webroot) reboot or something similar, because the time was good for that. But now that it's happened a few times, I'm much less sure about. I'm not under what anyone from one day to the next (like the video compression or download).

I haven't restarted, which I really hope will solve this problem. But there are a lot of quirks of windows you set with reboot (as in new versions of Windows)... is not an oddity. This is a pretty big failure. It's not like "Oh, it is not recognizing the printer, I'll restart."

A successful operating system should not stop the side OS/usefulness of the user interface like this. Even if a reboot "suit", is a major issue.

I'm an advanced user but not a pro. I did it and the user support, I'm building my own PC, I have owned them for adults 20 years of age and I am a computer science major. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with advanced Windows troubleshooting, I use usually just Google and a few tried and true solutions to the difficulty of the PC of the user. I never did anything with the Windows log files, and I'm not anywhere near MCSE, obviously.

    Hi JCalton,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems during the search start, Control Panel, start menu and also in the Internet. Surely, I will try my best to solve the problem.

I would like to know more information on the issue, so that we can help you better.

-What is the "Microsoft FIXIT' you have tried to solve this problem?
-You receive error during the opening or closing of any folder or any application?
-Did you do changes on the computer before that
    question?

    Method 1:

Step 1: Place the computer in a clean boot state to check the issue
Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
If the issue is not persistent, then follow the article to find the cause of the same thing.

Step 2: I also suggest to keep the computer in clean boot mode and check if that helps.
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 3 of the boot link to configure the computer to normal startup mode.

Method 2: For the problem with the search and Index, I suggest you follow the steps to run the troubleshooter from the link and check the status of the issue.
Open the troubleshooter for search and indexing

Method 3: Also, I suggest you run the Microsoft FIXIT from the link and if it helps.
Difficulty of Windows Desktop Search when it hangs or no display of results

Method 4: To make sure that your computer is virus free, I suggest you to run Microsoft Safety scanner and check if it helps.
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection. For a real-time protection that helps you keep your home or small office PC against viruses, spyware and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.
Method 5: File system (CFS) Checker
SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    (a) click Startand type cmd in the box start the search.
    (b) right click on cmd in the list and then click Run as administrator of and programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    (c) at the command prompt, the following line and then press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

  • Documents folder deleted in error and start menu link does not work again

In the folder tree pane (Vista Home Premium) it appeared that I had inadvertently copied double my completed application documents in the foledr of downloads, as it seemed that I had two copies of everything: waste of disk space. So I deleted the subfolder Documents of the record of downloads... and the main Documents folder are missing too! It's all the same thing. I don't understand why. But anyway. It wasn't in the Trash because there had been too much to go over there, so it is all definitely eliminated and lost: more than 8 GB :-(

Therefore, the Documents link in the start bar stopped working. Even after that I created a new Documents folder in the same location as the original, the link on the start menu does not; When I click on properties for the link, the path is empty, and I can't find a way to save a path to it. Any ideas?

The Document folder is a special folder that will be created in a special way.  Here is the procedure to correct a record that has not been created properly: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/90705-personal-user-shell-folders.html.

Here is another article on how to restore a missing (like Documents) under Vista personal user folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/148461-personal-user-folder-restore-missing-folder.html.

Between these articles, I think you should be able to solve your problem in one way or another.

    =================================================================================================================

In case you're still interested in trying to retrieve the dossier of Documents initially lost, here are some options you can try:

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky.  They have so-called saves shadow copies, which are deleted or modified files that can be recovered in case changes/deletions made by mistake.  http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/Windows-Vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx more information about how to use this feature to: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/howdoi/?p=145.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, shadow copies is not available; However, there is an alternative that is free and the shadow copies feature called Shadow Explorer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/recover-files-with-shadow-copies-on-any-version-of-windows-vista/.  Although it will not help you this time, it could very well save you in case this happens again.

In case this does not work (not all files are available through shadow - it occurs periodically), here are some additional free recovery programs that might help:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html (first try Recuva)

http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/DiskDigger.html (try this second - if this fails too, then the chances of recovery are very slim, but we invite you to try other programs if you want)

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/easusdfr.html

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/restoration.html

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/downloads/Recuva/dlrecuva.html

    http://www.SoftPerfect.com/products/FileRecovery/

    http://techpaul.WordPress.com/2008/06/23/how-to-recover-your-lost-files/

The files are not really deleted until they are crushed (although they are no longer available through conventional methods).  If you decide to try these recovery programs, you should stop using your drive hard immediately in order not to replace the data that you are trying to recover.  He slave on another PC and launch the recovery of this PC.  Even now you have definitely lost some of them if you use the same PC.  If you can not do this (slave on another PC), you run the risk of overwriting the data with every action you do on the PC (but you may still be able to recover some or most or even all files - it's a matter of luck).

Only you can decide if the data is important enough to take the PC to an expert data recovery to recover files (they will have better programs and hardware to do that none of us do, and I've provided above).  Do NOT go to the Geek Squad or one of these centers of store-, they generally don't know what they are doing - it take for expert data recovery.  It will cost you a little and they generally offer no guarantees.  The decision is yours.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Windows Live Family Safety - menu start closes

I have recently installed Windows Live Family Safety on two desktop computers.  Menus to start the computer both are now practically unusable.  The start menu closes / disappears in the opening moments.  It took several attempts to be fast enough to click on start, then on the button restart button.

After many attempts, I was able to open the control panel.  In the Parental controls window, down under additional controls. I changed the selected provider of Windows Live Family Safety to zero.  Without even closing the window of Parental control, the start menu resumed its normal operation.  When I cycle between zero and Windows Live Family Safety menu start immediately works or does not work according to the configuration.

Given that he is on both computers is a setting in WLFS or this, I chose a big bug that makes unusable WLFS?  (Hard to believe)

All windows updates have been applied and multiple reboots have been attempted.

I would like to use the product and would appreciate any help.

The issue seems to have resolved itself.  I don't know if WLFS needed to synchronize with a server, or which solved the problem.  When I came back to this computer the next day, however, the start menu was working fine.

Although this is resolved itself, I found mention of this issue in an online journal of magazine and in another forum of responses, so I hope that Microsoft will continue to address the issue.
