Should I close the reference?

Hello

I would ask... should I close the reference of the workbook in the following code?

In fact, I have little idea whether to close a reference or not, because I thought that LabVIEW will automatically close all references after the execution.

I also found that someone says that the activeX references must be closed on mine.

Could someone correct my understanding of the closure of reference?

In this case I'm fairly certain that cleaning screws will close these references, so I don't think that you should close your self.  One way, usually, I test this is I put the code in a while loop, or use the continuous run button.  It's basically the only time wherever I never use only and I have on small subVIs like that.  Then, I run my code over and over again and look at the Task Manager to see how much memory is using LabVIEW.exe.  After a few seconds if there is a leak of memory then memory will continue to increase.  If the memory goes up and down a bit, but overall does not continue to grow, then all the references that should be closed are closed.

There is a white book NOR on the reference Server VI of closing which is exactly what you are doing, but has relevant information.

This is the same reference... There is no need to close the two.  And if you approve the automatic cleanup of references LabVIEW, you really do not need to close, as the references control must never be matched and will be automatically cleaned when your VI is inactive.

For more information, here is a blog that just now, I wrote that talks about closing reference.

  • A single reference FPGA, 2 parallel FIFO running, how close the reference?

That is right.  The reason is because they are both the same reference.

  • close the reference on "read text file" - Ref num vs prefer class conflicts

    Dear users,

Vi Analyzer asks me to close the refernce created by VI "read text file". So, I would close a refnum created by primitive VI "read text file". I used a direct wire, wiring by top and bottom of the casting, but each of them attend class conflicts (see the screenshot below). It is even possible to correctly transform the refnum (byte stream type reference) to refer (reference VI generic) and remove the refnum?

    See you soon,.

You must use the close file.

  • The reference must be closed on a reading-file error or not?

    Dear users,

When I read a file, a reference is created one should close, when no longer used, should I? Here is a minimal example to my next serious question: should I close the benchmark on reading-file error or not? Is there a created in the case of "the file does not exist"?

    See you soon,.

No, when used in this way, the references created by the file read and write functions should not be closed - thought that he would have no negative effect if you did.

In addition, you do not want or need the structure case around a reference close the function.

I think you're looking in the root folder not your home folder.   Tilde ~ in front of the first slash indicates the folder.

    Try this...

    Quit Safari.

Open a Finder window. In the Finder menu bar, click go > go to folder

Type or copy paste the following text:

    ~/Library/preferences/com. Apple.Safari.plist

Click OK, and then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the trash.

    Restart Safari to test.

  • Close the vi reference does not not on reentrant vi

I have a reentry vi which will not close its reference. My program work experience, and once the experiment is complete, I use the FP. Open the property node (w / a fake wired to her) and a reference to close to automatically close the VI and reference. If I go into Windows Explorer to reopen the VI for editing, I get a popup 'a VI in memory with the same name cannot be replaced because it is in use. Click OK to open the VI in the memory. »

Now, if stop my program courses through the experience by pushing the button exit (which runs the same FP. Open and close reference) and try to reopen the VI through the Explorer, there is no popup and the VI opens without a hitch. I can't figure out why there is this difference in behavior, or why I can't close reference VI.

    Is reentrancy issue?

    Thank you

  • Close reference vi does not close the VI?

    Hello

I run an application that has several sons look loaded dynamically. When running in interpreted while developing mode, I noticed that the wires do not close when I stop the main VI. To try to combat this, I got a deal of event:

This does not help either. That's when I read in the Help menu on "close to reference" the following text:

"When you create a refnum to a VI, LabVIEW support VI in memory. The VI remains in memory until you close the refnum and until the VI meets the following conditions: there is no other reference open to the referenced VI. The front of the VI is not open. The VI isn't a Subvi VI another in memory. The VI is not a member of a library to open a project. »

The last part is my problem since the VI is still a member of the library opened in interpreted mode. Is it possible to force the closure of these threads without having to relaunch the project?

    Hi kgolden,

If you use a property node with "FP-> Open", you can close your vi (connect false) to close your vi. If you hide your vi with this property, then the window handle is no longer valid and it works.

  • close the word table does not work

I'm having trouble with the active x progrmaming with MS Word.  My VI simply runs through a directory and opens each word document and converts it to text and it accumulates in a table.  My problem is that MS word does not close each file after loading in each iteration.  What I am doing wrong?

Use the method Close _Document as the last thing in the loop FOR (close the document of reference after). Also, you should get the collection of Documents only once BEFORE the loop FOR and close this thing first reference after the for loop. Before closing the _Application reference, you can use the Quit method to close Word and then close the _Application reference.

  • Delete the reference to the backup folder

I created a 'A' backup volume on an external hard drive using Microsoft backup/restore utility.  I then "deleted" this backup volume "A" using Windows Explorer.  When I use "Backup/Restore" to restore files from other backups, backup volume 'A' is always displayed as a location valid for restoring files.  If I choose the volume 'A', I am allowed to choose a folder or a file and when I run the "restore" command, an error message appears indicating the folder or file is not on the drive (which is as it should be).  My question is "How do I remove the reference to A backup volume, so it does not appear to be a valid backup volume?

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

If you do not have appropriate (or permission) rights for a file or folder, you can not remove it. If not create you the file, you may not be able to delete it, even if it is stored in the Public folder. If this is the case, you must ask the owner of the file to delete. To learn more about permissions, see permissions are?

In addition, you cannot remove a file (or the folder that contains it) if the file is currently open in a program. Make sure that the file is not open in any program, and then try again to delete the file or folder.

Close all open programs, and then try to delete the folder. If this does not work, restart your computer and try again to delete the folder. Most likely, the file has not been deleted because another program was using a file that was in the file.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Applies to:
    Oracle Forms - Version: 10.1.2.2.0 to 11.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.
    Goal
This document will describe how to close the browser window (without confirmation of the user) who was responsible for starting a session of forms.
    IMPORTANT:
The sample program in this article is provided for educational purposes only and is NOT supported by Oracle Support Services. It has been tested internally, however and works as described. We do not guarantee it will work for you, so be sure to test it in your environment before relying on it.
The code in this document uses Java Scripting to achieve his goal. If the client computer does not have Java script active or is blocked, this code will not work correctly. In addition, although this document was written as it applies to Oracle Forms, the functionality of the browser and how Java Script responds that it contains, is not related to the product forms. If, for some reason this code does not work for you, the problem is probably the result of changes (for example, updates) made by the supplier of the browser, or a client configuration that prevents the correct execution of the Java Script code. These problems are not related to the Oracle product and you should refer to the manuals of browser or Java script repository to debug the problem.
This code has been successfully tested with Oracle Forms 10.1.2.3 using Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3.0. Be aware that FF3 is not currently certified for use with Forms 10.1.2.3 or more. Other versions may or may not work for the aforementioned reasons.
    Solution
    Directions for use:
    1. using an html editor or text, create a file html with the following code:

Your browser or system settings prevented this window to close.

To ensure the highest level of security,

Please close/quit immediately this browser session.

    2. save the html with the following name: close.htm
3 store this file on the middle tier in a directory that has an associated virtual path configured on the HTTP server. You can use an existing path or create a new. For example, in the version 10.1.2 you can copy the html file to this directory:
    ORACLE_HOME\tools\web\html
Practically, the above corresponds to the following by default:
    genres/html /.
For more information about creating a virtual path to the HTTP server, refer to the HTTP Server Administrator's Guide.
    4. in the Forms application, choose the desired relaxation, where you want to run the browser is closed. Don't forget that by executing this code, the application will be suddenly terminated, therefore, it is recommended that the following code only appear in the trigger of FORM post forms.
    Web.show_document ('/ forms/html/close.htm','_self');
    5. compile and run the form.
Out of the form, the browser calls close.htm, resulting in the closing of the browser.
This has been tested successfully using IE7 on XP - SP3. While this code works with other browsers, for example, FireFox 3, a change of configuration in FF are needed to make it work properly.
    Manual steps required for FireFox:
    1. open an instance of the FireFox browser.
    2. in the address bar, enter the following command and press enter on the keyboard:
    Subject: config
    3. in the list presented, locate the following setting:
    DOM.allow_scripts_to_close_windows
    4. double-click on this setting to set its value to TRUE
    5. exit the browser

  • El capitan cannot restart, stop or close the session

If someone has problems with the restart, shut down or close the session with El Capitan (items disappear from the screen, but then restart stops on a white screen, the cursor still moves, dock still works) I have a possible solution. It should probably be a musician for your problem but check library-> Audio-> Plugins-> HAL and make sure that you don't have a plugin file named Digidesign CoreAudio or Avid CoreAudio. These two causes this problem. Avid is the most recent files, but still incompatible with El Capitan. Delete this file. Hope that helps someone.

  • When I close the lid on my MBP, it goes to "Standby" to "Hibernate" why?

My MacBook Pro for six years had been working perfectly until about a month earlier, when he stopped to stay in Mode standby when I closed the lid.

With the lid closed, initially, he goes to sleep, but after about 30 seconds, it goes into hibernation mode and to turn on again, I have to press the power button. I then get a grey screen and no use of the trackpad. Shortly after, the gray screen disappears and the machine works perfectly.

The battery life is very good (68%), I have reset the SMC and I have not loaded the new software. The only thing I can think is that this started to occur at the time of the last update of Safari.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Comments or suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello, Spring Lake Bob!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. After reviewing your post, I understand that your MacBook Pro sleeps as expected when you close the lid. Instead, it goes into a hibernation mode that requires you to press the power button to interact with him again. I certainly understand wanting to make sure that the computer sleeps when it should wake up how it should. I'd be happy to help you!

Get help with your situation, I would say using the article below the link to help isolate and solve the problem of sleep.
