Should I really a fighter 'slate' on my video for Comcast?

HI -.

I know just enough video production to get me in trouble... like now.

I made a 30 second commercial spot that will air on Comcast Network somewhere.  The piece is an animation of AE (5.5) with 7 seconds of video in.

I have Comcast specifications and (with the help of people on this forum) built the AE project correctly.  Now I have FTP of Comcast instructions and I see the following:

"Some markets require all spots should have a slate that identifies the title spot, customer and duration and seven seconds of black between the slate and the task and seven seconds of black depending on the location."  "

Right now I don't know what my 'market' demands so I thought I would prepare my outing with slate and without.

However - I don't have a real physical slate so here is the idiotic questions.

Is this acceptable (albeit non-professional) to only make a handwritten sign indicating the title, the client, duration, etc.  What do I do?

How about, instead of shooting video of the sign, if I just put a text on layers with AE on a black background?  Who will be sufficient or should it be video?

I can't honestly imagine I would actually have to applaud.  I am no where near the place where the audio behind the animation has been recorded and the video installation is also long gone, so my clap audio level will have no connection with the rest of the production.  The audio is locked/synchronized with the animation and video, it is not necessary for them to sync before they are broadcast.  Of what value would a clap sound?

Another question gnawing at me.  How long slate should be on the screen--with or without the clap?

I would really appreciate some answers from an experienced person.  I'm not in trouble too deep right now, but by tomorrow, things could be disastrous.

TIA your entry

JL

The slate is just a slide that identifies the clip. There is sometimes a countdown which ends at 2. When there is a countdown you usually put an audio pop or a beep to the mark two seconds. It is black then the task fades to 0. This signal is called a Pop 2.

Slates can also be handled by color bars.

You must follow specifications exactly or the video will be rejected.

should my time capsule be connected with a cable for backups, after the initial installation?

If you mean that you have to keep your Mac connected to a Time Capsule via Ethernet for future backups, then the answer is no. Time Machine and time Capsule are designed to work over wireless for your Mac would just need to be connected to the wireless network provided by the time Capsule.

  • Should I really need 8 or 9 GB operating XP?

original title: half of my disk space?

Troubled by constant diagnostic on the inadequate storage, I contacted MS direct tech supports (a very useful Amrit) who told me the reason why I ran out of storage was Windows XP had need 8 or 9 GB to operate, and has been constantly updated itself to 100 megs a pop reality check: is this really the load needed for XP (works on a small netbook HP) half my disk space? I'm not doing something extraordinary - Facebook, email, word processing and spreadsheets. I don't think 9 GB for the operating system is justified.

    [Some of our dialogue:]

Amrit: Yes, as I see that you have 15 GB of data and whose 7 to 8 GB of storage is used by Windows Xp.

    You: Is this normal?

Amrit: Yes, Windows XP uses up to 7 to 8 GB of space.

You: I guess what I need is the standard size of the programs of teas vs the size they're occupying. Frankly, I '; horrified m windows needs 8 GB to operate - my half of storage.

Amrit: Yes, Windows, program files, and the record of the driver take up more space on your computer.

You: Once again, is there an automated way to query Windows on its unused portions and uninstall them?

Amrit: Richard, I can change the setting from automatic to manual Windows Update so that you can select and install the required updates.

    You: Fine.

You: It's a bit like the point of view of Republicans to the federal Government - growing steadily at his own expense. What do I get for my storage here?

You: Can I uninstall all updates?

You: Is there a way to clean windows?

Amrit: Richard, the updates are important to the functionality of your computer, they are updating our security software on the new worm and the hole of the pit so that our computer is secure.

Amrit: Richard, you can increase your disk space hard as I see that 15 GB is a less space.

You: However, the computer is bogged down with windows, so that the effect is the same, as if she was infected...

    ]

What are the exact messages you see?  They relate to low 'space' or 'virtual memory' low?

According to KB 314865 "minimum requirements for basic functionality" for Windows XP is 1.5 GB, right at the point where the sp2 and sp3 have been installed, it is usually up to 4 or 5 GB.  A size of 12-14 GB is not uncommon.

Your conclusion that "the computer is bogged down with Windows" because Windows is taking half of your hard drive is not correct.  Unless your hard drive is almost full, you should not encounter problems, although Disk Defragmenter often complains if there is less than 15% free space.  You also run into great difficulties if your disk space is insufficient for your paging file (swap).  The default page file size is 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have, and it is located in C:\.

There are a few things you can do to mow C:\Windows, but these chances will save only 1 to 2 GB.

Another part of C:\Windows which usually gets big enough is C:\Windows\Installer.  The directory includes data must uninstall the applications that you added.  Do not delete the entries in this directory.

There are other parts of Windows that take place on your hard drive outside C:\Windows.  For example, the default value for the restoration of the system is to allocate 12% of the hard drive to its restore points.  If you have a 15 GB drive, SR takes about 1.8 GB.  You can safely reduce it to less than 1 GB. See http://bertk.mvps.org/html/diskspace.html

System restore points for its restoration in C:\System Volume Information, a directory hidden doubling.  In addition, Windows 'Indexing' (which is supposed to make faster research) stores its information database in this directory.   To turn off the indexing service, see http://lifehacker.com/#! 031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp

Another thing you can do is to disable Hibernation.  C:\Hyberfil.sys is a file that is the same size as the amount of RAM you have.

    • Right-click on an empty space on your desktop, and then click "Properties".
    • Click on the tab "Screensaver".
    • Click on the button "Power" under "Power Monitor"
    • Click on the tab "Hibernation", then uncheck "Enable Hibernation"
    • "OK" your way out

There may be bits of Windows, you do not want.  Control Panel > add or remove programs > Add/Remove Windows components.  Most of this, however, is pretty insignificant.  To remove more than normally permitted components, see the post of Wataroo here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=31494

  • Should I really Satellite A300?

I thought that I was the proud owner of an A300: Intel 2 x 2, 66 GHz, 4 GB, 2 x 500 GB HHD, ATI HD4650m 1 GB, 17 ". Try to find a driver for XP SATA, I noticed that all the Satellite has a short-series format as by PS_ * A * _ *. Mine is by PS_ * P * _CCE. According to the format system, which would imply that it is a series of Satellite P. But the label clearly A300-23F. I also started to doubt the info on the label, cause SATA XP for the A300 driver does not include the AHCI Intel ICH9M-E/M, which - depending on the direction of Vista system - is the controller being used.

    1: I have an A - or a P-series?

2: is there a driver available for my controller ICH9M-E/M SATA for XP?

    Gr.,
    Rob

    Hello

Satellite A300-23F belongs to the PSAGCE series.
So at the bottom of the device, you should see the number of model for example like this: PSAGCE-0CN00JRU

If your model number starts with PSPCCE-xxxxxxxx so it's not A300 but P300.

The SATA for Satellite P300 series drivers are placed in the package Intel Robson!
    (file-> Winall\driver)
You can find it on the European driver Toshiba page!

  • Should I really ThinkVantage Active Protection System?

I'm always tired on third party software and additional things to windows... specially the programs that start themselves when windows starts. So I wonder about ThinkVantage Active Protection System... do I really need it on my T440s? I read it as an airbag to protect disk HARD incase I let fall or bump my machine. But what happens if its still sitting on my desk and I never let it drop or knock it. then what I still have to install?

As long as your machine is runing a typical hard drive and not an SSD n, I would keep the APS installed. If you feel that it interferes with the operation of the HARD disk, you can change the settings and make it less sensitive.

  • should I really a complex login password?

I use a laptop while attending night school to get a higher degree of security of Information systems. One of the things that briefly covered in course of last night is on the recovery of the lost Windows login passwords, as well as their reset. Given that we have actually demonstrated how to get into such a system, and as such, the tools are available pretty much everyone around me, is there much of a point using a hard-to-remember, hard to type complex login password? A simple (but hard to guess by humans, although easily broken by l0phtcrack) easy to type and remember password discourage someone by chance loggin and trapping me or do things, but anyone who would be committed to participate in the school has the tools and knowledge to do so.

They boot CD, crackers, etc. I put a BIOS password, I think that there are ways around this. I know that there are jobs, I've just never bothered to investigate a laptop.

In light of this, it is really worth the aggravation to use these complex passwords on my laptop? I want to store anything of value on the laptop. Just about everything what I record is stored on a flash drive, anyway, and I have my browser remember not the words of past value.

The laptop is also old enough that few people will want to fly for the material.

    Hello

Login and password BIOS is not enhanced security measures. For the most part, they stop the curious. In fact you do not have
must have a password of connection at all and the system boots directly to the desktop of the default user.

If you need security for important data then the encryption of files and folders, and could even the entire disk
    be used.

    FreeHide folder - free
    http://www.cleanersoft.com/hidefolder/free_hide_folder.htm

Encryption software of free disk for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux

FreeOTFE is a free, open source, "on-the-fly" for PC and PDA transparent disk encryption program
    http://www.FreeOTFE.org/

You could also check the file with WinZip or other compression programs that support passwords.

    I hope this helps.

You don't need to install anything in your desktop PC. Wireless routers have ethernet ports you can connect to your PC with a cable.

  • Should I do these updates & should I really a Virus?

My sister (not i) says that it is important to download the updates of Windows (she has updated approximately 40 hours).  Then, could not send an email from a site I have used frequently and kept receiving error messages.    Called MS Support (think it was the MS Support: 800-642-7676) and after hours on my own and then it uninstalled updates with this useful guy from the Philippines and said it could and should put back them, but first I had to buy an antivirus package because I had 60 + viruses and my computer was not safe.  He seemed fine BEFORE the update.    It was very comprehensive and spent a lot of time on the phone with me, but this seemed to be bs.

    (1) should I update?   (2) do I need another antivirus software?  I have something basic month MSN $10 and I have AT & T DSL Services/windows 7.

    Thank you.

Yes, you should always update. In fact, you should have some updates on.

Most viruses are created by analyzing what changes to update, then attack unprotected machines like yours. Always do your updates.
