  I used VMware Player to create a RHEL 5.5 on Windows 7 host. The resulting virtual machine has a screen 1440 x 900, but when I run the screen is 800 x 600.   A draft resolution is defined by the first clip that you put in the timeline.  Create a new project, then put a 720 p clip in the timeline panel.  After that copy and paste all the old project into the new.  You can now delete the first clip if you wish.

  When I turn off the screen (leaving the PC running) and later turn it back on - the monitor goes into auto setting and change the resolution to 800 x 600.

  I found the solution - actuallyI attached my monitor for my PC using the cables VGA and DVI times. Somehow, my DVI cable is faulty - then when I turn on my screen and then turn it on again - the monitor starts with a DVI mode. Therefore, the problem. Now that I have removed the DVI cable - it works like a charm.
