• Run several SignalExpress projects simultaneously in independent processes

  I tried to develop the following simulation: simultaneously run two SignalExpress projects with similar steps, but defined configurations.

  However, what really happened was: the first *.seproj runs as expected. However, when I run the second *.seproj file, it uses the configuration of the first project, rather than his own.

  Files and folders (in bold) Setup:

  • Project1
    • Project1.seproj: Contains a step of user referring to a VI in this folder VILibrary.llb.
    • Project1.ini
    • VILibrary.llb
  • Project2
    • Project2.seproj
    • Project2.ini
    • VILibrary.llb: Contains a step of identical user referring to the VI in this folder VILibrary.llb. (I copied the file *.llb from the folder above and the stage of the user to point to the VI in LLB of the file being edited). In the case of each VI 'config', I have a "a Dialog button" displays the path of the INI file to read.

  Action taken:

  1. Double-click Project1.seproj in WIndows Explorer and run it. The above mentioned user step displays a dialog box that it is ready to read Project1\Project1.ini as expected.
  2. Double-click Project2.seproj in Windows Explorer and run it. The above mentioned user step displays a dialog box that it is ready to read Project1\Project1.ini! This should not... I expect the dialog box to display Project2\Project1.ini.

  This behavior is correct? I expect the nature the returning of the VIs (developed from a model SignalExpress) would make sure that various INI files would read.

  I found that the problem goes away if give you the names of different screws. It would be a viable solution? The problem seems to be that SignalExpress will use the first VI of a particular name without checking that it is the 'right' VI.

• How to avoid the automatic launch of SignalExpress with a USB instrument?

  When I plug in (or activate) a USB instrument (I have 2 USB power sensors and a signal RF N9310A Agilent generator) - SignalExpress 2009 will launch automatically.  It is very annoying (and apparently by default) behavior.  With 3 switched instruments, I get 3 instances of SignalExpress which must be closed.  Anyone know how to disable this feature?  Of course, I'm sure I could just uninstall SignalExpress altogether, but not this option, what is the solution?  I'm running on Windows 7, with LV 2009 Professional.

  After some research, I found the solution.  As I said in the original post, it's Windows 7, so this may be a problem of Windows 7-specific.

  To disable the autorun of SignalExpress property when you plug a USB T & M class in Windows 7:

  1 run the configuration utility AutoPlay from the Windows Control Panel (Panel of-> hardware) and sound-> AutoPlay, or simply type AutoPlay in Windows Startup box.

  2. scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see-> Test and measurement device. Change the selection to "Control Instrument using LabVIEW SignalExpress" to "not act."

  3. Save and you're done.

  I suggest you this info. added using SignalExpress for the next version.

• Can't the Datalog (counter) frequency data in 2014 SignalExpress

  I'm looking to acquire data from a map PXI-6143 using SignalExpress 2014. I am the acquisition of measures of the frequency of one of the built-in counters. However, SignalExpress does not show this entry as counter available for data entry. See the attached picture for my setup:

  Change your method of acquisition for 1 sample on request and define your sample in seconds period.

• I would like to add a counter reset natively SignalExpress

  I would like to add a counter reset natively SignalExpress without calling a VI.  I have a variable based on samples taken.  I'm countuously of sampling every half second using hardware USB-6008.  I want to count to 15, then add 1 to the variable B, then reset the variable 0 and loop.  Can I use a conditional repeat execution or execution of sweeping control control?  Thank you.   I re read your original post and it seems to me that the task is to count the pulses of a clock of the half second.  The count should be stored in a variable U32, "TicsTot."  Given that the task is to roll on the count 15 + 1 = 16, then it's just four bits (4 b, 2 ^ 4 = 16) arithmetic and a digital computer, it's easy.

  Continuously to calculate another U32, "TicsA' alias 'A', who are the least significant four Bits; and another U32, "TicsB" alias your 'B', which are the most significant Bits truncated right four bits.  When TicsTot is generated, and then simply use a step formula where Result = int(TicsTot/16) to calculate the TicsB, then another step formula where Result = TicsTot-(TicsB*16) to calculate TicsA.  It's all simple bit manipulation.

  So how do you TicsTot?  Simply pass your acquisition at the stage of statistics and output the number of samples, or TicsTot.  so:

  Gain step - signal acquisition with 0.5 seconds period, output signal, right click on the output of the step and and rename it "Signal".
  Out of step - "Input Signal", 'Nb of samples' statistics.
  Formula step - entry 'Nb of samples' as x 0 and formula = int (x 0/16), right click of processed data and rename it to "TicsB".
  Formula step - entry 'Nb of samples' as x 0, entered "TicsB" as x 1, formula = x 0-(x 1 * 16), click with the right button on the processed data and rename "TicsA.

  I think this is the solution for the task you sketched out.

• NEITHER 9237 and SignalExpress

  I have a cDAQ-9174 with modules OR 9237 with SignalExpress 2011 for strain gage measurement. After a few problems and doing some research on this forum, I discovered that the minimum sampling frequency for the NI 9237 is 1613 samples/second. However, I need a sample of about 1-5 samples/second rate as my tests will be the order of 4 to 5 hours and record 1613 samples every second will make my too big data file. On the forum, I found these workaround solutions:

  Subset and resampling (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371268M-01/expresswb/subset_and_resample/) seems to be the most recommended, however I have a few questions about this. I selected a range of subset of 0s to 1s and then choose a resampling of 200 Ms. that seems to be the more manageable sampling frequency, but then I have a problem with the export of the data collected. I get a message that says I can't export to Excel, as the data are 'not continuous' and can only convert to text. However, the text file is not really useful as it breaks down the data in individual games and puts the time in terms of dt. For small sets of data, it seems that it would be possible to manually determine every moment given by point, but I will receive a large number of data sets. I have tried uncheck the "optimize to run once" but still not the same type of data file. What makes a kind of aggrivating, it's in SignalExpress data view tab can display a graph of deformation over time, that I need in Excel.

  Another recommendation is to use the 'Statistics' using the collected samples, then changing the number of samples to change the rate. However, I prefer not to use this method because it seems to imply "at x time, average of the latter strain is y" rather than 'x time, strain is there' and I want just the value of the strain at every 0.5 s, 1 s, 1.5 s and so on (although I guess that how that differ from the subset and resample method?).

  The last recommendation I found suggested to use an N-sample acquisition, set to read two samples and then set a delay of acquisition of post about 1000 m that would have been a nice solution, but it seems that SignalExpress impossible to compile all the samples to read a log file, that I have seen only two data points when I opened it in Excel.

  There is no way to remove the loop in a way to stage VI LabVIEW Run. The only way to achieve this is running once the code SE. I'm afraid that this feature is not implemented in Signal Express. As this is a configurable environment it has no room for manoeuvre at all. The only thing you can do is to use LabVIEW. You can convert you SE project LabVIEW code via > tools > Generate Code > LabVIEW diagram. Once in LabVIEW, you will change your code to run only once a part of it.

  The same problem occurs when the data connection in a PDM file: it will generate a file with the variable you want to connect.

  Conclusion: to what extent SE functionality in LabVIEW.

• Open the project file in signalExpress

  Hi all

  When I tried to open an existing project file SignalExpress copied from another laptop on my laptop, I got the following error message:

  Versions of the components installed are not compatible with the version of LabVIEW SignalExpress. Please install the latest version of the following:

  (1) LabVIEW SignalExpress shared tools

  I couldn't find this tools shared on the site of NOR. Any suggestions?

• SignalExpress 2.0 on XP Tablet PC Edition

  I've searched the forums NOR, and I found a few threads saying that LabVIEW works on a XP Tablet PC Edition.

  But what about SignalExpress?

  I installed SignalExpress 2.0 on my Tablet PC (Samsung Q1), but when I try to run the program I can see the splash screen, but then, there are the following pop-up message:

  Initialization error

  LabVIEW SignalExpress is not installed.

  Please install LabVIEW SignalExpress before running the application.

  I had to update all the drivers NOR and components using the CD of 8,6 DAQmx instead of the DAQmx 8.5 gaskets (supplied with LabVIEW 8.2.1).

  I did install version 2.5 SignalExpress of this CD, so I'm able to use version 2.0.

  I dragged my data in the folder of papers according to the Instructions of Documentation Help '5. Read the data.

  All data is correctly written to a PDM file and converted to ASCII. How to see the length of reading?

  It is a very requested feature that you can't do in SignalExpress - yet.  One solution is to view the log monitoring/recording mode.  It is not ideal, because you can only browse the signal not to analyze.  Our apologies...

  You may need to upgrade your version of DAQmx.  The type of pressure measurement was added in DAQmx 9.1.

• SignalExpress - triggering an entry of an analog meter

  I use the cDAQ-9174 Council with an analog input OR-9222 module and a digital OR-9401 module.

  I am interested in generating a counter and a trigger, then the beginning of the entry on the front of this analog meter. Indeed, I want to create a simple analog to be delayed.

  So I followed these steps in SignalExpress:

  (1) created a block of output pulse counter generate DAQmx. It is high time, little time and delay initial all at 1 sec. I put it in cDAQ1Mod4_ctr0 (output terminal PFI3)

  (2) created a block DAQmx acquire Analog Input Voltage. I put it in cDAQ1Mod3_ai3. Samples of N = 100.

  (2A) on the trigger tab. I put the onboard digital start trigger type and the command source for/cDAQ1Mod4/PFI3 (to match step 1)

  2 (b) under the source of the clock, I put it in/cDAQ1Mod4/PFI0.

  When I run it, I get the error: "requested trigger line could not booked because it is already in use. I understand that it is in use, I started it in step 1. I wanted the counter pulse of the oven, and entered the analog for samples based on this pulse cycle.

  Get help what am I doing wrong? Is there another way to generate a pulse that can be used as a trigger for another source? I joined the project SE for reference

  I think the problem is that you try to read and write from the same channel meter Signal Express.  Is it possible that you could plug the output of your counter in the entrance of another channel and read that?  It's a little messy workaround, but it might be a possible solution.

• SignalExpress frequency control?

  I have a PXI-6713, and I try to use SignalExpress to generate and get out an analog waveform with frequency controlled by the user.  I think it's a simple task; I want just one button on my front panel that will allow me to select the frequency of the output wave.

  I have a block 'create the form to analog wave' and a block "DAQmx generate the waveform", so I am able to output a fixed waveform.  It's that I get, if.  It doesn't seem to be an option to add the frequency command directly to the waveform to create step.   I also tried to use a block "making the scale and conversion" to treat the waveform after creation, but it doesn't seem to be a direct way to change the frequency.

  Am I missing something obvious?  Asking too much SignalExpress?  I do this in a regular VI instead?

  Thanks for posting on the forums!  You're not too ask for SignalExpress, it's just that your application requires a feature of SignalExpress which is not commonly used.  First of all, you have at least SignalExpress 3.0 is installed?  With the release of SignalExpress 3.0, we added the functionality of the operator Interface.

  LabView SignalExpress Help: Operator Interface

  Operator interface select view"in the menu bar.  The Toolbox with available controls should appear in the upper left corner.  Place a button control to the bottom and click on the arrow icon to configure the properties of the control.  You want to change the related settings for link control for the frequency step setting create an analog Signal.

  

  

  Be sure to enable the operator Mode when you have finished configuring the button control.  Let me know if you encounter any problems with this.

  I'm leaving the principle of overload on a channel say you if the tension of the string is passed above the Max (42.4 V peak Ridge premium) entry on the PXI-4462 device. There is no material given indicator that tells the computer in any way that there is an entry that exceeds the voltage max. The only way you'd be able to tell if it happened over voltage max would be if the rails of the device to the peak voltage. I wouldn't recommend testing the limits of your devices like this as this could damage your device. What you could do in SingalExpress would be to set an alarm, then what's the channel exceeds a certain tension, lets say 40 V pk at differential pk, acquire the DAQmx would stop. LabVIEW SignalExpress 2010 has features for alarms, is not the case with the SignalExpress THE.

• Different frequencies of signalexpress with oscilloscope

  I'm new to the signal processing. I am facing some difficulties to measure the signal of a sensor of acoustic emission for my project. I use the PXI-6115 module with 1042 q and terminal block is TB2708. I used AI0 and AI1 for main signal and trigger respectively. I acquired the signal of 6115 in SignalExpress (v3.0) and convert to linear spectrum (Hanning window) and conversion of RMS with RMS on average 200. Same parameters are used in the oscilloscope (LeCroy LC564DL) too. I plugged the two signals of oscilloscope as well as for comparison. I saved data from the spectrum of SignalExpress and oscilloscope and plotted. You can see the graph as an attachment. It's totally different. Why is it so?

  And one more thing, that is if I disconnect my connector NI DAQ system, spectrum in oscilloscope changed in amplitude at a certain frequency and vice versa.

  My apologies for the late reply. I've been sick for a few days.

  I generated an amplitude 1V (2V peak-to-peak), 100 kHz, 10MS/s 20ksample sine wave to help to create an analog Signal.  I treated it with the power spectrum using 200 linear medium with RMS algorithm.  Value at 100 kHz - 3dB, as expected and as it should.

  However, at a given time in the process, forced SignalExpress my frequency of 100 kHz to 50 kHz (probably due to a shift of frequency and the number of points).  This would result in what you see.  Check your project to see if this has happened to you.  If so, you would get - 350dB to 100 kHz (essentially a pure signal noise floor) and - 3 dB to 50 kHz.

• Why cant a shared variable be read as a diagram in SignalExpress

  In SignalExpress I add a step to read a shared variable. I can display it in graphical mode, but not the graphics mode. Can someone explain why this is? I'm doing something wrong?
