Simple Transparent gradient Question

How should I do to solid to transparent in a shape layer - for example? Can't seem to find the setting anywhere.

Thanks for the help,

PA;

Do not lose hope immediately, Ray

Gradient overlay does not show the UI controls for the start and end points... just like in Photoshop, where they would be welcome!

You get only those in shape layer gradients, I thought you mentioned in your original post.

Now the show does ramp effect commands on-screen, but it does not support the transparency values in the gradient. So, do not lose your hair looking for people.

If you use a form, make sure that you click the hot text just to the left of the fill color swatch (that is to say, the yellow 'fill') and change the type of linear or radial gradient fill.

Shape layers currently offer the most powerful AE degraded creation, since they are specific to the control screen AND the opacity as points of gradient values.

Let me know if you need more information.

PS: There is a case that shape layer gradients will not appear on-screen controls - when the gradient fill (or gradient line) is at the root of the hierarchy of shape instead of nested layer within a group (don't worry, you get only this by manually adding a cerebral stroke/gradient fill. In other cases, gradients are automatically nested within groups of form).

  • Transparent gradient

I want just a simple transparent gradient black on an image.  When I use the "paper" for a color shade (as say Adobe directions), it appears just as white.  I can make them very well in Photoshop and Illustrator, but can't make it work in InDesign.  Or gradients stick correctly in other programs.

Other parameters do not create the effect either - mixing effects and do it just like a muddy gray on the image.

    Please help, thanks!

    I use InDesign CS5.

In InDesign, it's a process different, as indicated below.

    1. Create your box as a solid color - your black case
    2. With the selected area, go in the effect controls panel and the "fx" dropdown, choose "" Gradient Feather. "
    3. Play with it to your heart's content.
  • How to create a transparent gradient?

I use Photoshop Elements 8.  This could have a very simple answer, but I can't understand it.  I'm trying to take a layer and simply get a solid image to a transparent gradient, while it disappears gradually.  It's hard to explain, but I hope you understand.  Please let me know if you know how to do this.  Thanks to a bouquet.

It would look somewhat like this:

    IIIIIIIIII IIII II I I I I

    IIIIIIIIII IIII II I I I I

    IIIIIIIIII IIII II I I I I

    ^                                      ^

    Solid picture

    Part of gradually

    Picture disappears

    If that makes sense.

Is that what you are looking for?  I used the method of Group of clipping that mentioned Terri.

1 added an empty layer below the photo layer and grouped the 2 layers.

2 set the gradient options: linear, to the first plan of Transparent

    3. calls on the gradient of approximately 1/4 from the edge left completely to the right edge.

You can continue to draw the gradient with different staart and endpoints until you get the desired result. Just a matter of trial and error.

I added the white layer so that you can see the results.

  • Transparent gradient adjustment layer

I would like to create an adjustment layer (so I can tweak easily later) which creates the exact same effect as a tool of gradient in the following example.  I for the life of me can not understand how to do, maybe it is just not possible...

Using the tool gradient to create a mask, I can easily achieve this (note the gradient fades the image but maintains a transparent background):mirror-transp.png

Using a gradient adjustment layer I am forced to choose a color (transparent white) and I get this:

    mirror-white.png

I want than the previous (bland transparent) so I can easily fall on any background color later, but I want later so that I can easily adjust the % of fade eventually.

Is there a way to make a gradient in transparent fade adjustment layer?  I thought that it would accomplish may be a combination of the mixing layer, but have not been able to understand.  I try to keep things simple, but it's ok if the solution is a bit complicated because I intend to automate it in action that will apply to dozens, maybe hundreds of images.

There is a way without resorting to dynamic objects.

There is between these two layers clipping mask. This goal is achievable by alt clicking on between the two layers, or the shortcut Alt G command. Transparency would then become dynamic to some opacity is set for the gradient. Its solid to transparent gradient

  • Why the transparent gradient does not include white?

When I use a transparent gradient on top a darker colored background, I can see white as part of the transition, even if I put it to fade to no fill.

... and, no, I don't want to use the filter to multiply to solve this problem. Must be set to 'normal' because the object will be used for the web.

This feature works fine in Photoshop.

Use a gradient from color to color. One of the colors to the opacity value of 0. Do not include white, if the 100% color is not white.

  • importing an eps with transparent gradient

    Hello

I have a company with transparent gradient masks logo applied. When I import this EPS in InDesign, the parts appear white and flat.

  • Transparent gradient problem - Illustrator/InDesign

    Hello

I have a file of eps Illustrator who has a shadow using a black to transparent gradient on it, but when I bring it in InDesign the shadow has a white background. I need to place it over an image partially, otherwise it would not be a problem. Is there some sort of option of transparency I'm supposed to have selected?

Thank you very much if anyone can help

You can try to show import options when you place the file and check the background Transparent, but if this is not successful, you must resave the graphic as PDF or .ai.

  • Apply the transparent gradient at the edges of the picture

I found that I can apply a fade by using the transparent gradient tool, and dragging the image.  Works very well, but I can apply only bland next to the photo. If I try to do the other side of the picture, the previous fade is canceled.  I have to save the edited photo and redo tool degraded at the other side of the peak and so on.  Goal is to apply a uneven fade to transparency on the edges of the image.   I also tried the background Eraser, the results were not great - seems to leave a lot of pixels behind.  Is there a way to do it-without repeatedly discoloration on one side, economy, erasing a side, backup, etc...?

    An even easier method (CS5):

Make your selection of what you want to keep using the marquee tool, or through a series of Select menu options (- change the border (lg) - change the pen (sm) - reverse).

    Choose Select - refine edges...

    Before you click OK:

    (1) adjust the slider to feather (large)

    (2) set the edge (left)

    (3) choose output: as a layer mask

    (4) adjust if necessary

Click OK , and there you go. Ready to Place it in another photo or on a background where it can be transformed free to meet your needs.

If you choose call settings before you click OK once you have understood what you like then it will be even easier again the next time that you need to do.

  • Transparent gradient does not not along or through stroke

    Hello

Is it just me or transparencies in gradients do not work on or through shots? I don't know that they used to before the CC2015 was updated recently. Well, they seem to work always in the strokes and fills. I can get around it by the race tightening on multiply, but it isn't quite the same thing.

    Justine,

The complete list of things to try in a general case is here. Preferably simple reset proposed per ton is 3); ((4) and (6) go further. (5) is (probably) not relevant here.

Sometimes, (some) things may fail or stop working for no apparent reason. When (other) possible reasons/remedies do not work, it is perhaps a kind corruption (temporary or permanent), or even preference settings which disturbs, which can be cured with something on the following list put in place in order to provide a catch-all solution for otherwise intractable cases. It starts with a few easy suggestions and safe) 1 and 2) for cases less serious and goes two ways 3) and 4) to reset the default preferences (easily but irreversibly and more laboriously but more completely and also reversible), then follows a list 5) various other possibilities, and it ends with a complete reinstallation 6). If no other suggestion doesn't work, or if no other suggestion appears, you can start on the list and decide how to go or who can apply.

The following is a general list of things, try when

    (A) the question is not in a specific file,

    (B) you have a printer installed, connected and turned on if it's a physical printer (you can use Adobe PDF/Acrobat Distiller as a printer by default without the need to have a printer on, of course you will need to specify when you really need print on paper), and

    (C) It is not caused by problems with opening a file from external media (see below).

You tried/made some of them already; 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically may be corrupted/inconvenient preferences); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

If possible / there is, you must record a current work first, of course.

    (1) close Illy and open again.

    (2) restart the computer (you can make up at least 5 times);

    (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

    4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you can find the file here:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Illustrator/KB/preference-file-location-Illustrator.html

    5 look through and try the relevant among the other options (click on the link with that name, item 7) is a list of the usual suspects among other applications which can disturb and confuse Illy, point 15) applies to the maybe CS5, CS6 and CC);

    Even worse, you can:

6 (A) uninstall (check the box to delete the preferences, if any), B) run the cleanup tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC) and C) reinstall. It is important to use this step three way: otherwise, things may persist.

  • How to add a transparent gradient fill or 50% to a .ai imported path?

    Hello all;

I need help. My task sounds simple enough but do not know how to accomplish it.

I created the following path in Illustrator (see image - the top one). Actually, it is a graph of the lower third.

I managed to importating in .ai. However, should I use a solid or a layer of shape or it doesn't matter?

I can add a stroke that affects the color and the thickness of the outlines OK.

However, I can't understand how to add a gradient fill, or one that is 50% transparent? Can anyone help?

Oh... I will mention that I use After Effects CS3.

    Thank you.

    Tim

    Import into AE_CS3.jpg

Looks like you're a real novice in Illustrator. I create the entire work in Illustrator and import the AI as a composition. Put each item on a separate layer.

Take your form and complete with a gradient. Check the appearance and adjust the opacity. Duplicate the shape and caress the first Folio and remove the gradient. Adjust the opacity of the stroke (if you wish) using appearance.

If you don't know how to make this go a Google search for Assembly of the Illustrator Gradients. You can take a look at this Basic Intro to the Illustrator Gradients to Layers Magazine.

  • Simple Data Acquisition question please Help!

I have problems with a simple LabVIEW program.

I'm analyzing two inputs voltage and at the moment I have the VI work so that both are analyzed at 10 k Hz simultaneously and displayed in two tables of waveform.  What I would do, it is write values for them at 1 Hz in an excel spreadsheet or a text file with the time, the value of the first and the second value.  So I would create an array of [value1, value2] and export that to a line in a text file, I can analyze and then later in excellent.  I want to keep it that way for the duration of the program. In addition, it is possible to have the LabVIEW to generate such a table statistics once the user closes the loop, it would be even better.

I can only assume that it is not too complicated, but I've never done any export data and just a quick explanation probably will save me a lot of time.  Any help would be great, even if it's just to say "use this feature.  Thank you very much.

    Pieter

    Pieter,

Please post on the Forums of NOR. I could take an example that was similar to yours and organize data in the format you want. I've included a photo as well as saved for LabVIEW 8.6 VI. I took the data from the berries that were from the channel to read and handle while he was in the format of time, channel 0 channel 1. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

  • transparent gradient in table cell

When I try to fill a cel of table with a gradient of feathers that has transparent areas in it, the gradient becomes opaque in the table cell. I also tried a shape with a gradient of anchor in a table cell, and again the transparent areas turn opaque.

Is there a work around to fill a table cell with a gradient that has transparent areas in the slope?

It is not possible in InDesign.

  • Not-so-transparent transparent gradient

Hey, I am having trouble with the application a tool degraded to a rectangle in Photoshop CS3 for Mac OS X 5.8.  Rather than get a black color to blend into the background, I just get the black color.  And I drag and drop about 1.5 inches long.  Sometimes I find myself covering the entire image with that color, not only the object (even if the object is selected).  Gradient maps and layer masks do not seem to work.  Help?

  • Color of foreground to transparent gradients

CS4 tool degraded on the toolbar

Of course, I do not understand something, or I'm doing something wrong. What is it?

    Here's what I did:

Create a new layer and fill it with black.

Create a second layer over a black layer and select it. Open the gradient tool.

The gradient tool has 4 blocks, two at each end. I use the lower left block to set the blue color, and let the block above him to 100% opacity.

I use the lower block of the right hand and set the color to white. I put the opacity to 0 in the upper block right.

I draw the gradient on the new layer. I'm execting to see a blue gradient that fades to black, but rather it fade to white.

    Why is this?

More importantly, what should I do to get the gradient to fade from blue to 100% transparency to reveal the color of the lower layer (black in this case).

    TIA.

For the record, I was able to get the other (pixel-based gradient) to work as well...
