Since I installed Windows Vista is almost a year I've got dosens access folders that refuse to allow me and I am the administrator! Why?

Currently under Vista 64-bit with Service Pack 2.
"Records among 'Application Data', 'Cookies', 'Local Settings', 'Neighbourhood of printing', 'Recent', ' send to ', 'Start Menu', 'Templates', 'Documents & Settings', 'Office' Documents ', 'Default user' at different levels 'tree '.

Some of these folders are junction points http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb968829 (VS.85) .aspx which are NOT supposed to be accessed (they are there for backwards compatibility).  Even though you can access it, you would not make all changes because that could cause programs on your system suddenly stop working right and fixing the problem would be troublesome.

Some files are special system folders and are blocked by permissions.  These can be replaced if necessary (but they are probably blocked for a reason to make sure you know what you're doing when you try to access - usually, this means that changes can have a negative effect on your system unless you REALLY know what you're doing).

Some of the files you listed should be available or can be made available (possibly with modifications of permission) If you are in your profile (or an administrator in another profile).  For some of these issues, I would ask that you are trying to do - there is no reason to open some of these files.  Others, I can see the point and we can 'fix' by changing the permissions and/or property as follows:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block even against access and they serve as points of junction, for example (if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.

I hope this helps.

Good luck! Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • Don't install windows vista no disk but have product key sticker

Interesting problem? I have a laptop Acer Aspire 7720 G, which had Vista Home basic installed on the purchase, without discs provided but sticker windows product code based on the laptop. I just bought and installed windows 7 Home premium which seem to instal fine, but now my graphics card is not recognized (nvidia geforce). all I get is poor graphic vga? I tried to update the drivers from windows update and nvidia, no sucsess. 'Systems' I can't even see my graphics card, it seems I just graphics vga integrated, not good on a computer with blu-ray/dvd player and power dvd installed, nothing will work out of a bad quality dvd movie.

someone said that acer do not support windows 7 for this laptop and recommended re-setup of trash vista, but since I have no disk how can I do this. I don't have the product key code?

do I really have to install windows vista again and have I wasted my money on windows 7 that I can't use because my graphics card is not recognized? really frustrating, ilike, windows 7, want to use it, but how can I if it does not recognize my nvidai card, any help would be appreciated

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • My hard drive went bad so I bought a new. I installed Windows Vista and everything works until I try to install SP1...

As I said in the title, my hard drive went bad on my Dell XPS 420.  I was running 32 bit windows vista service Pack 2 since the last time my hard drive gone bad.  The first time I replaced my hard drive I used the cd of Windows Vista install with cd drivers and using automatic updates of windows.  In a few hours, I had my pc up and running.  But with this record, it's a completely different story.

I did the same thing with her.  Installed Windows and drivers as before and I go ahead and do the automatic updates.  Everything is okay until I get to point when I download and install windows Service Pack 1.  I download, install and it seems to work very well.  Then it restarts to complete the installation and configuration.  After about 30 minutes of this, he finally said service pack error.  Restoration of the changes.  He then takes 30 minutes more to do.  After that, I get a screen saying that Windows does not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  Follow-up by telling him to use the windows cd repair section.
I did this 3 or 4 times to do different techniques.  I did it with the automatic windows update.  Manually as an administrator.  After using the analysis tool in Windows Vista and in another way when restore you some files.  I am about to throw my pc because I've probably spent nearly 10 hours of messing around with it and honestly it's not my time unless there is ANOTHER way that deserves to be tried before I "Offices" of the thing.
Honestly, I think I read every article on this subject online.  If I type in service pack 1 and vista online I went to all the links on the first 10-12 pages...
If anyone has AN idea please let me know.  Yes, I would like at the office space that it but it would also be good to have another pc with a new hard drive...
    Thank you.

    Hello

No there is no way, how the do, because the license of Windows Vista is part of the computer compaq laptop - this is the license OEM - and cannot be separated.

(in case the laptop is broken and cannot be repaired, then the license expiresand cannot be used on another computer)

Since I installed Windows Live beta to run hotmail & messenger sometime in August, I get various error messages. They are:

    (1) Wlsstartup.exe GetHeight@CRImage@BEHXZ not found.

    (2) Uxcore.dll.  not found

This causes me problems with Facebook games.

    How can I fix?

Windows updates send me "service pack 1", that does not solve the problem.

Since Firefox works my better games on Facebook, I installed.  She needed Windows Presentation Foundation, which has been

taken out of SERVICE.  I turned it back on.  But, I think that the Windows Live Beta still causes me to be unable to do the things in games, I have to do to play/win them.

    Please help, thanks.

  • BOOTMGR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete while trying to install Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - Bit

Now that I got my 64-bit Vista in the mail and quickly install disc he jumped in my DVD player. The installation process went well until I was asked to choose which hard drive, I tried to install Vista on. I tried to format my hard drive to this screen, I was working with Vista 32 bit before that and saw no need to divide my two work machine with two separate versions of the same operating system. After formatting the hard drive, I have been unable to click on the 'next' button and engage the next step of the installation process. There was a message is displayed to the bottom of the window, as well tell a word about the installation of a machine already running windows. I would be happy to provide further information to the topic of my problems during this step, but my problems do not stop here.

After you notice the message described above and do not get farther in attempts to install later, I decided to try to reinstall the 32-bit version of Vista and then maybe try to upgrade to 64-bit. However when I put in the CD at retail, rather than receive messages at the start of a disc, I have met with the harsh reality of "BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart." Since then got trapped in a painful loop switching between disc 32-bit and the 64-bit disk in the hope that it would finally let me begin with him.

In addition to this logically faulty tactics, I also searched some online solutions. I made sure that my DVD drive is first in my boot order. My computer will not yet make Flex and give me the ability to boot from a disk.

My question is this; How can I get my computer let me boot from a disc again?

I will probably also need help to drive problem hard he, but as I can not even in a position to provide information on this issue at the time I need to have the above resolved dilemma first.

    Hey ClockworkOtter

You can't go from 32 bit to 64 bit

There must be a clean install

links below have very good tutorials on a clean install of vista

  • Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

Can we install windows vista 32 bit OS on a computer that is pre installed with windows 7 64-bit OS?

@ Ken... I tried installinng windows vista by using the recovery disk that will get a customer with the computer dell laptop... and then he was trying to install vista on my computer... It works fine when installing files, but it is and stucks where he says 'finish installation' and he won't do anything after that... I tried to restart my computer and I could see Microsoft coportation logo and then my computer stucks to this screen and wont connect in... not sure what exactly to do... by the ways for your reply thanks

You cannot use recovery discs to install with, if not for the exact model computer that you install.  You need a full installation detail of the model of Vista operating system you want to install since you don't downgrade your operating system to a system that offers no right of demotion.
  • Desktop HP Pavilion p6310y: need standalone Serial ATA Drivers to install Windows Vista on Pavilion p6310y

I bought your desktop Pavilion p6310y on eBay, and I really like it. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it without problem. For the purposes of running the software (in particular, Microsoft Virtual PC 2007), I also want to install Windows Vista Ultimate on it, on another partition.

I was under the impression that Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - Bit was originally installed the operating system when this system was released, however, when I start the installation support Windows Vista (which I created from a downloaded ISO), it requires additional drivers (no doubt, Serial ATA drivers) before instalatio, also no hard drives appear in the drive list. Anyone know where I can get these independent Serial ATA driver files? The controller is a NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA controller. I do not have the recovery of original installation disks and don't think that it would be possible to get to this point, this system is no longer supported by HP.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

    Hi, Mark:

I compressed upwards and tied the driver for the sata raid controller, you require to the nvidia chipset, that your PC has below.

The best way to install the driver is as follows...

Extract (copy) the files on a USB FlashDrive without any folder.

With the flash player and the support of Vista installation in the machine, boot from the Vista installation media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and I hope that Vista will install.

  • Can I install Windows Vista on my A110-178

    People,

I am in possession of a laptop Toshiba Satellite A110-178. I would like to know if I can install Windows Vista on this laptop? And what version, Home Basic, home premium, ultimate or business.

    Kind regards

    Tim Snijckers

    Hello Tim

I checked the Toshiba download page, and it seems that the drivers for Vista are available. Your laptop should have mode number PSAB0. Please visit http://support.toshiba-tro.de > support & download and choose your model of laptop.

Before you start the installation of Vista, it is recommended to update BIOS first. I did the same thing for friends Satellite A100. After the BIOS update, I was able to install Vista and all the stuff from Toshiba with no problems.

  • Qosmio G20 Vista drivers? No need to install Windows Vista

    Hello
I'm new to this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in the Brazil. I have a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a clean installation of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100), audio (Soundmax), TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (modem of toshiba), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install the Toshiba, Toshiba Bluetooth nvidia display driver (monitor and stack), driver Toshiba flash media, toshiba RAID texas (drivers and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.

Below some pictures of my desktop of the G20 screen:

And here is an example of the use of backgrounds animated with Windows Vista, deskscapes called dreamscene.
    It is in pause mode

To perform a new installation of windows Vista:

Please, download drivers Toshiba RAID here:

1 copy the contents of this archive on a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    2. Insert your Microsoft Windows Vista Edition Bootable DVD.
    3. turn on your computer and press F12 to display the start menu.
    4. Select the option to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
    5. on the first Setup screen, choose your language options, and then press "next".
    6. press on "install now".
7 type your product key and then press "next".
    8. accept the license terms by checking the box, then press "next".
    9. when he asked "which type of installation that you want", press "Custom (advanced)".
    10. when it is asked "Where do you want to install Windows?", make sure that your media containing the Toshiba RAID drivers is connected to the computer, and then click on "Load driver".
    11. navigate to the location you copied the RAID drivers then press 'OK '.
    12. the installation program will return to the previous screen, but it will show that you have selected the TOSHIBA RAID driver.
13 make sure that the TOSHIBA RAID driver is selected, and then press "next".
    14. continue the installation of Windows Vista as usual.

Now, you will need drivers Toshiba for your Qosmio G20:
See the information of Device Manager:
    http://www.rabayjr.com/Vista/qosmiodrivers1.jpg

    Drivers:
    1. SD memory controller

    And finally the Toshiba Utilities:
    Toshiba Configfree
    Toshiba Assist
    RAID utilities

    Toshiba SD Memory utilities

    That's all...

So, I say to you that Toshiba Qosmio G20 is Windows Vista Ultimate capable, indeed.
