Slot size - memory?

Hi Experts,

In my cluster HA, I see the memory size is 3117MB. How calculated this value? I did not put reservation on any of my virtual machines (I hv 14 virtual machines running in the cluster).

I did manually adding transparencies memory contained in the summary of each virtual machine tab, but it adds up to approximately 1 GB, no 3117 Mo.

Also I powered off the coast of one of the virtual machine with 8 GB of memory, but no change in the size of the slot.

So how is this calculated. Any tips? ESXTOP can help anyway?

Size of the slot of the CPU is displayed correctly in 32 Mhz, 2vCPU.

All resources/books explain it without showing the calculation of the overhead.

Kind regards

Jack

Welcome to the community,

Although you said "I don't have a reservation together on any one of my virtual machines", I would recommend you re-check all VM to see if one of them has a defined reserve. It's actually the only reason for a slot as the size see you.

  • I can't find the slot of memory for the Satellite S70-B-10V

How can I upgrade my memory to laptop? It is not a memory slot at the bottom of the laptop.

As already mentioned by Timox: there is no separate access to the memory locations.
The slot of memory and HARD disk access is hidden under the hood.
So to put level memory and other parts, the laptop must be disassembled and the bottom cover must be removed along with other pieces as ODD, battery, etc.

It is a bit tricky, but the most important fact is that the removal of the bottom cover could void the warranty, and I guess you don t want to lose the warranty.
Any hardware upgrade must be performed by the authorized service provider.

  • HP pavilion 15-p153nm: I can't find the second slot of memory RAM... pls help

So I bought the new laptop (hp pavilion 15-p153nm), in the shop where I bought it says that this laptop have two memory slots, so I buy the new 4 gb ddr3 ram card and wanted to put in the free memory slot, but when I opened the laptop that I couldn't find free one slot... so my question is where is this second slot... I use other products (printers and laptop computers HP etc.) for 10y and if this is an hp error and they didn't put the second slot in this notebook, I'll be very disappointed.
And yes I find manual for this laptop, I opened this laptop from this manual and he drew two memory cards but its all is said about memory cards. I have pictures of the laptop and everything and I will put them here.

    Configuration software Specy

It says that I have a free slot? but I still don't see.

Now I'll put pictures of the laptop inside

    under the keyboard

Other side of the main card

    Under the motherboard

So pls help me to solve this mystery of the second memory slot.

And sry for my English isn't my main language.

TNX for helping me. Good bye

There is no second slot of memory in this model specification.

You need to replace the module installed with a capaity module above uppgrade the memory capacity.

On the three t pageit the manual describes two locations only on some models. It does not describe what models they are.

  • HA Admission Control Policy - slot sizes

    Hello

I just want to ask everyone on the Slot sizes in HA.

Somehow, I understand that slot sizes are determined with the underlying physical servers and the allocation of resources to virtual machines or reservation (as appropriate). But according to the comment, I noticed sometimes the 'differences' specifically in the Slots of Cluster Total, used and available places.

Total number of connectors Cluster is not always equivalent to the sum used and available places. It may be more or less at the same time.

Can someone explain it to me more detail? Appreciate your help on this. TIA!

In this particular case, could it have been that HA was later activated on a cluster who suffered many virtual machines power? Or maybe the virtual machines have been powered when admission control has been disabled, then admission control has been activated again? That would be wise.

    Scott.

  • investigating the slot sizes and ESX and ESXi 4 4 classic

I was looking for to set the AP following advanced settings option:

    das.slotCpuInMHz

    das.slotMemInMB

The reason why because that I don't use of tickets in a few groups of ESX host, but I don't want the slot by default size to use.  So I have a cluster of the armies of ESXi4 and went in the advanced options of the AH and set these parameters, and when I go under Advanced tab LENGTH info summary of cluster slots have clearly changed.  When I try to do the same process on a classic cluster ESX 4, by adding in the settings for the advanced options of the AH, nothing changes in the advanced performance info.  It's as if the settings do not work with ESX classic 4.  These functions only work on ESXi 4 and not ESX 4 classic?

You can change the size of the slot, but be careful with these settings. Think twice before you edit and do not set a level of memory.

  • How to open the cover slot of memory on Satellite M60?

    Hello

I want to add memory in my M60, but I do not understand how to access the inside... It seems easy to open the back of the drive hard, but for the record, I unscrew and after, the "door" stay in place and do ' t want to be removed...

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, it is easy to remove the cover of the memory at the bottom of the unit.
I don't think that a single screw covers the memory slot cover. Remove this screw and use something thin and flat to remove the cover

The details, you should find in the user manual (in my user manual I ve instruction)

  • Satellite L550D-136 - how many slots should memory be?

    Hello

I bought this system as my first laptop from Toshiba.
    Satellite L550D-136
    Part number: PSLXSE-00E00SY4

I visited crucial.com to verify what type of memory I can put in this laptop and he came back with the result that it could not identify exactly what type of system it is but is to show that this laptop has 4 memory slots. So I went ahead and it opens from the bottom and I see only two slots (2x2gb).

Is there some more hidden across what locations they mob or is it information crucial false?

I can't find a proper documentation on the toshiba Web site.

    Thank you

I have the HP document that shows both modules of memory of 4 GB, it takes in the memory slot 1 and the other in the memory slot 3 for the proper functioning of the memory double channel.  All together right?

Not quite.  In the Elitebook 8540w, primary under the keyboard memory locations are clearly labelled '1' and '2' However, the locations of memory expansion on the underside of the chassis are also clearly labelled Opps '1' and '2 '!  There is no '3' and there is no '4' in which three vacant slots we installed the second module of 4 GB for the proper functioning of the dual memory channel?

  • A MMC stuck inside the slot of memory card in DV2 laptop

I wanted to put a MMC console in the card slot. Not only it did not work, but he also went inside the slot & more I tried, more it happened.

    What should I do?

BTW in the slot, it is written ' SD.MS/PRO. MMC XD '.

It does not mean that it is compatible with MMC cards?

All except the larger format flash media cards need adapters. Most of the cards, as the ultra II Micro SD cards have included adapters. The following image is of the adapter supplied with an Ultra II Micro SD card I use in my HTC Desire HD.

The micro SD card fits into a slot under the SanDisk Word. This adapter fits into my loan HP dv7-4180ea and 5-in-one media SD in my laptop Toshiba Satellite. Unfortunately, you will need to gently remove the card yourself or have to take it to a store.

  • Of XC-704 & upgrade memory expansion slot

    1 expansion slot

What is the specification of expansion slot for this model we would like to add a dedicated with DisplayPort graphics card?

    2 memory

How many slots does memory have on the motherboard?

What type of memory is needed?

What is the maximum memory supported by the motherboard?

OK, sorry raising model in Kingston and a few other sites did not show your computer and see that I had not seen everything I was confused. Based on what I found maybe a model from other countries.

That said, it seems that it comes with 2 gigabytes of Ram DDR3L and evolutionary 8Gig

Also, it seems that yours comes with 1 PCI Express Slot x 16. I'm not sure with the power supply and that is there if you would be able to switch to a different graphics card GPU and size of the case would impose a huge limit on what might be able to adapt...

  • Size of the slot and the "missing" host RAM

    I was check the control admission HA on our cluster configuration and there is something that annoys me. We always use 'no failover hosts' as our policy, that is why the slots are used. The size of the slot on our cluster is what I expected, but is not the number of slots. We seem to be having less slots I expect. For example;

We have five hosts in a cluster, each with 48GB of RAM for a total of 240 GB

A slot size is 2246 MB of RAM (I'm ignoring CPU isn't a constraint)

So I expect 240/2,246 = 107 locations (at least approximately). What I get is 90 slots.

Adding the RAM allocated to those 90 slots comes only 200 GB - what happened to my lack of 40 GB of RAM? The overhead of virtualization VM is included in the size of the slot. Because it is a cluster five host we are missing about 8GB per host (on 48 GB) - it's a 16% heavy. I thought that Frank Denneman covered this before (perhaps it is covered in his latest book on HA/DRS?) but if so I can't find it now.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

    Thank you

    Ed.

One thing to point out is that the number of places available in the cluster of calculation by dividing the total of the memory of the size of the slot is a shortcut which will give inaccurate results slightly - in particular, it will tend to give a little more slots that HA will show. HA actually calculates total slots by dividing the available memory for each host by the memory slot and then summing up the results. This may cause some resources on each host to "lose" If the available memory is not a multiple of the memory slot. The computation of the global memory resources, you can see slots that are in fact the combination of these 'wasted resources' on hosts but from a virtual machine running only with 1 host at a time (discount FT) these locations should be thrown out. Hope that makes sense assuming that your hosts are all the same, you can determine available memory by dividing the number of hosts of global memory if it cannot be completely accurate. You cannot view the exact memory available to a host when it is in a cluster - VC shows that aggregate (sum on all hosts) resources. You can connect a client the VI to a host directly and go to the tab for the allocation of resources to display the available memory.

  • Tecra 8100 - slot memory B do not work

    Hello

I recently bought a Tecra 8100 and I decided to upgrade the ram from 128 to 512.
I did not buy good modules, but in any case, when I opened the laptop, I discovered that I had 2 modules of 128 MB...
    I did some tests:
-1 module in the slot, he was allowed (128 detected)
-1 module on the slot B, nothing happened, the laptop won't start...
    -switch modules, always 128 detected
That's why I think that my slot B is dead...
Someone has any idea what I can do?
Maybe a bios update will do... I have yet to try this...
Furthermore, what is the combination of keys to access the bios?

    Hello

There is not much to do if the slot B is defective. If you don? t want to repair you can use the module in slot A memory of 256 MB. The number of compatible 256 MB module is PA3051U-1NME.

BIOS settings, which you can open by using the ESC key.
