Slow cooling switch fan turns very frequently on Satellite Pro A60

I own an A60 Pro of the Satellite with 512 MB of RAM. I observe that the cooling of the processor fan fires often enough even if I do not use the PC and no application is running with the exception of some services (like antivurs).
I also observed that the closing phase is quite slow (a few minutes). I don't know if it is related to overheating prblem.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance
Marco

Hello Marco

It is not possible to give you an accurate diagnosis, but please check the background all running processes. Maybe a lot of them are useless but force the activity of the CPU and the CPU must be cooled.

Of course close phase needs a lot of time to stop all the processes underway. Check some of these activities and disable Windows startup for all processes, you do not need.

    Hi James

You wrote that you have the laptop less than a year, so my question is this is already cleaned it?
The laptop needs to be cleaned every 3-4 months and I do this every 3 months. Whenever I do I m wondering how much dust out and after this procedure the portable is a lot cooler.

  • Question about the use of the Satellite Pro A60 fan

    Hello

I intend to get a Satellite Pro A60 and I was wondering how much the fan turns on.

Could someone comment if the fan turns on when the machine is totally inactive, and how he lights up when the machine is used for word processing and surfing the web?

For example, when using normally does the fan turn on 1/10th of the time, or 1/2 time etc.?

    Thanks in advance,
    Pete.

    Hello

Sorry I can't give you specific information about the cooling fan. A60 is known to me. It's a very nice laptop. Cooling vent is in reverse I am a pretty that there is no background noise.

If you make the decision to buy it, look at what the capacity of the HARD drive is too high and that the DVD-ROM can burn a lot of different formats (DVD Super Multi drive).

Have lots of fun with it.

  • Satellite Pro A60 had been getting very hot

My Satellite Pro A60 had been getting very hot (especially on the upper right corner).

I also noticed for several months that the fan never stops and it very is nosiy.

    Is this normal?

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

    Hi Jay,.

Continuous fan activity high speed could well indicate that the dust blocks the heat sink. Try to blow through the exit gates to clear any dust or otherwise try to use a hose of household vacuum on the suction air grids.

Your laptop will have a thermal trigger installed to cut the current if the temperature becomes too high to avoid any damage.

Finally, make sure your laptop is enough space adjacent to the air intakes for the ventilation of air to enter.

  • No switch wireless on Satellite Pro A60

I just bought (second hand) a satellite pro A60EN PSA65E 01HOOU8K model number. There is just a cavity where the wireless communication switch should be. Does this mean that I can't use a wireless router?

    Hi David

Some of the Satellite Pro A60 was delivered with a minPCI wireless network card and some do not support the WLan functionality.
It seems that you have one that does not support the WLan. This is why you must use an external solution such as WLan USB stick

    Hello

The Satellite notebooks come with a different hardware configuration.
Sometimes different series use the same notebook covers.

After a lengthy investigation on the internet I discovered that the Satellite Pro A60 was delivered without the LAN card internal minPCI and it seems that the WiFi network is not extensible.

It seems that your only option to use WLan on your laptop.
I advise to use the WLAN USB key or card PCMCIA Wlan.

  • Cooling M30X-125 fan turns very often if the USB device is connected

    Hello
I used USB devices with my M30X-125 during a few months and noticed that as soon as I connect a USB mouse or printer with external power supply power supply cooling fan works very often. With no device USB cooling fan is very "calm".
I've updated the BIOS with the latest 1.90 out and changed its settings (reduce the processor speed) of the effect of Utility. No of power on this fan cooling issue management.
Can you help me please in order to limit the work with the connected USB device cooling fan?
    Concerning

    Hello Phil

I put t really believe that there are many options to do better. Of course if you use a USB device, the CPU usage goes over the limit of use and produce more heat.

Try to check all the processes running and finish a useless manually.

  • Cooling fan does not work on Satellite Pro A300

    Hello world

I was asked by a friend to repair their Satellite Pro A300, because their CPU cooling fan had stopped working even during the start of the POST and the laptop could overheat and shutdown. So I thought it might one of three things:
    # Fan is obstructed by dust or dirt
    # Rolling fan failed
    # Fan power cable was loose

So I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the fan/radiator with compressed air and check the connection of the supply, which was solid, but this does not solve the problem, so I replaced the fan and the heatsink with another that I knew worked from the same model laptop that had a motherboard fault due to the bug of password to start random bios (out of warranty) but still no joy.

I'm starting to believe that the fan was perfectly fine rather motherboards temperature of the processor or the sensors that control the activation of the fan has failed.
Am I correct in thinking that it is essentially, irreparable without specialized tools and my friend will be content themselves to turn the system off each hourish or is there something else I forget?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

I m not a technician, but for me, looks like the fan connector is working properly if you already replaced the fan and therefore, it would be necessary to replace the motherboard

That s all I can say about it having a look for second mainboard or laptop where you can get a motherboard cheap. Maybe it works. :)

How much time do you have this computer? I ask, because it is possible that your fan is clobbed with dust. If you need to clean your system of cooling as soon as possible to ensure that no dust is your machine so noisy.

A good way to do it is to buy a can somewhere in an electronic market with compressed air and blow some air trough the cooling system to remove dust from the cooling components (heatpipe, fan´s, end, etc.).

Then, your machine should run much quieter. But if not, then please send your machine to a partner of service agreed with the advice to check the cooling system and thermal grease on the processor.

Here´s a link to a index of ASP to find nearest partner service available in your country:

  • Satellite pro A60 - slow?

I just bought a satellite A60 pro (processor Celeron D 2.8 GHz, 190 MB of RAM) and I know that's not the laptop more sophisticated in the world, but it is much slower than I expected

It is as slow as my old PC that has only a pentium 3 and slower than the powerbook to my roommate who has only a 1.5 GHz processor

Is that what I can do to speed it up?

    Hi Razzle,

In my opinion, it's a beautiful machine. Maybe not enough RAM (256 MB), but enough for WXP works correctly. Another feature of this machine is shared video memory and you can't wait until you have a powerful graphics card and play games of new generation with a lot of graphic details.

Did you also install software which can be one of the reasons that laptop running slowly?
My suggestion is that you can buy more RAM (e.g. 256 MB Memory Expansion) at http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com. In addition, disable all Applications and processes that you don't need. Many of them running in the background and do NB slow.

If you find the best solution to make your NB faster let me know. I will be grateful for useful information.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A60: Slow start

I just did a clean install from the recovery disk hoping this may cure the problem of him take 10 minutes so that it starts on the desktop, but it always takes some time. I can now assume that I have a clean update, I only have the bare minimum installed and certainly not virus, spyware, malware or anything else, that does not in my view I had, but felt I had to go through this excersise anyway.

Although he has only 256Meg of RAM it is always used to start much more quickly a few months back so I was wondering if Toshiba had driver updates that had addressed this issue? I looked in the driver downloads, but I can't say if what publishes the update made dealing with.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Keith (South end)

    Hello

Maybe the performance is reduced to avoid overheating.
Maybe you have to clean your cooling system.

Either by the way, you should think of the memory upgrade. 256 MB is not really much.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A60 has just turned off and won't come back

My Satellite A60 laptop just turned off and will not go there is nothing no sound no lights nothing.it ran on sector when it happened.

    any help apreciated

    Hello, Heidi

Remove the battery, connect your laptop adapter only and try starting your laptop running. When the laptop boot and OS is fully loaded, wait a few minutes and reinsert the battery.

If everything is OK look carefully if the battery will be charged correctly and when battery LED is green (fully charged battery) try to turn off your laptop as usual. Turn it back on and carefully monitor what is happening exactly.
