Slow network preferences

Hello

For some reason any, whenever I click on the icon WiFi at the top right that it takes a good 2-3 seconds for the menu to appear which shows the currently connected network, etc... and then when I select "Open Network Preferences" on the bottom of this menu it takes forever for interfaces to appear. For 20-30 seconds, it appears as below:

Finally, all interfaces appear but it is really slow to change any settings here. It's the same if I go into the system preferences-> network. All other components are preferably fast and the rest of the operating system is fast and behave normally. It started when I upgraded to 10.11.5.

This is what appears in the console until the interfaces to load:

Network engineer, it makes me a little crazy.

Any suggestions?

Go to System Preferences > network > open the lock by entering the username and password > click on the gear icon > choose make active service > set the order of service

  • Network preferences keep resetting, cannot change or update

This has been fixed, but I couldn't find where someone else had a similar problem, so I thought I would describe the problem and how I got around him.

The problem is after the installation of El Capitan (upgrade from Mavericks), upgrade wiped out my network configuration. It took me a while to realize that he had activated my WiFi and erased my wired ethernet config. When I went into system-> Network Preferences and tried to enter values, I couldn't enter anything, because he would have reset my entries or interrupt me with a dialog box until I can finish. I couldn't change any settings, even the manual settings.

The cause of this problem is that, my Mac Pro for a reason, not connecting not reliable to my gigabit switch Gigabit speed. My other computers do, but not the Mac Pro. The easy solution is to manually configure the adapter to use 100 Mbps and it then connects reliably. (I tried different cables, etc..) El Capitan wouldn't let me configure the adapter for 100 Mbps. He kept just reset the config on auto.

After reboot and around hunting for preference files to remove, I diverted the ethernet connection to my 100 Mbps router, so the adapter would choose 100 Mbps. Once I did that network preferences has allowed me to enter an IP address, subnet mask, router, DNS, etc., while I couldn't before. I went to the hardware configuration and selected manual config/100Mbps on the adapter. He may also have worked just to unplug the cable and configure the adapter when you are not connected. It seems that the system continuously tries to connect to 1000Mbps and reset, which resets the pane preferences constantly, not to let whatever it is automatically registered.

As far as I am concerned, this is a bug. I have not encountered this before El Capitan. However, it is unlikely that Apple will resolve this anytime soon, because it requires you to have some sort of marginal hardware configuration that causes the adapter to think he can connect to 1000Mbps and then immediately fail to do.

    This has been resolved.

  • USB disappeared from network preferences

USB no longer appears as a network option to connect to my iPhone 6 per Hotspot. I turned turned & on iTunes; I downloaded and reinstalled iTunes; I turned off & on my MacAir & my iPhone, wifi Hotspot off & clicked on the small + button in prefs network looking for USB... nothing. Start Safe Mode removes the system caches that can help.

Upper left corner of your screen, click on the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key. You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

  • No Wifi symbol in my menubar, network preferences or utilities. Can anyone help?

I have a Mac Pro from early 2008. I am running Yosemite 10.10.5. I want to connect to my Panel solar sitter to the Mac via Wifi, but I can't, for the life of me, find any reference to Wifi anywhere on my Mac. There is no symbol in the menu bar, nothing in the applications, utilities, or anywhere where I can see. In ' about this Mac' Panel, it shows Wifi under network, but non-material. Network, in the preferences system, it shows no reference to Wifi or Airplay anywhere, so I can't allow it. I used the search on the Mac, but it returns no results. I am connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable. I would assume Wifi will present on the list in Network preferences, but there is nothing. Am I missing something or is there no Wifi on this machine? Any advice would be appreciated.

Go to System Preferences > network.  Basically, there should be a box that you check: Show Status of Wi - Fi in the menu bar.

    Ciao.

  • Slow network

    Just a general question...

Sometimes, I noticed that our server files on the network of our company is extremely slow sometimes. How do you guys go about programming for speeds of slow network on your internal network and the occasional usage over the WAN?

First, the express screws are usually very inefficient. I would use the ex file directly. Secondly, it seems that you write to the file in the same spot (part of your code) you do your job. As I mentioned above, you need to separate the file of transformation in its own task. In LabVIEW, this will be a parallel to the main loop loop. Transmit the data to be logged on to the task of logging via a queue. You can find examples for the use of the files and the use of queues in the examples of the expedition. You can also look at the examples of the architecture of producer/consumer. What I am proposing is essentially a producer/consumer build. It would also be useful in the future if you include the code you are having trouble with. It is easier to give advice when we can comment directly on your code, rather than just giving generic answers.

  • E3000 slow network

    Hey all,.

I just upgraded to an E3000 to a WRT54G and I'm having some trouble with the speed of the network.

I have no special settings and even tried to restore the default settings and upgrade to the latest firmware, nothing done.

Time, I notice that the biggest success is when transferring files locally on the network (WiFi and LAN).

Let me see that I don't know the difference between MB/s & Mb/s and other...

I have Comcast 20 MB/s down, 1.5 MB/s up (just an info, the main issue is transfer the)

With the default settings, my laptop (ASUS N82JQ, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter), connects to the router to only 65 MB/s (with full signal).

Download seems to be more decent ~600KB/s (file transfer wireless-n laptop desktop gigabit).

Download seems to be limited to ~150KB/s (copy of files from the wired desktop to the portable wireless n gigabit).

These speeds are horrible! ~ 5 hours of 3GB of data transfer!

One of my laptops had a card that has been able to the 2.4 & 5 Ghz and I was previously receiving ~2000-5000KB/s transfers (2-5 MB/s) with this router (but I had to do a system restore on it and reset the router). My ASUS laptop seems to work only with 2.4 Ghz however. If I change the 2.4Gh the wireless settings of the router to "Auto (20 MHz or 40 MHz)" the laptop connects at 150 MB/s, but the speeds are the same slow as speeds above.

    Desperately need help.

    Dave

OMG... I found an answer, when I was reading this thread:

    http://www.ads-links.com/index.php/how-to-fix-Windows-Vista-slow-network-transfer.html

I had already eliminated the possibilities of the Antivirus/Firewall... But still had the problem.
I saw the post of "alex on September 4, 2007" talk to disable IPv6 and QoS on the properties of the adapter...

I tried turning off on my connection LAN Gigabit and Whoosh! I'm ~54MB/s! Much, much, much better than 150 KB/s.

I turned QoS on the LAN adapter and I always get good speeds... So, that tells me there is something to do with IPv6 between the router and the computers that something is not love.

I have yet to reset the settings of my WiFi (I did a firmware update and factory default), but it is expected... I will report my findings!

Edit: Disabled IPv6 on the adapter wireless and re-tested... and guess what 9 + MB/s! YES!

So, the next question is, why don't the router plays well with computers that have IPv6 installed/activated?

  • Hyper-V slow network

Dell PowerEdge T420, Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V installed and one configuration of virtual machine 2008 R2 in the Hyper-V environment. Two network cards on the T420 are connected to the same Gigabit switch, one for the use of the physical machine and the other for the virtual network.

The only thing that is made in the virtual machine of desktop Services remotely, then end users into running a program of medical records that accesses a database on completely separate server. The physical server just Hyper-V, a domain controller and DNS.

With no activity, ping'ing the prompt of the physical machine or vice versa or a separate database of the guest PC server, we have less than 1 ms response time. However, if there is no activity in the guest OS, ping times vary drastically - between 1 and ms 200 ms.

I have different power cuts disabled virtual network adapters properties, but this does not seem to make a difference. Looking at the monitor of resources on the VMS, there is generally less than 5% of the CPU and 10 percent of the memory used, and the network traffic when the application is running is less than 100 Kbps (usually less than 50 Kbps).

On the physical server, the CPU traffic & network are basically the same as the virtual machine, with 80 percent of the memory used (since it is all attributed to Hyper-V).

Any thoughts on how to solve the slow networking?

    Thanks in advance!

The solution to the problem is revealed to be...

Broadcom NICs in Dell servers have a "Tails of Virtual Machine" which is by default enabled setting. Once disabled, the guest operating system has the same network as the physical machine speed.

  • Workstation 9 - slow network performance between the host and guest

I am running windows 8 on the host and installed by 9 trial. Then installed windows 8.1 as a comment system.

I'm a slow, very slow network between the two.

If I send files to and from the computer with another guest, transfers are normal, but if I try the same files between the host and the guest, they are really slow.

    I use a bridge connection.

I read elseware to disable the following on the guest card:

    Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)

    Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)

    But that did not help.

    Thoughts?

Maybe then try Hyper-v, it help you better.

  • Very slow network performance

I have a Dell T610 running ESXi 4 with a pair of built in maps network gigabit Broadcom BCM 5709, to which I've also added a gigabit dual port Intel 82576 NIC they are all plug a Cisco 3560 24 ports switch. There are a couple of virtual machines on this computer and there was near zero, a network, or activity of the CPU during the following tests as they were made during off-peak hours.

I noticed a few updates takes a long time to download and, after completed and restarting the virtual machines, I decided to perform a speed test that indicates the very slow network performance. But the performance is slower on one NETWORK card to another. Reduce the ports available to virtual machines on a single NETWORK card, that's what I got.

Using Speedtest.net as a gauge running on a dedicated XP Guest:

The Broadcom and Intel befriended 5Mbps showed and sometimes 10 Mbps.

Only Broadcom showed between 13-18Mbps from one trial to another.

Intel showed only 4-5 Mbps. never more than 5 Mbps!

Physical work stations connected to the same switch showed 45Mbps repeatedly!

All ports were originally configured as auto negotiate. I tried locking time ESXi and the Cisco switch to 1 GB Full duplex with no significant difference in the overall performance.

Has anyone seen this? Have you found a solution?

I got a similar promblem - found that the VM - NIC has been set at the 'flexible' type and VM-Ware tools were not properly installed.

As I was not able to install (linux, no gcc), I've removed the NETWORK card and put in again as an adapter 'e1000 '. From here, I had transferrates as expected ;-)

    I hope this helps...

  • AT200 - slow network after update 4.0.3

    Hi all

Since the last update 4.0.3 my Wifi network is very slow.
    Hard Reset solves the problem.

I try Fixer Wifi from the Android Market application, is better but reseting Wiff network every 5 minutes.

It seems that the problem is also known on other hardware platforms.

    Anyone have a solution?

    Thank you.

    Stcren

What I've read on other platforms was mainly either a factory reset or forget/remove the Wifi configuration and returning it. Like you did a hard reset should not be more useful.

Have you checked your WiFi connection also with other access-points/routers?

    My basic proposals:

    (a) improve the performance of your router in the 2, 4 GHz. Then search for channels already occupied (from routers in the neighborhood) and move to a free channel in the configuration of the router.

    (b) If you have some basics of TCP/IP networks and then manually set your IP address in the Tablet Wifi-settings. This should at least speed up the reconnection (required DHCP negotiations) and maybe keep the connections don't break as the local ip address does not change.

  • OfficeJet 8720, scan to folder very slow network. any tips?

I just upgraded to Officejet pro 8600 to 8720.

The 8720 prints well, but it is incredibly slow for scanning.   Can't believe how slow it is compared to other HP products I've used.

Is there advice, suggestions on how to speed up scanning?  Or do I need to buy a more expensive model for a faster sweep.

    Please notify.  Thank you.

    Hi @atomarchio,

I was check in this issue and found a number of things that can help.

Replace with the IP address of the computer that hosts the folder targets of network for the name of this computer.  For example, if the network path is listed as \\david\8670scans, change it to read \\192.168.1.102\8670scans.

Turn on the printer and try again.

Check out this post from @djjaeger82, Officejet Pro 8720 - slow Scan to network folder.

  • W510: Initialization of the slow network

    Hello

I had a problem with my W510 that annoyed me because I have and it's the network always seems to take about 60 seconds to connect when I start.

Little matter if it's my connection Wireless at home or in the office, nor does it matter if it's Wired, it's the same slow behavior.

My other devices have no problem connecting, and it's a real pain waiting around for her, especially when with my previous laptop, I didn't even think about it.

I contacted the support, but he did direct me in the path of diagnoses that say there is nothing wrong.

Anyone else have experiences similar with their W510 or better yet, to know how to fix it?

    Concerning

    Andy Wu

It turns out that it was a software problem.

I have uninstall everything that touches the network remotely and it wasn't until I uninstalled VMWare Workstation Network began to respond more quickly, as it should.

Hope that helps someone else who falls on the same issue.
