Slow satellite 1VJ-C855

Hello

We recently bought this PC with Windows preinstalled 8. Everything works, but is quite slow. For example to start microsoft solitaire collection takes more than 5 seconds, and then it takes another 5 seconds once selected a game before he could start.
We also have a 3 years satellite 350 d with half the memory, the slower CPU and graphics card and it runs a lot faster.

A more professional example: during the audit of the antivirus of Trend Housecall, the old PC made in about 3 hours. A new with less than half of the data on it, requires more than 6 hours.
In Control Panel, I changed even the option of better graphics for optimal performance without remarkable result.

I watched a lot in a numbeer of settings without results.
Also note that we do not load many programs at startup.
Help, please

> We also have a 3 years satellite 350 d with half the memory, the slower CPU and graphics card and it runs a lot faster

Well, I don t think that your Satellite 350 d has win 8 installed ;)
Hardware configuration is important, but also the pre-installed software can affect performance.
So if you want to compare laptop s / s performance computer you must ensure that both machines use the same operating system, same tools, same software.

I think there are a lot of processes running in the background.
This could slow down the system.

Finally, a HARD disk failure can cause these delays too so maybe the fitness of HARD drive needs to be tested
I test my HARD drive using a free tool called Drive Fitness Test

  • Re: Performance very slow Satellite C855-1GN - startup procedure takes 15 min

My sister bought a Satellite C855-1GN installed with Win7 64bits in December (typical - 4 days of warranty now) and for a time found it getting more slower.

She asked me to take a look for her, and she is quite right, that this laptop is appalling insensitive to even the most basic tasks such as opening Windows Explorer, which takes more than a minute to open.

It's a similar story about any button on this machine, sometimes longer depending on what has been clicked. Getting even the startup thing of press office being visible (and even less usable) takes a staggering 15 minutes more.

Text input, such the password of user to connect to Windows, or a URL in any browser (IE and chrome installed by default) causes the circle of rotation equivalent to an hourglass at least 60 seconds before anything happens, as does pretty much any click button. For example, Windows Start button or right click on anything whatsoever.

Initially, I suspected some kind of malware / too much garbage installed. A ran full scans, no problem. Disabled / uninstalled all the bloatware, that I could find, still no difference.
Close all the features, always terribly slow for energy savings.

Windows experience / Task Manager / resmon all report nothing out of the ordinary or anything by eating resources. In desperation, provided Out Of Box Experience with the help of the hidden restore partition... who took more than 24 hours to complete, and is not an exaggeration.

I went to bed, then work during the day, and he had not yet finished until I had been home for a couple of hours.

This machine now has a completely new (although specific Toshiba) install Win7, and runs just as horribly slow. I'm still waiting for the office, 17 minutes after power on before typing this. It took several resets and is yet to install anything.

6 GB of RAM is ample. While not a P3, 5 or 7, there is no way that an Intel B950 double heart clocked to a class, certainly not top than 2.10 GHz can be this slow (that is a few months ago), I had the terrible Celeron in my time, which were infinitely faster than that.

Has anyone else had a performance of same pathos of this model? If so, we are anyone of you is able to solve it? Or should we bin just this paperweight?

    Hello

In the past, we've discussed several times on similar problems, and some people were dissatisfied with the performance of the portable nine pre-installed with original recovery image.
Small example, you can check this thread. In general it is described you can do with this machine. You, I prefer to use the word optimize operating system preinstalled. It will run better and faster.

Otherwise it can also be problem with HARD drive. If your sister love this machine, I recommend a small investment in new hardware. Exchange HARD SSD drive. SSD aren't so cheap anymore so you can buy one, I would say, with 250 GB and I think that there is enough free space for their work.

You can't imagine how fast they are. I use on my old P500. Laptop starts in just 40 seconds.

I m pretty sure with new SSD and optimized original Win7 that you got your sister with this laptop will have a good and pretty fast machine.

  • C55D-A-149 - Windows 8.1 desperately SLOW satellite

Hi, I have been asked to Toshiba USA this post here because my laptop is a European model.

I recently received this laptop, if it is still new and so is the installation.

The laptop is TOSHIBA SATELLITE C55D-A-149. I realize that it is a budget laptop and processor is quite low. But still, it came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and as much as I know Windows 8.1 is not optimized for laptops / tablets slow but mine is a very bad performance.

Startup is slow, file manager is slow, reducing a window takes to always and so forth.

To determine where the problem is that I ran a cross-platform of reference on my machine, which is on Windows and on linux Ubuntu. I used a live CD to run Linux without installing it. The reference tool used was Geekbench3: http://www.primatelabs.com/geekbench/

The benchmark results can be seen here: http://browser.primatelabs.com/user/87755

And we don't know how Windows 8.1 is trolling.

What is the reason for this poor performance?

If Windows 8.1 is really the problem would it be preferable for me to remove it and install Windows 7? But I don't want to lose my authentic copy of 8.1 because it is what guarantees the next Windows 10 free update. Is it possible to partition the hard drive and does not lose the recovery partition?

    What are my options now

Well, the Satellite C55D-A-149 was equipped with the fast processor 1 GHz AMD Essentials E1-2100

This processor does not provide the best performance... so its necessary to change the system to obtain an appropriate return for laptop.
First first of al I recommend you clean the system using the CCleaner. Its freeware software and it allows you to clean the registry, as well as to remove "garbage" and the files stored time.

In addition, you could disable some background processes and tasks that are not really necessary...
I think this should help you to get the system working well.

With regard to the installation of Win 7:

If you want, you can install Win 7... the new installation of the OS can be useful, but all additional software would not be installed automatically, you can choose between the unique utilities...

  • Satellite 2HW C855: win 8-10GB recovery partition can be removed?

For my Satellite C855-2HW with Win 8 OEM, I would like to a partition to separate data in addition to the OS + programs.
At present 4 scores are already in use.
First 450MO partition recovery, the second a third EFI 260 MB, of the score of 920 GB operating system partition, and the fourth a 10 GB recovery partition.

Now that I've done of recovery with "Toshiba Media Recovery Creator" DVDs, I can remove the recovery partition right?
Can you only do this for an external support as with Diskpart or Gparted?

It takes to this partition for media files; Photos, documents, music, movies, etc.

What is the best way of all this?
    Cheers, boris.

    > Now that I did with 'Toshiba Media Recovery Creator' recovery DVDs, I can remove the recovery partition right?

Yes. After changing the structure of the partitions probably you won't be able to use the HARD drive recovery facility more. This was the case in the past. In any case, now you have recovery DVD and you can install the recovery using these DVD image.

  • C50-A628 slow satellite operation

    Good day everyone.

Sorry if this post is in the wrong section, but, please help.
I know that perhaps some people might think this as a waste of time, or just something you could find in google, but for all * 7 months *, I tried to understand why my new laptop is slow.

Because this laptop comes without a pre-installed operating system, there is no restore disk or disk factory reset. For the first months of the use of my laptop, it was running windows 8.1 + pro +.

Whenever I use it, it opens everything good, except when my browser is open. everything becomes unstable and unresponsive. After a few seconds not responding, I can use it again as long as I have no multitasking. I installed the latest graphics drivers and a few apps, but that's all. I thought it was a problem with windows 8 on 5 days, so I went down to + windows 7 ultimate 64 bit +.

Now I'm starting to think that maybe the problem is the drivers since I did not install the required drivers for the laptop, because it did not come with reset disk and drivers.

So now, I would like to ask for help on this issue. Please present the installation of windows 7 and all the required drivers for my laptop which is the * TOSHIBA SATELLITE C50 - A628 RUNNING WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64-bit *. (Or any idea on why this problem occurs)

Thank you and have a nice day.

    -George B.

A note: the performance of the system, in particular issues of internet browser has NOTHING to do with drivers preinstalled on your laptop. For most drivers are not the reason why the laptop is running slowly (software slowly, etc.)

Is that your C50-A628 Satellite was equipped with 2 GB of RAM.
But also a part of this 2 GB of RAM is shared with GPU: Intel HD Graphics
So less than 2 GB for the system and applications used.
To be honest; It is not sufficient to operate the system smoothly!

I recommend you to upgrade at least to 4/6 GB or more RAM 8 GB of RAM for best performance.

    Regadign download the drivers:
The Win 7 driver can be downloaded here:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
    Choose: C50 - A PSCJGF Satellite

  • Slow Satellite Pro A300-1NT

    OK

Then my ordered device an A300-1nt and a Dell e4300 for two members of our staff who arrived yesterday. Our IT Department managed the purchase and he restored to XP for us and all of our institutional and all software on board.

The a300 is really, really slow - made a few Win updates this morning and restarted; Let it install and then I rebooted again. From the moment I clicked on the restart at the same time the login screen popped up was 1'57 "and then an additional 2'53" to get to a stable and responsive bureau. " It took 54 seconds after logging in to play the login/startup sound XP. I have a Celeron 5 year, office of 2.4 GHz with only 1 GB of ram which is faster to boot, and who only had a cache of 256 KB L2 as opposed to the 3 MB of cache L2 the p8400 in the A300, and 4 GB of ram in the A300.

I have now disabled the autostart webcam as well as start-up automatic online product information and shaved only about 6 seconds, start on another reboot time.

Dell, on the other hand, is like a rocket. It's a different chip (sp9400), different chipset, DDR3 ram, but only 2 GB of ram and fsb on these two tracks is 1066 so I would have thought they would be comparable, but clearly not.

I wonder at this point so maybe our IT guy made a hash of the downgrade XP at some point or if the computer may be damaged somewhere or if the a300 is generally a slow machine - anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

What is the SATA controller mode in the BIOS? AHCI mode or compatibility?

I have the Satellite A300-1LI pre-installed with Windows XP Home Service Pack 3 (original recovery image Toshiba) and I'm happy with it. The performance is good.

  • Slow Satellite L750-1EZ

How can I get my Satellite faster, in fact is really low, reciently format, but it is not working properly, is there any sugestion?

I don t know what you mean exactly by slow but if you mean the time to access the files on the disk HARD or perhaps the transfer of files between the partitions, then you simply replace the HDD with a SSD drive. I did it in the past and my laptop runs a lot faster, smoother and quieter

  • Transmision very slow Satellite L30 - 113 (33rd PSL) LAN file

    Hello world!

After upgrading OS from Vista to XP pro work LAN Ethernet very slow (transfer of files of 100 MB, 2 hours).

    XP-drivers downloaded from toshiba - Europe.com, for model Satellite L30-113 PCL33.

    Maybe I should applay patches?
Also I can't use the PC card slot...

    Hello

The transfer of data should be the same under Vista and XP.
I think that you have installed an antivirus that scans all files during data transmission.

    Please disable it!

    By the way;
If you notice a slow, data transfer Windows Vista try disabling Remote Differential Compression
    To do:
-Start-> Control Panel-> programs and features
-Click on Turn windows features on the left side of the screen on or off
    -Off remote differential compression

  • Satellite 1z1 C855: cannot find Win 7 drivers for wireless, keyboard button, aero effects

    Hi all
    today I bought a satellite c855 1z1

This computer with Windows 8 is already installed (and with him, everything worked fine).
The problem is that I hate windows 8, I decided to remove it and install win7 Professional (original).

Well, now I have windows 7, but I have some problems to find all the drivers.

The card reader and usb port work well, but I have the problem with wifi (I can't connect to an access point, I think the problem is that I can't press the wifi on the keyboard, in fact, I can't change the light, the volume with the key on the keyboard).

This is the case on my device manager:
    http://i47.Tinypic.com/2llkldk.PNG

This driver I have web-based and installed:
    http://i47.Tinypic.com/34ht9bc.PNG

    The problem on wifi:

I don't know what I should do to fix this problem.
    Thank you very much

and sorry for my bad English

    Hello

First of all I recommend checking and reading this HowTO:
[How to identify an unknown device | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=78]

This helps you identify an unknown device such as a Wireless LAN card

But AFAIK the C855 1z1 Satellite supports the Realtek RTL8188CE Wlan card and the driver can be downloaded here:
    http://APS.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/?page=downloads

But you also need to install a Toshiba Value added Package in order to get the FN buttons works and to activate the WLan.

    With regard to other devices:
The PCI of Simple Communications controller is Intel AMT (Intel Active Management Technology) or Intel Management Engine Interface. The driver can be found on the page of Toshiba or Intel.

  • Satellite hardware C855-S5133 - upgrade question

    Hi all

I was wondering, I own a Satellite c855-s5133 and I want to upgrade my hardware to make it faster and more compatible with the new games and programs.

So the question is which is compatible with the model and what can I do to make my computer bettter.

P.s. I've already updated the 16 GB ram, and I really don't like if I'm more do.

    Thank you
    DOCTORMAN

    Hello

To be honest, you are very limited if it comes to upgrade the hardware of s for laptop.
You have already upgraded the RAM. That s OK.

You could also switch from the HDD to the SSD. This performance of the laptop from the read and write process would be much faster. Also the laptop would be faster start and would go a lot smoother.

But to be honest, for purposes of such game pass isn't very useful.

To get better game performance, you need a better graphics card, but the fact is that the GPU upgrade isn't possible.

  • Very slow Satellite Pro A100

Has just been given a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 computer laptop and it works very very slow.

When no programs are running, the Task Manager process tab indicates that the laptop is about 95% idle, but the performance tab around 50% or more.

I ran anti-virus, cleaned a lot of software that I use, XP (service pack 3) update and different drivers, but it works still slow.

I guess I have to re - install XP, but unfortunately I don't have a copy the disk recovery product that came with the laptop.

Anyone know if I will be able to get your hands on a copy of this disc.
If it helps, I have two drives available for other XP laptops that I own, but I don't think I'll be able to use them to reinstall this copy of XP using the label of serial number 25-digit number based on the laptop.

    Hello!

It is possible that it s a software problem, but it might be the case.
What antivirus or security software internet you use? Have you tried to install another, for example AntiVir?
In addition, you can do many things to improve performance. Defragment the HARD disk, disable startup programs, clean the registry for example and to this day. Google will help you learn more.

Finally and above all it is possible to order a recovery disc. So, contact the nearest authorized service provider in your country.

    Good bye

  • Slow Satellite L350

I have a Satellite L350 laptop, is starting to slow, until Windows, the sreen of toshiba stays for 5 minutes and then windows starts. When I am removing the dvd drive, it normally. Is not any problems for windows.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello
    > When I am removing the dvd drive, it normally. Is not any problems for windows.
I put t really understand what you mean exactly by saying: withdrawal of the DVD player

Did you really take the drive CD/DVD of the ODD Bay s laptop computer?
The Toshiba splash screen that appears at the beginning of the year, usually indicates this laptop is running the POST (power on self test). During this test, the hardware would be verified.

The question is: is the CD/DVD drive works and work properly?
You are able to use wisely.
If there is no problem, I suppose that the CD/DVD drive is OK and there must be another reason why the home Toshiba screen does not disappear after a few seconds

Could be the problem or the motherboard BIOS problem

  • very slow Satellite Pro 6100

    Hello

First: sorry for my English, but it's very bad * G *.

    Now my problem:
After reinstalling (windows XP), the SP6100 is very slow. The system always have 100% CPU usage regardless of what program I'm starting. It is not the bios (latest version and all the stalls on the CPU power) and not the HARD drive, I have tested yesterday night and completely zero formatted. But the problem is there too, also with linux or Windows 2000.

I don't understand, because before I reinstall the system, NB has been very rapid.

Does anyone now a response, so I put the laptop?

    Welcome,
    Bastian

    Hello Bastian

You reinstall the operating system using the original recovery CD or Microsoft WXP (full version)? As far as I know this camera comes with Windows XP Home edition Professional. Am I right about that?

There are many reasons that can make the much slower system, installation of SP2 or maybe extra software. Check please the process running in the Task Manager. Maybe there are some of them that you don't need, but can be reason for memory and CPU use.

  • Heat and a very slow Satellite A75-S211

I read on a post above that the air vents on the laptops can become dusty, so I vacumed both on the computer of my girlfriend (who is the computer problem here).

Fans were executed at the top almost constantly for some time. I managed to remove three large dust balls (had to pick them across the screens). This does wonders for the fan speed that seem normal now, and I guess that heat is better, even if I haven't used the computer much more before.

I downloaded a utility that I learned on another forum and determined that the processor was working about 40 degrees C, 104 F. I think it's maximum recommended, but I'm not sure. My questions are this (assuming the heat problem is, essentially, cured):

is there a reduced efficiency as the computer takes to guard against overheating of the processor (I'm sure there is) and should be turned "off" once the temperature problem is solved (particularly if the question was for a long time)?

are there programs diagnosis out there that can tell me if the processor is damaged by heat or any other cause?

    Thank you

    L

    Hi Larry,

Assuming you are using the Toshiba Power Management utility rather than the version of Microsoft then your laptop will usually follow a behavioral feature if the CPU is too hot.

In general, as you have already discovered, fans will increase in speed and frequency until they work at top speed for most of the time (assuming that the power management utility is set for maximum performance). If the CPU is always too hot then the laptop is finally off himself in order to avoid any damage. However it is likely that the CPU you will get even hotter since turning off also stops the cooling fans.

The Toshiba power management utility can also be set to change this behavior by slowing down the CPU in order to keep more expenses and thus reduce the noise caused by the cooling fans.

After a reboot, the power management utility must return to its designated frame, which will be all you had set it initially.

The thermal switch that controls the auto standby except in case of overheating of the CPU should have quite a high cost to ensure that the processor is not damaged.

    Kind regards
