  Smart mailboxes do not actually contain mail. They point to the messages that meet the criteria, you assign to any mailbox that they reside in. Change you your smart mailbox and compare to the messages that you say do not belong.

  Smart mailboxes have nothing to do with the rules. So is it SmartMailboxes or rules that you have problems with?

  Under macOS 10.12 Sierra: only old messages before update date are selected.

  Hi people,

  brief update: discovered that - after several days - spotlight indexing is still active. So strongly assume that this oddity Mail 10.0 is down to the indices not being ready to be read.

  I have a brand new macbook pro model El Capitan early 2015, just got it for Christmas.  I'm upgrading to an old macbook pro since about 2004.  I can't the mailbox feature smart to work on my new machine.  I returned to my old macbook and it has exactly the same settings to configure a smart mailbox as my new macbook, but I can't run on my new macbook.  I want one to isolate a specific sender to their own mailbox.  That's what I did.

  Smart mailbox name: "Emily e-mail.

  X include messages from the trash

  X include messages sent

  That's how I set it up on my OLD macbook pro and exactly what I did on my new Macbook, but no result on my new computer.

  Since the mailbox smart is a search function, you can verify that the message appears when the spotlight search and also research in the mail. If this is not the case, check the spotlight preferences and make sure email is included in index spotlight preferences.

  Hello!  I'm trying to filter my email in smart mailboxes, but I need these filtered messages to no longer appear in the main Inbox.  In most of the other applications I can simply create rules to 'move' messages in separate folders, but with Apple Mail, I can't see these files on other devices.  Any advice?

  Letters/smart folders boxes are not real letters/files boxes. Smart mailboxes are really just show you the results of the filter that you defined in the conditions of the smart mailbox.

  If you want to move the messages to a box the letters/folder, you must create the letters "non-smart" or regular mailboxes. Then, you can move messages to this mailbox, and messages will no longer be in your Inbox.

  I have a Microsoft Exchange e-mail account in Mail, with several boxes to letters and emails stored in each. The name of each mailbox corresponds to a name of a certain record/entry in a FileMaker Pro 13 database. I would like to have a button in every record/entry in the FileMaker database, once clicked to run an AppleScript script which will be open / view of the mailbox in mail for that particular record.

  For reference, I'm under FileMaker Pro 13, Mail (v9.3) on OS X El Capitan (v10.11.4).

• Smart mailboxes endangered, but get offered in context menu search

  Hello community,

  I use a lot "letters/smart folders boxes" to organize e-mail. Sometimes a "mailbox smart" simply disappeared from the sidebar, but when I search via the search box (top right) the context menu search watch box missing mailbox and when selected works. I can't find a way how to get the missing 'mailbox smart"visible in the sidebar. I recreate it, since the original "smart mailbox" had never disappeared from the system, all the recreated "the smart mailboxes" appear in the popup of search.

  So, how do I remove all duplicates, and what causes this problem in the first place.

  I tried to expand and collapse the "smart mailbox folder", restart Mail.app and reboot the laptop. I also read the old posts regarding missing "the smart mailboxes", but they are quite old.

  I am rather lost at this point, that's why I hope someone has an idea or even a solution.

  Some problems with mail are caused by iCloud drive. If you use the service, open the iCloud preferences window, click Options... next to the practice of iCloud area and in the leaf that opens, uncheck that Mail. See if there is an improvement.

  I have all my emails advertising from a mailbox smart 'ANNOUNCEMENTS', I created so I can quickly view and act on or not then trash before reading my other. (I invited these emails). I have also receive confirmations of purchase and recipes of the same e-mail addresses and add them manually to a mailbox 'Purchases', that I created for my records.

  Is it possible to keep the other mailboxes like my mailbox 'Purchases' are included by the smart mailbox, you can choose not to include messages in the trash when you configure the smart mailbox? I even tried the 'Rules' functions and no drop-down list doesn't seem to work.

  I tried the 'Archives' function, but the result is the same with the receipt emails and purchase recorded staying in smart mailbox ADS.

  Have you tried to create a mailbox on the orders of my Mac?

• Smart folders do not show sent ymail and project files.

  I have subscribed to all folders YMAIL and all smart folders to select the appropriate imap folder. Most of the names do not match the names listed when I connect directly, but some work anyway (watch in TBird but shipments it is unwanted online and it works). The sent folder YMAIL doesn't show anywhere, YMAIL folder project displayed YMAIL instead of the unified drafts folder. GMAIL and Outlook work very well.
  Reminder: YMAIL shows under Inbox, junk mail and Trash but not covered by air currents and sent.

  No fine Crusaders. I deleted the physical file using Windows Explorer. I searched and he did it before I did anything else. Then I tried a lot of things myself. Then I posted my request for help.

  I'm reasonably sure there is something wrong with the way that Thunderbird creates the MSF smart folder or IMAP.yahoo MSF file. He also had something to do with my account settings. I got it all working by changing to keep everything on my PC to keep it on the servers.

  IN CASE YOU ARE WORRIED, I ATTACHED A PICTURE OF MY SETTINGS THAT WORK AND HAVE A LITTLE RECAP OF ALL THAT BELOW.

  Problem:
  1. sent YMAIL of folder appears in the view 'All' but does not anywhere in the "smart folder. BUT even if it is not anywhere, e-mails that appear when I click on the unified "Sent" folder
  2 project YMAIL folder appears in the mode "All", but "Smart Folder" mode it sometimes shows under YMAIL, and sometimes in the smart folder.

  Unique configuration:
  1. I have two profiles and choose which use when I start T-Bird.
  2. or the profile is in the standard location. Profile with all the 3 services is located on a memory stick, so I can use it on any PC.

  Account settings: all three (GMAIL, Outlook and YMAIL) are set to the same thing.
  1 server: check to send to startup & all 60 minutes. Move deleted messages to the trash on YMAIL & GMAIL. Move to deleted in Outlook. All have empty the trash at the exit.
  2. the copies & folders: put a copy in sent premises. Keep the archives of message is not checked. Keep on local drafts drafts. Models of light up on models the.
  3 junk Settings: place new unwanted mailings on YMAIL, Spam on GMAIL, spam on Outlook and undesirable on local issues.
  4 synchronization: Kepp messages on this computer is not checked. Synchronize all messages regardless of age. Do not delete the messages.

  Junk is the only one where the T-Bird is set to put/keep e-mail on the server.

  Server properties: all records are verified to be included in global research.
  Folder subscription server status:
  1 YMAIL: Project, reception, sending mass mailings, Trash box
  2 GMAIL: Drafts, Inbox, sent Mail, Spam, Trash, all mail.
  3. Outlook: drafts, Inbox, sent, Junk, deleted.
  Online search is verified for all unified servers. And all of these answers are archived in the unified corresponding folder "choose" settings. Local folders are also checked.

  Attempted fixes:
  1 checked subscription & unified folder "choose folders". All have been verified.
  2 tried several sequense of checking and unchecking subscription and choose the folders. None worked.
  3 search help and used Windows Explorer to remove the smart folder. Restarted two times T-Bird. Sometimes it only part of his corrections on the first reboot. No change.
  4 backed up and deleted the YMAIL Sent.msf folder. T - Bird re-created before lower, but fixed no problem.
  5. save the entire profile and tried to edit the smart folder Sent.msf. No luck.
  6 restore full profile. Tried editing IMAP YMAIL Sent.msf. No luck.
  7 Retored profile and asked for help.
  8. kept trying and finally got all work to keep everything on the servers instead of my PC.

  I imported successfully several boxes to mail letters after doing a clean install of El Capitan. The only question that I have at this point is that messages sent from these accounts are all mixed box mailbox sent one.  Before the upgrade, I had a separate 'sent' folder for each mailbox.  How can I this to happen again, where each mailbox receives a separate 'sent' folder?

  If you click the arrow next to the "Sent" folder, you will see the individual sent to mailboxes.

  Have 3 on my iMac 27 "ElCapitan 10.11.2 iMAP e-mail accounts.  All 3 accounts synchronize very well on my iPad and iPhone.

  The problem is in the folder of mail sent on my iMac.  My iMac Mail.app sent the file structure has a main folder "sent", followed by 3 separate sent under folders; 1 for each IMAP account.  Mail sent to accounts 2 and 3 go to the sup of respective sent mail folder, but 95% of mail sent on behalf of 1 goes to the main "sent" folder.  Only a small number of account 1 send mail goes to the record account 1 sent mail under

  Maybe it's that you have more than one account of outgoing mail, and you send the wrong. From the Mail menu bar, you select

  ▹ mail preferences...

  The Mail preferences dialog opens. Select the composition workshop in the row of icons at the top. Since the menu option

  Send new messages to:

  choose

  Selected mailbox account

  Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the list of the mailbox. Those are research, the mailboxes not real recorded.

  If the problem persists, select the accounts in the Preferences dialog box, and then select the account assigned in the list on the left.

  In the account information pane, select the server in the menu option
