Smartphone blackBerry OS upgrade issues

I'm looking for a version upgrade of the os official and ran across this site Web ATT...

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.298 (Multilingual)

Package Version: 4.6.0.298
Composed of:

  • Applications: 4.6.0.167
  • Software platform: 4.0.0.157
  • File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel298_PL4.0.0.157_A4.6.0.167_AT & T .exe
  • File size: 93,32 MB

My questions are... EST.298 just a multilingual os which is built sur.167?

If I download, I get anything different from what I already have and it will show when I look at the 'about' under 'options '?

If it's just a language package, should I update?

Thoughts?

Thank you

Russ

1. what OS you have on your "BOLD" now? Look at the Options > on.

2 4.6.0.298 is the version of the package. Ignore simply that, for this purpose... consult the version 4.6.0.167 Applications.

3. I believe that all the OSs offered by ATT (for the most part) are multilingual. They (RIM or ATT) do not provide OS new features just because they added a new language. The new versions offer bug fixes and glitch and or some other improvements.

  • Smartphone blackBerry OS upgrade of risk?

    Hello Forum,

Is there a risk to the upgrade of the OS for the storm with the package of another carrier?  There are carriers of specific components that will impact operation on my home network?

I am very interested in the new version.148 and the promises for fixes of minor bugs from my actuelle.122 version, but I don't want to update to the risk of 'disturbing the spoilsport"so to speak... My service is through Services of telecommunications in Trinidad & Tobago, they aren't real quick with a lot no matter what... It takes months for them to set a fixed line, so I can only assume that it will be some time before they roll all upgrade version for the storm (especially since the device is in the country for a month).

So, with that said, any input?

    Thanks in advance,

    William

The only problem you might have is IF you were to need guaranteed support for your provider so that you have the version.148 on your device, and if your operator has not released it themselves. At this point, all you have to do is downgrade to their recognized release.

Otherwise, no problem to do so. I rarely ran OS release of my own carrier on any BlackBerry for the past three years.

  • Smartphones blackBerry 8220 upgraded to v.4.6.0.180 (Platform 4.1.0.61) and now I can't use Desktop Manager

I upgraded a.180 to resolve a peripheral gel during the BrickBreaker game. As expected lost all the data of the Organizer, but while I see the hand shake between Desktop Manager (version 4.7) and the Device Manager displays a connection, I cannot perform backups and worse still, cannot sync the Organizer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled software and battery shot til the cows come home. How can I recover the functionality again if this isn't just another nice phone?

    Randy

Away sometimes a problem for a little help. It turns out that the 4.6.0.180 upgrade process wiped some data from before the upgrade, but not all. The material was left out of an installation of Pocket Informant for Blackberry.

Solution was to go to [Options]--> [Advanced Options]--> [Applications] and remove the non-Blackberry files (in this case, the Pocket Informant over material). Save and Exit, reboot and the problem disappears.

  • Smartphone blackBerry Storm performance issues (and suggestions)

I want to start and say that I don't like my phone.  When it works (which is most of the time), it works fine.

But there are certainly problems of software.  As a software engineer, the OS has some memory serious management problems.  This seems to cause most of the problems I'm having with the phone.  I'm running the latest Verizon S/W (v4.7.0.148).

    Problem #1:

I am a paranoid person.  There are a lot of personal information on my phone, I have currently international calls helped that I need this feature.  So to protect me my phone is locked when it is the case or after a period of inactivity time.  It is a good practice.  Part of the draw to the fate of the Blackberry is the security that you can configure on the device (I'm not paranoid enough to allow all the protections of encryption - yet).  Problem of the storm is that it can take 1 to 5 minutes to get the phone unlocked when unholstering.  It is not an exaggeration.  As the performance of the memory gets worse, time takes more time.  If I had to make an emergency call, it could be the difference between life and death.  5 minutes is a long time to wait to call 911.  This must be corrected!

    Problem #2:

The phone must be "reset" once a day to remember "lost."  It is just poor programming.  I don't know if this problem of BB OS or Apps I'm running, but in both cases, this isn't fair.  After the reboot if I go to the display of memory under options I could have about 3-5 MB of free memory.  After a few hours of use, this will almost always '0 '.  I installed MemoryUp Pro, which seems to have extended the period of time between the battery grips, but I still don't think we should ask all owners of BB Storm to pull there battery once a day.  The other answer I get is "do not run so many Apps.  I get all my applications when finished.  Are the only ones that I continue to turn: Blackberry Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and Google Maps (Latitude).  Other applications running, you can't get out (phone, browser).  I tried doesn't work is not the 'optional' tricks and performance has not really much better.

    Problem #3:

Missed calls.  This is probably related to problems of memory above, but if the storm can be used as a phone, then I should buy something else.  Although the occurrence of this problem has gone down because I installed MemoryUp Pro and perform the reset once a day, sometimes still about 1 to 5 times.  It takes so long for the phone to 'wake up' when a call comes in (especially if it is holstered), at the time where I hit "Answer", a call has been Messaging voice or even worse, the phone doesn't ring at all.  All I get is a notification of appeal lacks the 'unknown number '.

    Problem #4:

Battery performance could be improved.  The battery that comes with the storm has about 24 hours on 24 with the Radio and Bluetooth.  Really, this isn't a problem if you know it.  I solved the problem by buying a 2700 mAh battery for extended life of BoxWave I use when traveling.  Makes the storm bit bulky, it will give me 2-3 days of life.  I don't know how this could be improved if not

I hope that the developers of RIM are trying to solve some of these performance issues.  Certain tasks should be a higher priority as they seem to have (like phone & Unlock).

  • Smartphones BlackBerry 8350i texting issue (telus) Please help!

I'm really tired of hearing about a fix in the works for the question to send SMS to the 8350i on the telus network.  I can not yet send a text or determine the sender of a text.  its been a couple of months with this another great phone, but I'm close to throwing it away.  someone at - he heard or know a specific date when this issue of texting can be resolved?  I can't yet believe that telus and or rim can not solve this problem, they understand that there are entrepreneurs who use the microphone and need a smartphone?  Maybe if they actually did one that worked, well, they would be surprised at the overwhelming sales of such a device.

lose faith in my bb, anyone has the answers?

I had a co-worker who was texting with the 8350i, but if they just recently shot I'd be upset too!

Hmmm... Well, this is the exact reason, I went to bell and came down to the MICROPHONE... TELUS is not up to date MIKE phones and are not planning on this subject.  I'm not sure why they think that mike users aren't looking for smart phones that can text?

in any case, the solution is to leave the MIKE network.

  • The 9860 blackBerry Smartphones blackberry OS upgrade seems to have stalled

I installed the Blackberry desktop app hoping to sync my calendar with my Blackberry 9860 Outlook.

I took the opportunity to update the OS on the phone but it has been blocked to 1202 1545 for 3 hours.

What can I do? He says do not disconnect or the phone will be unusable.

    Thank you.

Your device has passed the backup stage?

You may lose your data if you unplug now, but the automatic update should already taken and stored. Search your PC for all *.ipd or *.bbb files (normally saved in your my documents folder.

Don't you see the backup file dated today?

  • Smartphone blackBerry OS upgrade to 4.3 or 4.5 for BB 8830

Anyone know if there will be an update to OS 4.3 or 4.5 (support for > 4GB memory card) for the 8830?

Verizon does not support 4.5 for 8830. They are trying to get customers to buy the new phone rather than release the update (which already has blackberry) to their customers. I just spent 30 minutes be transferred everywhere and eventually "we do not support 4.5" even if its listed on the site Web of Blackberry.

  • Provisioning of the Smartphone blackBerry and upgrade to OS 4.6.0.28 2

    Hello.

I have a question about the implementation of service and services of books... Have a BB Bold (ATT) and just upgraded to OS 4.6.0.28 2 from Eastern Asia. It was recommended by members on this forum, but also the Crackberry for the many of us who have known many dropped calls.  Our calls to ATT for help and a solution fell on deaf ears. If this upgrade allows to switch between 3G and 2G EDGE. The problem was with the 3 G-2G_EDGE all swirling around trying to block a signal, etc.

Anyway, since I've updated, all right, and the phone is still a little more quickly set to 2G. But on the home screen, I have a phone ICON that says 'operation successful. To resolve this problem, contact your provider of wireless. "Obviously, I'm not with ATT.

Can someone enlighten me on this and it's going to be a problem? So far so good!

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

It makes a big difference that you didn't start with Visual Voicemail, which is a product of AT & T.

It will also make a difference as to if the message "Successful" as the quote above.

As opposed to "Unsuccessful" in your last post. Quite different.

If it is an unwanted application, follow the procedure that I gave allows you to remove the application.

If it is not an application and was pushed to your phone by AT & T, you can remove the icon but it

Will be back when you receive service books. If this is the case, simply highlight the icon, the menu key

Select hide. I put all the unused icons in a folder and then hide the folder, it provides more space

On the home screen for the apps that I use.

    Thank you

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BLACKBERRY TORCH IM ISSUE

I recently changed my phone from Blackberry BB 9000 to BB Torch 9800. Since the change over some of my contacts no. is more receive IM messages. They contacted their support and I contacted my service provider, to always have a problem. Help!

If I were you, I would go to the address book and remove these contacts entirely.
then try to send SMS to them:
    -a new SMS
-a response to an SMS they sent you

    and make sure it works.

Then go to one of the thirteen SMS and 'add a new contact' and try again.

fill out the contact data, and then try again.

  • Problem UI Smartphones blackBerry after upgrade

Just upgraded my storm yesterday and when I have the phone in horizontal position, 50% of the icons (on the initial screen) on the extreme left and extreme right are not visible.  There is a white band that scrolls up and down with the touch screen.  Is there a way to fix this or try a new upgrade?

I'm having the same problem.  I used a theme I purchased.  I return to the default setting, and I'm not having the problem now.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Bold 9780 issues navigation

    Hello

I just bought Blackberry Bold 9780 unlocked from the SHARAF DG dealer in U.A.E. and I use it with my network provider.

My camera is capable of 3G, but I'm not able to browse the internet. When I try the below msg appears.
"It is not included under the current regime of navigation via the cellular network service. To browse the web, you should use the Wi - Fi or contact your service provider to change your plan.
I have not registered to the BIS because I want to browse the net more 3 G data packages because it is tailored to my needs.
Internet works fine with a Wi - Fi connection, but when I use Blackberry App World or Opera browser I get the same msg mentioned above (even with a connected Wi - Fi connection).

    Hey mohit1986,

I suggest you contact your service provider to verify that you have the right BlackBerry Internet package that includes the Blackberry browser.

Please, we are the most people who use black berries in the Middle East

and you put your desktop in the Middle East to the Lebanon

We need to be heard, I really love RIM, but I need recognition.

Hello and welcome to the Forums!

If you're hoping that RIM will see your message - these forums are a chain of support to users, not a conduct of user-to-RIM. Therefore, it is unlikely they will see what you wrote. However, if you have specific and constructive ideas for them, I heard they accept this by e-mail to [email protected].

Understand that RIM has no unilateral control over the availability of AppWorld. On the contrary, a triad of entities must agree - RIM, wireless service provider, and Government. As the main entity to profit in this triad, I've always suspected that the RIM is not one that could hinder the process. So, what you can do, is put pressure on your company and/or your Government to allow the AppWorld in your country.

In addition, you should know that AppWorld is simply a portal, vending apps developed mainly by others. Therefore, it is not your exclusive supply source - there are others that you can try (e.g., Handango, Handmark, BPlay, GetJAR and Mobihand). I found that there are very few applications that is exclusive to AppWorld. You can see the online catalogue and then look for other sources of supply, including quite often on the developer website.

Your service provider is responsible for providing all services and support for you. No one else has no control. They need to solve this problem. You have the ultimate leverage - you pay for services they don't deliver. They have the ability (in fact, the responsibility) to escalate your case at RIM for extra support if necessary. You have no free method to request support from the RIM as the escalation of your provider.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Smartphone blackBerry OS upgrade

I have seen various links to the download of the OS "BOLD" last,.162 I think it is, but as a new BB user, I question... is necessary download from the site of the provider (if they have it available, Orange, Vodafone etc.) or you can simply download from any site? Thank you...

It is usually safer to download official for your service provider, as it is supported by them.

If you load the unofficial software, they can choose not to support you and you have yourself. However, I am running unofficial software on my "BOLD" with no problems - so it is certainly possible to do so.

You need to install the software in a slightly different way, however. Click on the link below for more information:

  • Smartphones blackBerry "BOLD" workload issues!

    Hey guys,.

Well well, for starters, im happy new owner of a bold 9780.  This is my first bb ever, please bare with me.  so after my first charge evrything nights was going as planned, full battery, no problem it will load.  so the next night, I start my ritual of charge but wake up in the morning to a warning message saying card media error, you want to repair [Yes] /no (a full battery at this time there).  After clicking Yes, my phone restarted then had a low battery red.  I plugged it back in to load and once again my truned phone off, then was a hard boot the system back.  a few minutes later I finally got to shoot almort full battery. so I continued my day as usual, with my phone saying: I've had almost a full battery, and then, without warning, it goes red and gives me a low battery warning message.  now, whenever I plug it to load it, it says I have almost complete battery, so my phone basically cannot make its choice as the battery level: @ but the worst thing is that once the usb charger in, I can't move the phone or it restarts. any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

In light of the description and the novelty of the device, I would recommend taking it for warranty evaluation.

  • BlackBerry smartphones updated software now issues:(aider!!)

Hi guys. so I've updated my software on my bb curve 8520... Well the bb desktop software had asked me to do the experience works best with my phone. but it turns out to be the opposite. I can not view my airtime balance or update my bis. I tried to connect my memory card on my pc and it works fine when connected but as soon as I disconnect plays anything from my phone. I rebooted a million times. formatted the entire phone but nothing works! my alarm does not sound and sometimes when someone me the your text does not ring SMS. the update is performed from a 107... something to an update from 1788. I can do to fix all these technical stuff... im convinced this isn't the physical phone that is damaged. your help will be very appreciated. thanx

Hello and welcome to the community!

Given what you describe, I think that is better to a clean OS reload. The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:
