  Green key, then in the screen of the phone, menu button, select options, General options. Scroll to dial from home screen

  This gets you are dialing from the home screen.

  Return to the same path for telephone options, General options, phone list views, can be set to 'name '.

  This allows you to type 'R' and get users starting with 'R '.

  To add to the above, you will need to override the methods "automatic" which will use the foregoing. Left alone, the "automatic" methods will offer only you OS packages sanctioned by the carrier for which your BB was built (under the VendorID on the device). But, you are not limited only to those... the easiest is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

  1) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

  (2) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

  (3) download and install to your PC, the BB OS package you want:

  • http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
  • You need to dig through this portal to find carriers that support your model but also to compare their different OS packages that are available.

  (4) If this OS package comes from one carrier other carrier for which your BB was built, then remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

  • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

  (5) run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC. If, during the process, your BB votre BB a '507' error, simply unplug the power cord of the BB USB and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

  Do not forget to save.

  Note that if you had to make a special "tricks" for your BB to function initially get on your carrier (for example, your BB model no is not natively supported by your carrier system), then this process will wipe those out, and you have to make them once again after it's over.   I'm having a very disappointing time with my new Blackberry 9700 I could really use help with it please.

  Following the installation wizard, I arrived to the e-mail configuration. The ONLY option is to enter an address associated with an Enterprise Server. There is no option to choose my Gmail account.

  After this step, I was hoping to find an alternative to get where I needed to be, but does not (at least none that I could find). Then I tried to upgrade my device software, which I did. So I am now under v5.0.0.405. Still no icon for the configuration of email in the settings window.

  I even tried to install Google Sync, but there is no hanging at "first login".

  I was really hoping it would be a lot easier than what I've heard great things about BB. I come from a Windows Mobile, so eager to get this resolved.

  I keep my Pearl to vibrate for phone calls at work, but all my incoming emails also vibrate.  I tried everything I can to stop the whentheyarrive vibrating on my phone.  I even it matched up to my husband and many phone settings all settings are the same, mine is vibrating, and his does not work.  Please help me to not be notified whenever an e-mail message arrives!  Thank you!

  You must go to profiles, scroll to the tip, normal or one who is active, go to email accounts and check each e-mail account (in and out of case)

• BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Curve phone is not audible ring

  In the last two days, my curve has left audible ringtone for phone calls.  For the last three months, I had put to vibrate once then audible ringtone.   I have not changed the settings, and when I look at the profile, it shows the phone settings to be the same (a vibe then ring).    Since yesterday, it starts to vibrate once and that's it - no sound signal.  I can put the setting on 'Loud', 'Normal' vibrate', etc. and it vibrates once again and that's all.   I turned the BB on and outside; taking the battery, checked every setting that I can find and I can't understand why he has stopped ringing.  Any advice out there?

  Mine has done this for a while and has had this error message every time I received a call. I don't remember the exact message, but he had something to do with the java software on the phone. I took it to my local and any store they came with (after a while eagerly awaited my music wouldn't play either) was to restore the factory settings.   There is a small speaker icon either on your Desktop or program menu list, where you can scroll to the very bottem and click on the Advanced menu, and then click the menu butten on the profile that you want to change, and you can change how each and every program "including phone ringtones such n' sounds and viabrations and all that.

  It does not seem to turn on missed calls, just tried it on BB my wife.

  Personally, I use app BeBuzz (not free) of the Blackberry app world. It is very good because you can activate different signals led colorful for different people, missed calls, emails etc.

  You can also change the frequency of the flashes. I noticed on the standard flash sometimes, I look at the phone and I turned away before flashing. So now I have it set on every 2 seconds so I can't miss it.

  There is virtually no diagnosis of those - they are the equivalent of random errors in Windows for which trace the root cause is futile. Basically, here's the last out in the programming code - some event occurred for which there is no event handler in the code. The patch is an update of the code that handles the event... but, again, what is the event is almost impossible. So, there are a few things to try:

  Sometimes, the code simply is damaged and needs to be updated - just like a reboot:

  • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

  If it doesn't boot properly, then you need to try Safe Mode:

  The toughest possible causes are an app behave badly. Fortunately, the error itself pointing you the problem... Twitter. I recommend that remove you / reinstall to see if that helps.

  The other method is to remove the apps one at a time, wait a while between the two (I usually recommend a week), until the problem stops... revealing the offending application.
