PC at risk

I haven't used my PC a few months and it loaded updates last night. I can't run a scan because he said that the request has expired - but shows that it is at risk. How can I make sure once again?

To allow a person to help, can you please provide more information. Example:

What you're trying to scan with? (do/version of the antivirus program)

Update of computing (scanner) is in itself? If this is not the case, try to update first.

In the meantime, you can run a manual scan with http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx to give an indication if your PC is infected or not. This isn't just a check on demand, real-time protection scan.

  • What has been the recent initial risk security involving Javascript in Firefox?

What has been the recent initial risk security involving Javascript in Firefox? I downloaded the suggested "No Script" to be able to allow or forbid scripts on Web sites. However, it gets a little frustrating when waiting for pages to download, then realize that I have to enable them. I really need to make it longer?

JavaScript is not any security risk known that have not been resolved in recent versions of Firefox. You are thinking maybe Java, which is full of known security holes and should be turned off, but is not related to the Javascript in any way.

  • How to cross "Untrusted connection" without a "I accept the potential risk. ?

I know that this question has been answered many times, but after googling I still many solutions cannot solve the problem.

    Just a bit of context:

I bought a new laptop from windows (2 weeks) and for the first week, access my hotmail was fine. I just downloaded Java (latest version) and Firefox (latest version) since then. All of a sudden today, I met this connection error not reliable without one I accept the risk option. I am very sure that I have not downloaded or installed or modified parameters, whatsoever, of security, since the last time that I am able to access my hotmail.

I tried on other web browsers such as IE, Chrome and Safari. I tried to access hotmail on other computers in my house, but the result is the same. It seems that all of a sudden I was "denied" access to hotmail. The only way I can access my email via my phone.

It is what is in the technical details for Firefox (default browser):

col129.mail.live.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is valid for the following names: bing.com, www.bing.com, *. platform.bing.com, *. Bing.com, ieonline.microsoft.com, *. Would be grateful if anyone offers a solution could you describe a little more in detail because I'm honestly not familiar with the more technical aspects.

    See you soon!

    Hi all

The problem is resolved. Strangely, I literally did nothing. I just came back home and I tried again and it worked.

Thanks to all who have read and answered!

My apologies to those who still have this problem. I don't know what is a known solution.

  • Shockwave flash 16.0.0.235 installed, there is a security risk, cannot update

There is an obsolete page on the Adobe Flash website blocked by Firefox 35.0.1 under Windows 7. Version 16.0.0.235 of Flash is labeled a security risk, "Always enable" is grayed out. I was on the Plugins page, and there I clicked on the update now linktext. I have been informed that all the old versions of Flash in the range of version 11 are blocked. Anywhere where go to from there. (My screenshot has a piece off the coast the Plugins page over top of the resulting page when I clicked the links provided).

Obsolete page being blocked has been received and I was able to run through the download process, but in the end, I got an error.
I tried several times to download install_flashplayer16x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe, that downloads OK, and when I run it it downloads and installs Adobe Flash, then said: finishing and "There was a mistake."

Flash software Glary Utilities Update update Internet Explorer, says nothing about Firefox, now I know why. It is a mess.

I opened firefox Pei and went into the new profile Virgin I had created sometimes back. He was happily running a fully compatible version of Flash 11 (I bet that wouldn't last long because my browser's biting me in the end and disables it).

Firefox Pei and I created a new profile today. It has this crippled version 16.0.0.235 Flash.

It seems that Mozilla has an obsolete page telling me that all the old versions in the range of version 11 are blocked. No word on the newer versions.

From what I've read, others are in what concerns other browsers and come with a bad Flash, too. I don't have Firefox (well, Internet Exploder, which I cut like a piece of trash since they came out with IE 7).

    Any advice? Thank you.

  • Are there risks in downloading / using VMware?

I want to check if I'll be able to run a workshop manual of car on my Macbook pro (mid-2009, El Capitan). The website offering it says it will take me to download and install VMware fusion, then VMware player. Does anyone know if there is a risk for my machine by doing this?

    Kind regards

    Patrick

There is no risk of running Vmware Fusion, Parallels or VirtualBox which are all of the virtual machines that allow you to run Microsoft Windows on your computer. I guess that you will be running Windows in the VM. Go to the website of fusion for instructions about installing merge then merge Windows. Once Windows is installed and running to get and install the manual program of the car. You must protect your Windows installation against viruses and malware.

  • How can I remove an exception made by clking "I understand the risk?

Went on the website and received no reliable message and accidentally click on "I understand the risks". How to I reverse this trend? I don't trust this site.

Hi robinandjon, you can cancel when you enter in the menu > options > advanced > Certificates > view certificates > servers tab and remove the certificate of the site in question.

  • Untrusted connection is missing section "I understand the risks".

Run Firefox 33.1.1 on Windows 7, try to access https://code.google.com. I get the page "this connection is untrusted", (specifically sec_error_unknown_issuer), but there is no section "I understand the risks" to allow me to add an exception. Other posts have suggested trying to 'forget this page', who has not solved the problem, or "Ce Frame: Open image in New Tab", which does not appear on right-click in this case. I also tried to go in 'View Page Info' but there was nothing out there for me to add the certificate either.

Open the chrome URI by pasting or typing this URI in the address bar to open the window "Add the Security Exception" and to check the certificate:

    • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.XUL

In the field location type and paste the URL of the Web site

    • retrieve the certificate via the button 'Get certificate '.
    • inspect the certificate via the "view..." button. »
  • On the OWN website of mozilla, I get the message "Your Firefox is out of date and may contain a security risk!' but I just download and install the latest version?

I have the latest version of firefox to date (15/10/2014 v32) and I still get messages while on various sites Internet (Youtube, Google, Gmail), telling me that your Firefox is out of date and may contain a security risk.

I have not even this message on the support pages of mozilla.org?

I tried the subject: config reset the useragent (s) fix, but it does not work.
I tried browsing in safe mode and still get the error.

    Why this false/positive happening?

    Thank you

Hello your useragent (information, the browser sends to websites to identify its version) - apparently by mistake - shows this:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20140923 Firefox/4.0.0; xs-A30GTmfXR3o;CkHZPf;

probably some kind of unwanted software has crashed it. Please refer to this article in order to reset the user agent settings in firefox:

  • Warning about bad connections contains no option "I understand the risks", I can't move on

I install Thunderbird on Windows 8.1. I am trying to add 3 accounts. When adding the second account that Thunderbird has warned by transmitting unsecured password. I clicked on "I understand the risks". No problem. When I tried to add my third account, I received the warning again, but this time there was no other choice, "I understand the risks". I can't click on 'Done', if I change the parameter that TB can not find servers. I'm stuck and unable to add my last story.

I installed on my laptop that runs Windows 7 TB and had no problems. I use the same settings as in my version of TB on my laptop. The version of TB is 24.4 on both machines. Of course, the version of TB was younger, when I installed on the laptop.

Thank you, in advance, for any advice.

If I wanted to get the certificate warning when connecting to my email provider's e-mail server, I would like to seriously check the offered certificate. There should be no exceptions to this need in the first place.

Certificates are there for a purpose, and is not simply to add an exception when it does not work.

  • Should I v.27.0 & v.27.0.1 on my computer? Security risk?

On my 64-bit Windows 7 Desktop, on the page to remove programs, I have two versions of FireFox, 27.0 and 27.0.1. They all have two (United States x86en) after their name. The 27.0.1 version is a more recent week, of course. Have the old version there as well a risk of security, such as older versions of Java, or is it harmless? Also, is there a 64-bit version of the browser should I use? The current 32-bit version seems to work very well. Thanks for your help

It is very unlikely that you have Firefox 27.0 and 27.0.1 actually installed on your system.

Usually, the installer for the latest version cleans up the section of the Windows registry that "Uninstall a program" uses to generate this list. However, sometimes the cleanup fails.

I hope someone expert on how to clean it manually will post a suggestion for this so that you can get rid of the useless extra entry.

For versions 32-bit/64-bit Firefox, no 64-bit version of Firefox was released. There is a version of 'nightly' 64-bit for developers, but because it has not yet entered stable, I do not recommend to use it.

  • "I understand the risks" missing option - page is read from cache

trying to access the Web site, I am facing a security warning because the certificate is self-signed.
This is an internal site, which is currently the subject of tests - so it's ok to add an exception.
the question is, the option to select "I understand the risks" is totally absent, the only available action is "get me out of here"

Since it is an internal site under our control, I did a few tests more:
It seems that firefox redirects the initial http request to https
This does not happen on other browsers (chrome and IE), also tested in a clean install of firefox running without the extensions.

even after completely cleaning the cache and temporary files, question remains.
This site (over http) does not load on firefox, always redirected to https

even after deleting the server mod_ssl apache and by eliminating completely any mention of the ssl on that server, connection with firefox always redirects http to https (now results in the error "Unable to connect to Server" - but still not to load the basic site http version)

    Amir.

I forgot the screenshot of SQLite Manager.
