  To get an atmosphere, just use additional effects. You must add the solids that have the effect of a circle which are applied to them and use the edge mode. You can then use indoor and outdoor pen to blend it into your sphere. You will need two or three such effects - one behind the sphere to provide one basis, others on top of it to mimic tha variations based on the angle of incidence.

• How to smooth the edges of a layer in Illustrator?

  Well, I don't know exactly how to phrase my question, but I'll do my best.

  Basically I have a drawing that was done in Photoshop and now I need to enlarge it. However, of course sometimes pixelated. So I want to put it in Illustrator and make smoother edges (is essentially four colors which do not mix, so each color is separated).

  Is it a fairly easy way to do this? I say to myself that I could either smooth the edges or become a vector. I know Photoshop and InDesign, but I haven't used Illustrator at all, so I have no idea how to do that.

  You can also make a way to access/paths of your layer/selection in Photoshop and copy to Illie.

  It will be probably more accurate that way if you handle it right.

  Once you have pasted a path in Illie it becomes an 'object' (Illiespeak) on a layer. Illie layers can contain several objects.

  The opacity diluted on the edges is a side effect of Photoshop bicubic interpolation when downscaling, but not of upscaling. The interpolation algorithm samples pixels in a radius around a point in the source image to calculate a new image pixel. When the source image is sampled near its border, virtual source pixels are replace the nonexistent pixels outside the limit. In Photoshop, the virtual pixels are given an opacity of zero, so the pixels along the edge of the new picture have diluted opacity and edges look more soft than in the original.

  You can resize with bilinear or nearest neighbour interpolation to prevent dilution opacity, but you can find unacceptable quality by other means. I have an Action that makes the partially opaque pixels to become completely opaque, but it has restricted the application due to the creation of irregular contours in the curves and lines in slope.

  (Previously, an Adobe engineer indicated that cannot do anything about the problem because the result is inevitable because of the math, and that other users want to the dilution of the opacity to happen, in any case.)   I would like to turn off completely all the fonts, straightening, smoothing, etc... on Windows 7. I struggle to read and it gives me a headache.

  Here's what I've tried so far:

  1. go to Windows 7 Basic theme. (No Aero).
  2. run the ClearType tuner. (It did not help. "I want to delete the font smoothing, not tweak it.)
  3 disable ClearType altogether. (Taskbar, menus, etc. are still sleek/anti-aliasing).
  4 unchecked "smooth edges of screen fonts" performance-> Visual effects. (The taskbar, help, Board policies, etc. remain smoothed).
  5 changed all my fonts Tahoma under personalize-> Windows Color
  6 using the regedit, added "Tahoma" as the first option under HKLM-> software-> Microsoft-> Windows NT-> current-> FontSubstitutes
  7 delete all fonts in/Windows/Fonts Segoe (had to take possession to do)
  8 deleted almost all foreign fonts in/Windows/Fonts (I was frustrated...)
  9. I tried to play with HKCU-> Panel-> Desktop-> FontSmoothingType (1 and 0) and FontSmoothing (1 and 0).
  10 tried to run my laptop to a non-native resolution (which makes even worse)

  The steps above has removed most fonts smoothing, the taskbar, dialogue, Control Panel, etc. boxes are still sleek/anti-aliasing. So far, the only way I found to completely turn off all smoothing is to switch to classic mode, which is unfortunate to delete any visual styles either. In short, I want Win7 fonts to render in a mode binary/full pixelated, with no blur rendering or subpixel gray.

  I hope that the typography of Win 7 team makes this optional 'functionality' of SP1. I'm holding out until then. But if you insist on using 7 before smoothing fonts is fixed, here's how to deal with registry fonts substitutes and UAC/protection system.
  Change under FontSubstitutes registry settings so that "Tahoma" appears before Segoe in all parameters of FontSubstitute. Then, appropriating the Windows directory (I took possession of all subdirectories and files, that may be excessive, but made other tweaking easier to deal with) delete Segoe. To appropriate, right-click on the Windows system folder, select 'Properties', click Security, advanced options, and then clik on owner in the advanced security settings... Click the button modify and change of owner to your own account. Do some "replace the subcontainer owner...". "is checked.
  It is an exaggeration, but it will get.

  P.S. If someone figure out how to remove the font smoothing in the taskbar for Win 7, I praise you for all time.

  This has never happened before, but rather started 2 days ago.

  When I pull a brush stroke across my image, the stroke is not smooth.  The line looks like in it is composed of all backgrounds, and I see the edges where I pull the race.

  I use my CS2 for color my lineart and cartoons.

  This could be an indication of not enough RAM?

• smoothing of the p.c., size reduction lines

  in pse8, import images b & w of acrobat.  images, when I increase size have jagged lines, so my first task is to smooth out the lines.  I read on the forum already I could use Gaussian blur, 2.9 and then unsharpen mask - this part seems to work well.  but I can't understand how to reduce the size (width) of the lines (they are too think for my purposes).  can anyone advise on the best way to lose weight but well defined (edges sharp and smooth) lines.  I realize, it's probably pretty basic, but I was not able to understand.  Thank you.  Dan

  Try using the filter-> other-> Maximum. The other option is after applying a Gaussian blur to use levels/curves instead of Unsharp mask.

  I've created a transparent gradient on an image. The problem I have is that the edges of the image are visible under the gradient. I know how to fix this in Photoshop, but I'm having trouble in Illustrator.

  The gradient is transparent, so you can see the edges of the image through the slope, especially since the image is cut off on the edges.

  Try to move the brown color on your gradient slider further to the right as it mix better with the image, you may need to add more mixes not so. Soften the edges of the image as much as the edges are not so difficult.

• Does anyone else have trouble with pressure on the edges?

  Often, it seems that the Xoom has a mind of its own and I noticed that it seems that causes pressure on the banks to do things I'm not saying it to do.

  And then reading a book by Google Book Search or the Kindle app to touch the side of the screen to turn a page, it is often two or three instead of one.

  A lot of buttons seems to be much too sensitive. Is there a way to lower the sensitivity of the touch? I couldn't see in the settings, but it would be easy for me to miss.

  I don't think there is a way to lower the sensitivity to the 'touch' or region on the Xoom. I found with my unit that it does not recognize a tap on the perimeter black solid, but it will be pick-up my finger if it flies over the slightest on the portion of the screen. With the help of the portfolio of Motorola or a gel sleeve helps me keep the Xoom without touching the edges during usage. This could be another option to look at.

• Does anyone have x220t pen works properly on the edges?

  In my view, there are several discussions on problems of calibration with pen where it behaves well on the edges of the screen.

  I'm too having problems with him - when I move my pen near edge or especially near the corners and cursor just runs away from the tip of the stylus to this edge.
