SMU-8431/8 RS-422 serial card sends the wrong number of bits

I use a card series SMU-8431/8 RS-422 configuration for talking to a camera that has the speed of transmission parameters following 38400, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, odd parity. I confirmed that the device certainly has these settings I can communicate with him using a separate Linux PC.

When I try to use the serial port of EITHER the device does not react. Then, I connected the serial port OR on my Linux PC to see which sent the port NO. It is garbage. Nonprinting characters, control commands and the other characters are converted (for example I send the ascii character '1' and get the ascii character 'a').

I made sure to add the terminating resistor 120 ohm NI RX + RX-lines and as mentioned in other posts on these forums, but it is only for the reception and did not solve the problem.

I put a scope on the TX + and TX-lines from the map OR track seems reasonable that sent bits is correctly 38400 and voltage levels are correct moving between +/-3V. What I've noticed, is that the map series, NEITHER seems to be send to the 11 data bits. I expect 10-bit (1 start bit, 7 data, 1 parity, and 1 stop). I changed to 8 and then 6 bits of data and the total number sent passes to 12, then 10, respectively.

I get the same behavior if I use Labview screws, Panel VISA for the port of MAX, or to remove the software NOR entirely and use Hyperterminal. This would seem to indicate that the problem is something in the settings of low level on the card itself.

I tried a second SMU-8431/8 card and the same results, this isn't a fault map (may be two defective cards, I guess!).

Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Ian

Discovered it was: used a scope to view the track both the Linux PC and the serial port OR to compare. The trace OR was significantly longer than the Linux. When I measured the width of the track OR whole, it worked to have a frequency of about 33 000, or much less that the 38400 assigned him. I was getting the wrong characters every bit of data from the port because NEITHER was out of sync with the Linux PC.

I increased the port baud rate NOR and found that setting in 45 000 made it align correctly the Linux PC and I now the communication between the two devices.

For the record, I don't have the terminating resistor 120 ohm or the anchor line to be included in the cable series between ports OR and Linux.

  • Calendar cards Gets the wrong location

If I open Maps, type in a destination and set it to go home' - it does - no problem.

If I set a location to the calendar and travel time from home' - again - the arrow.

But... Click on the graphic of map of the calendar to open cards, and suddenly I live half a mile from the destination (rather than 40 years).

I tried - as suggested - change my contact card (I changed to 'Home' for the 'work' and changed "Rd" to "Road" - just so that I changed SOMETHING). Removed the appointment. Stop cards and calendar. Calendar has reopened and put in the nomination. This time I went "Home" - all good.

Click on the open cards - this time I lived elsewhere. Still hurt and still less than half a mile from the destination, but bad nonetheless.

I tried to put in a new destination directly into maps defining this route, then return to the calendar and redo the previous series of tedious actions: same issue - although sometimes I still moved house.

This happened just after the last update - that was for Cyberduck! I suspect that they are not related. But I'm not, so understand what has happened to make the change.

    Any wisdom on this?

  • What functions can I use to read from a RS-422 serial port?

I'm reading a continuous strem of three numbers of an anemometer connected via RS - 422. What is the easiest way to read these in LabVIEW? Also it would be easy to separate these numbers andplot them separately against the clock?

    Dear

He's hit 422 network operations and Miss at best. We decided to use their equipment to convert RS232 RS422 but only use an intrument on each 422 network. So we didn't need mark of unity, we use a serial port, separate for each instrument. I just configured to run in default mode on several occasions where they send their status message. The default mode also transmits all three (if you use patterns 3-axis) for the playback speed.

When operating in this mode and configuration, everything I have to do is surround data and analyze the updated.

This screenshot should show you everything you need to get started.

  • Add card serial port of the Optiplex 780 desktop

I have a refurbished Dell Optiplex 780 compact desktop computer.  I would like to add an inexpensive PCI card that has two serial ports RS-232 legacy.  The description says that it is a "PCI to serial port card".  He mentions "for 5V PCI slot only."

I think the 780 will take this card, but I'm not well versed on the specifics of the new PCI standards.  This card will probably work?

    Thank you

    Jan

Typical PCI cards have one or two notches, according to voltage signalling. Cards requiring 3.3 volts have a notch 56,21 mm from the rear of the card; those requiring 5 volts have a notch 104,47 mm of the rear plate.  Universal PCI cards have two notches to allow them to be plugged into two system 5 v or 3.3 volt slots.

According to the Manual, the 780 has PCI 2.3.  PCI 2.3 supports 5 volt cards. Your slot machines are probably universal whereas they should accept a card with the notches or both. But be sure that

An important point is that the map you saw is low profile and full height. The manual said that 780 office accept "without editing card - up to two low profile cards. If you need to pay attention to the voltage more than just.

And the desktop version does not have a PCI-e x 1 slot, which means you need to find a PCI card.

Another alternative could be a USB > serial adapter cable.

  • Send bytes of card to the Terminal

    Hi guys

When I studied the sendBytes.Length method in which card sends data to the terminal, I found that in each shipment, the card sends an ACK to the terminal as well. These acknowledgments are reported as below

private public static final byte ACK_NONE = (byte) 0.
    private public static final byte ACK_INS = (byte) 1;
    private public static final byte ACK_NOT_INS = (byte) 2;

    An example of sending within the acknowledgement: t0SndData (this.buffer, bOff, the, (byte) 0);

t0SndData (byte [] paramArrayOfByte, short paramShort1, short paramShort2, paramByte bytes)

-this.buffer (paramArrayOfByte): buffer that contains the data being sent
-bOff (paramShort1): data sent in the buffer offset
-The (paramShort2): length of the data being sent
    -0 (paramByte): ACK

    Hi guys.
I think that belongs to the basic rule for the sequence of the smart card.

    terminal---------------------------------------------------Card

Send the header (5 bytes) APDU---> card check these 5 bytes (CLA, INS, P1, P2, P3)

<------------------data--------------------------->Terminal Forms data or card is INS and P3 (lc or the)

There are 3 situation: No ACK if no terminal need response card, or Lc or the

  • Send the command to laser sensor via a serial port RS232

    Hello

I have a sensor of moving Laser of OPTEX FA Co., LTD. with a Communication Manual.pdf file attached. I modified the sample base series write and Read.vi of LV to send the command to the probe in order to receive a response. However, LV always returns an error on my VISA Write.

In short, the structure of command for the sensor must have a form like this

    STX-command command-space-1 2 - ETX

(more can be see the manual on page 3 or 18 of the .pdf file)

    where

-STX: code showing the head of transmit data (02 H)

-Command 1, 2: could be refers to table 1, 2 and 3 of the manual.

-ETX: code illustrating the completion of data transmission (03H)

For example, if I want to ask the sensor to send the data from A sensor head, the command must be

    STX-ABLE () A - ETX

(20H) space is shown as ().

I tried to send a string HEX (02 - 4 d 454153555245-20-41-03) for this command to the entry VISA, but all I get is ERROR.

I enclose with this thread my vi and a printscreen of the ERROR.

A lot a lot of appreciation for any help from any of you.

I have my LV code can run successfully. He can read the COMMAND and return measurement data. The last time does not playback VISA because I used a cable RS232 to opportunity, and someone operated two pins (2 and 3) for another application.

  • Impossible communication with an electronic card via the USB port of the United Nations

    Hello

I must communicate with a normal electronic card a mini-USB port / USB (serial, COM4). This card transmits on the airwaves on a frequency range that I must address.

When I plug, the PC detects it and accept it (I installed the driver). Plug-in the HyperTerminal in Windows XP to send instructions in hexadecimal this carte pour what change the range of frequency on which it issues.

Furthermore, neither MAX nor Agilent Connection Wizard not the detected and none are able to communicate with it, everytime the same message error "no device detected".

I tried under LabView to send instructions with assistant IIOA, no results. I also tried the instructions 'Config VISA' and 'Entry VISA', trying to write in hexadecimal and normal mode, nothing works. Under labView I have yet no error message, nothing. Nothing.

I don't understand. I know that it is still possible to drive it under LabWindows, but under LabView (8.5) nothing, not a clue.

    I have the latest version OR-488. 2

Y ' have a procedure to follow pour such communication of?

Thanks for any help that would be welcome.

    Kind regards

    Zoe.

    Hello

The NOR-488 driver. 2 is the driver for the hardware from National Instruments GPIB; If you communicate to the port of of a USB through, this will not impact your code or on the resources used. The only element in common with your VISA application EST enhancement. It provides a unified API pour different types interface with instruments (series, Ethernet, GPIB, VXI, etc...).

Under MAX, on cannot hole your communication card, only the serial port. The first chose to do is therefore to ensure that the serial port 4 is clearly visible under MAX. You can then the uti Test Pannel VISA pour send and/or receive orders to/from your card.

If these elements do not allow you to properly configure your hardware, n 'hesitate to send a capture d' screen of the configuration under MAX. If you have a CVI code that allows you to interact with the map, it might be interesting to join, so you can see how interactions with the material are made.

    Kind regards

  • Using the Serial Port on the HP 50 g graphic calculator

    Hello world

I have another question. I want to use the Serial Port on the HP 50 g to connect with another device. The device is called the MFJ-1214PC. What it does is to accept the text and commands through a 9-pin serial Port and converts the text in a Code Morse/RTTY sound audible. It also decodes Audible the Morse Code and RTTY radio signals and displays them as text on your computer. The program that controls the MFJ-1214PC was originally written for an IBM PC for the MS-DOS operating system. The HP 50 g graphic calculator meets the system requirements for the simplest version of the program. I was wondering if there is an MS-DOS emulator written for the HP 50 g, which would allow the HP 50 g to become the computer in this case, or if the program could be rewritten and brought to the HP 50 g. If it could be rewritten, programming language what do you think would be better suited to this type of application (if it is even possible?) or UserRPL, SystemRPL or Assembly. Don't forget that I'm a complete newbie with the HP50g and have never programmed with it yet. I'll include the manual of the MFJ-1214 PC as an attachment so that you won't have to look for him. Thank you in advance for your help!

    ~ Zekelegge ~.

I understand (from my brief overview) out of the box-MFJ-1214PC, this offer box decoder output series computer.  The computer (50g in your case) will have the software to read message series and then convert that to an output for display.

BartDb gave you the right answer.

A serial cable with the correct speed level and reversing lever to manage as well as the 50G has a RS-232 signal to the outside world is the ideal solution.

However, make sure that the output of the decoder box series package can be understood by the 50 g. aud, bits, etc.   (you have the set-top box manual, so you'll have to look that up)

the streamsmart is not an aggregator of serial port.

in other words, these connectors DIN of Qty 4 on the front do not accept series rs-232 input and send then to 50 G.

I'm not an expert, streamsmart more info on these boxes is rare to find.  The probes are even more rare.

However, I know that the 4 connectors are for the analog-to-digital conversion in the probes.  The streamsmart works as a "data logger" in which he sees the input probe, the A/D converted, then sends it to the 50G (or a computer via the USB port).

In addition to the solution of Bart, there was another named Tiwag forum poster who created a serial cable and displayed a schematic representation of the cable.  This information can be found here:

    https://groups.Google.com/Forum/?fromgroups#! searchIn/comp.sys.HP48/serial$20port/comp.sys.HP48/ltcane1jSOw/uHyw2Ti03kgJ

to see an example of programming to use the serial port of 50G, you can reference the following hpcalc GPS data collection program.

    http://www.HPCalc.org/details.php?id=7105

It is written in userrpl so can be crossed with the reference of users advanced for the translation of the syntax.

It seems that the main routine of concern for the comm to the gps is in the file "GPS >.
