  Hi folk, I'm new here on the forum and I need help with my problem. I'm following the steps in this tutorial:

  I did all the steps, however, I don't see the line I added in by vSphere .vmx file, as you can see on the picture:

  

  In the last line should has the following parameter: Workingdir: vmfs/volumes / < datastorename > /...

  -Does anyone know what could be the problem? Or is this normal of the hypervisor?

  PS: VSphere that I use is the 5.0.

  Not all of the entries in the virtual machine configuration (.vmx) file may be changed in the advanced settings. Some of them are excluded for various reasons. Change the settings of the CLI, and don't forget to reload the .vmx once done.

  BTW. Remember that virtual disks with snapshots are used as channels, i.e. each link in the chain is active and create snapshots of slower discs can reduce the performance of virtual machines.

• Can / should you store old pictures in a different location or at all?

  My question is whether I can or must store the old clichés? And if so I must keep up with the latest snapshot or can they be stored in a different location?

  Snapshots in VMware products are used as strings, i.e. every snapshot/virtual drive is in use. No snapshots move towards others would break the chain of snapshot and make the unusable virtual computer. Please take a look at for example VMware KB: understand the clichés of the virtual machine in VMware ESXi and ESX for more details on the functioning of the snapshots.

  Hello

  Quick question for the community.

  Suppose I have 2 data warehouses and A VM is located in the data store 1. I can take a snapshot of the machine and I have this snapshot can be found on the data store 2?

  My understanding was I could not easily do this but our service provider said that's the way it works and I'll try to find a documented method, support to do so.

  All responses will be appreciated.

  Incorrect, it is advisable, and applies by default to store the snapshots in the same data store in which the VMDK resides in, but he did not.

  You can edit the .vmx VM to store snapshots on a different data store, this can be useful if you run lack of space on the data store, which resides in your virtual machine.

  Our users have the E: drive mapped to one place. But I need a scheduled task in order to use the E: drive to point to a different location at the same time, without affecting the mapping of moose for logged in users.

  There is no work around this need of ours. This is because users are working 24 X 7 update of our data files on the E: drive, and a log file is made. We plan prevent users for a minute every night while move us / save the log file and then allow users of the resume and allow a new log file to create. Then take the saved log file and apply it to a real set of monthly backup of data files, so the backup files will be ready for a recovery after disaster. The program that applies the transactions recorded in the data files is able to apply operations to files that are considered as being in the same exact location.

  I know that's not possible without resorting to the application logs a set of files on a completely different machine. But I ask.

  You can try the following steps and check.

  a. Click Start and in search for, type mouse.

  b. click on mouse under programs.

  c. click on the pointers tab, click game box and choose (none). Uncheck the Enable pointer shadow box.

  d. click the pointer Options tab, click View trails pointer area, then move the cursor on the court. Click OK

• Cannot specify a different location for multiple-image backups.

  I want to record several image files on an external drive (which can contain a large amount of data)... It was suggested to specify a different location for the second image... but when I run the process of backup image... first a screen shows my external drive where the image will be stored... but then the screens seem to just continue to do a backup. I don't see any place where I can change the location of the image... It keeps on the re-write on the last saved... image I think that maybe you can change the location of the regular backups... but not for the image file... its on another screen or buried somewhere... the help screen with "attention, images can be replaced" is meaningless for me... I thought he said that it would only replace old images if there is not enuf room on the disc.

  With this option, below is where you can make changes.
  Select the drive to destination or optical disk or network location to store backup files. (this is where I want to change the destination directory name).

  Yes.  I find it easier to type text, and then use the move tool (shortcut V) (looks like an arrow) to place it where you want.

  To bring up the character and paragraph panels go to WINDOW > CHARACTER or WINDOW > PARAGRAPH.

  The application of CC itself cannot be installed elsewhere. It will still install to the root of the system drive. You can, however, choose a different location for the main installers in the CC application settings after that.
