Software malware/adware removal instructions

OS: 10.11.3

Symptoms: popup on chrome (wonderlandads)

I search on google and found pop - up for wonderlandads is adware/malware.

I scanned my system with Avast / avira and malware bytes. He did not find anything

I checked the extension and did not find any suspicious extension (only lastpass extenstion is here)

I have reset the browser, erased the history and cache, check the default search and page by default, everything seems to be OK.

The pop-up window becomes very irritating.

How can I identify and remove this adware.

I guess that there are legitimate software that delivered adware, but I don't know which.

Help, please

  • Continuing to malware / adware problem

    Hello

I have finally upgraded to El Capitan at last week. I had no problem until today when I downloaded a new Java Update, which I think may have also installed some sort of adware / malware on my system. Since the installation of new advertising tabs open (on both Firefox and Safari) when I click on some normal links on some sites. I also see underlined green links ad on some pages.

I tried all the tips I can find online, including of Malwarebytes, Avast, reinstall browsers, try a new user, follow the instructions to remove "DownLite" etc. I also checked the LaunchAgent and LaunchDaemons folders in my library, and they seem to be something unusual.

Any help with this would be much appreciated because it becomes extremely frustrating Apple have advised me to reinstall OS X, but I would try other options first as it may seem a bit drastic!

    Thank you very much

    Tomai

You may have installed ad-injecting malicious software ("adware").

Do not use any type of product, "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" on a Mac. You have already seen that it does not work.

    Save all data first.

If you are not already running the latest version of Mac OS X, update or upgrade in the App Store you risk adware remove automatically. If you are already using the latest version, please log off or restart the computer. Still, some types of malware will be deleted, not all. There is no such thing as the automatic removal of all possible malware, either by OS X third party software. That's why you can't rely on software to protect you.

If the malware is deleted in your case, you will still need to make changes to the way you use your computer to protect you from new attacks. Ask if you need advice.

If the malware is not removed automatically, see below.

This simple procedure to detect any type of adware that I know. Disabling is a procedure distinct and better still.

Some legitimate software is funded by advertising and may display advertisements in its own windows or in a web browser while it is running. It's not malware and it may not appear. In addition, some Web sites display advertising intrusive popup that can be confused with adware.

If none of your web browsers work well enough to carry out these instructions, restart the computer in safe mode. The malware will be disabled temporarily.

    Step 1

Please triple - click on the line below on this page to select it, and then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination:

    ~/Library/LaunchAgents

    In the Finder, select

Go ▹ go to the folder...

from the menu bar and paste it into the box that opens by pressing command + v press return. Open a folder named "LaunchAgents", or you will get a notice stating that the file cannot be found. If the file is not found, proceed to the next step.

If the folder opens, press the combination of keys command-2 to select the display of the list, if it is not already selected. Please don't skip this step.

There should be a column in the update Finder window. Click this title two times to sort the content by date with the most recent at the top. If necessary, enlarge the window so that all the content show.

Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "take a screenshot of a window." An image file with a name starting in 'Screenshot' should be saved to the desktop. Open the capture screen and make sure it is readable. If this isn't the case, capture a small part of the screen indicating that what needs to be shown.

Start a reply to this message. Drag the image file in the editing window downloading. Alternatively, you can include text in the response.

Leave the case open for now.

    Step 2

Do as in step 1 with this line:

    /Library/LaunchAgents

The record which can open up will have the same name but is not the same as in step 1. In this step, the folder does not exist.

    Step 3

    Repeat with this line:

    /Library/LaunchDaemons

This time the file will be called "LaunchDaemons."

    Step 4

Open Safari preferences window and select the tab 'Extensions'. If the extensions are listed, post a screenshot. If there are no extensions, or if you cannot launch Safari, skip this step.

    Step 5

If you use Firefox or Chrome browser, open the list of extensions and do as in step 4.

  • Why update firefox and got a 'free' bing search bar and two software malicious adware?

After an automatic update - no, I do not download no matter what new version of any dangerous place - I found that I had the Bing search bar-which I think I've turned it off, not sure if - and two malware/adware problems. First was rvzr - a.akamaihd which arises a new tab when clicking first on a website, then I found that I had offerswizard adding banners - blocked most of them - and the creation of hiperlinks with mini pop ups when passed above it with the mouse - sorry if my English is not clear. I tried AVG free and there wasn't any warning. Finally, ad-block and rgiht, click on the arrow to search bing seems to fix the problem, however, offerswizard must be uninstalled manually - lightning enhance program, I think that - after a google search.
The main question is... can I trust firefox download/upgrade to automatic update?

Thank you all for your answers. I tried to mark it as resolved, but I doubt that I did.

First I tried in windows / removal of unwanted software programs. Installed an adblocker for FF
Then I downloaded the adware 3.8 removal tool and the problem is almost solved. Still a few details could be improved, but I can live with that.

I think someone took advantage of the installation of FF and it makes any other malware on my computer.

    Thank you once again.

I am running Windows XP HOME SP3 OEM.  By running MRT.exe, the /N switch does not work.  Rather, then perform a fast scanning automatically without intervention, it loads the program as if no switch is used.  I use it from the command prompt.  Something tells me special syntax should be used if mrt.exe is on the root of drive C, then the following will fail:

    MRT.exe/n

Would fail, because as I said, I think a special syntax is required.

    Enlighten me.

If you run MRT from a command prompt, you need to change directories WINDOWS\system32 first so that the switch can be used in conjunction with the command - prompt

The MRT Executive file is located in % System Root%\Windows\System32\MRT.exe.

    It can be activated more easily in one of three ways;

    (1) double click the MRT.exe at home in her System32 subfolder.

    (2) via the Start button and run. Type MRT, uppercase or lowercase makes no difference, and click OK.

    (3) and last of all the 'my way' access the MRT.exe icon in System32 (see above if you have forgotten already) right-click on the icon and create a shortcut.

Drag the icon of shortcut outside the window on your desktop.

The icon is now available to perform antivirus mini research.

A word of warning, what it DOES search NOT within compressed files or your attachments.

And I like the ICON 'A window with a sponge and soapy water,' as we say in France "very funny."

The search is extremely fast, certainly less than a minute and easier than the "Stinger" research, taking as much time as a normal program for a limited number of viruses.

The MRT search engine is explicit, but a useful facet is the possibility to connect directly to MS for more information on a particular virus in the vertical list of viruses.

  • Firefox is still buggy after adware removal

After removing some adware that I had yesterday, Firefox is still sort of bug.

I did deep analysis in my records with multiple anti-malware and anti-virus programs. and I uninstalled Firefox, delete old profiles too and make a new clean install.

However, when you install NoScript and/or Ghostery modules, they do not seem to work.
I think that this could be caused due to the trace of the malware that I received recently.

    Here are the problems:

-NoScript 2.6.9.21: the add-on shows no options, instead shows blank spaces. It seems to be blocking any javascript, you will notice how YouTube does not show. (Img #1).
When disabling the add-on and restart Firefox, all websites with Javascript show again. So the add-on seems to be working, but is is not configurable.

-Ghostery 5.4.3: does not appear on the sidebar, Ghostery button, and I can't figure out how to make it appear.
In addition, in the page modules, if I click on settings ghostery, what I get is a blank page. (Img #2)

I tried to install the Add-ons page of the developer and the Firefox Add-ons page. I even tried with older versions of Add-ons, just to make sure it wasn't a version problem.

I think I might be missing something, you think that I can do to solve these problems?

Where you need them, got logs analysis of antivirus and antispyware programs and can post a HJT log.

Ran anti malicious and entirely software programs loads all files of Firefox (shown here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox) manually.

After a new installation, everything works again allright.

    Hello

They have symptoms of havoc total work completely in the background and on the
    all the rest.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one

Now, this is a controversial subject, but your choice of AV software may be something you want to take a 2nd look.  I suggest you visit this website to get an idea of what AV software made the best work, depending on what type of user you are: http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is a non-profit that has been around for a long time and I hope that their results.

When you interpret these results, remember the difference between a product that detects 95% and the other 99% of infections, it is actually 5 times more likely to allow an infection.

I care about 140 Windows PCs and I have more than 13 years.  Until last September, the only AV software that I would allow my clients to use was Norton Antivirus.  Note that this is not the same as any other product, Norton 360 or Internet Security.

Last September, Symantec (Norton owner) decided to no longer sell such a product.  After much research, I decided on Bitdefender Antivirus 2015 +.  I installed it on more than half of these PC so far and has never been a problem.  In fact, I think it's a better product than even Norton.  One of the things I love the most about it, is the silence and discretion.  It is also cheap.

My customers know that if they install any product of 'Internet Security', I won't work on their computers until it is deleted.  Very well, I learned the hard way that the other components of these products (other than the AV itself) IS caused more problems than any profit that they bring and work primarily by stopping the Windows component that does a very good job of this particular task still.  My problem is that when I started to work on a computer with an IS on it, I could spend hours trying to diagnose the problem, only to find out that by taking the product of the IS, the problems have become much clearer and easier to solve.  I think that the product of the IS actually hides the problem.

As I said.  It is a controversial topic and you will find many different very strong opinions.  I know that mine is based on a fairly large sample over a long period, and are consumers of consumer type Windows.

Another thing you need to know: you can delete not entirely of most any AV software simply by using the standard uninstallation tool Windows 7.  Most of the majors also publishes a "removal tool" that gets the rest.  If you do not completely remove it, it will cause very hard to understand and diagnose problems.

  • Satellite Pro M70: Software does not remove

I have a new Satellite Pro M70 and when I add or remove programs, it will not work. I select the software I want to delete and nothing happens. There are no popup message to indicate an error, no hourglass to tell that it is running, freezes it just add or remove. Someone at - he seen this before?

    Hello

Maybe this application runs in the context of the operating system and so you can't remove it form the "adding / removing programs.
Please check the the Task Manager for this application.

The second possibility is that the registry entries are damage and/or files are missing which are necessary to remove this program.
In this case, you should try to install this program, then remove it.
