Sony RAW files
Just got a new Sony NEX 20 camcorder that records still photos in the form of Raw files in .awr format. Can't open in Photoshop CS5, even with Camera Raw plugin 6.5 installed. Any ideas?
The way it works is this:
Adobe makes Camera Raw regular releases every month several while a version of Photoshop is currently available. Thus, for example, with Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw versions 6.x are deployed, which everyone takes in charge the new cameras. Usually they release a copy of the beta a little early so that people who are really at the chomping for the new camera support can, of course to risk using possibly unstable beta software.
The current update to date, Camera Raw in Photoshop CS5 is actually 6.6, if you are a bit outdated.
You can see all the updates on these pages (for example, in Version CS5 section):
http://www.Adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Windows
http://www.Adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform=Mac
To see if the last update supports your camera, follow the most recent (for example, Camera Raw 6.6) update link, and then follow the link to the ReadMe file.
Do the above, I see NO support for a camera NEX 20, so it seems that you may have to wait for the next update to Camera Raw. I don't think that there is still a 6.7 beta out.

How to open Sony Raw files in LR5 - a7 and a7RII cameras
How to open Sony Raw files in LR5 - a7 and a7RII cameras?
I'm running the last LR5 5.7.1 version but could not open the raw files of Sony cameras, a7 and a7RII.
Help, please.
Sony A7 needs to import fine in Lightroom 5.7.1. Exactly what happens? What is the error message Word for Word unpublished full accurate?
Sony A7R II requires Lightroom 6.1.1/Lightroom CC 2015.1.1 or later version. You'd have to buy one of them; or alternatively, use the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert these RAW to DNG format, which can be imported into LR.

I just bought 6 of Lightroom. It does not recognize the RX10II sony raw files.
I just bought 6 of Lightroom. It does not recognize the RX10II sony raw files. (RAW ARW file type). I checked the web site of Adobe, it says version 6.1.1 LR. reads the ARW files. 6.1.1 seems to be only available in CC. Is this correct? My purchase was a waste of money?
Advice please.
Lightroom 6.1.1 isn't Lightroom CC. Lightroom 6.1.1 is a stand-alone version and not required Lightroom CC. This is a free update to the version you have now. Download the last 6.3 maintenance of Lightroom Lightroom

I use Photoshop CS 4 and bridge of raw conversion. He is great with my Canon 5 d mark 2. I want to buy a Sony brand 2 a7. Is their an update allowing my CS 4 bridge convert Sony's Raw files?
Hi jonathanc
Greetings!
Support for this camera is added in Camera raw version 8.7.1 which is compatible with Photoshop CS6 and later.
Your Options are either upgrade to Phooshop CC/CS6 or Free DNG Converter allows to convert .raw .dng files.
This way you can import to bridge and can work on it in Photoshop.
Download link for DNG Converter:- Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter: for Windows: Adobe DNG Converter 9.2
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter: for Macintosh: Adobe DNG Converter 9.2

Photoshop and Camera Raw or not with editing Sony RAW files?
I still read a lot of comments and forums that Photoshop and Camera RAW are not good to convert and edit files Sony RAW (ARW). Is there a reason for this? Or is it just not biased opinions?
I received recommendations for another program that is supposed to do a better job than the two, but still hesitant to use, I like to use what I already know...
So, what's your response to that?
TIA
Hi rfe777,
The Applications CC with Lightroom and Photoshop CC are good software to work with Sony's RAW files.
And also, they provide a good result when working in Camera Raw.

Camera Raw 9.3 for Sony's Raw files bug
Camera Raw 9.3 does not retain the settings a user default Camera Raw for Sony raw files. Instead, he returned to the default settings of Adobe. This has been a problem for several months now, but apparently Adobe has not corrected it. How can I uninstall Camera Raw 9.3 and back to 9.1? Thank you.
Hello Chris,
My apologies for the bug. A fix will be available in the next version of Camera Raw. I can't reveal the time of release other than to say that it will be quite fast.
In the meantime, you can run the 9.1.1 installer on the next page to restore your installation while you wait for the fix.

LR6 should support for the A7Rii of Sony RAW files (.) ARW files). Fix?
Have you updated to Lightroom 6.1.1 least? This is what is needed for your camera.

Why my bright room will not read Sony's RAW files?
I have a nikon, but my business partner has a Sony camera. He took several RAW files on a hard disk for me to import them into Lightroom and edit, but when I went to import the files cannot be read. I updated my version of Lightroom, but always for a reason Sony RAW files could not be picked up by my Lightroom. No idea why and how I can import these files?
The A7R Mark II requires Lightroom 6.1.1 or later version. You can download this version from:

LR5 supports Sony RX100 raw files?
I am currently using LR3 and I going to 5 if it supports RAW files. I want to try to avoid using if possible Sony raw file converter. Thank you!
It supports RX100, RX100M2, and RX100M3 with the latest version 5.5, although to do a fix for the M3 RX100 to ISO125... it's a little dark.

When I try to open raw files from Sony NEX-5, instead of going to PhotoShop, as all my NEF files, they go to another suite of software that I have (One). I'm on MAC OS with PS - CS6 10.7.5 last and last raw converter plugin 7.1. On One seems to hi-jack this Sony raw files and does not give me the option for settings I get with Adobe's Raw file converter. Any help?
Good news!
Since you have the solution, you can see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1058744?tstart=0

RX-10 Raw files is not supported for use in Aperture Mac
Just buy a RX - 10 cybershot camera and I would use my Mac opening to deal with Sony Raw file formats photo editing program. Sony raw files are a Mac "Unsupported Image Format". My understanding of the Mac user forums is the manufacturer (Sony in this case) to provide apparently updated coding to Apple so that they can incorporate into the product periodic firmware versions. If it is incorrect, I would like to hear from someone at Sony. If not, is there a workaround solution that someone knows? Thank you very much.
The last Digital Camera RAW compatibility update does not yet include the DSC-RX10. You can install Image Data Converter on your Mac as an alternative. Click here for more information.

Support for the new Sony camera RAW files
I have a new DSLR Sony ILÇE - 6300 Raw image in iPhoto editing is not supported, as the application overview will not load the Raw files.
Adobe has just updated aps of new cameras, Apple needs to update the app as well?
The list of supported devices is currently here: Digital camera RAW formats supported by OS X El Capitan - Apple Support
If your device isn't on the list, you will need to wait for an update.
You can try the free Adobe DNG converter (Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter: for Macintosh). If convet you format the photos to DNG, they will always be the FIRST. Apple photo applications can usually treat the DNG files, if they are not in a compressed format.
