Source data store Session failed

Hello

I have a request suppose I have an interface for ELT files.

and the source file is replaced by another process after certain time interval.

Suppose that during the integration of the data if the db connection failed then where can I get the

data from the CBC. (assuming that src file is overwritten and we have no direct access to the src file system)

Thank you

Papai

Hi Sarah Perreault,.

You can add a step in your package or workload to copy the file in a directory to archive if the interface fails.

In a package, add a (red) KO link between your interface and a tool of OdiFileCopy (and optionally an OdiSendMail to be notified). For a load Plan, add an exception step to do the same.

Kind regards

  • Constraints in the target or source data store?

    Hello

When I put a constraint (condition) in my store of data source, the constraint works great when I just test it by clicking on the table by clicking on "Control-> errors. All errors are displayed in a list. But when I run my script uses the data/table store, my db target takes all the lines even those that "should" have failed.

When I read the Guide ODI I see a note on page 57 stating the following:

"Only the declared constraints on the data target in its model store are in the constraint list".

So can someone please explain to me why you would put constraints in the source data store if they cannot be used in a scenario/interface?

    Best regards
    M

  • Filter on the Source data store

    Hello

I am new to ODI. My source and target are the two Oracle. I have a table in the Source that has 10000 files. I Reversed engineer the source table and was able to view the data on the source data store. However, I want to filter the data on the source to send only rare recordings and not all 10000. I am writing a filter on the Data Source on a particular column store, but I still see all the records when I click Show data. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Arun,

I don't think it's possible. You want to look at the filtered source data before loading to make sure that only correct data is loaded into the target.

A little more complicated would be to create a temporary interface (interface yellow) by selecting the Sunopsis Memory engine than the target temporary table.
And then right-click to display on this memory temporary table data.

Unfortunately, when I delete a data source store, all joins/filters involving this data store disappear.

This will happen if your join filter/condition is specified only on 2 tables and 1 of them is deleted.

And all the mappings of target involving this data store are set to 'Target' instead of 'Source' (not a big deal).

  • migration of data store has failed - now there are two vm - one power off?

I was migrating a vm fw at different stores of data when a failure has occurred. They may have been cancelled or it may have been the fact that our vcenter server has restarted. I don't know if this would have caused this problem.

In any case, now, two of the VM series two - power and the other copies are turned off. One that is off is the data store b and the virtual machine is the one data store. The strange thing is, shows of b (power off vm) data store which is where the files are located while the virtual machine is on a. When I browse a datastore I cannot find all files... It just hangs. I googled but am stuck.

See the screenshots for more details. Thanks in advance!

Edit: finally to load two data warehouses. They both show identical files: vmdk, vmfx, vmsd etc. for the two virtual machines on two data stores. It's weird!

Edit 2: or vm, on or off, power to the high/off or migrate or remove from the inventory. Both are 'ping' and one that is good though.

I figured this out. I have ssh was the host of the virtual machine is on (the two virtual machines were on the same hosts). Down to power, I ran the following command "esxcli vm kill process - type = soft - world id = xxxxx."

That he got the vm to stop. The virtual machine of the same name already powered off then showed as "orphans". I removed the orphan vm of the inventory, the other vm started automatically acknowledgement of receipt, then I deleted the orphan vm of the 2nd data store.

  • file is larger than the maximum size supported by the vmware data store: snapshot fails

    Hello

I'm having a few problems when creating a snapshot either by Veeam/vSphere client...  Here are the details...

VM is connected to lun 2 TB RDM in virual Server files mode. The configuration file is located on the datastore to vmfs with 750 GB (block size of 8MB)

I'm not sure whether the size of the data store creates a problem or anything else.

    All advice is appreciated...

    Thank you

What is the exact size of the RDM? A snapshot requires little additional space for hard metadata. Please take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1012384 (section: load calculation required by the snapshot files). For your ROW, this means, if the ROW is greater than 2032 GB, you will not be able to create a snapshot.

  • Extremely high latency during the migration of the local data store to data store shared.

Hi guys I hope you help me. Sorry for my English btw, I'm not native.

    Let's start!

    I have:

    1 vCenter
    1 host
1 Distributed Switch (with a pg for managing network/IPstorage the esxi)
    1 standard switch (empty)
1 FreeNAS to provide iSCSI LUNS
1 Microsoft to provide iSCSI LUNS

When I try to migrate virtual machines between the warehouses of shared data or data shared at local store, all right. The problem has become when I try to migrate virtual machines from the local to the shared data store. All data stores down (all paths down) and back up and I get this error:

"Error caused by the /vmfs/volumes/volumenID/VMDirectory/Disk.vmdk file.

When I try to migrate virtual machines from the local to the FreeNAS iSCSI data store it fails immediately.
When I do the same local Microsoft iSCSI datastore that it takes a time loooooong to migrate the virtual computer, give it to me even all the paths downwards and uplinks down error but not lacking in migration.

I'll give you some screenshots to see the errors.

    Thank you very much!

EDIT: I have extremely high latency notice when I try to migrate from the premises of warehouses of shared data. average 2000ms with peaks of 50,000 (see my response below for more information)

Finally, I found the solution! The problem is that I have been using E1000E vmnic instead of vmxnet3. I have configured an adapter vmxnet3 and boom! 20 ms in all migration!

Thank you to all for help, especially Nick_Andreev !

  • VMware ESXi 5.0 - "move to" data store a vmdk file has left at the original location

    Hi all

I had to free up space on a SAN data store.  For this I used the function "move to...". "browser data store in VsphereClient.

Did not notice directly but after I moved my E: drive vmdk file, he took no source data store.

How can I make sure that vmdk (the source data store) may be deleted without impact on the vm?

    1. If 'vmkfstools d' report without lock, so I guess I could assume it is safe? Is there another way to check?

2 vmkfstools seems not having the '-d' option in vSphere CLI? (East - this only accessible from ssh console on an ESXi? quid vCenter then?)

In the data store, the files were:

    -Vm\win2k8_data.vmdk [SAN03] (data disk D :)

-[SAN03] vm\win2k8_data - ctk.vmdk (-ctk looks that it has been created by Veeam)

    -[SAN03] vm\win2k8_transactlog.vmdk (E: transaction log 128 GB drive)

-[SAN03] vm\win2k8_transact - ctk.vmdk (-ctk always assuming that it was created by Veeam ~ 8 MB)

    Steps to follow:

-J' turned off the virtual machine using these car

    S ' installs 2 files on the E: drive

-Removed the vm disk (<-my mistake? maybe this step left a lock file? in power vm off?)

-Added the disk from the data store where I copied it

    Thanks for the help!

    behd

    Hi Behd,

The best way to check if the vmdk on the source is not being used would be to add this vmdk to an existing virtual computer and turn on... ? If not used or is locked by one that turns on with success.

If it has an instance running it wouldn't let you put under tension and raise an error of file locking. ?

  • VM does not far from data store

    Hello

    I'm under 5.1 and 5.1 ESXi vcenter

These days I use storage vMotion to organize my warehouses... well but I have 3 data warehouses where I move 4 virtual machines to another data store (new size 3 TB of dastore)

but they are still recorded in the source data store where there is nothing in this old data store: no CDROM ISO, no file VMX, all virtual disks are in the new data store

The old navigation data store shows nothing related in this datastore with these virtual machines.

no idea what could cause this problem when I move completely these virtual machines to the new data store, but they will still show in the old

    Thank you very much

Data warehouses reasons other than the data store 'House' is displayed are:

    • the entries in the settings of the virtual machine (image .iso for CD-ROM drive, .flp images to floppy drives)
    • Active snapshots, where such a link existed at the time you created the snapshot

  • Kickstart: Local data store destroyed do not reinstall it

I noticed that when I reinstall ESXi 5 on a server already built, the previous local data store is not destroyed.

I said to make a 'install' and 'overwritevmfs '.

install - firstdisk = mptsas, local - overwritevmfs

in the upper part of the kickstart but the store of previous local data remains.

    I tried to use clearpart

    clearpart - alldrives - overwritevmfs

Yet the local data store of the previous generation, as well.

Part of my process of kickstart is to rename the store local data (datastore1) to a meaningful name that includes the hostname so if I reinstall, the data store rename fails (since there is no datastore1 on the 2nd install).  Also, I need to know the name of the data store, as I'm checking out the files ' / ' when installing (via oem.tgz) and move before the first reboot in the section post % (or they will be gone). The only persistent location is the local data store. This also effects kickstart for resettlement syslog that goes to the local data store as well.

Suggestions on how do I delete a data store local existing during the installation (unless you delete the RAID and re-create)?

  • ESXi 4.1 with 2.7 to RAID server only has a 750 GB data store

I have a server ESXi 4.1 Build 260247. It has a controller Adaptec 5805Z with 2.7 TB RAID6 material. The ESXi is installed and running on a USB key. The server runs a lot and don't have any problem with the performance, but what I failed to note (after the creation and configuration of the 7 servers for an Exchange 2010 lab) is that the datatstore1 is only 740,75 GB. I looked everywhere in vSphere and online on how to access the rest of this storage. Under configuration > hardware > storage it shows the 'Adaptec disk Local (mpx.vmhba2:C0:T0:L0)", type = parallel SCSI disk to Transport, 2.73 Capasity TB.

How can I access the additional storage on the disk? I certainly don't want to have to reinstall the LAB if I have to. Attempts to increase its size in the properties of the data store has failed. No error, that he just does nothing nothing found...

Creating logical volumes on the RAID is a feature or function of the RAID controller, respectively the RAID controller software. Most RAID controllers authorize splitting of the RAID (unless it's a RAID level 0 x) in several logical volumes. You will need to check this for your RAID controller.

You should probably migrate VMS off the coast of the current data of 750Go store and delete data store. Then, remove the current volume of 2.75 to logical and create a new logical volumes - maximum 2 TB - 512 bytes by using the controller BIOS or software RAID.

  • check the free space on the data store before making svmotion

I'm trying to understand how to check free space on the data store until the proceeds of the svmotion.

-must first check that that sizeof (VMs to be moved) < sizeof (destination) - 50 GB before in terms of the

-should leave a 50 GB buffer so that the script ends when all the VMS are moved from source data store or there are only 50 GB left on the source data store

-must move VM to store data source to the destination data store 2 at a time, until the completion

-must create a local log file, and then send this log file using the relay smtp server.

  • Update the XML data store

    Hello experts,

I've created an interface when an xml file is reversed in the form of a source data store. Xml data are pumped into a target of oracle db. All this goes well.

I'm creating a scenario where I get an xml file from a ftp server on a daily basis (with agent). This new xml file has the same structure as that already used in the interface. The question is: How can I update the data in the xml data store?

I tried to replace the original xml file, but it does not work and cdc does not seem to apply here, I searched for quite a while now.

  • Shrink a VM HD - is the destination data store need to have enough space for the source or destination VM?

    Hi all

I have an existing file with HD Server configures:

    HD1: 60 GB

    HD2: 20 GB

    HD3: 650 GB

    Total: 730 GB

I intend to shrink HD3 250 GB that will give me a new total of 330 GB.

My question is, when I rode the VMware Converter Standalone process and I get to the step where I select the 'destination '.  Obviously, I need to select a data store that can adapt to the virtual destination machine.

My concern is that it shows the size of the source disk (Go 730) (see image below), and for some reason any part of the conversion process the destination data store requires the storage of the size of 330 GB vm 730GB as opposed to the 'new '.

    source disk size.PNG

    Can anyone confirm?

    Thank you

There are no for the data store 730 GB free in order to submit the conversion. 330 GB free (size after reduction) would be sufficient.

If you also select a provisioning, you could even start the conversion with less free space on the data store, but it may fail at some point, if the actual data meet.
