  Even with CAPTCHA on, some sites that I am management receive a lot of spam comments - 20 or 30 a day in the case of the most popular sites.

  Many of them are for a very limited number of keywords, for some reason any especially to make loans.

  How do you handle deleting comments in bulk? Is there a way to modify the content form to block all comments that use specific channels, like [url = or even http:// ?]

• Get thousands of empty spam comments

  Hi all

  Our main site at http://www.splicemarketing.co.uk is to get thousands of empty spam on the blog comments - 1100 in 3 days.  They are all completely empty, so are bypassing filters Askimet, and can I remove only 50 at once is a bit of a pain.

  What is the best way to deal with them?

• CAPTCHA does not prevent spam comments from subject

  Captcha doesn't seem to work on our blog.  (http://www.waterthebamboo.com/_blog/Blog) that we receive feedback from Spam several times a day.  Captcha/Image verification should not prevent Spam messages submitted with the form?  It's a real pain to have to search in all these spam messages in the admin.

  We know very well that spam engines are becoming more and more sophisticated, and what is happening here is they can actually read the captcha image and interpret it.

  The engineering team is already looking in different solutions to this problem and a solution should be available in August 21 release.

• Spam and elimination of Spam 'Clients '.

  I recently had a spam comment on my blog and luckily the recent integration of Akismet, it was taken and marked as spam. When I went to the admin I've deleted the comment spam, but I thought that comments that are marked as spam would also remove the client or a spammer who posted the comment. I manually deleted the spammers CRM entry. How it works for the CRM spammers entry deleted automatically?

  Hello Lynda,

  The comments and the corresponding records of CRM will be deleted after 24 hours if you check the box "Remove comments that are automatically or manually marked as spam after 24 hours." in the screen manage comments rules.

  I am updating the FAQ of the OTN Forum [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/help.jspa], because there was a lot of wrong things in there (like the link syntax).
  
  Anyone can do this, as it's actually a wiki, but you must sign first and it may take a few days to get your status as "writer" (it did for me anyway).
  
  Don't forget the FAQ is mainly concerned indicating the display syntax etc. and is used by all of the OTN Forums - as such, nothing specific to your favorite special forums would be appropriate.
  
  So, feel free to talk about anything on this thread that you want to change to day including. So far, I've changed the smiley laugh to be correct: ^ 0 (important things of all, of course!), changed the link syntax so that it works and removed some of the formatting options that no longer work. I know there are previous discussions that mention some questions and have some 'debate' on the State of the FAQ, but I thought it would be better to have an independent thread for this.

• my connection has always been private and secure, and time and time again this comment spam has somehow broken over and over again in my system and connected to my internet.

  I have my laptop set in place for wireless internet, and had no problems so far. I have a search United Nations guest house living in my house and somehow there manipualted my system (this is what the tech told me that wanted me to pay 125.00 to fix my problems) my connection has always been private and secure, and many and many times this comment spam has somehow broken over and over again in my system and connected to my internet. now, I was looking around and tried to change my settings in the section home group (remember I do not have a residential group set up and never had one) but now I just noticed that somehow this * hole entered my network and set up a homegroup to Siena with password. to top it all off I have went and tried to change the settings for which patients to share with people on my network... and it would allow me to change anything due to accsess denied! He said that I need her password for accsess homepage settings because it has somhow a administrative accsess to eerything on my pc. How can it be a. admin on my network when there is one that is done over the internet through my computer? Please help me. I am sssooo totally lost as to how to do locked out everyto with my computer, I don't want him to have access to anything annnyyyy! PLEASE HELP ME IF SOMEONE HAS ANY INFO THAT CAN HELP ME...   If you are not in the residential group, they have no access to your computer. I recommend also define your network as hidden. That way if they do not know what you called, they have not all hope to connect. (Unless they are very good at hacking)

• Why Thunderbird is puts some junk in the junk e-mail folder, but leaves others marked as spam in the Inbox (IE why incompatible)?

  I read the instructions under Mozilla based on Firebird training and set up a junk folder - DONE!
  But, while some junk goes in the folder junk e-mail, others remain in my Inbox marked as junk. Why? Is it in line, and some action is expected of me - or a flaw in the process?

  I don't have a real answer for you. But BT using Yahoo mail and my recent comments is Yahoo IMAP is in a world of its own when it comes to spam and marking mail as such. It moves e-mail and from the unwanted spam/e-mail folder with its own rules and that Thunderbird be damned. Oh one there is no way to turn their junk filtering.

  This script worked perfectly for many years on Mail 2 for 10.4 Tiger and 4 mail for Snow Leopard 10.6, exactly as shown above. I'm fighting to move to a new Mac with a new version of OS X I have two: an iMac running OS 10.7.5 Lion with Mail 5.3 and a MacBook Pro OS 10.10.5 Yosemite with Mail 8.2. These two systems are unable to exactly in the same way, with the same error:

  "error" Mail was an error: cannot make the source of the message id box 2182618 mailbox \"INBOX/Junk Mail\ ' \"SS IMAP\ account ' type rich text. ' number-1700 of the source of the message id box 2182618 mailbox account "SS IMAP' rich text ' box of RECEPTION/Junk Mail"

  This happens with the word "content" in the line of script "set content to thisMessage's source" highlighted.

  I studied the AppleScript dictionaries for mail in these different versions of the OS (10.6, 10.7 and 10.4, 10.10):

  For Mail 2 on Tiger, source and content are the two 'string. ' String is not defined.

  For Mail 4 in snow, source and content are the two "text". Text is defined as "Rich (style) text.

  Mail 5 in Lion and 8 Mail in Yosemite, source is 'text' and the content is 'Rich text', defined as 'Rich (style) text.

  "Aha!" I thought: ' I need to force the Mail to use plain text to the message form! After days and hours learning (I don't know AppleScript) and experimentation, I finally got the following change to the compilation and tried to run (my changes/additions in bold):

  Tell application "Mail".

  Set theMessages to the selection

  Repeat with thisMessage in theMessages

  Set newMessage make new message coming out at the end of outgoing messages

  Tell application "system events" to indicate the process of "Mail".

  frontmost set to true

  Click on the menu "make Plain Text" of the bar menu 1 to menu bar "Format" menu 1 item

  the visible value to true (* comment on the line to stop windows 'flashes' *)

  define the content of the source of thisMessage

  subject to the value "Fwd:"& thisMessage's subject.

  Note that I voluntarily deleted the emitting part and setting of the script at the end (I want to ensure that any changes properly format the message before it shuts down in fact).

  Result: same error at the same place.

  I checked that the incomplete outgoing e-mail form indeed is set to plain text.

  Here's how things are supposed to work:

  (1) user manually selects one or more spam messages in Mail, and then calls the script.

  (2) for each selected message, the Mail + script creates a new outgoing email message. The body of the message is the raw source of the message spam (inbound). The subject is set to Fwd: + the original subject line. To: address is as shown in the script. Send (from :) address is the user's default in mail.)

  (3) each message individually, marked as read, marked as forwarded, marked as spam.

  (Note: I tried to paste in formatted AppleScript, but this web form mixed and makes it unreadable.)

  I don't know what else to do. I need to this feature, every day! The lack of it crashes me to move to a new version of the OS.

  Spam files are grayed out and will not be able to transfer by e-mail in my Inbox on my iPad and iPhone. Why can't I move spam in my Inbox to the spam folder so my spam filter learns what is spam? I have to go on my Mac computer to make a transfer.

  Hello. You use the built-in iOS app Mail? Your e-mail account using POP3 or IMAP to receive messages? Check the account settings so not sure.

  I access my Yahoo email account via IMAP in Thunderbird and I try to configure junk e-mail settings. Yahoo has it's the spam goes into a folder called 'Spam' (that you cannot change), but Thunderbird is not to see this folder. I would like to have the mail folder junk/spam server Thunderbird and Yahoo be the same as that in this way if their filters add something in there I can see it without having to go through the web interface. Unfortunately I can't operate this way, though.

  Ok thank you. I wasn't sure if the "Bulk Mail" folder in TB is synchronized with the "Spam" folder online, so I wouldn't miss anything that ends up here.

  Thunderbird does not use the word 'spam', so if you have a Spam folder, it is provided by someone else. Probably your e-mail provider. Go to their website by e-mail.

  I presume that he is a POP-connected account, not IMAP. If it's IMAP, you would probably see a junk folder in the account in Thunderbird.

  Outlook displays email in the spam folder, but these e-mail appear not anywhere in thunderbird

  POP email is simply a mechanism to download on the local computer of the Inbox.

  IMAP is a synchronized email that synchronizes the mail on the server in the folder with a local client.

  My guess is you have correctly identified the Thunderbird as a POP account, it was alll Hotmail provided in a year or two previously, so if you had set up the account for a few years then it will almost certainly POP.

  You can configure the account once again as IMAP account in Thunderbird and get all your synchronized folders.

  In the toolbar > hover your mouse over the entrance to the new Message, until another menu appears > existing e-mail account

  Follow the prompts to assistants to add the account again. Post back before you delete your old account, because that can lead to loss of mail if not done correctly, depending on how it is implemented.

• How can I prevent the Thunderbird sending spam emails?

  I work as a consultant and use Thunderbird as my email of the company. Last month, emails from one of my customers were going to spam. I added their addresses in my address book. In the menu setting junk, "does not automatically mark messages as junk if the sender is in:" I chose the "collected addresses" and "personal address book."   Well, you are more than likely using the IMAP email and seeing the record created by your ISP.
  As already said Thunderbird does not use the word spam for anything whatsoever.

  I use subfolders in Yahoo, but Thunderbird is pulling for new messages at the same time the subfolders and the spam folder.
