  I bought this laptop about 5 months ago and since I'm doing that I had the same problem all the time. Tried a few things to do something, find some ideas on the internet but still nothing.

  It has Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit, 3 GB of Ram, Intel Core i3 and card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145. When I play any game, even if it was a game of simple graphics, the game start screen shaking and in most cases it became freezing or which gives a black screen (ESC, ALT + F4, ALT + CTRL + delete) do not work with it.   I agree with audigex. The internal resolution of games has nothing to with the computer display resolution. Usually, you can change the resolution in the game settings.

  I had this problem on my new dv9927 (with external speakers or headphones).  Tried to update the drivers and all.  Then someone suggested to turn off the Wi - Fi adapter.  Who did it, and once more, the sound was pure.  It's a BroadCom adapter and I thought it was faulty, but since the fix for the problem, they published a pilot day and now its pure with a Wi - Fi on or off.

  Opening the window of TOSHIBA Virtual Sound Settings and settings, don't change anything. In fact, I can't change anything - if I set the speaker type (say 'built in speaker' on 'closed type headphones', the sounds are the same.)

  I don't remember when the problem arises, but it seems to coincide with the upgrade to SP3 of XP. (I'm under XP Home).

  I believe that no one will be able to say with certainty what the problem is here. I can imagine that Sp3 installed something and now there's this strange sound question.
  But I guess it's because of the sound settings. I don't know what player you use but check it please equalizer. Maybe there's something you can change and have good sound back.
