Special characters when binding with word

Hello world

I have a problem with my project I hope there is an easy solution.

I create a pre-existing some word documents WebHelp project and I'm linking them so it can all be updated more easily.

My problem is that when the files are imported html files are named after the section titles, some of which have special characters such as '-', and '& '. Once uploaded to the Web server, files with special characters do not work and if they are clicked on in the table of contents provide a wicked big error indicating that the file does not exist (it adds the ASCII number in the file name). Cannot change the configuration of the server, so I need to make sure that the files have not all characters like that in them.

Once imported, I'm not able to change the file by right click on the page name and go to properties and removing characters.

Is there a way I can easily solve this problem without changing the titles in the word files?

See you soon,.

* Edit I use RH9

    I create a web site with a menu navigation Muse. In the menu (labels), I have some special characters (Portuguese characters) as a and i (official, noticias) c. When I export to html format in a folder this menu buttons don't work - html link - http://agml.pt/agmlteste/ . But when I save the temporary link Business Catalyst site - http://agml.businesscatalyst.com/ keys work well. Thanks for the help!

    The issue here is your host is not configured to serve the page with special characters names, but BC does not handle them correctly.

    Right-click on your pages and choose "Page Properties".  Go to the third tab, 'options', and clear the check box to use filename with the same name as the Page name.

    Use a file name that does not contain these special characters and it should work fine.

  • Problem with special characters when retrieving the server information

    Hi all

    I use a HttpConnection to get data from a server, and sometimes there are a few very unusual characters. The data comes from the server in the format UTF-8 and converted into ISO-8859-1 does not work for Cyrillic more obscure.

    I looked into this and I just can't work at what point in this code, I can convert the character set.

    HttpConnection connection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url
                        + connSuffix);

                connection.setRequestMethod(method);
                if (method.equals("POST") && postData != null) {
                    connection.setRequestProperty("Content-type",
                            "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
                    OutputStream requestOutput = connection.openOutputStream();
                    requestOutput.write(postData);
                    requestOutput.close();
                }
                int responseCode = connection.getResponseCode();
                if (connection instanceof HttpsConnection) {
                    HttpsConnection secureConnection = (HttpsConnection) connection;
                    String issuer = secureConnection.getSecurityInfo()
                            .getServerCertificate().getIssuer();
                    UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeLater(new DialogRunner("Secure Connection! Certificate issued by: " + issuer));

                }

                if (responseCode != HttpConnection.HTTP_OK) {
                    screen.requestFailed("Unexpected response code: "
                            + responseCode);
                    connection.close();
                    return;
                }

                String contentType = connection.getHeaderField("Content-type");
                ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();

                InputStream responseData = connection.openInputStream();
                byte[] buffer = new byte[10000];
                int bytesRead = responseData.read(buffer);
                while (bytesRead > 0) {
                    baos.write(buffer, 0, bytesRead);
                    bytesRead = responseData.read(buffer);
                }
                baos.close();
                connection.close();

                screen.requestSucceeded(baos.toByteArray(), contentType);
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                screen.requestFailed(ex.toString());
            }

    Everything works fine, but I really want to convert the output to UTF-8.

    Thanks for any help in advance.

    Does that help?

    InputStream responseData = connection.openInputStream ();
    ubyte [] buffer = IOUtilities.streamToBytes (responseData);

    responseData.close ();

    Connection.Close;

    String redsponseString = null

    try {}

    responseString = new String(buffer,"UTF-8");

    }

    responseString was correctly converted using UTF - 8.

    You might want to empty the bytes received using something like this:

  • Replacing special characters when writing to a file

    I use the following to replace Muñoz (n with null).  It should produce as Muoz.

    This should be simple, but it does not work.  209 and 241 represent the upper and the lower case n.

    Thank you

    If you create a file in Notepad, select the ANSI or the encoding UTF-8 in the dialog box save as.  Copy the Linux file in binary mode. Set the variable NLS_LANG ".» WE8MSWIN1252 ", if the file was saved with the ANSI coding or to. AL32UTF8", if the file was saved with UTF-8 encoding. Be sure to export the variable.  Then, start SQL * more and run the script.  I guess that you are on a U.S. or Western Europe of Windows version.

    I don't have a problem but the xml code is downloaded from a Government website, and I don't know if they have properly managed these reserved characters. I don't know if they will save in their database of escape characters "" or they it will convert the reserved character.

    I don't think you need to worry about this.

    An XML parser must properly handle these characters and the corresponding predefined entity references.

  • Avoid special characters

    Hi all

    I want to avoid the special characters when write to ActiveAutoTextEditField.

    In fact, I try to ActiveAutoTextEditField to alphanumeric.

    I did the code:

                }
                return false;

    But the code above supports special characters. Please solve my problem.

    Watch using a filter TextFilter as another possible solution to your problem.  The filters are indeed how input fields restrict entry to the simply whole for example, so I think that maybe it's the more "correct" solution

    6 Dreamweaver is still encoding my special characters when I enter a URL through the control panel AND press ENTER. When I paste the link in code view or just paste in the control panel link field without hitting Enter, no formatting occurs.

    I the setting under Code Rewriting preferences set on "do not encode special characters", but without worrying reformatting occurs whenever I hit enter in the link field in the control panel.

    For example:

    The link I'm stick in is dynamic and has the value % DC %

    If I just paste the link in the Control Panel then click elsewhere the link is defined, and no formatting occurs. If I stick in there, then press on the URL change to %u %

    If you use SQL Loader, then you can call pl/sql functions, placing them between quotes along the column of data loaded, like this for example.

    LastName        position(10:40) "replace(:LastName,chr(13),'')",

    Single quote, double quote and------.

    < cfset temp = Replace (tester.loc_notes, ' "',' & #34;', 'ALL'") >

    If these quotes are displayed to the user, use " ", " or HTMLEditFormat().

    It is difficult to be more precise, unless you attach the code in question.

  • PDF attributes - special characters - Microsoft word has changed

    I create multiple PDFs (with Acrobat 9 Pro) every day from Microsoft Word 2003. When I do a lot of changes to the MS Word document, I compare the new PDF from the old PDF. The menu of Acrobat 9, I use the Document / compare and select "reports, spreadsheets, presentations magazine.

    I have a lot of special characters in my Word document, such as chips, and symbol characters such as ' less than or equal to ' and ' greater than or equal to ". Even if none of the pages with these symbols have changed, the special characters are marked as changes.

    It's really annoying. I have to watch many false "changed pages" and decide to ignore them. Today, I've recreated a 62 page PDF file. There is only two pages I had edited in Word format. When I compared the files PDF, he marked 30 pages with modifications.

    Each page with a point of the bullet has been marked as a change. When I pass the mouse on this point in the Acrobat summary compare, it shows a different size ball and indicates that the police has changed. But actually, nothing has changed.

    I'm curious to know if anyone knows how to keep these elements of flag changes Acrobat. In earlier versions of Acrobat, there was a way to say to ignore the changes of fonts. Maybe someone could tell me how to do this in Acrobat 9...

    One possibility could be that the fonts are not included.

    Hello together,

    I hope, I'm right on this forum with this problem, I have found no other best match.

    I have a single database called apex12D on 12.1.0.2 it's my database of the 5 Apex develompent. Apex 5.0.2 is installed, also the German language of Apex. The OS is Oracle Linux 6.

    On a second machine that I have configured the Oracle Data Service remains with tomcat (installed from the repositories) and apache (also installed deposits), running on the Oracle Linux 7 operating system. This machine is my "http server" to connect to my Apex environment. What makes that I made:
