Specification of the SHUTDOWN options

Version: 10 gr 2

While I was closing a DB of RAC, I noticed that
srvctl stop instance -d orcl -i orcl2 -- Without any options
is faster than
srvctl stop instance -d orcl -i orcl2 -o immediate
That we stop the instance faster?

PS: SURRENDER is not an option for me

Hello

That we stop the instance faster?

Except SHUTDOWN ABORT SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE is to be fastest.

Immediate stop of the database occurs under the following conditions:
No new connections are allowed, no new transactions are allowed to start, after issuance of the statement.
All uncommitted transactions are cancelled. (If long uncommitted transactions exist, this stop method could not fill quickly, despite its name.)
Oracle database does not wait for the users currently connected to the database to disconnect. Implicitly, the database restores all of the active transactions and disconnects all users.

However, in practice, some factors may arise and IMMEDIATE STOP can take a long time.
In the file Instance ALERTLOG, appear the reason to for Instance long stop.

Generally, one of the three that happens:
Uncommitted transactions are cancelled.
SMON is clean temporary segments or the delay block nitrifiants.
Process continue to be connected to the database and is not completed.

So, before issuing an immediate halt, he recommends to check the following views, especially when the database has to be reduced to a very short period of time:

1. for large queries:

select count(*) from v$session_longops where time_remaining>0;

2. for the transactions:

select sum(used_ublk) from v$transaction;

A result greater than 0 for the first query, and a great value returned for the second would mean a time relatively long to wait until the end of the immediate stoppage.

Is no recommendation of the Oracle, but each time that the coup will stop immediately and I check if the problem is associated with lengthy operations, so I kill all processes of the sessions by the operating system. After that, I start the Instance in restricted mode and issue the (normal) stop.

I follow these steps to force the correct stop.

1 check if there is no link present in the database as:

$ ps -eaf | grep LOCAL

It will give you the OSPIDs of the client connected to the database.

2. manually kill them like:

# Kill -9

or you can use this script with care.

The Script below to kill only the sessions remotely on the db10g1 Instance.

for i in `ps -ef |grep "oracledb10g1 (LOCAL=NO)" |grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}'`
do
 echo  kill -9  $i
done

3. follow the ALERTLOG file if instance is stopped.

You can use this docs useful for understanding 'Hangs on SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE':
* What to do and not to do when 'stop' is suspended [375935.1 ID] *.
* How to check why stop immediately crashes? [ID 164504.1] *.
* Stop Normal or stop immediately crashes. SMON deactivation TX recovery [ID 1076161.6] *.

  • Code to change the search option to search QD on the field in the Configuration item on a specific call screen

    We have an obligation to change the search option to search QD on the field in the Configuration item on a specific call screen.

    By default, all our leaders tend to have the default value 'Client' on the field Configuration point QD.  This is the case after that they took the customer on the call screen, when they enter the CI field and press ENTER, it refreshes automatically just the IC, where the selected customer is the owner of the aircraft.

    However, on a screen specific IPK call status, we want the search Configuration option to point QD to always change the option "Config Item Title', not 'customer '.

    No idea how to change this option only if you are using this specific screen and the default value remains the same for all the other forms of appeal?

    Thanks for any help,

    Ian

    Hey Ian!

    Appearently, you can take full control over the default search with a custom script menu item. This is an example how to do this in the Custom_InCallDetails.js file:

    function CustomLoad() {
      var ciqd = da.BTN_ITEM_REFQD;
      if(ciqd){
        var etp = da.ENTITY_TYPE;
        if(etp && etp.value=='7') ciqd.DefaultMenu = "CITYPEQUICK"
        else ciqd.DefaultMenu = "CUSTQUICK";
      }
    }

    (change the number 7 to the entity type Ref you need)

    Unfortunately this change script default for a user permanently. So if he had put any custom value before it is crushed.

    If you need to keep the default values personalized search menu, maybe you need further customization to store the user selected value in a wrapper environment and set the value to return if necessary (just an idea).

  • When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running it hangs and stops the shutdown process.

    When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running, it does not close properly during the closing. Instead, it crashes (as described in this article) and will continue to do so until I have stop the shutdown process and close it manually, where it will still not respond. There is the substantive issue. Here is the list of the relevant data to identify more precisely:

    On the list of programs is still active during the closure, the window of Firefox starts only appearing once as it should be, but a few seconds after starting to hang, it begins to appear a second time on the bottom of the list, with the specific name of the page is a duplicate of whatever it is on the original.

    This problem does not occur in safe mode, but it is not caused by one of my addons either, as I figured out after disabling all my addons with tools > Modules rather than the safe mode and still the problem.

    He is listed as that passes several times a week, but that is simply because that's how many times I forgot to close Firefox before pressing 'closed' and leaves the room without bothering to check it works. It happens whenever I try to turn off the computer with Firefox is running well.

    See this article--> occurs not in Safe Mode

    Check and say whether his work after turning off hardware acceleration.

  • What are the specifications of the Satellite Pro A10

    OK this question isn't quite as noob as it sounds, well not quite...
    The question is, I look at a Satellite Pro A10 for a friend, and he seems to have no Modem connection or wireless, despite the modem plug and the switch at the front for the wireless connection. The machine is second hand, and we see that there was only a software modem of Toshiba used but it seems to have disappeared. None of the devices appear in Device Manager or anywhere else.

    Before starting the assumption that they are faulty is there anywhere on the Web from Toshiba site where I can put the serial number and look at the specifications of the machine when it was purchased (as you can with a Dell :)). It is an old machine and If the wireless has been upgraded optional and it did not buy so it won't of course work but I need to know.

  • Strange behavior of startup and cannot access the tools-> options menu

    Since this morning my LV8 installation does not display the normal startup dialog box (allowing you to open the existing screws or open a new one), but doesn't that immediately opens a new VI.  If I close this new NC and then instead of back to the Startup dialog box it opens a second new (empty) VI.    Furthermore, I can't open the tools-> option menu from a façade of VI.

    I tried to repair the installation of the LV and when that does not work I went for a complete deletion and don't reinstall - still no joy!

    I also check that it is not user specific, so that when I login as a different user on the same PC, I get the same behavior

    Help - please!

    Hi AMHurrel,

    This seems quite strange.

    Have you changed anything on your installation?

    When you say you did a complete removal and reinstall, how?

    Here are the steps I follow:

    The following procedure removes the software Instrument National:

    1. turn off the computer and physically remove or disconnect all devices that you have installed on your system.
    This includes everything-PCI, ISA, USB, 1394-, or based on ethernet.

    2 turn on the computer and go through Add/Remove Programs (START"SETTINGS" control PANEL"Add/Remove Programs)
    and remove all OR related. As a general rule, if you remember, it is best to uninstall things in
    the reverse order in which they were installed. For example, if you installed LabVIEW, then NOR-DAQ, then the
    Internet developers Toolkit for LabVIEW, you must uninstall the Internet firstly, developers kit
    NOR-DAQ, then last LabVIEW.

    3. once everything has been deleted (don't be concerned at this stage if an item still appears in the)
    Ajouter/suppression of programs list after you remove it), close all programs and restart your computer.

    4. go to the START button in your operating system, choose RUN and type 'regedit '. This will open up the registry
    The Editor window. Go to the registry Menu and choose Export registry file. Select 'All' to the export range,
    and select a file name. This creates a backup of the registry in case a mistake is made when you remove the key.

    5. remove the following components of the registry in the Windows registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments remove the entire tree!
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments remove the entire tree!
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\ or \ISA and remove registry entries containing one
    keys with 1093 in them.

    Don't worry if one of these trees are not listed. Continue with the rest of the process.

    Note: You may need to change the security policies. In Windows 2000, 98, 95, NT, go to [regedt32] then
    Security > permissions. In Windows XP, you can change the security using Edit options > permissions in the
    Publisher of the registry (regedit).

    6. close regedit.

    7. make sure that you don't have your own screws or other files in the "C:\VXIpnp."
    "C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a
    different location. If you are concerned about preserving old virtual tracks and your SCXI configuration.
    then save the file "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq", too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.

    Note: If you have Windows NT/2000, replace 'C:\Windows' with 'C:\WINNT' in the path listed above.

    8. save the attached file msiBlast.zip to your desktop.

    (a) extract the msiBlast.exe file from zip archive.
    (b) double click the downloaded msiBlast.exe file to run the executable.
    (c) choose the selection show only installers of NOR.

    (d) using select (Ctrl + left mouse click) of all National Instruments software that appears in MSIBlast.
    (e) press the button uninstall. This allows to uninstall all entries in register MSI of National Instruments.

    (f) Optional:
    The repair option will open the installer of National instruments and run the option fix in the installer.

    Maintenance mode will open the installer and allow the user to change the installation. To open the installation program indicate nothing in command line Arg? Dialog box.

    9. restart your computer.

    10. you should be ready to install your software. For the cleanest possible installation, first install all of your
    software application, such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio development, etc. Perform a custom installation so that you can
    Install just the request WITHOUT DRIVERS EVERYTHING. Restart your PC after each installation request.
    Even if the installation program does not tell you to restart, it would probably be a good idea to do it anyway.
    Now install the software driver and follow the associated user manuals. Some older non-Plug-and-Play hardware
    must be installed before the pilot. Download the latest versions of the drivers that support your hardware
    She draws from our drivers and software updates (link below) and install them one by one, reset after each
    install.

    11. Lastly, stop and re - install your hardware. When you start back, he must be detected in MAX.

    As a general rule, you must have administrative privileges on the remote computer to shut down this computer.  Given that both computers have XP Pro, you are halfway there (remote users always authenticate as 'Guest' on XP Home).  The computer that you are trying to close must have "Simple file sharing" disabled because otherwise you can not authenticate to this computer as anything except the user "guest".  So try to disable Simple file sharing, make sure that your user name and password are the same on both computers and make sure you have administrative privileges on the remote computer, and then you can stop the machine with the command "shutdown".

    In fact, it's easier to use the remote desktop.  Even if you do not have a "Shutdown" option in the start menu, you can always open a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    stop s f t 35
    This will give you 35 seconds to logoff this computer before its judgment (assuming that you have administrator privileges).

  • The desktop printer icon is no longer shows printer or scanner-controls specific to the

    I have a DeskJet 3050 a J611g all-in-one. I use Windows 7 64-bit.

    Normally, when I doule - click the icon for the printer to my desktop, I get a window that shows the image of the printer and the HP logo at the top with several printer options and specific scanner click on below, for example, to start an analysis.

    A few weeks ago, at the top of this window, I received a message, without doubt, windows, that said that there was an update (or development?) for the printing software, and I want to install it. I clicked on OK, something got quickly downloaded and installed, and this beautiful useful window transformed into a window printer Win7 pretty generic. The printer and scanner-specific options or hp disappeared. I always get the picture of the printer and the hp logo, etc., but in the lower part of this window all I see the following options:

    HP printer Assistant / see what's printing / Set Preferences / customize your printer.

    In addition, by clicking or double-clicking on "HP printer Assistant" does nothing. I can no longer start a scan in this window, for example.

    The desktop printer icon is a shortcut to a program ('C:\Program HP HP Deskjet 3050 a J611 series\Bin\HP Deskjet 3050 a J611 series.exe') which seems to do nothing useful.

    I tried to remove and reinstall the printer software, nothing helps.

    I have downloaded and run the HP print and Scan, ver 3.0 doctor. He detected no downside. Finished, I tried to click on this icon to the desktop printer, and, hooray, I got the correct window with specific options that had disappeared. Great, I thought. I was even able to start a scan of this window. But I could do it only once. Subsequent calls to this program took back me to the generic window. And re - run the doctor no longer curative effect, that it was the first time.

    Everyone knows about this problem? I don't do anything fancy, and I'm quite technical and detailed. I do not know how to begin to understand what happened after I agreed that puts the printer software.

    I answer my own message to indicate that the problem has been resolved, at least for me. I found other threads that describe the problem I have, and one of them said there was a new version of the software that solves this problem. I found it, downloaded and installed, and indeed, the issue is resolved. I'm surprised HP Update did not find the new version, but SpongeBob... • The UPnP options

    Just a quick question,

    For most Linksys routers, UPnP has 3 options:

    UPnP: Enabled

    Allow users to configure: Enabled

    Allow users to disable Internet access: Enabled

    Question: What exactly is the operation/functions 'Internal' of the two options of 2nd.

    If I am game on a PS3 / Xbox 360/PC and my application calls specifically for UPnP as Dungeon Siege, or Modern Warfare 2 or Halo 3 (examples) "Power off" of those other 2 options will have a negative effect on the capacity of UPnP to automatically opening and closing of ports for these 3 systems and their applications?

    Or are these options really just who comes to toggle the ability to 'Manual' to force open/closed ports in your Windows operating system, network neighborhood visit, etc. But will not affect the automatic functions of the UPnP capabilities?

    I'm looking for something if all goes well beyond the text of the manual, as it leaves usually pertaining to these questions on important details.

    Okay, so I did some extensive testing...

    A huge reason why there are a ton of people who cannot get their Xbox360 or PS3 to work with UPnP is because you NEED these TWO options "ENABLED" (if you use UPnP and not Port Forwarding or DMZ)

    UPnP = the option to use for "Multiple" game systems behind the Router 1.

    So here it is:

    ROUTER:

    UPnP = 'activated '.

    Allow users to configure: "enabled."

    If "allow users to configure" is disabled, it PREVENTS the PS3/Xbox360 capabilities "Automatic" UPnP of configuring your ports for you.

    Why 'Enable you UPnP' but 'Disable' the option 'allow users to configure?

    Well, the option "UPnP" itself, just makes your network to 'See' the devices. The second option, "Allowing users to set up" is very misleading. Yes allows you to configure your UPnP ports "manually" If you wanted to, but it must ALSO be enabled for UPnP 'Automatically' open/close ports on its own for you.

    * In addition, please be aware, that on some routers "Multicast" traffic must be allowed for the Playstation and Xbox to properly use UPnP and network in order to access some features.

    Security > "Filter Multicast" should be "Disabled unchecked =" that "allows to" multicast traffic.
