Specifications required for the replacement of a hard drive

Hello

I have a Presario CQ60 laptop 212em. If I had to replace my hard drive and could not get a replacement of original HP for my computer, what are the elements of the specification would I need to know when looking for a new from another manufacturer to ensure a smooth transition?  Does anyone know the full spec of this hard drive in mine, or how I can find it? I live in England and the originals of HP are not sold here... no positive result from Google anyway.

Also using HD another manufacturer would affect my use of the HP Recovery discs?

Thank you

You need a laptop SATA hard drive. They are generic and interchangeable and much, much less expensive purchased retail rather than buying directly from HP. I think that well less than 50 pounds will buy a 250 GB or 320 GB. We isolated reported problems with 500 gig and any size of 7200 rpm disks. I have never had these problems, but they are there so to be 100% sure get anything larger than 320 gig and stick with rotational speed of 5400 RPM.

You, the recovery disks to recover on any hard drive, which you put in there.

Here is an example of a good reader on newegg.com and I think they ship to Europe or I don't know that you can find a similar site in the United Kingdom:

  • How to use Ready Boost, and what are the requirements for the use of portable hard drives and flash drives for use with Ready Boost?

I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition and try to get Ready Boost to work on my PC using portable hard drives or flash drives. I have 2 portable hard drives (iomega 120gig, Seagate 250gig) and a 8gig sandisk cruzer flash drive. All this deterioration when you try to use the ready boost said that these discs only are not compatible or not supported. So what do I need?

Not all readers will work with ReadyBoost. There are some readers who actually will specify that they are capable of ReadyBoost.

    By WikiPedia:

    • The device should have an access time of 1ms or less.
    • The device must be capable of 2.5 MB/s for 4 KB random read speeds indicates the spread uniformly across the entire device and 1.75 MB/s write for 512 speed random writes spread uniformly across the device.

You must also put the device and let it plugged in for ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost is therefore best suited for a small thumbdrive (up to 4 GB) that greater thumbdrive or external HD that you would probably be disconnect from time to time.

Open solutions Explorer window, find your Cruzer - right-click on it and click Properties. If there is a ReadyBoost tab, you can set up - set it to dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. It will be implemented and save a file on the USB key. Click Apply and're you good to go.

A caveat which I can testify first-hand. Apparently while booting, Win 7 has trouble with some USB key - it will search the thumbdrive, the operating system, the process of starting to stall and you say: ' Missing Operating System ' - Fortunately the solution is very easy. Shut down the computer, remove the USB key, restart the computer and it will start normally. I had this happen with a 8 GB Cruzer. This seems to be a random thing, because I had the Cruzer plugged in and booted several times without encountering the error of missing operating system message. No idea why or why it is injury. Currently, I use a Kodak USB 2 gig key that seems to work very well.

  • What is the next step after the replacement of a hard drive corrupted/dead, I replaced the original HD.

After realizing that my original on the G56 - 118 CA hard drive died, I bought a new 'Seagate' Momentus 320 G SATA 16 MB 7200 RPM drive.  However, after swapping, install the new disk and using the recovery disk, I create the purchase of the computer... still does not work.  What is my next step... Please help, I'm out of ideas, I copied the drivers on the HP site, but it does not help.  Anyone think of buying a HP recovery disk will do something?

  • Compaq Presario S5000T P8656Q - ABA NA310 motherboard? The information that is required for the replacement of the video card.

My best friend has an ATI Radeon 9200 SE (Shader 1.0 / DX 8.0) and wants to run a program that requires the Shader 2.0 / DX 9 .0c

I'll try to find a compatible video card; I don't know if the motherboard for the NA310 of P8656Q-ABA S5000T Presario is AGP 2 x or 4 x.  I tried to find on the ' net, but no luck. Graphics (Radeon 9550 for $24 again), I found is AGP 4 x / 8 x, so I don't want to buy this if the MB is only AGP 2 x.

Also, I guess the 200/250w PSU would be sufficient for a 9550? It only uses the pc for MS Word, a bit of Youtube and 1 or 2 older games.  If not, anyone know a cheap video card which is AGP or PCI that is capable of Shader 2.0? It is for the sake of compatibility of XNA Framework.

    Thank you!

It seems that the Compaq Presario S5000T desktop computer specifications are no longer available. With this information we can only guess what this thing has AGP connector. Based on HP and Driver Downloads page software, this model uses a 'P4SD - LA motherboard". The only problem is that the 'P4SD - LA"is available in different version at least four over time... Oxford, Cobra, Stingray, Yale, etc.. The good news is that it seems all support at least an AGP 4 x connector and most support a 4 x / 8 x slot.

  • The option for the DM4 beats edition HARD drive

I dm4 beats with i7, 8 GB ram, 1 TB 5400 RPM hard drive. The laptop is very slow during operations and only works very well with fresh install a few days. As I am a heavy user and have a lot of cloud storage apps and use of heavy applications. I think that maybe the HDD at 5400 RPM is the neck of the bottle. So here's my questions-

1 allow moving to SDS significantly faster normal operations?

    2. can I install a msata without removing the hard drive 1 TB - in combination.

    3. What is the difference between msata and sata II, sata III for my thing. CTO3000 model beats editions.

    4. What are the things to be searched with your options suggested by the top. like several card ssd IOPS / s read/write power consumption. keeping in mind tht my requirement is performance and not consumption.  What type of SSD you would suggest. I just want to get a 256 GB cheap entry level ssd. Review crucial, PNY, power of silicon with sub 100 USD range.

Many forums are talking about optimization after installed SSD. So should I worry about something other than the starage facility.

It's a sweet price on this drive PNY 480. I really don't think you can go wrong with it.

I would stay away from the hybrid of 2 black. The comments are not good. You need to load a driver to see the two partitions and performance is not really at the height on the side of the SSD.

  • How have the guest OS disk cleaning disc space come on for the host operating system hard drive?

    People,

Hello. I use VM Player 3. The OS is Windows 7. Guset OS is Windows Server 2003.

Because the host OS Windows 7 C drive is nearly full, I need disk cleanup for drive space in Guset OS Windows Server 2003.

Guest OS Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive parameters:

    Size current 92.5 GB,

    Maximum size of 150 GB.

I use Disk Cleanup tool to clean C:\Document and Settings\Temp\ and temporary Internet Files\ administrator to get 32 GB of disk space. Now my computer in Windows Server 2003:

    Used space: 59.2 GB

    86.2 GB of free space

    145GB total space

But when I check again Windows Server 2003 VM hard drive settings, its current size is 92.5 GB and is not afraid to 59.2 GB after cleaning. Host operating system Windows 7 disc does not come more disk space after cleaning.

My Player VM VM-> settings is not a function of "Shrink" and the program does not "vmware - vdiskmanager.exe" file to run the function of 'shrink '.

    My question is:

How to get the approximately 32 GB (92, 5-59, 2 GB) of disk space happen on Windows Server 2003 VM settings and drive hard host operating system Windows 7?

    Thank you.

    People,

Hello. VMware Tools has tab Shrink to reduce the virtual disk. But the free disk space hard host should be larger that the size of the virtual disk you are reduced to shrink.

The problem is solved by myself. Thank you.

I love the develop module, but I'm doing something wrong in the library

In the library, under 'Catalogue, all the photographs', all my photos appear showing the stars, cropping, and development. The problem is that these changes are not for the photos on my hard drive. When I re-import them in Lr, the changes are not there. My workflow is to do nothing after development or export them to the original with a new file name destination. Anyway, it is that they get a new file name without change of development when they are imported into Lr.  Please help (PC user)

And others have explained, Lightroom does not apply the changes to the file. All changes are stored in the catalog, and then applied to the image when it is displayed in Lightroom. If you want a copy of the image with any changes so that you can share with others or send it to a laboratory to print, then you must export a copy of this image by using the export dialog box in Lightroom.

Features of Lightroom as well by its design. The images that you import are always left in their original condition, unmodified.

  • Replacement has no HARD drive

I have a T61 with the Seagate 160 G 7200 RPM HARD drive.  The HARD drive has failed which led to the infamous BSD.  I was unable to use the recovery & rescue integrated as it fails, likely due to HARD drive problems.  So I purchased and installed a WD 320 G 7200 RPM Scorpio Blue SATA HDD.  I also called Lenovo and bought a set of rescue & Recovery CD.  When I launched the R & R set, it reports an error on Disc1 and continues to run in the recovery process, but dies with the error "there are no file list of modules.  In desperation, I reinstalled the original disc of 160 G and re-run R & R.  He was running very well and turned on my T61.  But I trust is more than HARD drive since he already had bad sectors.  So, I put the new 320 G disk HARD back in and I tried R & R once again.  I had the same error 'there no module do list file.  So, the mistake of R & R is related to the new HARD drive.  Hmm, I thought that I could clone the old 160G for the new 320 G HARD drive.  So I put the old 160G HARD drive in a USB enclosure and the new 320G disk HARD in the Bay T61 and run Acronis to clone from the old to the new.  As you can imagine the clone fails due to errors of area on the old HARD disk.  So, I'm stumped on how to get the T61 running with the new HARD drive.  Any ideas why R & R fails with the error "there is no file list of modules?

Well, I think I've solved my problem.  "When I was using the R & R disc set, an error will be generated on the recovery of the product 1 disk saying: ' the wrong volume is mounted" and telling me to reinsert the disk recovery & rescue original.  So, I then inserted the R & R disc and click 'Retry '.  The recovery process would then immediately ask product Recovery Disk 2 and start the process.  7 discs later, I would get the error "there is no list of modules file" and the process could fail.

This time, on the first 'bad volume' error, I left Product Recovery 1 in the drive and clicked on continue.  Now, the process has continued and the rest of the product disc 1 (which it didn't when I followed the instructions in the error message).  After that, everything flowed on properly and moved to the Windows installation that is running now - fingers crossed.

So, there's something funky in this error "wrong volume".  As to why it occurs with a nice new HARD drive and does not work with old HDD failure and why the error is not treated correctly by the resumption of the process, I have no idea.

BTW, the docs that come with the unit R & R are quite sad.  They do not match the process at all.  For $50, Lenovo could have done better.

  • A temperature probe is really necessary for the replacement of the hard drive?

I replaced the hard drive in my late 2009 iMac 21.5 ". In the OWC video, he calls for a probe. My hard drive is not one of the built-in ones. I was wondering if I really need or the computer will work fine without it?

Well without it your HD fan will be clocked at high speed all the time. The good news is that you can also control the fans/temp via the software. Here is a free software that works very well. http://www.eidac.de/

  • Satellite T130 - stuck on the loading screen - new hard drive required

After a message on the screen saying back up your hard drive, it will fail quickly and pressing F1 it seems so stuck on the loading screen. I'm not too good with computers. I just have to buy a new hard drive to get the laptop working again, or is much more complicated than that. My guess is this one.

Thanks in advance for any help provided

The first question is: did you create recovery media (USB key)?
If do not do this if for a long time your HARD drive works OK. original recovery image is saved on the HARD drive, but you must have it USB backup that you can use to install if the disk needs to be replaced.
Do it as soon as possible. More info on what you can read in s operating manuals.

What to do with the HARD drive? In my opinion if long as it works it has no reason to panic. Use your laptop as usual. If you notice some performance or more error messages problems I think that you should replace it.

Replacing the HARD drive doesn't have to be so problematic. HARD drive cover must be placed in the lower corner of your laptop. The smallest is RAM and cotyledon should be for the HARD drive. Check it out.

Before do you that this is remove the battery and unplug your computer laptop AC adapter / CC.

If you have no experience with such things please don't made some risky step. You can damage something.

would you like to work in VGA connector and when I use tha Port DVI form map

For the factor, I put the motherboard can configure the card

I have all the equipment, power supply, HARD drive...

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

This card is perhaps too powerful to 240W power supply that has your PC.

I would go with a less powerful card like the Radeon HD 6450.

Also before installing the video card, uninstall you the card integrated Intel graphics and check the driver to uninstall before installing the nvidia card?

NVIDIA used to list the current of each of their cards, but now when I click on the sheet for the 8600 GT, I get very little info.

    http://www.GeForce.com/hardware/desktop-GPUs/GeForce-8600-GT/specifications

The PCI x 16 slot in your PC has a certain power of only 25W max draw and I'm sure that the 8600 GT draws more power than that.
