Is it possible to upgrade SSD drive en 128 GB to 256/512 GB?

Would update the warranty?

See page 35 of the manual here:

Yes, you can switch to a 512 GB SSD. This is the form factor that you need:

Let us know if you need more information. It is quite a difficult question, and this to jeopardize security. HP would not save you if something is broken in the process, but the warranty will remain if you remove without damage.

  • Spectrum 13D-3000: what format SSD does my spectrum 13D need (want to buy more large SSD)?

I have run out of room on the 128 GB SSD which is preinstalled on my spectrum 13D-3000, and I want to move to a 256 GB.

But it looks like there are a lot of different physical sizes of SSD, so how I don't know one that will suit to my laptop?

I found this YouTube video that seems to show a guy replacing the SSD on the exact model that I have, and it seems to be a 80 mm m2 SSD...

Is there a way I can be sure of that without having to open my laptop?

    See page 30.

Google images, here is an image of the gig 256:

It's a 80 mm m2 WSSD, I think. You do not have to use this exact part, just the same form factor.

  • Spectrum 13D-3000CTO: a strange behaviour after upgrade windows 10

Hi all, I wonder if anyone has had the question I had, and if so if you solved it, how is it resolved?

I have improved my 13D to windows 10 when it was available to me, then I noticed that my windows, left alt key and the caps lock light no longer work, however the other keys and lights work. Yes, they worked in windows 8.1, but who wants to go back?

    Hello

You did do a restore of the BIOS, and then test the lights before you did update the BIOS? You did answer this question previously. The system must have a BIOS restore done before additional troubleshooting. The restoration itself without updating was the resolution for many.

As a last resort, please use the following link to create yourself a file number:

Step 1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Hello I was just wondering if its possible to upgrade the ssd of this ultrabook? I looked online for some asnwers but couldn't find one, so I decided to ask here.

Yes, but it is not easy and will jeopardize the warranty. See pages 32-33 of this manual, which is the closest thing out there for your model:

  • Envy 14 spectrum scalability

    Hello

I'm new to the forum. I recently bought an Envy 14 spectrum with an i5 3317u and 4 GB of ram... I have yet to receive it.

I watched some videos on YouTube showing that this laptop has a second msata for an additional ssd slot and a slot ram single at the back of the card mother, accessible only if you disassemble the laptop.

I want to add a second 480 GB ssd and eventually replace the 4gig ram stick with a 8gig one.

Might void my warranty if I make these changes? Or can I freely add the ssd, but does not replace the ram stick?

Another question, what are your thoughts on this laptop? I bought mainly for University (computer science), but I also want to edit my newborn son 1080 p videos every now and then... is it be a pain in the thigh or it would feel smooth to work on 1080 p video files (with the exception of export times, which are not a big problem for me).

The Envy 14 spectrum maintenance & Service guide indicates that the SSD is customer accessible.

It also shows there is space fot two SSD drives.

Adding an another SSD will not invalidate your warranty.

However, there is no guarantee that the addition of a 480 GB SSD to the Envy 14 spectrum will work as expected. It cannot be supported for one SSD of this capability in the BIOS.

  • Upgrade SSD on Ultrabook spectrum XT 13210

    Hello

I am very happy with my XT of spectrum 13210 - but the128 GB SSD is almost full, I want to replace it with a 256 GB.

So 2 questions: 1) that I can use the UO mSATA 2.5 "- 840 EVO - SATA III - 250 GB, I have to stick to an older model?" (2) what is the process to clone my 129 existing 8 GB on the new?

    Thanks in advance!

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    See Page 35.

To clone the concert in car on a 256 128 you must software cloning and a WSSD USB adapter. I just bought one myself so I know they are out there.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/USB-3-0-mSATA-SSD-adapter-as-USB-disk-driver-/291020566355?PT=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item43c22d6f53

You will need software such as Acronis True Image Home, making a fully functional trial of 30 days of cloning:

    http://www.Acronis.com/

You can make a bootable usb stick of Acronis to make the cloning operation. Select the option of sizing all partitions will be increased by the same percentage.

Yes the WSSD Samsung 840 will work well for you.

You should maybe disable secure boot and enable the legacy startup to boot from the usb key if you have Windows 8.

  • Adding second SSD to envy 14

Hello, I recently bought a HP Envy spectrum 3010NR (?) (128 GB SSD, i7) and I was wondering what the process would be to add a second SSD on my own?

I found a manual online (thanks to this site =)) that details how to get to the SSDS (for some reason, I can't post the link of the PDF, but there simply shows how to access the SSD drives and gives a part number 675508-001 for the 128 GB SSD). 33 page I think. Sorry, I don't know why it wouldn't bind.

I then used the references listed in this guide to find spares (a second SSD for the empty disc) on HPs website and found this, however being a big enough SSD at a price as cheap (most other SSD, I found online were double this price), I was suspicious that I was looking at the wrong part Maybe? Can anyone confirm this to be the correct SSD, I need, and they ordered this on the site before for envys them?

In addition, I have to update the BIOS settings, or change other settings of the computer, before I could access the storage space, someone had this type of operation performed with their envys?

Thank you very much for your time and assistance!

Hi guys and girls (if applicable)

I have good news for all fans of HP Envy 14 spectrum if you had any doubts, you can install more than 256 GB of SSD.

The answer is YES, but more probably final success will depend on the brand of the drive you choose. If I were you, I'd go for Samsung I did. Not only are they (in my opinion) the best SSDS now, but also, these are they that HP uses in your computer to build factory, but to the point...

I have two models model HP Envy 14 spectrum 3100 and 3200 and in the two tof them I managed to install two new SSD hard drive of 250 GB Samsung EVO mSata and 1 TB Samsung EVO mSata!

Both have same configuration with system of 250 GB and 1 TB as s storage drive and the two running with Windows 7, although they already are with this piece of crap Win8. So I put matching drivers and everything works flawlesly for several months now. No problem with suddenly disappear SSD or any type of strange events or suspected.

It may be that helpful to someone who needs more space and wants to spend this beautiful machine.

  • A video editing system reviews please

    Hello

I'm an amateur seriously/user of a lot of the Adobe PS, Illustrator and, more recently, Premiere Pro family.  I got a lot of cloud composition.

My question is (and I know that there is the entire spectrum of kit here of very high quality low end, more v Mac PC) - what would ppl catalog as a good place to high end system for me. It is currently:

    ASUS P7X79 Pro mobo,

    16 GB Ripjaws 2400 mhz DDR5,

    Intel i7 3930 K 3.2 Ghz,

    Intel SSD 250 GB (Boot),

2 x WD 500 GB in RAID (storage media) Raptor drives,

2 x 120 GB SSD drives the two zero.

ATI HD 7950 3 GB graphics card (I know that NVIDIA for MPE) but I can't justify buying a card Quadro that this system is just 8 months and was well suited to the job chart and illustration.

NEC PA301W 30 "IPS screen (25th anniversary of marriage are present)

To give an indication of speed it performs video processing currently - a 2560 x 1600 at 60 fps, which is in .avi format, gives me raw images 4 GB every minute - if put through the SOUL and encoded in 1920 x 1080 using H.264 30 fps AAC, it takes 4 minutes to deal with each of them.  These settings give me end of good quality against the size of the file.

Is this reasonable? Perhaps I could change anything, and what would you recommend if this is the case?  and if anyone has comments on the parameters, that is, they should be something else, feel free. I learn the program through adobe IPC and a well known video training online.

I'll take all the help/advice you can offer.

  • Spectrum Analyzer?

    Hi all

I am looking to invest in a DAW for audio work (obviously), but I'm torn between Logic Pro X and Adobe Audition CC. I'm not a fan of the Adobe subscription model so I would invest in LPX, but the problem is that I can't find the function that I need.

Adobe Audition CC has a Spectrum Analyzer and allows me to eliminate noise from my soundscapes, but I can't find the feature in LPX. Y at - it to download a plugin or a way to do this? I don't do music production, I am more than a sound designer for the theater and cinema and use recorded sounds so clean and restore is more what I'm looking for. I am rather new to this and would like any input you can provide.

    Thank you!

I've been a user of the logic for many years, but I use Izotope RX as a plug-in (s) in the logic for a serious cleanup work.

  • Spectrum x 360: bios boot menu and boot times

Serial number (deleted content) product number T1D62EA #ABU

I'm a bit disappointed by the time which takes about 25 seconds to start. The main delay seems to be the time taken before the HP logo appears. It takes about 5 or 6 seconds until appear a message "press the esc key to access the boot menu", and then another a few seconds before the HP logo. After that, it is very fast.

Is it possible to start directly on the HP logo?

Before buying this laptop I buy one from Microsoft Store (decided to change because of the largest SSD hard drive) and this book started in 1.1 seconds. I believe it was a Signature Edition of the spectrum x 360 and there was apparently no bloatware, although I don't know if this affects startup time.

    @bigals55ajr

    Thank you for the update,

As you mentioned on the various changes that you have made,
I was wondering if the problem is now solved, and if there is anything else I can help you.

    Keep me posted,

    Kind regards

  • 13D - 4000 x 360 spectrum: spectrum HP x 360 will not load or start

Last week my spectrum of x 360 battery is discharged and it prompted me to plug into the charge. I plugged in and the laptop was not charging. I tested the plug and inspected the charger/port to see if there is damage.  Everything is in perfect condition, or the cell phone or the charger have been abandoned or damaged. Called HP support and the laptop is out of warranty a month... Ordered another charger and the laptop still doesn't load.  The LED next to the switch used to blink 3 times and the laptop would not boot. Now, the light flashes at all. X 360 support messages reading it looks like others have had the same question and he had a failed motherboard. This is a problem is there anything else I can do? Very disappointed in this whole situation, given that I spent on the laptop and the timing of this question.

  • Removable HP X 2 spectrum: Spectrum X 2 lights as it should

Just recently, whenever I try to turn on my spectrum HP X 2 detachable off, she, she turns. The F6 Mute button has the light, on which seems to indicate that the device can be on, but the screen is not.

To turn the unit on, I stuck the power button until the silent witness of F6 turns off, as if he was arrested and then press the power button to restart the unit upwards.

Someone at - it an idea what could cause this problem or how I could continue on set?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @IHaveQuestions,

Thanks for reaching out! It is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that your computer does not turn on the F6 button is turned on and you must hold down the power button for a few seconds until the mute turns off and press the switch again for her to run again. I'll be happy to help you with this.

You did a great job of troubleshooting before you post your question in the forums of HP. Kudos to you for this. Great job! You're an HP customer, and we greatly appreciate you for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

First of all, it looks like a hardware problem with the device. Some circuits inside that may still be causing the key (Mute) F6 to continue to stay on, even when the machine is supposed to be stopped.

Let's first try a hard reset: link to: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768

    • First of all switch off the unit and unplug the charger.
    • Hold down the power and buttons to Mute (on the right side of the Palm) for 8 to 10 seconds.
    • Then turn on the unit to check if the situation is corrected. If it persists, remove the keyboard from the computer after the power off again.
    • Switch on the device to verify if the situation has been corrected.
    • If it continues, please detach the keyboard with the power on and power off the unit. Wait a few seconds and it can save and reattach the keyboard and check.
    • Finally, if all else fails, let the battery drain is completely down and then repeat steps.
    • If it continues then the computer may need to be repaired because it may be a hardware problem with the device.

I hope this helps. I would like to know how this happens. I really hope that the problem is solved without hassle and the unit works very well. Believe me, I've done everything I can to help by keeping your interests in mind. Please reach out for questions and I'll be there for you help.

Just to say thank youPlease click the ' Thumbs Up ' button to give a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help me. If it helps, Please mark this "accepted Solution" because it will help many other people with the same problem to get it resolved without hassle.

  • X 360 spectrum: spectrum HP x 360 under linux

    Hi, I bought a new HP spectrum x 360,

For my work, I have to run the simulation trought OpenFOAM is easyer for me to use Linux.  Almost everything works out of the box, except one... sound thing.  I post a bug on launchpad, here the link:

Spectrum of bug Hp x 360

Like almost everything that you want to debug the phenomena. I know that you have not officially support linux on this computer, but it would be fun to be at least compatible linux.

    Thing I know:

There was a bug that really resemble this one on the Dell XPS 13. The bug was in the bios that was setting his alternative map that did not work. In my opinion, is the same thing here. I need to find a way to tell the bios to load everything as if it's windows 8.1 (Yes, I just don't ask for any special treatment.)

    Thank you

I'll give you all the support you need. I really want to fix this bug.

PS: (HP if you correct this bug you will sell more than three of these computers, they all want one in the lab!)

    Follow-up:

It looks that we now are hable to use mode strives of the sound card. It is good, but not perfect. The fix for the i2c will come soon, last kernel code ask a file mysterious drivers that does not currently exist in the directories of the linux firmware. Therefore, this case is closed because the only such issue. Follow the improvement furter launchpad bug.

    * THE SOLUTION CAN NOT BE THE SAME FOR YOUR DISTRIBUTION *.

    Of Spano:

If you use gummiboot , you should have something like this:

    options acpi_osi ="! Windows 2013 ' acpi_osi ='! Windows 2012 "acpi_backlight = vendor root = / dev/sda2 rw

The solution to the title of this post is for Debian-based distro. I'll put the solution for the other activities of distribution on this post, if they are on the forum. (You can't find it? Adjust the solution to adapt to your distribution and post-its, you make people happy )

    I SOLVED IT!

After hours of pain, I can now use the integrated sound card with headphones, as well as the internal speakers.

    How to:

    Change grub config by:

    'sudo vim/etc/default/grub.

    Change the line:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash".

    TO:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_backlight = vendor = acpi_osi'!" Windows 2013 'acpi_osi ='! Windows 2012' "

    Then run:

    'sudo update-grub ".

    Restart twice.

BOOM! The sound works in the headphones. The sound card is now in mode HDA (not I2S).

    To confirm, run:

"aplay-l" and make sure that you have the following in the output:

"map 1: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: analog ALC3242 [analog ALC3242].
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 '

    I use the Linux kernel spectrum 3.19.0 - 21-generic #21 - Ubixuntu SMP on Ubuntu x 64.

    ARO

    Ingmar

EDIT: Even the speakers work, they have just muted in Alsamixer. Hallelulja!

Edit2: Added the 'acpi_backlight = vendor' for parameter input on the options line, based on @spano. Thank you!

Edit3: Difficulty as pointed out by venividivici24
