Speed of transfer on rn204

Hello. I'm new to this NAS environment and need to know a thing or two to see if things are good or if there could be a problem.

I'm copying the data (pictures, videos and CAD drawings, etc.) from the PC to my RN204.

The PC is running Win7 and an i7 PROCESSOR WITH 16Gig of Ram.

NAS had 4 new red WD 3 TB HARD drive installed. The Installer seems to have smooth and I think it's Raid5.

The problem (I think) is that copies data to the NAS, I'm average 11.8 MB/sec speed. Is this normal?

If I connect a drive external HARD in a docking station directly on the NAS, either by using the 3 USB or e-sata connections, the speed remains the same.

I downloaded the performance Tester as suggested in other posts and the speed I'm teaching is above that. On the screen for the copy of the data, it is a little less. 10 Mbps

I'm not sure these speeds because if I copy data from one HARD drive to another either internally or to the docking station I see the speed of 80-90 MB/sec.

What I'm misunderstanding or hurt, am I?

Any suggestions or help appreciated. If it can be kept simple, I would be very grateful. Thank you very much. Jez

Update!

I bought a switch and connected to all upward. Transfer speeds are now more in line with what I expected. Copy a folder of mixed news (photos, docs, pdf, xls s/sheets) and exceed 50 MB/s.

Much better. Just to say thanks to StephenB and Sandshark for all the help figure this. If this speed is what I should get a lot. If she could be higher, I'd be interested to hear other ideas.

    Hello

How fast do you expect? According to the files on your source and target structure. 20-23 MB/s is a good sspeed. If you have hundreds of small files, the speed will drop more. What software do you use for backup? If only purely copy, please try a product called TeraCopy, this will start the speed up to 10% to 20%

You may consider setting up to use a time based on check-in.  In order to keep the size of 1 G, but the archive size is just what data is there when the archive is created.  It's much smaller than I'm used to it, so apologies for that.  See the init parameter archive_lag_target.  There are, of course, to many ways to set up DG.

ALS is a document that defines (among other things) the speed at which you can recover.  15 or 20 minutes is often suggested for when companies are unable to arrive at a precise definition.   So every 15 minutes, the db spits out a newspaper, DG move more and the applied.  Some deliberately put places in a lag time too much, then you can "pull the plug" If you know someone has screwed up bigtime, without having to make a recovery.  You also must define exactly how you will apply newspapers (there are a number of options, make sure that you understand the concepts) and expectations for the digital switchover and how to deal with the app and substitution.

It is unlikely that there is something in the hardware of your laptop that is the problem of writing speed.

You will get different results with different devices depending on the size and the type of file that is transferred as test or real.

It is as @banhien says, if you want really high speed usb 3.0, then you will need to go to a notabook of latest generation with native usb 3.0 ports. Read up on it. There is a lot of information on usb 3.0 of the firmware and hardware available online for your reading pleasure.

  • Wireless AC slow (and different) read/write speeds

    Hi all

I just bought a new Mac Mini and unfortunately it is too far from my media server to run an ethernet cable (I just moved) so I use an Airport Extreme (new model with AC Protocol).  But the read speeds seem to be slow I can't broadcast some movies from high on the server bandwidth.  I tested the speed of transfer, and it seems that I get the following:

    READ: 24 MB/s (or 192 MB/s)

    WRITE: 8 MB/s (or 64 Mb/s)

Can someone explain to me why these speeds are not the same?  And should not be a lot faster?  I get full signal and I joined technical details if this helps to explain anything. I would like to know what speeds you guys get with your Airport Extreme.

    Thank you!

How far is your Mac to your server?

There the walls or something in the line of fire?

Have you tried the 2.4 GHz connection instead?

    Hi Harald

As you know for each transfer of data there are two participants. One of them is the source of data and another received the data. In my opinion, it will be interesting to know which device is responsible for changes in data transfer speed.

  • Internet connection with a wired network card Gigabit speed limit

Can you reach 150 speed Mbps Internet connection on a computer running Win XP SP3 and IE8 with the help of the Gigabit wired network adapter?
What kind of drivers are required in such a case?
Currently, I have 150 Mbps of connection, and what I get according to the speed tests is of the order of 60 Mbps with pings of 30 to 60 ms.
My troubled wired adapter is TP-LINK Model: TG-3269-based Realtek RTL-8169SC chipset and its driver: rtnicxp.sys, v.5.649.0615.2006 (WinDDK) provided by Realtek

The fact that your Ethernet card is theoretically capable of 1000 Mbps does not mean that everything in the path between your computer and the fiber cable (which is what your ISP based his spec 'speed' on) is capable of the same way.

    For example:

    • What type of cable you are using between the computer and the modem/router... and how long is it?  You did the cable yourself or did you buy it with the connectors already attached?  You must at least Cat 5 cable and attach the connectors yourself is not recommended, unless you have a good amount of experience doing.
    • What brand/model/version of your modem/router?  It has the latest firmware installed?

You have a second computer that also has a Gigabit network?  If so, check the transfer speed of A computer through the router to computer B (i.e. What is the transfer speed of your LAN, completely apart from the speed of transfer between you and your ISP).  Use a stopwatch and a large file or use a utility such as LAN Speed Test.

What TG-3269 version do you have?  The current one is V3.

Assuming you have v.3, you appear not to have the latest version of the driver (though I doubt that's the problem).  The package labeled TG-3269_XP_beta a 5.719.0325.2009 XP driver version.  http://www.TP-link.com/en/support/download/?model=TG-3269&version=v3#tbl_a

  • USB 3.0 connecting high-speed USB 2.0 drive

I have a Western Digital 1 TB USB 3.0 external hard drive. I connect it to the USB 3.0 port (blue) on my laptop Acer Aspire 5755-6647, who works under Windows 7 x 64.

When you connect, I get the "this device can perform faster: this USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super Speed USB 3.0 port" message. When you copy files to the drive, I get about 32 MB/s, which corresponds to a USB 2.0 speed.

I tried to disable the USB power management in the utility USB 3.0 host controller. I tried to uninstall the device and put it back. I'm using the cable supplied with the disc and is a USB 3.0 cable. I have the latest Renesas USB 3.0 driver installed (2.0.34.0). I also tried to use an older driver from Renesas. My BIOS is updated (P5WE0121).

I don't know what else to do. If it helps, the first time I have connected my laptop hard drive, it's on a USB 2.0 port (I had for some reason any remembered which side of the laptop had the port 3.0 and does not check for blue). As I have said, however, I completely uninstalled the device. I suspect that Windows can be "remember" the device and install with the 2.0 driver.

Update: I finally try one last thing before you go to Acer support. I thought that perhaps not enough power provided by my USB 3.0 port on the drive, forcing him to 'downgrade' 2.0. So I bought a cable to Yfor $5 to offer auxiliary power of the adjacent 2.0 port. Result: IT WORKS. Immediately connected as a USB 3.0 peripheral speed and transfer is USB 3.0.

Solved. A little disappointed with the Acer/Intel for the USB 3.0 under normal, however.

  • Slow WRH54G wireless file transfer

    Good day to all!

I'm having a problem with the speed of transfer of files on my WRH54G. It is rated at 54Mbps theoretically, but I'm just about 12 Mbps from my laptop to the office and vice versa. I tested different file sizes, but it gives the same result.

I already tried to address the issue of the speed, but I'm having no luck at all. Let me to you the facts straight first.

-J' have 3 computers, 1 laptop and 2 desktops. All have G wireless cards installed with updated drivers. Also, they run Windows 7 with all updates installed. The computers are used just for the office and surf the internet.

-The router is set to G-only and has WPA-TKIP encryption. I put the IP 192.168.2.1 because it is connected to a modem/router that provides the internet connection. Everything else is default. I have not updated the firmware because it is not available.

-1 desktop is 5 meters from the router and the other desktop is just 1 meter. Using my laptop, I can sit anywhere close to the router. No blocking or wall between the two.

-My internet connection is 2 Mbps.

What else could go wrong? I'd appreciate some tips to get at least half of the 54 Mbps. thanks!

Card Fast ethernet has a theoretical maximum of 100 Mbps. In reality, you will usually see on 90 Mbps. If you can get 95 Mbps it is fine. But this is only possible because on a thread, you have little interference. The router's ethernet ports are switched, which means that you have the full bandwidth (which is 100 100 upstream and downstream) available on each port.

The theoretical maximum is 802.11 g 54 Mbps. You can reach this speed if you do not use ethernet 802.11 Protocol but a different collision free Protocol. In extremely good circumstances with absolutely no interference, you might be able to see maybe 40 - 45 Mbps.

In reality (or better my experience) you usually can wait more then half the maximum bandwidth, i.e. circumstances 'means' with limited interference. Remember that unlike cable, connections, you have separated the top/down to connections, which means the traffic in both directions shares the same wireless 'media '. This by definition creates a first level of interference even in a simple configuration: the sender and the receiver will intervene.

How bad interference by circumstances is difficult to measure. You could do the measures with professional equipment to find out. But of course, it's bit expensive given the price tag of the router...

Even if you turn off all other electronic devices, you might think again you will see a lot of your own signals radio simply by reflection interference. Surfaces, walls, materials in the wall, etc. all can reflect part of the signals sometimes causing interference.

Also remember that all other routers in the area interfere with your radio signals get a good network sniffer and scanning for networks (i.e. including those which are hidden). If you find a large number, you will have many interference simply because of the existence of these routers. Each router frequently sends its signal beacon (I think that generally 10 - 20 times per second). So, chances are that very frequently an ELT signal will ruin your transmission and a packet should be retransmitted.

Of course, make sure that the SSID of your router is unique. If you use the standard "linksys" you can very well see interference from an another Linksys router nearby on the same SSID.

And if I remember correctly: the WRH54G was the lowest end of Linksys device. I guess it was not built to run extremely well.

So try a network scanner to see other networks nearby. You can also try a packages such as wireshark sniffer to see intellectual property transmissions. If you find a lot of broadcasts in IP is perhaps the cause of your slow performance.

Try another router may be a good idea for comparison.

  • Download/Download blackBerry Smartphones Maximum speeds?

I have a BB 9700 "BOLD". I was testing the speed of data transfer using an app called "NetWorkSpeed" on the app store. No matter how fast my network connection has been, it seemed that the bold has been capped at a maximum speed of about 250 Kbps, two additions or downloads. It's using a 3G connection, or my house Wi-Fi. My House Wi-Fi should be able to make downloads of 6000 Kbps and 800 Kbps post; but the "BOLD" has never led neighbors of those. Now, it is a test of speed that is done only to the device, not a captive computer or something like that. A captive computer seems to be able to transfer more quickly through the "BOLD", "BOLD" can transfer to himself. Is this a real limitation with the "BOLD", or something else going on here?

BTW, I connected my PC to my "BOLD", use the "BOLD" as its modem, and I could get 1.9 Mbit/s/330 Kbps with it. Not as fast as my home Wi-Fi, but respectable. But much, much faster than the Blackberry can transfer to himself.

Due to the complexity of the entire network of BlackBerry service, and how it works through RIM servers, make it difficult to calculate the speed of transfer. Unlike all other phones, all data from one blackberry phone go directly to RIM servers, then to where she was originally meant to go. So to reduce the amount of data, RIM is approaching the excess data, which are used by speedtests to calculate speed. This results in low transfer rate calculations.

The 3G speed is based on the network.
The speed that show you are much lower than they should be. He speedtests lots are not available for BlackBerry phones. I remember using 1 Web site specially designed to calculate rates for blackberry phones and it capped download speeds to 500 for everyone over 3 G, but on wifi, it showed almost 80% equal to what was the broadband speed.

I'll try looking for this link.

RIM: Research In Motion, the company that makes BlackBerry.

    I hope this helps.

  • performance issues and connectivity at random

Hi all, I have a new rn204 I have some problems with.

    my current setup is:
    ReadyNAS 204 6.5.1
    3 x red new WD 3 to x-raid 25% free
    1 x 1 GB link to router (asus rtn66u)

the first issue I see is intermittent from speed in transfer large files. Normal performace is about 110 MB/s, which is to saturate the line but I saw at random speeds fall at 100 kb/s

2nd edition: ping the IP address of the nas are often 50%, 75%, 100% of loss on 4 pings. most of the time it's good, but sometimes not.
3rd edition: the nas has been itself reassign to an ip at random in the range 169.254.x.x 192.161.57 about once per day, I configured for a static ip address but conectivity will die (can't ping and the router can not see) every day or almost.

usually the problems disappear if I pull (good quality cat6) ethernet cable in the back and reconnect it.
Sometimes this also pushed (or worse) transfer speeds if they are slow.

    pls send help!
