SPFile automatic backup restoration

Hello

I tried to restore a spfile from automatic backup - using the rman catalog.

The database is down, I restarted forcefully startup nomount and set the database id.
Autobackup controlfile and spfile are defined, too.

When I published "spfile automatic backup restoration" the restored failed, because no valid backup piece has been found.

The command restore spfile to autobackup db_recovery_file_dest = db_name "/ u03/data/DB01/flash" = "DB01"; did the trick.

In my mind it's a bit strange. Yes, this is not the default value for flashback_area.  But I expect that the opportunity db_recovery_file_dest (under backuppath) are stored in the recovery catalog.

This behavior is normal? or "user of a stupid mistake?

Concerning

Christian

If you use the command in RMAN catalog below should work.

RMAN target / catalog user/pass@rcvcat

RMAN >

Set the DBID =;

startup nomount force;

restoring automatic backup SPFile;

stop immediately;

Run {}

until time to_date (timestamp,)

startup nomount

Restore controlfile;

bootable media;

restore the database;

recover the database;

}

  • Planning Protection System (Backup/Restore Points)

    It's actually a repeat of my previous post unresolved since a couple of months.  I want to program creating AUTOMATIC backup/restore by 'System Protection' points.  I don't know of DATA BACKUPS.  I just "let the question slide"... pending, until today when I received an e-mail inquiry HP which brought me back to the question.  I decided not to continue the previous thread, because it degraded in my frustrating rantings.  Here is my original post.

    . . .

    I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-110 t, Windows7 Home Premium computer.  I want to change my schedule for the creation of the Protection system of backups of the system (not the data files).  It seems that it is currently set for monthly backups (unless, I suppose, a '' significant '' event occurs).  In accordance with the recommendations of the new documentation of the computer, I have not shut down the computer during the night; I let it go to sleep so that automatic "tricks" can occur on the calendar.  Occasionally, the next morning, he has rebooted & waiting for my password.

    I just had a problem with the icons on the desktop freeze... has not responded to the command.  I considered what to do a system restore, but in my research, I was told that there is no restore point.  I started to panic... I didn't know that the magic words were "system protection".  Now, I think that what I was told was that my data had not been automatically saved.  Finally, I took a deep breath and restarted.  Fortunately, which fixed the problem of the frozen... icon but he left the more serious problem of no backup/restore points.  I dropped everything & began to study.

    Finally, I ran into Control Panel / System / System Protection & found 2 points, including 1 that is apparently automatic around midnight the 21st of each month restoration.  I decided to increase the frequency of twice a month.  But I'm only the DVD RW drive to a backup destination.  This is not what I want.  I want the same destination (original) does not change. I guess that's the drive C (or D-Drive).  All I want to do is change the programmed frequency.

    I used before backup/restore points on other computers without problems.  Everything was pretty simple & straight forward.  What I'm missing here?

    Thanks for any help that can be provided.

    Hi Jim,.

    Well I think I have a solution.  It seems that Scheduler tasks won't that create 1 catering point in a 24 period time - after 24 hours has passed, it will create another since the first trigger, which becomes valid.  Forinstance so (after 24 hours), if the trigger is to create a restore point at startup and at 09:00, if you started the computer at 08:00 a restore point will be generated and relaxation at 09:00 will be ignored.  That is why, in a time which is within 24 hours of the last created Restore point does not work.  In the screenshots following are parameters that should allow you to set a time for your restore point planned to create.  There is a way to check if it works - after setting the calendar, you must remove the existing restore Points.  Then, you should find that the next outbreak valid (ie the defined time period) will now create a restore point as shown in the last screenshot.  Details on the removal of the existing restore points is at the end of the third screenshot - just remember when setting the time you want your restore point to create, give yourself plenty of time to edit the task and remove the existing restore points.

    With the above setting is applied, Task Scheduler to close, open windows control panel, open system, click on the System Protection link, click on configure and then click on Remove to remove the existing restore points.  Once completed, just wait the time set the trigger to activate.  After a few minutes, you should see the task is executed correctly and created a restore when you - these are my results below.

    As you can see, the Restore Point reports correctly that it was created at 19:50, the time that I put in the Task Scheduler.

    If you have any questions in this regard, please let me know.

    Kind regards

    DP - K

  • after update, the Favorites have disappeared. There is no automatic backup in the last 2 months. under the restoration, it gives me the possibility to restore until today.

    all of a sudden I have no Favorites.

    I read to all bookmarks, clikc backup and restore, restore and it will list the last 10 backups. the only listed backup is starting today, and no bookmarks are added when I restore

    I also saw to look on the desk in the old firefox files... most recent automatic backup was 2 months ago... it's too old

    I can't find the latest bookmarks files

    If you haven't tried stopping and restarting Windows because this problem occurred, I would suggest trying it. Some users have reported a problem after the updates of Windows where they see only partial information in Firefox, perhaps because of a problem of privileges.

    After that, if the problem persists, I'll ask you to verify a parallel settings folder. You can open the settings file (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

    In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

    Make a note of the name of the current folder in the Windows Explorer address bar, and then click the 'profiles' word that appears before him to navigate a level and see if you find other profile folders here. If you check the inside, a folder bookmarkbackups in other profiles appear to be current?

    IMPORTANT: Do not use Windows System Restore feature — which can cause loss permanent data.

    Both. An AUTOMATIC backup is made up both the controlfile the spfile. It's a backuppiece containing two backups (controlfile and spfile).

  • iPhone 6 s - 100% carbon copy backup/restore to iTunes - is that possible?

    Hello

    I am trying to find a way to save/restore an iPhone via iTunes installation so that the restoration of places any return on the phone with the same configuration (essentially, an exact clone of the original installation that is being backed up).

    Questions that I met with attempts to use iTunes for backup/restore:

    • Passwords and other security information do not restore.
    • Applications not getting restored
    • WIFI networks not get restored
    • attached randomly do not restore (some, not all).

    iCloud backups solve this problem (sort of).

    • It takes an internet connection takes too long and medium, and you are left without a phone can be used for a period of time, so that the restore process is complete. I'd rather do it via iTunes.
    • Passwords and other security information do not restore.

    Any help please? In the end, I'm looking for a way to backup my phone to a PC and restore it so it looks identical to how it did before the backup.

    For a long time (perhaps in the iPhone 4/5 days?) this process described above works, 100%. Apple changed something in recent years.

    Thank you

    Bob

    The backup does not contain music or apps, because they should be in the media library iTunes on your computer, and if you synchronize right after that the restoration of the backup is then reinstalled. Normally this is done automatically when you perform a restore if you not to interrupt.

    Passwords and health data are only saved if you choose encrypted backup.

    There is no way to make a backup "image" of the phone, but if you use Encrypted and let run until the end, that it will restore everything the way it was.

  • automatic backup

    Is there an automatic backup feature in Firefox? If so, keep - you there different versions?

    I had to restore my PC. Once I did, I logged on my account of Firefox assuming it would sync my previous Favorites and passwords, but synchronize empty profile instead.

    Fortunately, I still had most of the things in Chrome, but unless there is an automatic backup feature, I don't want to be in this situation again.

    Kindly let me know if such a thing exists.

    First, if you haven't already done so, you can disable the cache of the hidden files and folders. This article has the steps for Windows 7, which I think are similar on the 8.1 Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

    Then, you can down

    Your username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles C:\Windows.old\Users\

    Here you can find a profile semi-randomly-named file, or you might find more than one. Most likely, the most recently updated the folder is the folder of the previous settings.

    You could move some key files selectively into your folder of currently living settings, or restore the entire record of the old settings.

    For selective restore, see this article: recovery of data from an old profile.

    For the steps to restore full, please see this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1024189

  • My iPad is no longer the automatic backups in icloud. When I try to do it manually it gives me an error message

    Automatic backup on icloud no longer works. When I try to run it manually it gives me an error message

    Please check that your device is correctly connected to the wireless internet (settings > wifi) and is plugged into a power source, check also that you have enough space in iCloud for your back upward.

    You can check the space available in settings > iCloud > storage and the space needed for the next backup to the settings > iCloud > storage > managing storage > backups > appliance > Back Up Options > next backup size (wait for the spinning until the gear icon).

    Assuming that you are eligible for iCloud upward, you should try a forced first stop, hold down the buttons side in top and home together until the unit stops, then restart by pressing the side/up button.

    Then, try to connect the device to a new location (different WiFi network)

    If your backup continues to fail, you can try to disable the backup on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > BackUp), reboot the device and then turn on BackUp on new.

    If it does not help disable backup again, remove your existing back to the top of the settings > iCloud > storage > managing storage > backup > appliance (scroll down) > delete backup, restart the device and then turn on BackUp.

    If you are unable to make a return to the top, try to connect on iCloud (settings > iCloud (scroll down) > Sign Out (you will need to enter your password at this point), restart the device and sign in iCloud to settings > iCloud.)

    The next thing to try would be to restore your network settings. (Settings > General > reset > reset network settings)

    Reset your network settings will erase your cell phones and wireless network settings, including saved networks, passwords for wifi and VPN settings, that you can use. It will affect to the Internet but will not be an impact on telephone services because these settings are automatically configured by your carrier. It may take a few moments to enter again all your network settings, but it shouldn't cause you any major problems. If you are comfortable re - enter your network settings, you can try this step earlier in the troubleshooting procedure, i.e. after the forced shutdown suggested above.

    If this does not help, try to disable some elements for the back upward in a model to try to establish if your problem is caused by specific data on your device. You can do it with settings > iCloud > storage > managing storage > backup > this device > Back Up Options.

    If you are still not able to perform a backup from iCloud, you can try to restore your phone which you should do by making an iTunes backup via your computer and restore from that.

    Be able to go back to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you have access to a computer or rarely have access to one, however unless you need specifically to use iCloud to go back, you'll find a backup on iTunes much more convenient and possibly more reliable. However if you save up to iTunes be sure to encrypt the back upward if you want to keep your data on health and passwords etc.

    Hello

    The ASR (automated system recovery) tool must have a disk for restoration purposes. The best option, if you really want to use ASR, is a floppy of USB external as suggested by chrisamiller.

    You can also follow this procedure to create the ASR files without the floppy drive and then copy them to another location to create a floppy disk or, if you're lucky, your PC can boot from a USB key (I never tried to start ASR on a key, do not know if it will work or not, but it might be worth it) :

    "You can"trick"the ASR in the race without a floppy drive." When it gets to the point where he writes on the diskette to cancel it. He writes two files, which are used for recovery, in the Windows\Repair directory. After completing your ASR copy these two files (files asr.sif and asrpnp.sif) to a network location and then make the diskette also. Make sure you update your disk whenever you make a new ASR or your backup will be watered.

    Or, you can use a USB floppy drive. It is sometimes the only option, especially if you need to install SCSI or SATA drivers during the recovery. »

    a: when you start the backup, it may be in Wizard mode. Follow the link to the Advanced Mode.
    b. Backup tab.
    c. click on the box next to the drive you want to back up so that it has a blue box.
    d. backup media or file name: Browse.
    e. Select a new file name on your CD.
    f. start the backup.

  • Not getting not automatically created restore points

    Original title - help with Restore Points

    I recently changed the size of my drives C and D using a utility partition.

    He stopped the automatic creation of Restore Points. I noticed this because the restore disk cleanup deleting data/shadow copies running did not clearly get out any space on my hard drive. I run Disk Cleanup about every 10 days.
    I tried to re - turn on this; but I'm not able to do. Here's what I did:
    Under Task Scheduler, I have a set trigger in place to create a point of restoring daily at 14:00. My computer is sometimes off in the morning.
    The State of this trigger is activated. This is used to create regular restore points.
    I disabled the trigger to create a restore at startup a point a couple of years. My system has been the creation of restore points every day with the other Tirgger at 14:00 in Task Scheduler.
    Question No. 1: Would it be useful to delete and recreate the trigger for 14:00?
    Question 2: I went into control panel – system and Maintenance – System – the System Protection window and I am able to manually create a restore point.
    I can see my drives C and D on the list. Maybe I think too much about things and read things correctly; but I feel like it's better to ask this question:
    * Should I put a check mark next to my D drive or my C drive?
    I ask this question because the title says in this little window of the System Protection: "create restore automatically on some points:
    So, does that mean that only check box for drive C indicates a place where the restore point will be created physically ("on drive C"), or it means to a restore point to data on the C drive will be created? Is this clear?
    Right now I checked C drive and D drive and not on the list. I'm assuming he's asking me which drive I want backed up.
    (I don't know where the backup restore points are saved/located to go look for them.)
    I see that the last restore point was when I did it manually. The task scheduled for 14:00 does not appear on the list in this little window. However, when I check the history of Task Scheduler, it shows that the task has been completed.
    Question 3: Is something wrong with this list? I also check to see if the restore point is created at 14:00 from the task history shows that this has been done?
    I would appreciate help with this. I put a reminder on my calendar to create restore points manually. But something does not work with my system; and I want to fix it.

    Restore points are made. Yesterday, after posting the original message/questions, I changed the schedule of the trigger to make a restore point. Maybe something jogging in the system in place. (Not exactly a technical term, I know.)

    Today, I checked the disk cleanup and had much less free space of a few days. I ran clean it point restoration/cliché and cleared space. Then I checked the control panel – system and Maintenance – System – the System Protection window and saw that the restore point the most recent was created today.
    Then...
    Question 1: Maybe change the relaxation time makes a difference.
    Question 2: Place a check mark next to the C drive, which is the drive that you want supported during the restoration.
    Question 3: Everything is fine with this list.
