Splitting of the artists

My artists seem to be split in iTunes 12. I've never had this problem before the current version (although I had other problems with split albums, and fixed those ensuring all tracks are disabled for the compilation). Background: I have my updated files to consolidate in a field (default iTunes folder)

The problem arises that there is more than one entry for an artist (sometimes divided by song, sometimes divided by album). I tried delete metadata from the artist for each song/album and then all selected and changed them all to a single name. Does not work. Then I tried to add the same name of the album artist, and that does not work either. Then I erased the artist data and data artist album on the left. Does not work. I checked the sort tab to ensure that the files are not sort differently. It's frustrating because for an artist, I'm having several entries, some have a few albums, then the other entrance (same artist, same spelling) will be one or two other albums. I don't know what else I can try.

Also, this only seems to be a problem on my library on my computer. When adding to my phone, artists (and their albums) split.

Help, please?

All the usual suggestions. Check the settings as an artist album, kind of tags.

I imported the 4 songs from the same artist/album in iTunes. They are listed under recently added under a single album called something like Unknown Album. I selected all the 4 songs and clicked on to read information. I changed the artist and the artist of the album in his own name. I changed the album under his own name. I selected the right kind and added to the year. I filled that there are 4 tracks of the album, filled in that it was the CD 1 of 1 and has not checked all the boxes. I added album work and clicked OK.

Recently added, all the 4 songs now show with the right information. I then went in and read the information on each piece individually and entered the appropriate track number and click OK.

The album shows as expected under recently added, Albums and Genres. However, when I look at the album under artists, the artist is here 4 times, all showing the same album, with 1 song under each heading. When I look at the first entry, it shows 1 song that bears the number "1". The second album shows 1 entry that has the number '2' and so on.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  • Songs on iTunes are grouped by everything except the artists?

I only came to this problem recently, but I've had no luck trying to fix it. I have triple-everything checked, made sure the album artists are composers is the exact same without hidden spaces or misspellings, I deleted tracks and re-uploaded, but this has always been a problem. I've even updated iTunes and it is STILL not change.

The songs I recently filled in metadata for are combined perfectly with the albums, but the second I switch to the menu artists, I see 50 Dethkloks each with only 1 song on them.

Below are the screenshots on the album (grouped perfectly) and artist (no grouping).

  • Download 12.5.1.21 and lots of photos of work in the tabs of the ARTIST do not show the artist, only a graphic of a microphone. I had before the artist with their photos, and now I can't. How can we get them. ?

Before when I have to click on the 'artists', all my artist art 12.5.1 on the sidebar appears. Now most of the artists album covers appear only a chart from a microphone in light pink, blue and clear.  However, when I click on 'albums', all album covers are not displayed correctly.  Review of my library, all the artwork for each song, and the album is installed correctly.   How to get the picture of the work on the 'artists' on the sidebar tab?  How can I do to reinstall the work of artists.  Help!

Yours is probably the clearest explanation of the issue of iTunes with the "artists". Could you put a picture of the "artist's impression" so that we can see the problem?

(I guess that other "views" - recently added, Albums, songs and Genres - work very well.

    Thank you!

  • The songs in its library of music must be listed in alphabetical order by song, not by the artist.

I recently downloaded 10 IOS.  When I go to my music library, so I could go to playlists, artists, albums, or songs.  Given that my artists are listed in alphabetical order, is it not superfluous to enumerate my songs in alphabetical order of the artist?  I prefer my songs alphabetically by song title as it used to be.

    Hey fosterdogmom,

I understand that you do not want to see your songs in alphabetical order by title to the music as opposed to them being sorted by artist app. I can help you with that.

To change this, go in settings > music and look for a setting called sorting songs and Albums and choose to sort by title. Take a look at the following link for more details on this.

  • Sort my songs a to z, since the 10 update it does by the artist?

Since the update when I go into my songs, it changed title of the song from a to z to the artist from a to z. I do not know if someone has it but o does not know how to change this back?

and yes I returned to the page from the main menu thingy and selected sort by song, not by the artist (who is an artist from a to z).

    Thank you

    Hi NAL_asking,

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!  It seems that your settings are correct, but I'd suggest to force out the music application, restart your iPhone and try again.

Force a nearby application on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    Choose how to sort songs
Tap Settings > music > sort the songs and Albums > by title

Then touch the music, tap library app, tap songs - and you should see all your music alphabetically by song title.

Take a look at the section music to iPhone user Guide for iOS 10 update.
(Click on the Table of contents, and then click Apps).

    Take care.

  • The artist is missing in iTunes 12.5

    Hey everybody,

First off I use iTunes 12.5.1 and iOS 10.0.1 on my iPhone and Macbook Air SE respectively.

In earlier versions of iOS and iTunes, iTunes automatically added the artist to my music collection. No, no cover. Work of the artist.

Above you can see the travelling artist has an empty work, while Pete Murray has the artist's work

The two artists have all their albums with the correct names and correct work, but the only difference between the two is that I bought one of the albums of Pete Murray. So why passenger disappeared? How can I add it back?

    Thank you for your help,

    Grant

Hello, apparently it has something to do with the songs "purchased." Apple have decided that if you ripped an album, or downloaded from a different location, you get a pink microphone.

  • I added a few. WAV files and you want to add the artist names and album

I added a few. Recording WAV files form a USB turntable.  How can I add the name of the artist and album in iTunes before you convert them into MP3 files to load on a player MP #?

For all types of files you can call by clicking on the location of the name / artist, when it is selected. It should be more when you convert the.

  • Duplicate the artist that don't WILL NOT disappear please help!

Everything is identical on both sides, news-wise, I went through all the fields all fields sort everything.

I even tried to change the name of the artist to something different, then change back, nothing has changed.

The only difference that I could find is now in the general tab to get information from the artists themselves:

The left is as "should be", because all the other artists who do not have duplicates have this info.

While the right, which I think is 'the double', has in this field which does not reflect the artist.

But I continue to change, and it goes back to joint... by himself! What on earth I'm doing wrong?

What is the problem? How do I actually CHANGE? Thank you!

    Hello applewarm,

I see in your post that you have an artist showing twice in iTunes, and you want to have all of this artist put together. I like to keep things neat and organized myself, so I can understand why you want to get this sorted out.

As a first step, try to edit the field artist album "Hardcore Superstar" for both groups and see if it unifies the artist. If this isn't the case, I recommend to check this article to see if there are measures that you have not tried here:

  • iTunes Music is stuck on the artist's view

  • How we call the artist names duplicate downloading iTunes music

I intend to load the next album by the pop group The Dutch Amsterdam based on iTunes via CD Baby. However, when you search for the Dutch on iTunes, you will find several artists who are appointed the Dutch, which my group: https://itunes.apple.com/nl/artist/the-dutch/id72807469?l=en

My only Dutch group has been around since 1983, up to now, Sony has released two albums of the 1980s in iTunes (that well-being is and under the Surface). I think he deserve our own corner on iTunes and Spotify, etc.. And not to be mixed with an American guy who uses our name and free dance stuff.

So my question is, how can we get Apple differentiate between two or more artists with the same name, which is the Dutch?

We are only users like you and don't know the inner workings of the iTunes Store.  If it is like iTunes and simply seeks these words in the artist field so there is no way to distinguish the two artists, unless one of them changes. Even in this case it would probably not be retroactive for items already released.

  • Sort order for the Album to the artist / year

How does Itunes sorting Option "Album of the artist / year"work? "

I expect year wise Albums are sorted. But some of the Albums are not sorted in the year.

If two or more albums were released in the same year by the same artist, they are sorted in alphabetical order. Note also that iTunes can produce unexpected results if you select a descending sort order.

  • No color for the artist

Hi, don't know if this has been deleted in 12.4.1 but now I don't see the custom colors (backgrounds) for artists. Oddly enough, it does show that on a single Strip and that the band loaded the image of the artist who is caught from iTunes.  This works perfectly well with the poster of the Album. I already tried to delete my library and create a new library and made sure, that he was in the preferences.

Notice of artists, custom colors appear with the title at the top, not as a background.

  • How to search for the artist in the iTunes Store app

I am only looking for artists and never for anything else. Never for a specific song, never for no music. seems that the artist is the most obvious way searching for music. I'm I missed something?

    Where is "search by artist"?

Just type the name of the artist. Yes, you'll see a number of results - some of which may be other than the music media. I don't know what you expect. 'Artist' without things like Albums, songs, videos produce almost a meaningless result.

  • iTunes 12.4 missing "Sort by artist."  Only sorts by the artist of the album.

I spent hours to be arranged by library to be able to change the field name, rather than name, artist name.  (If I want to find Buddy Holly, I look under B, not H).  Then, I could choose to sort by artist.  (And BTW, stop the Match completely, because just renames all of what he wants.)

Today, I downloaded itunes 12.4 and it immediately destroys all my work.  I'm happy to be proven wrong here, but we have lost the ability to choose how to sort.  ITunes is the culprit to sorting by artist Album when you access a list of artist.  Is no longer, we can deal with the field of the artist.  Why must iTunes make it so difficult?

Can someone tell me if I'm missing something?  Thank you.

Since the introduction of the Album artist field (iTunes 7) sort by artist has been controlled by the first non-empty value of: Type Album artist , Album artist, Genre artist, artist.

In general I expect to see Buddy Holly in the artist and fields artist album and the sort fields empty. It usually takes an extra effort to fill in the fields to sort with a scheme such as < name >, < name > as typical iTunes and Gracenotes deliver information such as < name > < name >.
