Spoolsv.exe question-, nothing seems to fix it.

I get error spoolssv.exe so prevalent here. So far, nothing suggested by someone I've seen corrects this problem.

I deleted everything in the \printers\ directory (even if there anything here); fact the variuos regedit suggestions; Spoolsv.exe copied my Windows CD and still no luck.

I am without ability to print until I can suggest a fix.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply, Chris. It seems I've found the problem. A utility to capture and print screen was hung up my print spooler. It would be nice to be able to use this software, but I have sacrificed my ability to print. I don't know why this software worked before, but now won't.

The error I received was "Spoolsv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" and the "Spoolsv.exe consulted memory to XXXXXXXX and couldn't read/write, etc, etc, etc.

  • network activity excessive spoolsv.exe

I noticed on a user so far that there is a TON of data through the VPN to our print server (approximately 1 MB of his connection uses). Total 3Gbs this morning. I went to our print server, open monitor resource and found that the spoolsv.exe is the process that uses the data. His laptop is not the only one to do that.  There is also what is happening for internal users. There nothing to print, and other users have nothing in the queue or print either. You can tell when a user who is working properly, prints. Data spikes until the print job is finished sending. Users who have this problem constantly send data, send or receive.

has anyone else encountered this problem? I have looked everywhere on the internet and found some users who have had the problem, but nothing to fix. I can stop the spooler service, but once it is started again the data starts to flow. I did this on the clients and the server. I also made sure to check / clears the queue on the server and the clients.

    Hello

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

I see that there is a large amount of data transferred while printing to a printer connected to a virtual private network.

As the question is more suited in the TechNet forum, I would say that you mention the link and send the request in this forum for better support.

  • How to download file print spooler "spoolsv.exe" for Acer Aspire One with windows XP

My "spoolsv.exe" file will not work.

    I see...

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

I suggest you first take a look what the Print Spooler Service thinking it depends now questioning the Print Spooler Service by entering this command in the command prompt window:

    sc qc spooler

What do you see under DEPENDENCIES?

Do you see the rpcss Service and some unnecessary Lexmark Service?

To configure the Print Spooler Service to depend of the rpcss Service (rpcss remote procedure call (RPC) Service =) enter the following command (including the important space after the "equal" sign):

(Don't forget the space after the "equal" sign)

the sc config spooler depend = rpcss

Query the Service from the command prompt to see what it looks like now by entering:

    sc qc spooler

The query would look like this with only the rpcss listed in the field of ADDICTIONS:

    [SC] GetServiceConfig SUCCESS

    Service_Name: Spooler
    TYPE: 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
    STARTUP TYPE: 2 AUTO_START
    ERROR_CONTROL: 1 NORMAL
    BINARY_PATH_NAME: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
    LOAD_ORDER_GROUP: SpoolerGroup
    TAG                : 0
    Display_name: Print spooler
    DEPENDENCIES: rpcss
    SERVICE_START_NAME: LocalSystem

Type "exit" to close the command prompt window.

This seems pretty normal to me, so reboot and see how your Print Spooler Service behaves now.

  • Spoolsv.exe has 99% of the cpu when I turned off the printer after printing.

    Original title: spoolsv.

I recently installed a new printer Lexmark Pro715.  Everything works fine, no problems with printing, but as soon as I put off the printer after printing, spoolsv.exe takes 99% CPU.  If I leave the printer in mode 'sleep', the problem is, but I do not often print, I prefer to turn off completely.  There is nothing in the print queue, everything else seems normal.  I can use the Task Manager to stop it, but this isn't a good solution in the long term.  I run MS Update and uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, with no effect.  It's driving me crazy.  I have Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

From what I've read on the Internet about the print spooler using 99 to 100%, Norton is also sometimes involved as a contributing factor to a runaway print spooler for some people (where my request).

IIRC, people would set their Norton to start a scan and when it was made, the print spooler has run amok at 100%:

"Because I have Norton Antivirus, do a system scan every Friday night that I happened to see that the value SPOOLSV. EXE is using almost 100% of the CPU of the morning Saturday. It's the only time that it happens, so I simply stop the process in the SERVICES window, and life is good. I don't know why Norton Antivirus it triggers during the scanning process that I couldn't find anything on the Symantec relating to this site. »

If the problem resurfaces surface, using abduction special tools on their website, you can uninstall your Norton and view the appearance of things without him - you can always reinstall again once, right?

I disagree with Norton in general for its CPU and memory hogging and known interference with other XP processes (such as the restoration of the system), so I'd keep which in mind if the problem returns.

A few years ago, I used to like Norton correct, but will never go back or recommend it.  Microsoft Security Essentials with it's lower overhead and footprint and some regular on the analyses at the request of the MBAM and SAS should hold your own system based on your surfing habits.  Your system will reward you with an improvement in the overall performance of the system as well.

I can tell you that no single AV tool seems to know everyting so it is safe to use several respectable scanning tools.  Norton certainly doesn't know everything.

  • XP Home-ed: Spoolsv.exe; Scanost.exe and Scanpst.exe damaged files-(outlook 07). Restore the functionality does not.

I have XP Home-ed with service pkg 3: I had a number of problems occur simultaneously in Sept. 2011. Outlook 07 will begin to open, then plant, and when I tried to print I get a Script error msg. I sort the MS Fix - it service and tried to reload the printer driver and reinstall Outlook, but nothing has worked.

Checking, I found Spoolsv.exe service was turned off, turned on then, but then error SCRIPT and spooler turns off when you try to print. Further investigation found Scanpst.exe damaged and files-Scanost.exe (outlook 07). MS Restore feature has stopped working.

Automatic update of virus or suspect MS. I have Norton 360.

    Hello

    • This only occurs when printing from Outlook?
    • You are able to print using all other Windows applications as Internet explore?
    • What were the changes made before the issue occur?
    • How long have you been faced with this problem?
    • Who solve that you ran?
    You can check this link:

    See the following steps:
Go into "start |" Run ', copy the following line and paste it into the line run

    regsvr32 ole32.dll

Note: There is a space between "regsvr32" and "ole32.dll") and click OK.  See if that fixes the problem.

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you post your request in Outlook forums for better resolution.

Yes, but you will lose the benefit of the queue.

Then the print subsystem stops.  Windows update service keeps control and verification.  I let go 20 hours and it is never resolved.  I can't open some applications requiring printers.  Help please.

    Bill

    Hello DragonBill,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

Regarding your question, the most common cause of the error is an abundance of. SHD and. Files in the directory of spool SPL.  These files are created by the spooler to save data delayed a print job.  The. SPL file contains the drawing commands and the. SHD file contains information of working parameters the print job.

To try to correct the application spoolsv.exe error, you must remove these files from the system.  To do this, perform the following steps on your Windows Vista computer:

    1. open the Control Panel, select Classic view, select Administrative Tools and then select Services .

    2. in the Services management console, find the Spooler service, right-click on it and select stop.

    3. then open the folder C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers .  (Here, we assume that your Windows is installed in the default C:\Windows folder)

    4. delete all the . SHD and SPL files in this folder.

    5. then open the TMP folder and delete all the old, unused files in this folder.

    6. Finally, restart the spooler from the Services management console service.

Important note: If you are unable to delete the files in Normal Mode, then you may have to restart your computer in Mode safe to delete files.  To start your PC in safe mode, press F8 when the system restarts, and then select the Mode option safe mode from the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

If deleting the files do not straighten out the problem, you must perform a system restore and restore your system to the times before when the error started appearing on your computer.  A.m. run the restoration of the system, open Start, all programs, Accessories, System Tools , and then select the System restore option.  On the Welcome to system restore screen, select the restore my computer to a time option earlier and select Next.  In the Select Restore Point screen, select the date that represents the restore point to which you want to restore your computer back, and then select Next.  Finally, check and then click Next again to confirm your restore point and restore of the system.  Restart your computer when you are prompted, and then press OK to close the end of System Restore screen.

It is important that you know that application errors can also occur because of virus or spyware infections.  In fact, the Spoolsv.exe process is also a known backdoor vulnerability which can be planted on your computer for malicious purposes by an attacker.  Therefore, if you see an unknown process running on your system, you must take appropriate measures to remove them.

Let us know if these steps solve your problem.  I hope the information is useful.

    Kind regards
