  I just recently installed Hyperic today and I love it already.  I took a few minutes to look around, but I could not find information on the control of an application so I thought I would try here.
  
  My business relies on mission critical web application that is running on an instance of java.exe in the Task Manager.  We had a recent problem with the dying process (who made our mission critical app unavailable until someone called to complain) and my CTO was all ready to pay more than $4,600 for a monitoring solution that would check to make sure java.exe still worked.  Is it possible to get Hyperic to monitor current processes for a specific entry and alert you when it does not find?

  A monitoring procedure can be done by using the service of process.  You can create a process service by selecting "New Service platform" in the Tools menu on the upper right corner of the page while you watch the page of the platform at HQ.  From there, select "Process" for the new type of service.
