SSD and SSD PCIE

Please I need to know what is the PCIE SSD and why his petter as SSD?

It's a metaphor. The SATA bus isn't as high bandwidth data i.e. because he can't use that whole part of the data bus in the processor.

This is one of those that makes me wonder if it of a real question or are you just messing with us? Prove you're not and ask about a real problem of the computer.

  • Z620: need help with the difference ("boot") of ssd pci-e cards and pci-e (BIOS) nand

    Hello

I intend to buy a card pci-express ssd for access/faster transfer, and I read the topics concerning the problem of booting from that ssd, but still did not understand much to be honest.

what I noticed, is that HP620 should work with older (like turbodrive Z), but not the based NAND, new Z turbodrive G2,.

or only with a few tricks.

    now to my question.

Some people say, this new nand ssd pci - e cards require a boot uefi bios and a few options, I do not understand.

as I have a regular bios (not), is it true that you cannot boot from these new ssd expansion slot, or are there tricks like the passage to the AHCI and a few other options in the bios?

If this is not possible, I'd be limited to regular use SATA ssd, limited to 500 MB/s of bandwidth, right?

    Thanks for any help

    Found this info on the web;

"There are actually two versions of the player. The original version uses the familiar AHCI Protocol, while a new variant is the NVM Express standard. The model of the AHCI is compatible with a wide range of motherboards and available among a wider selection of suppliers. »

The version of NVMe is also supposed to be faster, but in reality, it is not much of a difference.

I think that you need a motherboard with a socket m2 is to see a real difference in speed compared to the old version of AHCI.

I understand that it is only the most recent Zx40 HP series range that supports readers NVMe but not sure 100%. It would certainly be a challenge trying to get one to work in a series of Zx20 HZ.

  • P50 and SSD PCIe-NVMe

Does anyone know what brand/model/version of the solid state drive comes with a ThinkPad P50 configured with a 512 GB SSD PCIe - NVMe?

I called the center of support here in the United Kingdom, but they couldn't help.

I saw a lot of people tend to buy a HD at low prices and then swap with a Samsung 950 PRO NVMe m2.

Could this SSD (950 PRO) be set as main (and only) disc?

    Thank you.

You will need for the SSD tray to be ordered separately.

  • The p300 supports booting from an SSD PCIE NVMe adapter?

    Hello

I think I have a samsung 950 pro with an ssd PCIe adapter to start windows 10 on a thinkstation P300 (Machine type 30AG, e3-1281 processor v3 with latest bios-22/06/2016 FBKTC6AUS).

    Will this work?

THIS MARKET! (Sorry for the caps, but I'm so excited.)

I have installed the 950 pro in a pcie adapter, put it in the P300, installed the driver Samsung NVMe, initialized and formatted the disc (in the GPT, which is the same as my previous drive C) and then downloaded samsung data migration. I migrated my previous drive C to the new 950 pro, then shutting down my computer. I've detached from the old C drive, rebooted and went into the bios (F1) and I put the pro 950 (under 'other devices') # 1 start order.*

It starts in windows 10 beautifully, as if she was made to do so; no hiccups, it simply works.

Although NVMe readers are not officially supported on the P300, Samsung somehow got to work. I strongly suspect that it has to do with the pro Samsung 950 ROM option, which resides in the SSD and not on the computer, which allows you to start.

    * Make sure you just under "other devices" the 950 pro is the only drive listed. I have a data esata drive connected to my computer and the 950 pro as well as my data disk appears under the heading "other devices." at the start, my computer complains that no operating system is found. However, if I turn off my esata drive before starting, the p300 boots perfectly. I just turn on my esata after that I'm on windows.

  • SSD PCIe m2 for Alienware Alpha R2 configuration

I bought an R2 with configuration with M2 PCIe SSD 256Go. However when I check the info in app Support of Dell, the SSD is connected to SATA PCIe not. And the speed of the signal's SATA 6 GB.

I suspect that this SSD is a SATA SSD of M2. Not a PCIe, I chose.

I saw online messages that other R2 is bundled with Toshiba nvme SSD (THNSN5512GPU7), but mine is Samsung model CM871a. CM871a is a model very bad performance.

Appreciate any help and clarification from Dell.

No it's not true. R1 has only a single PCIe slot that is Wifi but R2 has a more use of SSDS m2. Your used SATA interface SSD because SSD, you got is a SATA SSD m2. If you use a PCIe we (m key), it will run on the PCIe interface. It supports even the Protocol NVM express if you use SSDS as pm951 or 950 pro.

Contact Michelle and she may be able to arrange a replacement for you.

But to be honest on daily use is not much of a difference. And SSD PCIe runs very hot and causes the loud fan noise.

  • Satellite L10-155 and Mini-pci

    Hello

    I plan to buy a Satellite L10-155.
I know there is no mini-pci wireless network card installed, but my question is: is there an empty available mini-pci SLOT which could hold such a card?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ted

As much as I know this unit is not ready WLAN. That means there is no antenna and mini PCI card can not work at all. The only solution is the external device, as the card wifi PCMCIA or same WLAN USB stick.

  • Update Bios of SSD PCIE optimized

Hi, I would like to know if that optimized pcie x 4 NVMe SSD Bios Update will work on my VN7 - 791 G. It has listed for the VN7 - 792G as well as update the audio drivers Realtek that are not listed for mine (same Realtek audio though) so I see not why there is a conflict. Even with the Synaptics touchpad driver. I think maybe that the Acer update page is not up-to-date on my older Nitro.

I don't see how the Chipset Intel driver would not work (I think) because I am running Haswell not Skylake.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

It will not work to be short. The checkum will see that the BIOS is not designed for the G 791 and it will not install it.

Go where are you sure that 791G also has support of Nvme?

  • D20 from Lenovo and Revodrive3 PCI

    Hello

I installed an OCZ Revodrive3 on my D20

At the time of startup, I get an error message "Expansion ROM not initialized".

Then the machine starts, but the primary disk SATA, not the Revodrive.

If I go into the BIOS to disable the verification of ROM SATA, then the error message disappears, the machine starts on the Revodrive, but then all the RAS for visible and not usable in Windows 7 SATA drives.

If anyone has a solution, I would be very happy to know.

I have tried almost every possible configuration in BIOS with always the same result.

  • With the help of Lego sensors and motors through the LabVIEW and NI PCI card

I want to connect a card PCI NI Lego motors and sensors and drive motors and the data of sense using LabView. What card PCI can I use? Thanks for a great site and fantastic community online.

    Hi Tom,

Looks like a great app.  NXT with LabVIEW Migration will be a big intermediate step before joining more industrial and better sensors with a PCI, PXI, cDAQ or cRIO.  We have a lot of options when it comes to vision and control and acquisition of movement, and we have dedicated forums for all of these products as well.

  • Calibration and Simulation PCI-5112

    Hello

I work in a lab where they use the PCI-5112:

    http://www.NI.com/PDF/manuals/373495b.PDF

    I had a few questions.

First of all, I would like to simulate this device on my computer using NOR-DAQmx, so I can play with a program we have on another computer with the actual hardware. However, it is not in the list when I try! Is it possible to "import" the PCI-5112 so that I can simulate it? If not, is there a similar device which recommends to someone?

Also by reading the specifications for PCI-5112, I saw this:

Ranges of vertical calibrated; ± 25 mV to ± 25 V in steps of 10%

Just to be sure, this means:

    ±25mV, 27.5mV, 30.25mV, 33.275mV, etc...

    Or does this mean:

    ±25mV, 27.5mV, 30mV, 32.5mV... etc...

Therefore, if I select a voltage outside these values range, he finished not calibrated? Or he rounds up my entry to the beach close to calibrated?

I guess that the same answers to the question above also apply to the range of calibrated offset?

Finally, I have seen that the source internal must be calibrated to an external source, every year and the auto-calibration every 24 hours. I know that for some my lab is not the automatic calibration every 24 hours, and I guess that they never made it to an external source. With our experiences, however we are only concerned with the decay of an exponential signal measurement. Therefore, calibration would be a moot point?

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the multitude of questions!

    See you soon

If you do not have external calibration, the values that you get from the card will be not as accurate as the data sheet says they are.  This may affect the time and voltage values and time values will be less made, since the clock uses a quartz oscillator, which is very stable.  Since you are using to measure the speed of decomposition, you should probably be OK.  If you need really accurate timing, you can drive the 5112 from an external clock source that has been calibrated recently.
