SSD does not start

Hello:

I have
installed a new Samsung SSD 840 Pro and may not have to start at startup. I have
clone the drive with the Samsung Migration software with no problems. I changed
the Setup program to start first in the SSD, then the old HDD. It passes the SSD
and the boots of the old hard disk each time even if I've made all the changes that
I could see without success. The SSD seems to be recognized in the device
Manager and the software has been downloaded automatically after the first start. Ideas
and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Will,

I appreciate the time and effort you took to resolve the problem. It seems the windows image that you have on the SSD is corrupt.

It would be better if take a backup from the hard drive, restores SSD and then check again.

You can also manually install windows on a SSD to confirm its functionality.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact us.

Thanks and greetings

  • Intel X 25 - M Solid - State Drive (SSD) does not start on T60

    Hi all-

I finally made the plunge and acquired a X 25 - m Solid State drive (SSD) of Intel. I spent a large part of the trial yesterday so he could boot on my T60 with no luck. My first attempt was to clone the current drive in the X 25 - M, but I got a slider to underscore flashing in the upper left corner of a black screen just after the start screen of ThinkPad and before Windows even tried to load.

Like others here, I suspected there could be a problem with the cloning of a disc (although it worked well with other mechanical discs), so I cloned the SSD to the original drive, and the original drive worked fine. Which excluded the cloning process.

I then tried to boot from the SSD drive by plugging in a USB drive enclosure. Using this method, I had at least the Windows splash screen, but I got a blue screen after that. Yet, it is better that connect directly into the drive, it suggests that it is SATA or the original of the problem BIOS interface.

I then took the SSD and installed in a desktop machine and have a fresh XP installed on this PC. I'm finally at least to see how fast an Intel SSD's, and I was absolutely stunned. I have never had a "snappier" desktop computer I never realized how big of a hard drive bottleneck is even on a desktop machine. Wow! If I could get this improved performance on my T60, I would be very happy.

After getting the player running on the desktop, I jumped it in the T60 just to see if she would get at least at the starting Windows screen. No luck-just the cursor flashing again.

AHCI is disabled in the BIOS and the disc is displayed correctly in the BIOS. I installed the latest version of the BIOS (2.23).

Someone at - it any other ideas?

BTW, Lenovo people, I'm just down the street from your part of RTP, and I'd be happy to abandon if an engineer wants to try a BIOS fix or something like that. I guess that there may not have much SSD Intel floating around the office.

    Thank you

  • SSD external via USB does not start by default

    Hello Apple community.

I have a problem with my new external SSD. Given that the base model Mac Mini end of 2014 comes with a disk HARD 5400 RPM drive, I wanted to go to an SSD without having to tear the whole unit. I wanted to exhaust the option 'boot from USB' and I'm having a strange problem. I cloned my Mac to the new drive SSD and slapped in a box set of the speaker. I connected via USB and changed my 'startup disk' to use the external SSD drive. However, it does not start on this unit automatically. When I reboot and discovers the "boot manager" I see the USB being initialized automatically. After disconnection / re - plug the drive in, it appears as a boot option. Once it is initialized, everything works fine and I can boot into El Capitan without any problem using the SSD.

I am trying to find a way that I can get the Mac to initialize the SSD to the boot upward and choose default. I don't want to have to re - connect the drive whenever I want to start on the SSD drive... Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • C870-19(r) satellite does not start with the new SSD

    Hello

I will update the Toshiba Satellite C870 19(r) with a Pro 840 Samsung SSD, but it does not start.

    He said: not found system.

    Post edited by: joch333n

None found system means that there is no system installed on the SSD drive...

    What you trying to do?
You start from a disk in order to install the new system?

In this case, you should disable startup secure in the BIOS.
I also recommend moving from UEFI mode MSC!

Mid 2009, 2.13 with SSD. I started a Youtube video and the screen froze with lines of color stained and with a strong constant cry. Computer was locked up and I had to leave hard. Now, it does not start at the top. The screen stays black when I push the power button, but the computer will beep and the standby light flashes every 5 seconds. I have to hold the power button down a few seconds as a hard to stop it from. Ideas?

  • Portege Z30T-a does not start

Hello, can be here can someone help me.

After of unknown causes, perhaps after it was switchable to hot RAM or another, all of a sudden my laptop does not start Z30T-A. How to say, after the press, there is 1 or 2 second screen sound and black fan and autoreboot. After the reboot, I see bright screen with its strong constant cooler and no action in the future.

I try to start without battery, only with adapter ac - same situation... without ram or ssd - same situation... i ' l reconnect adapter wifi, keypad and all hardware components - same situation - no start.

After that, I'll give this notebook to my friend, who work in the center of laptop repair.
After a few tries, he said, which can be a problem with the bios (bios can be deleted all of one or another error, which cannot provide no boot), or perhaps by this problem with CPU.

I chose the update of the bios, because it's the cheapest option. My friend can desolder the bios chip and via special equipment download a new.

But we don't have bios for Z30T-A.
He said that all versions in part support on toshiba sites are inappropriate.

It's ok if you refresh or download it via capable of mobile work. I try to get e-mail support for toshiba BIOS, but they only have version bin and my friend say that he needs another, not bin... of course, we can buy motherboard on ebay (in our country, it's no support computers laptop toshiba) but it's expensive.

Also, my friend told me, he can download it via the bios from another laptop same special equipment, but we do not have it.
Maybe somebodey here can help me.

To be honest, I can't imagine how an EPROM of the BIOS could be deleted without performing such procedure previously.
That's why I put t think that this laptop is problem BIOS
Your friend could be the problem but anyway

However, you are looking for the BIOS?
All BIOS versions can be downloaded from the Toshiba U.S. page:

    Hi all, I'm new here!

I am (excuse me: has) with a stream 7

A few days ago, I tried to install Windows 10 TP renovation 8.1 with Bing. After a while of waiting, he managed, but unfortunately I have forgiven to in SSD Tablet hp drivers, thinking that they were not necessary. If the touchscreen, WiFi and all the other stuff has failed. After I've got collegated by OTG, a keyboard and a mouse, that I managed to use Windows 10.

Try to install the drivers, my fault, I opened a .exe from Realtek (perhaps for audio), Tablet asked to reboot and after that I can't access Windows anymore.

I tried to start Windows 8.1 from a USB key, but it does not start, the same even if I disable secure boot.

With disabled bitlocker Windows gives this error

In the start option, I set these settings

I put the USB in this way:

The stream does not consider the USB absolutely XD

If I turn on again the secure boot Windows gives this error (which 99% is caused by the .exe I installed):

Restart the flow some time with secure boot it goes in a menu (where touch screen works) where there are a lot of options to reset Windows, but none of them doesn't work. If I try to format in this menu it asks password for my account, but it does not accept the mine :/

If I try to open the collection (from volume button when it starts less) it gives this message:

    Thank you for your patience!

@fotogruia in my case, the indicated operating system was windows 10 and as I wrote it has worked well. Good luck!

My computer does not start.  Screen is dark, even if I hear a fan.  When I tried to start, it turns on and turns off after a few seconds.  I removed the battery and the power turns on but does not start.  I tried a hard reset, nothing helps.  I also eliminated a fo the two strips of RAM and tried to start with each of the two, but this doesn't work anymore.

I had installed a Samsung SSD a year ago and everything worked fine.  Last night, I reinstalled the rotation of the original hard disk supplied with the computer and the computer booted.  I reinstalled the SSD and everything worked like new.  In other words, until this morning.  same symptoms.

    How to diagnose and fix?

I forgot to mention that after I installed the original hard disk, the bios updated and the computer worked fine until this morning.

  • HP envy Phoenix: win 7 does not start with connected external hard drive

I have a desktop HP Envy Phoenix with i7 chip and an SSD for the OS.  If I connect via USB external drive of 3 TB WD for the backup of the system does not start while it is attached.  The pc seems to be trying to boot from the outside, can't find the OS and does not start.  It will start fine with small external drives connected.  It is the size of the disk? Is there a way to fix this?

    Hello

The WD drives seem to pose problems of my potential.  I have used other brands such as Seagate and Hitachi without running into problems with external USB drives causing the system to boot.  Maybe it's the USB adapter that I use which does not cause starting problems.

    @tpetras

I used the adapter HP USB 3, which uses drivers NEC or TI and has never had a problem starting via a USB external (non - WD) readers.

  • X 240 does not start after upgrading to the latest version of the bios

I bought windows 8.1 factory machine. Then I had the local store install 8.1 on larger ssd. I did just last update of the bios, and now the machine does not start. I'm sure it is bound uefi, but I'm not knowledgeable in this area. The start setting me back by the store was 'only legacy' and secure boot has been disabled.

It is resolved with a replacement of the cable on the SSD and the system board.

  • Clone of SSD could not start

I have an Acer Aspire 5742-6638 running on Core i5 - 480 M under Windows 7 64-bit.  I'm trying to clone my hard drive for an SSD.  Tried with the help of Paragon Drive Copy and EaseUS Todo Backup.  Both said cloned successfully, but the two could not be started.  I inserted the boot disk but still does not start.  I have no problems cloning a hard drive classic on the same computer laptop.  I also used the same software to clone a laptop Lenovo to an SSD.  He managed.  I don't know why this notebook allows you to clone a regular HD but not SSD.  Need help please.

It was a super fast response.  I confirm that the SSD is the first boot device, but I can't answer the first question.  How can I see "system partition is marked as active and updated updated?  And how can I change active and implemented to date?  Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 7 x 64 installation DVD does not start on a Dell XPS One 2710

I apologize in advance for the long post...

Just got a Dell XPS One 2710.  Lot has happened, but let me clarify the current number as briefly as possible: the machine does not start from the HARD internal disk or the Windows 7 Installer x 64 DVD.  He gets through loading files and then gray progress bar when its colorful animation it blue screens with error CACHE_MANAGER.

I ran the diagnostic, including tests extended memory tests, and they have not found any error in what either.

When I was troubleshooting this problem previously, in some sort the motherboard got bricks (I don't know what exactly I did to cause that), but Dell has since replaced.  The first motherboard had BIOS version A09.  It has installed A11.

I can't find any BIOS settings combination that will allow even the Installer Windows DVD to start with the Blue error screen CACHE_MANAGER.  I tried the UEFI boot modes and legacy, I tried RAID and AHCI.  I tried with and without loading legacy OPROMs.

What I ultimately do is set the start mode of RAID so that I can use the SSD mSATA as a cache ("Accelerate" in the Intel RST Panel).  But I can not even the installer to start on where I can load drivers RST (assuming it's even necessary).

Other posts have suggested problems with memory, but I took each of the two DIMMS one at a time and I always had the same problem.

Should I suspect the hard drive?  When we arrived at the machine, he seemed to be running Windows 8 very well - until we went on the way to the side dark and downgraded to Windows 7.  Then once we started to have errors on updates, things has quickly degenerated from there.  In addition, again, diagnoses don't find any problems.

Any suggestions on how to get at least this puppy to start?   .. .or what have we done wrong?

Thanks EJN.  It turns out that there is certainly a hardware problem on this machine.  It was a refurbished Dell making machine and apparently when they renovated the it, they missed the real problem.

The way I know that it is material, it's that we bought actually 2 of them at the same time.  When I started to suspect the material, I decided to try this process on the other.  He worked like a knife through hot butter.  But I will say that the combination of the BIOS set to boot legacy mode and still start the installation with the option to UEFI DVD in the start menu was not easy to understand at first.  But when I followed the correct steps, everything worked very well.

For those of you who might try this, here are a few things I learned along the way:

    1. According to EJN, take the time to get/burn a CD to install Windows 7 x 64 that already has SP1 on it.  If you go to preserve the UEFI partitions and the boot hard disk, you must have x 64.  x 86 (32-bit) does not support UEFI.

2 unzip the RAID drivers to the * root * your USB flash or floppy drive and have it in the machine when you start the installation DVD.  I could be wrong, but it seemed to me that the installer looked for them without having to explicitly say it loads the me.

    3. as said EJN, set your BIOS boot legacy mode but use F12 at startup to bring up the Windows Boot Manager and start the installation in UEFI boot mode DVD.  If you want to implement an SSD as cache for your hard disk, you will need to set the SATA controller in RAID mode.

    4. I had partitions UEFI and was able to leave them intact.  Here's a very brief explanation: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744301%28v=ws.10%29.aspx your results may vary.

5 take this one as a possible suggestion that is worth what you pay for it: when I got the USB with RAID drivers at the root before starting the installation DVD, I didn't need to load the drivers explicitly.  As I said, it seems that the installation program has been smart enough to find and load what it takes, but honestly, I don't know.  When I load them explicitly, I got errors saying that the installer could not install on the partition, I had chosen.  Makes me think that I could have loaded both times.  What worked for me was NOT explicitly their cargo.

    6. you MUST be at your PC when Setup has completed copy and unpack the installation files.  Don't forget that you have your BIOS set to start legacy mode.  So when he tries to restart to complete the installation, it will try to start using the table inherited from on your hard disk - who is not here because you did a UEFI installation with partitions for UEFI.  So when Setup restarts the first time, you might as well get into the BIOS here and choose the UEFI boot mode.  If you do not, you will need to grab it whenever it restarts using F12 and manually tell it to boot from your hard drive using the UEFI.

These steps, you should get installed and running.  But another thing I had to understand that when first, I installed and executed the dashboad Intel RST, there is no acceleration option even if my mSATA SSD was found healthy.  I found that if it is formatted and partitioned, you actually go into Disk Manager and delete the partition before the RST dashboard he sees as available for use as a cache.

I hope this helps others out of me.  It's a heck of a lot easier when the hardware is not bad!

  • HP DV7-7259nr does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

I have a problem with my HP DV7-7259nr laptop, WIN8 running: it does not start after tune recommended to update BIOS and drivers.

It downloaded all the drivers and started installing at one time, he asked for a reboot, click OK and the BIOS update has begun to load. The process ended successfully and after the reboot that my laptop wouldn't start; everything is black and the cooler is runing.

If you install the electro mechanical original hard drive in it starts?

If it has been delivered with a SSD?

The specifications indicate that an electromechanical drive was part of the specification.

This is where lies the UEFI environment. It is actually on the hard drive.

  • Laptop does not start > how to delete data

    Separated from this thread.

How can you get your data off when the laptop does not start again? "catch fire or explode"... in a suitcase on a train or plane? This sounds like a product ready for the market yet? More I explore this question of "overheating" in the line it worse it seems: my machine was like a hot plate not a laptop when it has been completely unfolded in a cool room: about right to mention briefly without getting hurt. (And my data is still inside of her, if it is not melted...)

Well, unlike a laptop where you can remove the hard drive, these tablets are pretty well fixed and specifically your case, (it will not explode or catch fire) is to locate the device next to an air conditioner or a blowing unit to blow fresh air into the vents.

At this point, press on and hold the volume button upwards and at the same time, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, then release it.

If you can get it to feed and at least screen troubleshooting, see if you can get the machine to run in safe mode.

If you can get to the desktop, you can down all your data by opening the file manager, click on 'This computer' and open the 'users' folder, go to your account name folder and copy all the files on a USB key.

It is the only way to get your data out of these tablets.  You can't have the SSD card to remove it to try to force the machine to run at least once.

Now, I think that your machine is still active, just overheating.  Get off in any case data.

A RESET and reinstall updates are the only thing you can do.  I have the i3 model myself and am on it now and no problems with it.  Some games will heat, but never to the point that everyone is a report.

If all fails, send the replacement machine.
