  I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit and then installed an upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate on a new desktop computer.

  All up and running.

  When I download and try to install Service Pack 1 - KB947821-v34 - x 64, I encounter this error

  I also have the same error message when I try to install XP Mode.

  WindowsXPMode-en-us (1) installs OK (installed first)

  I also downloaded the Microsoft troubleshoot and get this message

  "A problem is preventing the troubleshooting tool to start.

  Thank you!  I found the link in the forum just before your answer to my question and I downloaded the update.  I was so concerned if it would work, because of all the problems that I saw in the forum with 6.6.1.  However, the problems were mainly associated with WIN10 and or users using Mac with older software, so I took a leap of faith and installed 6.6.1.  Fortunately, the update has been successful for me, well until I get my X - T2 Monday and process raw files, I don't know if there are problems.

  It seems that the support of the people in India (I talked to three) cannot answer questions on stand-alone updates, then phone calls are a waste of time.  I'll use the forum next time I need assistance.

• Why am I forced to connect to CC, when I bought a stand-alone license for Lightroom 6?

  I just purchased Lightroom (updated 3/4/5) 6. When I started LR6 for the first time, he asked me to sign in the CC. I did, and then choose register the application with a license. I then disconnected the CC (which I have no interest in CC). When I started LR6 once again, I had to log in again in CC. I bought a stand-alone license so I shouldn't have to connect to CC. If Adobe is not able to solve this problem, I will have to return LR6 and just stick with LR5.

  It doesn't have anything to do with the license.  First try turning off (or maybe turn on, if it is not currently) graphics acceleration in the Prefs / Perf and see if the picture to develop.
