Standalone converter changes the letter of the system drive
I have a Windows 2003 server that I am trying to convert a server has a guest VM using vCenter Converter Standalone. The original drive letters for this server are where the F: drive is my system startup disk f: and g:. I go to throughout the process, the aim said drive F: and G: but when it's done it gives me an error found no operating system. I start the machine and choose the Windows Recovery mode and now see that the drive letters are replaced with c: and d: drives that is why it will not start. I tried to use diskpart to recovery mode, but it does not change these drive letters. How to change or stay to F: and G: when you use vcenter converter?
Thank you.

I use Vista Home Basic and a little more than a month I've had problems with the script! All the lines and symbols... I have restored until I can't do a day earlier that when this problem happened! Finally, I changed the standard windows fonts and I use somethings, but much is still in the symbols (dashes, lines, etc.). I went into my fonts folder in Control Panel and my folder is empty! When I go to change the system fonts and fixedsys... What do I do?
Hi Vickie,
If you see only the fonts system and no additional (specific program) installed fonts, then you can try the following steps and check.
Most likely, the fonts are installed on your computer are hidden. Did the same by following these steps.
Method 1:
a. open fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, and then clicking fonts.
b. now click organize , and then click on folder and search options.
c. click the display and check to select Show hidden files, folders and drives.
d. click apply and OK. Check if you see all the fonts.
(Make sure that show you the files hidden after the repair is done by selecting don't show hidden files, folders and drives.)
Method 2:
Try to perform the clean boot procedure and check if it helps.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7After the troubleshooting steps, please refer to clean the boot link to put the computer to normal startup mode.

IM now running Vista Home Premium 32. I would like to change the system for Vista Ultimate 64 so I can run more than 4 GB of memory. Now Ive some factory settings if something happened, I can run my HARD drive restore. My question is how to change the Vista 64 operating system, so I can keep the recovery on my hard drive partition? Mayby there is some kind of upgrade cd?
Thank you
Hello
32-bit to 64-bit is not an upgrade
It must be done with a clean installation using a full version ' / Ultimate 64 bit license
Contact the manufacturer of your computer for more information on getting 64-bit ultimate, which I doubt they will always
and microsoft sells more vista
they moved on windows 7
and you are supposed to make this partition recovery disks to reinstall vista
ask the manufacturer of the computer how to

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 OEM System Builder License on the new hard drive with the new processor.
It will not be a problem in this case, since you don't "move" installation, you are doing a new installation. The less it will take is activation of the phone, as you change the hard drive:
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

Original title: why do need me a new product key
My computer stopped working and a new hard drive has been implemented. Now my computer asks for a product key and my computer says that I am using a windows vista that is not authentic. My background goes black and won't keep any substance I put in place. Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!
You have reached the right forum for your question. This problem occurs because you changed the hard drive. When a change is made in the hard disk of the windows vista system will ask you to activate.
To activate Windows Vista by using the automated telephone system, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, and then click computer.
b. click System Properties on the toolbar and then click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation section.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
c. click Show me other ways to activate.
d. click on use the automated telephone and then follow the instructions. You can also navigate to the link below and try to follow the steps to reactivate the copy of Vista.

FTP command does not when the current folder is not on the system drive
I have the following problem when I activate FTP from the command prompt when the current folder is not on the system drive.
I have a similar problem when you use a client FTP (ftprush)... It is installed on the D:\ and activation with the startup in D:\ folder reports 10038 (invalid socket handle)... It works fine when the startup folder is c: drive
(MON C:\ est un petit SSD où j'ai mis les programmes opérationnels et les applications les plus utilisées)... my D: drive is a program for non-intensif progs disk)
I have check the environment variables but can't find anything wrong with them, and I never touched at these
Current folder is on my c drive windows :\---> works OK and I can open an FTP site
C:\Windows\System32>FTP
FTP > quit
I change the folder to the very second disc---> broken, the report "ftp:socket" and the existsd.
C:\Windows\System32>d:
D:\>FTP
FTP: socket
D:\ >
I managed to solve my problem by making a
command "netsh winsock reset."
This solves all my problems... including ftprush, filezila, starting the ASP.NET Server in Visual Studio (which also refused to)
implementation)

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!
Ideas:
- You have problems with programs
- Error messages - Windows cannot find C:\Windows\system32\rstui.exe «»
- Recent changes made to your computer: I accidentally change the main drive d LABEL: volume 1 label D: (C :) AND IT does not FIND C:\Windows\system32\rstui.exe. How can I find this path?
- What you have already tried to fix a volume control simple back - I tried things like this before as to cause major problems. I'll do it right the first time.

HP pavilion dv6-7029wm recovery kit lose after changing the hard drive
Hello
Recently, I changed the hard drive after the old one crashed, so I need the recovery kit, but the site it says shipps only in canada or the United States
as I left the States, how can I get them?
where can I download the recovery image and burn it to a DVD?
Hello
Another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.
Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).
An example of a COA label can be seen here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here. The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.
Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

Windows 8.1 refuses to encrypt the system drive
Reference Dell place 8 Pro Tablet running Windows 8.1 (not Pro). After much frustration with this unit, I decided to dry completely and do a fresh install of Windows. And indeed, all of my previous problems just disappeared. - But there is now a new: BitLocker refuses to (self-) encrypt the system drive, as it is supposed to do. Windows claims that the device encryption is temporarily suspended but will resume after the next startup. However, no matter how many times I reboot the device, encryption/protection remains in the suspended state. The venue Pro 8 has a secure TPM, or more precisely a fTPM (TPM firmware). I am somewhat familiar with the TPMs management and then I went through procedures to prepare the TPM (which was what the suggested corresponding event logs), but it did not help. As the version of the OS is ordinary Windows (and not Windows Pro), the BitLocker feature is very limited, but sufficient to reveal 'Key protectors' are missing. If I have Windows 8.1 handling of automatic encryption, white protective key test should have been filled as soon as Windows has managed to record a recovery on my outlook account key. That, however, seems will never happen. Maybe because Windows has seen the device before that soft install. But even remove the device from my account, and then add that this return has not changed things.
To answer my own question: KB2949621-v2
