Starter / start the media access

Hi people,

I need help!  I can't get my server to start the ISO ESXi.

"Reboot and select proper boot device . " or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key"

Brand-new environment UCS skewered and wired 2 weeks ago.  4 UCS C240 M4 S2 connected via VIC1227 to a pair of 6296 FIs.  Created policies, service profile model and the service profile.  Associated with a server in a service profile, etc...

Boot order is set through the startup strategy:

1: CD/DVD

2: SD card (Yes, FlexFlash has been activated)

Via the KVM Console I enable virtual support, mount the iso ESXi and let the system startup.  I get the above message.  I tried F6 and selecting all the options: vKVM mapped vDVD, CIMC-Mapped vDVD and KVM vmDisk-CD.  No luck.

This isn't my first rodeo with UCS, but it is with C-Series servers managed through UCS.  Please provide any help you can think!

Thank you, Tom,.

When you create your startup strategy, you use "add CD/DVD" or "Add Local CD/DVD?

w

Try to use the add CD/DVDs and see if the problem persists. You can also try the CD/DVD if you use the first option.

Have you tried to use any other ISO just to make sure that you use do not corrupted, etc.?

Wes

    Hello

For me, it looks like a malfunction of the HARD drive and so the BIOS can not find a bootable device and goes to the last possible bootable option which is LAN.

The exclamation mark in front of the HARD drive indicates that there is a problem with the HARD drive so I think you need to replace the HARD drive and you need to reinstall the system.

    Hello Jay,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

I have a few questions about your question:

    (a) not you get an error when you try to download?

    (b) where you are trying to download music and video files from?

    Method 1:

You can try the system to the boot and they try to download the files. Any program background may interfere with the download. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The steps to perform a clean boot are given below:

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

    1. click on Start, click run, type msconfigand click OK.

    2. the System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

    1. in the System Configuration utility dialog box, click the general tab, and then click Selective startup.

    2. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM. INI file check.

    3. Click to clear the process to WIN. INI file check.

    4. Click to clear the Load Startup items check box. Check The Load System Services and to use Original BOOT. INI are checked.

    5. click on the Services tab.

    6. Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box.

    7. click on disable alland then click OK.

    8. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer

Once you have set the system boot, you can try to download the files and check if you get the same problem or not.

For more information about the clean boot, follow the below given link:

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

When you have finished downloading, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on Startand then click run.

    2. type msconfigand click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

    3. click on the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.

    4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    Method 2:

Alternatively, you can try to reset the TCP/IP settings.

Note This section is intended for computer savvy users. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, ask for help or contact Support.

The reset command is available in the context of the NetShell utility IP. Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:

    1. to open a command prompt, click Start , and then click run. Copy and paste (or type) that follows the command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:

    cmd

    2. at the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you do not specify a path of the directory for the log file, use the following command:

    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    3. restart the computer.

First, you download the Fixit from the given link and run it, if that does not work then try to do it manually.
