Static MAC address starting not not by 00:50:56?

Hello

I have a quick question before I go to bed (so I have no time for some tests).

I just found this article on the static of MAC addresses: VMware KB: defining a MAC address of a NETWORK card virtual

The article says that "VMware uses a different YES to manually generated addresses: 00:50:56.»  But can I use the autogenerated, MAC address that starts with 00: 0c: 29 (and of course ensure that ESXi uses the same MAC address for an another VM)?

Thank you

Hello..

Both are actually automatically generated... 00: 00c: 29 is generated by the host ESXi itself when not associated with an instance of vCenter. 00:50:56 is generated by vCenter if the ESXi host is attached to the phone.

But can I use the autogenerated, MAC address that starts with 00: 0c: 29 (and of course ensure that ESXi uses the same MAC address for an another VM)?

Yes...

  • rejected mac addresses are not placed in vlan comments

    Hi all

I'm kind of new to the switches and learned a lot by reading the documentation sites. My job is to activate authentication aaa on our Cisco switches, we have a 3750stack, a few 3560 s and some 3550 s. I test on one of the 3560, a WS-C3560G-48PS 12.2 (53) SE1-IP-BASE running. Next week I'll update of firmware for 12.2 (55), but with this version, everything should already work.

Basically, the only thing I asked to do at the moment is Mac-Auth Bypass configuration. If the Mac address is accepted, RADIUS returns the VLAN, the device should be placed in, for the most part VLAN 4.

If the radius (freeradius v 2.1.10) server sends a rejection (see below), the port is not set to the vlan comments, because I expected.

    Hello

Just to the user the correct names, what you want is a vlan auth failure (that you configured correctly). VLAN comments is for PCs that do not have capacity dot1x (do not respond to dot1x packages) but for the avoidance of the mac, the event of "no-response" will never happen.

Now that we have explained, your config seems therefore quite ok actually. I'd go with debugs to check what the problem is.

  • Static IP address does not work

    Hi everyone, small problem.

I put a static IP address (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHQzHCQhHHgup, this is how I did it) and now my WiFi does not work. I tried most of the things at this point, and its getting on my nerves. When I go to my modem config (192.168.0.1) I see the device listed with the IP address has changed, but when I go to any Web site other then my modem config, internet will not work. It also shows that if I ha no WiFi in my task bar thing. I have a static IP address on my Tablet very well and want to do the same with my laptop win8.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello

1 have. what measures you taken to set the static IP address?

    2. don't you get any message/error code when you try to access the internet?

    3. What is the brand and model of the computer network adapter?

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing.

This problem may occur if you have correctly configured the static IP address.

Here are the steps to manually configure the IP address in Windows 8

    a. go to the search box, type ncpa.cpl , and click the icon that appears in the result.
    b. a network connection window opens. In the network connection window, right click on 'connect to the Local network' and select 'properties '.
    c. a Properties window opens. In this window, select "Internet Protocol version 4", and then click on "Properties".
    (d) another new window will be opened. In this window, click on 'use following IP address ". Your IP address, then click 'OK' to save the setting.
    e. in this step click on 'Close' in the Ethernet Properties window. All your network settings will be changed.
    f. now you can see your address IP changed. That open to a command invites as administrator and type ipconfig and press Enter.
    g. your network adapter settings have been changed.

If you are still having problems connecting to the internet, so I would ask you to reset TCP/IP and check if it works.

    Follow these steps:

one) starts at the desktop view.

    (b) open the command prompt, right-click in the corner when the start window appears, select command prompt (admin).

    (c) at the command prompt, copy and paste (or type) the following command and then press ENTER:
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note: If you do not specify a path of the directory for the log file, use the following command:
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

    (d) restart the computer.

  • E1200 cloning MAC address but not the PC

My ISP requires MAC authentication on the router for internet access. They provide the router and register for this router to their access list.

I'm not very happy with the router, that they provided, so I intend to buy an E1200 and clone the MAC address of my current router. But when I checked the router interface, of cloning mac page has a button saying 'Clone MAC from my PC'. And in the FAQ of E1200 page it says that the router can automatically capture the PC's MAC address. Which is not what I want to do.

I want to manually enter the MAC address of my older router in this router to be cloned. Is this possible?

Yes it is possible. Once you enable Clone Mac address of the router, click DO NOT Clone My PC Mac. Enter the mac address manually, then click on save settings. In this way the router will save the mac address you want to enter.

  • Get the iPad or Android device MAC address does not work (works in AIR Desktop)

I try to get the MAC address of the device to the user in Adobe AIR. This is the code that I use.

    public function getDeviceMac (): String {}

    Return NetworkInfo.networkInfo.findInterfaces () [0].hardwareAddress.toString ();

    }

That works well in the PC (or during the test in the PC with ADL Mobile).

but in the iPad 2, or in a device Android (Acer Iconia A500) I get an error

on the property There is not. I guess it is not implemented in mobile

versions of AIR. It would be nice if it was applied in future versions.

There is no work around for this?

I'm looking for just a way to uniquely identify a device, is there

a unique identifier that I can get the AIR by programming

(maybe the UDID?), if it is not possible to obtain the MAC?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

You will need to iterate through all available interfaces and find the hardwareAddress.

    NetworkInfo.networkInfo.findInterfaces () [1].hardwareAddress.toString ();

In addition, for Android, you will also need to specify the permissions ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and ACCESS_WIFI_STATE in the following application descriptor.

  • assignment range static mac addresses

Anyone know or knows where I can find what the mac address range is responsible for functions static mac end user for virtual machines?  There is a specific, cited in the 4.x documentation Beach, but the docs 5.x just say do not walk on the beaches of use reserved for vCenter Server, host network adapters physical, virtual cards, but says not what is Beach, reserved or allowed is, so I don't know what to avoid.  I opened a support ticket and asked the same question and I was told there is no specific void range defined for static assignment, and I have to look in my environment to see what was automatically generated for what could not be attributed.  Of course, this does not solve the potential problem of an address that I choose to be automatically generated by vcenter for a future new virtual machine.

Also, does anyone know what virtual machine operations can cause the mac to change address?  I'm trying to determine whether it is necessary to assign a static address to a virtual machine that has a license associated with it, so I need to know what would be the probability of this change.  Support could not answer this question.

    Thanks to all in advance.

Have you checked the http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-55/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-55-networking-guide.pdf 148 pages

Documentation - once the MAC address is generated, it does not change unless the virtual machine MAC address conflicts

with that of another virtual machine saved. The MAC address is stored in the virtual machine configuration file.

  • Script to set the static Mac address

I have an Infrastructure virtual with about 200 vm with several vNIC and automatic Mac address. I need to assign static Mac for all NICs for and want to perform this operation with a powershell script and a csv input file. I have the entry csv file that looks like this: Vm, portgroup Mac Vm1 00:11:22:33 Vm1, pg1, pg2, 00:11:22:44 Vm2, pg1, 00:11:44:44 (I know the Mac above are not valid) can anyone help with the powershell code to automate the static configuration of mac?  Thanks in advance

    Hello, ITS.

You should be able to use the following to achieve:

    ## import the info from the CSV$colNICInfo = Import-Csv c:\vmNICInfo.csv$colNICInfo | %{ $oSingleNICInfo = $_ ## get the VM, get its NetworkAdapters and for the one whose NetworkName matches that from the CSV, set its MAC address Get-VM $oSingleNICInfo.VMName | Get-NetworkAdapter | ?{$_.NetworkName -eq $oSingleNICInfo.NetwkName} | Set-NetworkAdapter -MacAddress $oSingleNICInfo.MACAddr -Confirm:$false -WhatIf} ## end foreach-object

    A few things to note:

    • I left the '-WhatIf "parameter on the Set-NetworkAdapter portion, so that you can run this first (perhaps with a small sample of game in the CSV file) to check that things look like they will work.  Remove this parameter to set the MAC addresses
    • The code provides that the CSV of this format:
      MACAddr VMName, NetwkName,
      someVM, VLAN128, 00:50:56:00:00:0F
    • The cmdlet Set-NetworkAdapter requires the new MAC address in the range 00:50:56:00:00:00 - 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF.  It's not the range likely to use, VMware only a subset.  Seems to be a limitation of the cmdlet (probably intentional).

Message edited by mattboren: added a note about removing "-WhatIf" to actually set the MAC addresses of the network adapters

You're almost there, the MAC address must be specified as a string, enclose it.

    New machine virtual- - name VMSTORE23 - $vmhost $esxhost - $datastore - DiskMB 20000 - MemoryMB 2048 Datastore - NumCpu 2 - NetworkName "Vlan 6 Machine virtual network | Get-NetworkAdapter | Set-NetworkAdapter -Type Vmxnet3 -MacAddress "00:50:56:bb:00:2 b" - confirm: $false

I added the - confirm the setting, as it will not request the change.

  • MAC address purging do not ISE MAC Authentication Bypass database

I'm having a problem where my client's MAC addresses are not be purged automatically from the ISE.  It is a simple amp construction, where users are offered a cover page and must hit 'accept' to access the internet.  When the user does this, their MAC address is added to LSE, and then they can visit his profile.

I need clients who will be presented to the splash page at least once a day.  Because the MAC address is added when they hit accept, they never get again presented start page, unless I have manually delete the MAC of Administration > identities > endpoints.

I put the frequency of bleeding under Administration > identity mgmt > settings to 1 day and under settings Portal comments for "purge endpoints of this identity group every day 1", but the MAC stay in this group even after several days.

I have also set the reauthentication is very short (30 min) in the thinking authorization profiles that might help, but the customer never receives the page again after hitting accept because the MAC is still listed in the endpoint group.  The only way to get the start page to reappear for customers is to manually remove the ISE MAC...

Is there something else I am missing to make this feature work?

Attached are a few screenshots of the parameters.

    Thank you!

It looks like a bug, seems to me that you do it right, I got it working for a client in point 1.3 of the ISE, just with a much longer period before the purge (3 months). ISE what version are you on?

There is a device of Wirelsss appears when I connect to the router that does NOT have an IP address but it has a MAC address. An interesting point is that the router device itself has a number of MAC that is not anywhere in the list of devices. Any ideas what this could be? Why the address of the router device do not show in the list of anywhere?

  • How to find the MAC address for photosmart c510 - printer, not zineb

    HP Photosmart c510 all-in-One

    Windows 7 SP1

    Printer bought 2 weeks ago.

Printer wireless light is not on, not even flashing

I use MAC address filtering on my home wireless router.  No problem adding the Zeen, I found that it is easy MAC.  Of course for the printer, it says "Printer not available" on the display of zineb, just below the zitoun MAC address.

So I need to add the MAC address of the printer to my router.  I know that I can turn off filtering by MAC address and I hope that the printer connects, and then I can print the printer network settings, get the MAC, and then again turn on the filter and add the printer Mac

Is this the ONLY way I can get the MAC address of the printer?  I'd rather not have to do that whole process, but will if I have to.

I also wonder why the printer wireless light is not even blinking as he is looking for a network.

    Can anyone help?

Print a network Test Wireless in the network menu on the front of the printer. It will contain the MAC address. Note that MAC filtering is not in that ensure that used MAC addresses are sent in the clear, and it is easy to impersonate a MAC address on a computer.

  • Bind the MAC to the static IP address with WRT54GL router

    Hello

We use the WRT54GL Wireless router to connect 4 pc to internet. One of these pc requires a static IP address, because the router can do only reliable port-forwarding for IP static (I would ssh it and use it as a web server). I was told that this router has this ability, but for the life of me I can't find.

Could someone tell me how to proceed? I am running the latest firmware (v4.30.11).

Thanks in advance for your reply,

    Michiel

DD - WRT is fairly stable and well maintained. There are a lot of people using it and you get excellent support, if you don't mind not very technical responses to opportunities. Generally, the flashing of the firmware does not support the warranty. But that wouldn't be a problem if you have had a bad flash. And even for a bad flash you often have options to recover the router.

For the static IP address on the computer, change the settings of network to the ethernet interface. I do not know Gentoo you should have administration GUI for this somewhere.

You can use the following values:

IP (as mentioned earlier) for instance 192.168.1.10
    subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    address of the gateway 192.168.1.1
    192.168.1.1 DNS server

As long as the static IP addresses do not conflict with the DHCP server address pool create there will be problems running some static IP computers in the same local network with DHCP clients.

    > NIC seems to work fine with whatever he chooses - but how MAC address can be change by itself?

The physical MAC address is not editable, but there are a few ways to spoof the mac address
For example, using Windows XP, the MAC address can be changed in the properties of the Ethernet adapter. On the Advanced tab, under "MAC address", "Locally administered address", "Ethernet address" or "network address". The name of this option depends on the Lan driver that is installed on your laptop. And important note; not all drivers are supported changing the MAC address of this way.

In addition the system registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} contains some parameters of the network interface and the option called NetworkAddress will serve to set the MAC address.

There are also tools that could spoof the address MAC for example, SMAC MAC Address Changer.
Finally and above all some routers provide an option to change the MAC address.
