Stolen Firefox search

When you search from the Firefox start page the results page to this address bar search, the http://www.protectedsearch.com or the igear.com. Who are they and how do I get rid. I can't find them in all the research I've done.

  • Can I get the Firefox search bar for not automatically, go to the site of the search engine I spend?

The Firefox search bar seems to have changed since the last update. I understand that things are changing constantly and get used to them, but I wonder if it is possible to change the rear bar to the way it was, or at least understand why it changed.

Basically, I used to be able to switch from search engines by choosing from the drop-down list, and would not put me right at the site of this search engine. He didn't actually bring me to the site once I hit the search button (or enter). It's quite annoying to have to remember to open a new tab before changing search engines in order to avoid sailing away from the tab that you are currently on, and it's also annoying that when you open a new tab and change the search engines, you are immediately taken to the site of this search engine. It feels like an extra step (ranging from 'the empty tab search engine page to search result' instead of 'empty tab to search result').

I know it sounds like a minor complaint, no doubt, but I'm really really curious to know why it was changed. More important, I want to know if there is a way to customize the way it was.

    Thanks for any help!

Many users have been raising this issue. I mentioned the same question in this post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1086138

In summary, it seems that the Firefox team is not intend to bring back the ability to return to the old bar search, which was possible (but in a very biased way) in older versions of 42. For now, you can either:

    • Download module additional classic restaurateur theme to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/?src=ss and then select the old search option
    • Go back to Firefox 42 and set the browser.search.showOneOffButtons property in Subject: config. However, with older versions poses a risk to the security that you won't have bug fixes provided with version 43
  • Hebrew does not appear in the securities or Firefox search box tabs

Hebrew does not appear in the Firefox search box, or in the title tabs. But when I type in the Firefox search box and press ENTER, it searches and displays written correctly in the Google search box in the Google results page. Firefox is the latest version. Mac's OS X 10.6.8. I see that Microchip470 has posted exactly the same problem.

What finally solved my problem has been installed the module "Theme font & size changer", then change the font in the search box of Firefox thanks to the add-on.

Despite my constant removal of Yahoo in all search preferences, it keeps returning automatically to my defaul for Firefox search. Help, please! I hate Yahoo!

On Mac, this most commonly seems to be caused by Spigot or pipe modules, or something else that snuck in without being detected with other software that you downloaded.

Please try to disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CMD + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete). Especially if you find something called SearchMe.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

Is that what helps you regain control?

  • Disable Firefox search and/or stroke shortened on Android

I would like to disable the shortcut by scanning to access the search Firefox of the on screen navigation keys, or disable Firefox search entirely on v35.0 Android. There doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off in the settings, nor is it an application separate to disable entry. Is there a way to disable this shortcut or search entirely?

I don't think it's possible to implement a setting to turn off this feature in firefox. It is reported to the android OS installation via a manifest file is an app that contains a searchactivity.
I think it would be rather the work of the operating system to provide a means of management or the deactivation of this gesture of drag...

The search bar just happens to have Google as default search engine.

    1. Click on the button Add to Firefox on the next page.

    2. Check "Make the current search engine", then click on the Add button.
    3. You can always switch to another search engine by clicking on the icon on the left side of the search bar.

  • Hijacked conduit Firefox search; Topic: Config disabled

A new version of driving has hijacked my FireFox browser, among other things. Everytime I open a new tab, he returned to leads rather than my default to Google search engine. Any mistake of typing in a url sent me to bing via ducts. I used to be able to get in: config and solve these problems, but now, any attempt to do that simply sends me to bing. It is a horrible mess and continues to be, and FF users should block these redemptions of conduit.

A note on what has been done before hitting the forum: Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware full scan, which found and removed a number of things, all related lines. Kapersky TDSSKiller and MMDA Chameleon found no problem.

The "entrusted11" addon pretends to uninstall. The FF restarts, he was always there. In the meantime, I ran scan of Hitman Pro. It found and fixed several things led the others missed, as well as known malware. After a reboot of the machine, the Entrusted11 addon uninstall for real.

Another problem: FireFox has been configured to use a proxy. I put that back to no proxy and redirects it to Bing went.

Search for Reset the extension installed and ran, but something (popup of an icon in the bar of tasks or FF addon - they are close together and he quickly disappeared) blocked changes to the configuration of the home page. Reset manually under this kind of things: Tools-> Options-> general.

Right-click on the icon of checkerboard newtab grew up the usual context menu for offline right click on web pages, without option to reset anything, BUT after using Hitman Pro and the reboot of the machine, this problem has cleared up.

Internet Explorer is still hijacked, how Hitman Pro has not resolved all the problems on this machine. I want to use Firefox some time before calling this post solved.

  • Configuration of the Firefox search bar

    Firefox 14.0.1 on Windows XP.

The Firefox search bar is one of the most useful features; and I use it dozens, or even hundreds of times every day. Especially on Google and a few times on Amazon.

Now recently all Google results are redirected Google.si; with mostly Japanese results. Even if I go to google, com wesite, it redirects me to Google.si

Now, I know that I can use http://www.google.com/ncr to prevent redirection.

The question is: How can I change the Firefox search bar to not redirect me?

Thanks for any help with this!

Google should not redirect more once you have visited the Google.com site, either by clicking on the link Google.com (setprefdomain? prefdom = US) at the bottom of the Japanese page or through the /ncr switch.

Make sure that you keep cookies and perhaps local storage as well.

  • When I try to type on the bar or crashes my firefox search engine. How can I fix? I can surf between sites, but when I try to type something blocking firefox.

It was a typical day. I wake up and check my places as usual. But this weird problem started suddenly to crash my firefox. When I try to type google search box, firefox search box or bar firefox crashes to address. I use Kaspersky Pure and no sign of the virus. Can I visit the sites normally. Other computers in my house don't crash like this. I'll send this issue on my laptop.

Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.

See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

When you use Firefox, a site jumped upward and said it is Firefox search virus. He said then I got dangerous viruses and need to download a security program. It's for real? The site has been update32.escmce.ce.ms I googled this site and it does not exist. Now, I'm worried about security on my computer.

Sounds very similar to what I had come last week. I did not now what the site was, but I noticed that the box seems to be analysis what were the Windows system files, it could not have been real. I do not download anything either, and I think that if you have not then you are probably safe. I am far from being an expert in the field and am sure that someone with more expertise will also. I learned that the best thing to do is vacuum history of cache, cookies and remove and close the browser. Don't try not even close the box that I have read. I don't know if I did or not. I think that there is some nasty things circulating right now try to deceive us in their installation on our Macs. I agree that it's a very scary experience. I was shaking when it first happened to me.

  • by default Firefox search engine

Hello, I have problems with my default firefox engine. I know how to change my default engine. I have change to Google as my default search engine in the browser bar. But every time when I restart the firefox, the default engine is automatically changed to 'firefox search engine' and using Yahoo to find things. This phenomenon has happened all of a sudden one day, and then continue to occur daily. I would like to know if there are solutions? Or I need to download Google Chrome to resolve it?

It's fun to try other browsers. But even Google Chrome is infected by pirates of research from time to time. You will see on their forums when users install free software bundles containing options unworthy of trust.

Since there is no 'Firefox search engine', it is certainly suspicious. Here's my method to track down and clean the bad Add - ons and other hijackers. I know it seems long, but it's really not that bad.

    (For Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10;) XP is a little different)

    (1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. Beware of everything that you don't recognize / remember, since malware often uses sounding names important or innocent to discourage you remove. Out as much garbage as possible here.

    (2) open Firefox page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
    • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
      firefox.exe "about:addons"

In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. All extensions are optional; the troublemaker is perhaps not obvious from the name.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

    (3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.

At this point, Firefox keeps your default settings between sessions? If this is not... a little more to think about.
