Storage space lost on my mac

Today, I tried to install OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.1 with SSD 250 GB 10 Windows via Boot Camp on my MacBook Pro (retina, mid-2012). I had about 80 GB of free and I gave 40 for Windows and 40 GB for mac. I got to step within the training camp where it has partition my SSD, and I left for a few minutes. When I came back my Macbook has restarted. I opened disk utility and I saw that under APPLE SSD SM256E Media, it says 251 GB but under Macintosh HD only 209,79 GB of 47,91 GB of free capacity. It seemed have partitioned but it didn't and that's why I lost storage space.

If she has not partitioned, where the missing Go? Why is the 209,79 only one GB of capacity? Please, help me. Thank you!

Can you post the output of the following Terminal commands?

diskutil list

Cs diskutil list

sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

The "sudo" commands will prompt to enter your password, and there do not appear to come back. You can also see caution against improper use 'sudo' and the potential loss of data due to an "abuse" of the order.

  • Storage space missing afte burning multiple disks

I am running Yosemite (10.10.5) on a 15 "MacBook Pro with the display Retina (MBP). In the last four days, I burned about ¾ of a terabyte of various files (mostly photos) on DVD and CD using a USB 3.0 external drive (Pioneer BDR-XD06S).

I copy a Seagate 2 TB external hard drive (default) file folder on the MBP, burn the required DVD or CD, then copy the original file of the MBP on a new 3TO Fantom external hard drive and delete it from the MBP. I would also delete any folder of "Untitled DVD" that has been created... and again after having burned the first two discs, each time that the deletion of the file is complete there will be less space storage available on the MBP than before.  Now the MBP says there only 99,58 GB of available storage - even accounting for all of the new files I transferred into the MBP of my camera, my iPhone update, etc etc, that the number is too low at least 45-50 GB!

Utility disk, says all is OK, but I'm more nervous about storage disappears as if by magic. It's my first Mac with SSD storage instead of a conventional hard drive, so I don't know what to think - if someone has encountered this problem and if so how to recover space lost memory?

What app did you use to burn to DVD?

And only burn you data or video discs (movies/videos/slide shows)?

  • storage space loser iPhones

    Hello-

I'm in the IT Dept of my company.  We have several iphones everywhere in the company.  I have two specific users who have phones 16 GB.  It seems that since these two users have done the 9.3 update iOS, they lost all their storage space.  I was able to fix that backup to iCloud, reset the phone and restore.  The two returned to the neighborhood of 9 GB of available.  They both were doing the upgrade to 9.3.1 and it's the same thing.  From one day to the next, all the free space seems to have disappeared.  They gave me the phone and I did once more the thing backup and restore to recover their space (just did last week).  I just heard them today and they both lose the space quickly.  It disappeared completely and the other fell to 2 GB.  Nor said that they added something important for phones.  Looking at the space used in the storage to manage, add the number simply to zero.

Nor has loaded the App Whatsapp.  Any thoughts on what could happen?  Both are models of the iPhone 6.

    Thank you-

They use the flow of photos from iCloud, feature photo library or music Apple?

If so, try disabling these features and see if the free space is always getting lost.

  • What to do you when "your iCloud-storage space is almost full"?

What are my options (other than the remuneration.99 $ per month) to avoid hitting the wall of 5 GB?

Go to settings > iCloud > storage > storage to manage and then click on the device (if you have more than one synchronization to iCloud). You will then see a screen with a list of what is sync to iCloud. You can browse this list and uncheck the things that you do not need synchronization.

You can also import your photos on your computer and delete all or part of your phone in order to free up space:

    PHOTO IMPORT IOS ON MAC/PC

You basically just need to manage your storage space in order to reduce the amount of space that is taken to the top.

  • Additional storage space

Hey you all I really need your help so that's

    I have a MBP early 2011 with a 500 GB I have now only 68.5 GB left

    1. what I want to do is pretty much everything to an external HD and be able to recover anything at any time with or without connection (wifi, bluetooth etc.)

for example, I'm working on my MBP and need to work on graphics so I go to the large external HD, software works on it and then save it but without saving it on my MBP

can I do this? If so, how? What do I need?

    2. can I just back up all my files and all the stuff on the external hard drive without them being on my MBP?

I already have a lot of CDs and DVDs, putting a lot of my files about 50 + and I still have a lot more

    3. I have a time capsule 2 t with only 168 GB left how can I remove backups, but not the first 5?

    4. If I delete iBooks on my MBP they will remove my iPad and iPhone?

    Help, please! I really need

I'm a bit confused about the "without a connection" - you need to connect your mac to your external storage space, period. Usually by USB.

    1. purchase a USB hard drive - get a big one - 2,3,4 TB

    2. connect.

3 format correctly for Apple. Install any driver.  Disk for this utility.

    4. move any files you want here. You can put aliases - are these folders folder in your document (or music) If you wish. Seek and learn about aliases.

    Enjoy.

  • Problem of storage space

    Hello

I have a problem in my mac storage space... In 'about this mac' box it says I have 70 GB of movies, which is totally false!

I checked many times and searched using formats, such as '.mp4, etc "for any film that might be on the system... There is NO.

There are no movies on my mac because I keep all switch to an external hard drive.

I do not understand whence this 70 GB, any help please?

PS: I have something suspicious... I dropped over 70 GB of movies via iTunes 'OPlayer HD' App on my iPad

Maybe this related question? The problem is that my iPad backup ' size is just 400 MB :/

    Thank you all!

When you delete things in iTunes it moves to the basket, then you will need to empty the Recycle Bin to reclaim your space.

In Spotlight search results preferences are selected as a criterion of movie search

    Or

    Try re-indexing of Spotlight.

Go to System Preferences > Projectors > privacy

Click on the button Add your HD quit System preferences.

Restart System preferences, remove HD from the list of privacy.

Spotlight should start indexing, give it time.

You can download Omnisweeper here, https://www.omnigroup.com/more

  • What is eating my storage space?

    Hi guys,.

My Mac as a 750 GB HARD drive. He got full. So, I bought a WD 2 TB HARD drive to free up space on my mac for the WD.

I've moved many files from my Mac to my WD, but my Mac still has 1.75 GB left! How can I know what eating my storage space on my mac?

    (I use FCPX)

Did you delete files on your system drive that have been moved and then you clear? When you move items to another disk, they are copied, so you have temporarily two copies - the original and new locations.

If their trash, you could download OmniDIskSweeper, which is a free utility and provide a detailed report of what is stored on your drives - sorted according to size.

  • Get rid of 'Other' storage space? Tried everything

I have more than 80 GB of unused 'other' storage space on my Mac which is impossible to remove. I downloaded various software to counter that. I downloaded Onyx and did all the cleaning operations which gave no result, except that I tried fixing disk permissions, but the status bar has not moved for more than an hour, so I gave up on it (I guess that's maybe the question, but I can't solve currently). I can not also check the S.M.A.R.T status, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Disk utility Mac app says that everything works well. I downloaded OmniDiskSweeper but I don't know which files listed are those that Mac didn't actually need to run and who make up the storage space 'Other', so I don't know what to delete. It feels like I need everything that is there and just cannot locate this scum of mystery. I also tried to download CCleaner, but it was not supported for some reason any. I started in safe mode to force a disk check, but it just told me that my drive is full I already know.

I regularly erase my history and internet data as well as download, garbage, the attachments folder, and I hardly have photos or applications. Are there alternatives to work to easily get rid of the unused data segment?

Other includes your calendar and contacts (as well as everything that is in the other category) are you sure that you want to remove these basic data.

  • How to set the storage space allocated to the restoration of the system to 200 MB?

Could you tell me how to set the maximum storage limit to 200 MB?

Whenever I have delete system restore points, my hard disk free space increases about 10%.  About a week or so later, it's back to where it was before I deleted the restore points.

It is very important for me because I am sure that storage space is set too high.

  • Windows is losing large amounts of storage space without telling me

In recent weeks I've been watching my local disk drive (c) (only the petition on that computer) to see if I was using storage space. I noticed that I am losing a large amount of storage space. AVG disk space analysis, I have 176 GB of files in my local disk (c). My windows Explorer, however, I have 335 GB of files on my local drive (c). Which means there are 159 GB of files in my PC that I never new existed, and I can't find where. My concern is that it is a form of Malware, like in the last 24 hours, I've lost 15 gb + space, even if I haven't downloaded something.

I apologize if it was a little hard to follow, as I found it hard to explain. If anyone knows what it is, if it is in fact something, please share your information with me. Thank you.

There could be lots of things like backups, restore points, etc.  There is a 3rd party app called from Jam software Treesize (free) which will tell you what is using that space.

  • Adobe CC storage space alerts

Hi, I'm confused about my storage space on my Adobe CC account because I frequently receive alerts that I am running out of storage. I currently have a version student (limit of 20 GB.) When I click on the info of creative cloud on my desk, the dialog box indicates that I am only using 3.22 GB (see this link for the screenshot: http://prntscr.com/6qu59h). When I click on the search parameters and Adobe cloud icon, I see this (http://prntscr.com/6qu7w9) 94.75% of 20 MB.   Can you help me understand the difference in numbers?   Thank you.

When you delete files (and folders) in the folder of Creative Cloud Files on your desktop objects are not immediately deleted but moved to the Archive (think Trash on Mac OS X or the Recycle Bin on Windows). The Archive is not on your computer, but in creative Cloud files storage.

Open a browser and visit Adobe Creative Cloud. You can then permanently delete items from the Archive by [1] select the ones you want to remove and choosing Delete permanently, or [2] if you want to remove all simply choose an Archive empty.

  • Feast your eyes on the hassles of storage space on IOS

So I have a very large collection of photographs, a couple hundred concerts a value and I thought that Adobe Revel would be the way to go to clean up quickly and easily with access on all my devices.

The problems is that the Adobe Revel app for my iPhone 4 (as well as all applications IOS Revel) insists on storing thumbnails of ALL my photos from my collection of 16,000 + photo. This means that more than 500 megabytes of space on my phone value is constantly dedicated to store photos that I rarely need. This may not seem a big deal to some, on a device with 14 GB of free space value, 500 MB is the equivalent of half of a film or a few pounds of medium length.

I appreciate the convenience of being able to scroll through everything quickly because it is already loaded. I understand that. But it's the 21st century and I think that we should have a few choices as to the amount of space this app takes over. I mean, my collection of photos is not exactly going to become all small is it?

I think we should be able to establish within Revel HOW MUCH storage the application will use to these thumbnails instead of having the decision EVERY being by default. In view of my own choice, I would set it at everything marked as a favorite and everything from the last 2 weeks. I think it's a thing just to ask for a big developer that Adobe can easily use it in their product.

Because right now the app is completely broken. Any attempt to open the application causes the message pop up "not enough local storage space: import was stopped because there is not enough storage available to Revel on this device." Please free up some space and try again. "Rejecting this message only allows him to appear again IMMEDIATELY. Can we at least fix the application so that I can still import to the cloud from my phone even when my phone cannot accept any thumbnails more?

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

If you are using a MAC, then you can check the State of the (s) library view and make sure that nothing is in the download queue. You can do so by looking at each library, click on the point to the left of the name. It will give you a status for this library. If you are sure that all additions are made, clear the caches for each library. You can have more than one library using the space.

On your iphone or ipad, switch to the view of the library for each library and look at the left icon of low clouds over the library icon. Beside that, you will see "updated" if she has completed synchronization.  You can click on the cloud for more information.

You can also confirm the images are uploaded by signing into the same account using another device or a browser to www.adoberevel.com. Try to download some original images. If more loads are completed, you should see the new images download and be able to view them.

If the files are synchronized and empty the cache doesn't help, I suggest that you remove the application, and then reload. Your photos will always be safe stored in the cloud. You will have some time to delay the first use you it because of the loading in the thumbnails. Please let me know if this reduces the amount of space used.

  • Bad percentage of storage space

(User MBP) When I click on my cloud top-right icon, it indicates that I have used 26% (5.3 GB) of my storage space allocated on the server. However, there is no file present in my CC account. It shows why I'm sure that a lot of space when I have nothing in the folder?

You have all the files in your archives?

To the left of the sidebar on the right of the files page, you should see three icons from view - grid (the default), list and Archive.

The Archive is like the Recycle Bin on Windows or the trash on Mac OS X. files it contains still count against your storage space unless you remove them permanently.
