straighten tool repeatedly crashing ACR

I havn't seen this problem reported anywhere else, but I can't seem to go in.

I use CS4 with all updated. I shoot with a canon 40 d and the 5dmkii. I never had this problem in CS3

I'll load some raw files (does not seem to be affected by how many images I load at once) and click on the tool of succession. Sometimes I'm good for a 20 + straigtening adjustments before it crashes, but then ususally once it crashes if I load them up again, it will crash in one or two uses of the tool straightining.

tool reset in photoshop and rest of the Bridge preferences preferences will help it work for a certain time, but inevitbly it will crash again when using this tool.

No other tool have no problem, and if I do not use the tool that straighten my computer can load 400 + 5dmkii raw images to make adjustments and cultures without any problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

Covertops0045,

Can you try the Camera Raw 5.5 update and let us know if that fixes the problem?

I suspect a corrupted system file. SFC could fix that. Reset Internet Explorer can help. At worst, I think you can fix it with a relocation, or "inplace upgrade" Win 7 from the installation DVD.

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. click Startand type cmd in the box start the search .

2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue

    4. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

  • iPad repeatedly crashing - caused by downloading movies

I meet my 4th generation iPad's repeated crashes that seem to be caused by iTunes, downloading a movie automatically (so undemanded). There are not enough room on my iPad to download the movie, so I don't not demanding, but the iPad tries repeatedly to download the movie. I disabled automatic downloads for music, apps etc but there is no box to "TIC TAC" for movies.

I'm at the end of my patience, my iPad becomes almost unusable due to the constant breaks down. I think I'll have to do a reset to the factory settings, but I am not convinced that it will heal. I watched the movie on my Apple TV so I can't download it!

Any suggestions would be welcome because I am extremely bothered by this, but in every other sense, I love my iPad. But not when it crashes...

Reset: hold the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10 to 20 seconds).

  • Repeatable crashes on properties > additional metadata (mac)

    Hi all.

    New user here.

I just bought CS5.5 at my local Mac store and am running Acrobat Pro 10.0.0.

I'm working with pdf metadata but I get repetitive crashes on a file > properties > additional metadata (click once or twice) on my pdf /all/. This is regardless of the source of the pdf file and it was repeated after the removal of several Adobe plists as reproducible on a Test account. It also happens on my MacBookPro and my Mac Pro. I am running Snow Leopard.

Apparently advanced technical Assistance is supposed to get back to me in the next day or so. Did anyone had this problem and/or has an idea of where to go to fix this? Is someone using this feature on Mac with success?

    Thank you

    J

Adobe does not confirm the dates of any future bugfixes to the public. Each bug is prioritized based on severity and complexity, as well as the calendar is constantly evolving. Thank you it's frustrating.

Properties > additional metadata into force button takes you to the XMP library, so as much metadata is not encrypted any other software that can manipulate XMP will see it too (like Adobe Bridge, and there is a whole list of things here). In Acrobat X, if you want to see (but not change) the XMP tree, you can use Preflight (it's a bit messy but it will show you the data):

Open the preflight tools > Print Production Panel, then choose something out of the list of profiles or audits that isn't a fix (i.e. has no key symbol). All you want is to run something without making any changes, you are looking for in the results window. Click on analyze, then on the result window, open the overview > Document information tree - all your metadata are there.

  • Straighten tool - PSE 8

Hi, I'm experimenting PSE 8 as an upgrade for the V6.  I seem to have a problem using the straighten.  I can straighten horizontal without problem, but this is a portrait that I have a problem with.

When I turn on the tool, I used the mouse pointer in the shape of cross, but as soon as I hit CTRL on the keyboard, it turns into an arrow with a cross next to him.  This forbids me from clicking and dragging - if I try I get an error message: Impossible to perform this operation on the locked background layer.  You want to convert the background locked in an editable layer Layer?  If I click Yes to this error message, or if I try it on a layer duplicated, all that happens is that I am dragging the layer autour.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong, or not do?  Exactly the same process works very well in PSE6.

I did a search on the forums and will not produce what.  Not a great start for me with PSE8 - the first image I want to change and the first thing I always do to an image, once I open it in ACR, and I'm stuck!  Now I have it straightened in PSE6, saved as a PSD and open in PSE8 to continue editing but hopefully upgrade if I need a solution.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Ally, Cambridge, UK

This may sound strange, but the way I had to work in PSE - 8 Editor is first draw a vertical line on the item to straighten. Once the line is drawn don't release the mouse key but press the control key and button at the same time, the mouse and control.

  • Finder crashing and causing repeatedly crashes on Macbook Pro

I use a Macbook Pro retina 15 "and using OS X El Capitan, verion 10.11.5.

After a recent transfer of photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, to close iPhoto, the icon Finder keeps 'jump' the top down and the same error repeatedly, showing in the dialog in the middle of the screen (it flashes until disappears, flashes up, disappears several times without end):

It is not possible to click on one of the options in the dialog box. This caused other problems now. If I open all the Apps then they crash instantly, or open for about 10-15 seconds before crashing and flashing error up to 'preferences system closed unexpectedly' report etc. Non-Apple apps (for example MS Word/Powerpoint) survive longer opening. If I try to open system preferences or the System State and then they all have two crash as well. So basically, other than documents such as PDFs or pictures, everything I opened crashes a few seconds to open. I restarted the Mac - regular options still appear to stop down and restart by pressing the power button. I tried the tips on other forums, but the steps they describe require opening applications or programs that simply plant when I opened (e.g. try opening the Terminal).

If I briefly to open an App and then reappear items on my desktop. If there is no apps temporarily only open then the contents of the Office disappears.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • Vista - Windows Explorer repeated crashes / Invisible Notification icons

    Hi all

First of all, thank you in advance for reading my problem and for any help that anyone can provide.

My computer has been recently infected with Antimalware Doctor, a fake antivirus program type you want to send money to "fix" everything what he reported. I went to the record of his program and deleted directly. After that, Windows Explorer seems to crash everytime I'm wriggling on the State of Notification bar icons. It would be close all my files, I was working on that. I found a work around that puts each folder in a separate task, so it's a minor relief.

I did a full scan with Norton 360 and returned the next day. Things seem to be fine, until an hour later, the Explorer has crashed again. I noticed that it seems to hang exactly one hour after it starts. Accidents have occurred at 19:59, 59:08 and 09:59, a bit like clock work. Even with no opening of files. I ran the Malwarebyte Anti-Malware and CC Cleaner several times. Each has found and "corrected" several errors, some of the fake antivirus. Explorer will crash an hour later still.

Another symptom that may or may not be related, is that the Notification tray icons are invisible. I can hover over where they should be, get a ToolTip and use them normally, but they are simply not listed.

Here are the details of the problem of my last fall (just before I started this post.)

    Signature of the problem:

I just restart explorer.exe after pasting this info, and the status bar icons are still visible. I'll wait to see if the program crashes again.
