Strange behavior of data and other improvements

Hi all

I did a .vi that records three analog voltages (a microphone, one on the whole of the sound source and the other through a resistance of 1 Ohm for the application of measures of power) and three problems. It is my first time here, so bear with me please.

1. the plot tension of the microphone (supplied to the device, NI USB-6259, through Ghost and XLR adapter BNC power) shows a kind of "load" that I don't think that should be there. In addition, the other two parcels of power vs. sample do not show such a trend. For reference, I'm out of tension, and the aircraft makes so sound, before I even start recording. The plot of voltage microphone should be constant over a range of sample semi as the input signal is just a tone 1 kHz.

2. the registration of the data in a .lvm file takes about three times as long as registration. This is not as critical, but it would be nice to reduce the time if possible.

3. I need to make sure all samples of the three input strings are synchronized with the time, because they will be used to create a transfer function. I read that this device uses multiplexing; is it possible to make the time between reading a sample on a channel, then the next less (or 0)? In addition, how to set the scan list?

I have attached the .vi, an image of the block diagram and an image of the power of three parcels and zooms in on the plots of the device voltage and resistance to show consistency. Any help is very appreciated!

Thank you!

I'm about to go home for the evening, but take a look at this very hasty extract VI (save on the desktop and then drag on a block diagram) of inspiration:

In the upper loop, you acquire some of the samples in each loop and the Queuing data to the background loop where you write to the file. Is obviously absent, how to stop the down loop once you have finished writing all data - a look at the examples should give you some help here.

    Hello

    I have an iPhone 16 GB 6 more. It's the worst iPhone I've ever owned, and it is my 5th. False advertising actually means it can store only 11.3 GB of data. I ran out of space, and as I do once in a while, I've wiped the phone and started to charge. A few hours later 3 GB space is used for who knows what. There are only 12 applications on the phone, which is its use adds up to 580 MB. Connect this piece of shit on iTunes poster 1.7 GB of "Documents and data" and 1 GB of 'Other' too much room. There is no songs, videos or podcasts on the phone. Mail is not implemented although iCloud configures your default e-mail account. I have that turned off. There is no voice messages or messages on the phone (it was just reset). Yet, 3 GB is taken. It's my fault for buying a phone with this lean storage, but I expect to be able to use WHAT I have, even if Apple advertising is false. I read all the major blogs about how to clean this space, but they do not change a thing. What can I do at this point? Even a complete reset does not erase it. Only a year until I'm out of my contract, so it's an Android city for me.

    Thank you

    It is not false advertising. It's called math... Storage is calculated using decimal calculation for sale, where 1 KB = 1000 bytes. Computers don't work that way, they use hexadecimal math where 1 KB = 1024 bytes. As storage gets bigger, the gap grows as well. It is also time required for formatting and error correction.

    This is the way it has been since the dawn of electronic computers.

    If you are that unhappy in his subject, go buy something else... Let us know how that works for you.

  • Removal of Documents and data and other

    Material: iPhone 5

    Software: iOS 9.2 (at day, on this day)

    I have an old iPhone 5 that I'm redirecting as music player. I did a thorough cleaning ("erase all content and settings') of the device before you start. I copied the music on it (via iTunes on my MacBook). After a few moments, I noticed that the use of "Documents & data" is now about 900MB, and 'Other' is about 350 MB. What is this, and how do I empty?

    There are no installed applications (other than those which are by default on the phone). He has been in flight since the reset mode (but with WiFi and Bluetooth on), and it is an inactive SIM (got a new with my new phone, so this SIM has been disabled by my company). The only active account on my Apple account. No email, social media, etc. accounts are configured. There is no photos, videos, podcasts, or anything else on it. The use of the storage (under 'manage storage') shows some nominal storage by default applications (from 16 KB to 2 MB) and there is nothing further stated within each application.

    Then... What is only 1.25 GB of things which are appeared unexpectedly? And more importantly, how can I get rid of him? Other than music files (and the music app), there is no other applications or data on the iPhone that needs to be saved.

    Thank you.

    'Other' data the iOS itself, as well as any app data, messages or email.  350 MB is low, so it's mainly the iOS.  The Documents and the data is most likely the work of art album data, and associated playlists etc.

  • Strange behavior with postGlobalEvent and eventOccurred()...

    Hello world

    I have a browser plugin for my application that will do two things:

    Firstly, when the BlackBerry browser is forwarded to a Web page with a particular MIME type, the browser plugin will say my application to go to the foreground. It works without any problem.

    Secondly, the browser plugin will display a global event at my request. My request, making use of eventOccurred(), will look for this event and the EC type-approval, it will execute an authorize() method that I have. This also works. However, I notice some strange behavior:

    The first time my application launches the BlackBerry browser and goes to the page specified (with a custom MIME type), everything works fine. If I had while my application to launch the browser and do it AGAIN, my authorize() method is running TWICE. If I open the browser of my application for the third time, so my authorize() method is started THREE times. See the model?

    .. .This is all this without leaving my application. If I had to leave and then start my application again, the 'sequence' prior would begin again. Thus, it seems that whenever x times that I repeat this process, the eventOccurred() method will receive x events.

    Here are a few snippets:

    public class Events {
        final public static int EVENT_AUTHORIZE = 1;
        final public static int EVENT_OTHER = 2;
    }

    manager.postGlobalEvent(pid, 0xCAFEBABE, 1, 0, null, null);

    public void eventOccurred(long guid, int event_type, int arg2, Object arg3,
                Object arg4) {
            if (guid == 0xCAFEBABE) {
                switch (event_type) {
                case Events.EVENT_AUTHORIZE:
                    authorize();
                    System.out.println("EVENT EXECUTION");
                    break;
                case Events.EVENT_OTHER:
                    break;
                }
            }

        }

    Can we see what is happening here? I've been "racking my brain" on this one for a while now...

    Thank you!

    "Thus, this can work any time the class is instantiated." The class is instantiated just before I open my browser".

    Application.getApplication().addGlobalEventListener(this);

    If you call the above (by instantiating your class) every time that you open the browser, applications to register this event listener again and again.

    If you're going to do it this way, make sure removeGlobalListener you when your application is done processing.

    "Can I make addGlobalListener when my application starts even if this class does not implement GlobalEventListener?"

    You can always have your UiApplication implement GlobalEventListener or just instantiate a new object that implements it in the constructor of your UiApplication.

  • Strange behavior of startup and cannot access the tools-> options menu

    Since this morning my LV8 installation does not display the normal startup dialog box (allowing you to open the existing screws or open a new one), but doesn't that immediately opens a new VI.  If I close this new NC and then instead of back to the Startup dialog box it opens a second new (empty) VI.    Furthermore, I can't open the tools-> option menu from a façade of VI.

    I tried to repair the installation of the LV and when that does not work I went for a complete deletion and don't reinstall - still no joy!

    I also check that it is not user specific, so that when I login as a different user on the same PC, I get the same behavior

    Help - please!

    Hi AMHurrel,

    This seems quite strange.

    Have you changed anything on your installation?

    When you say you did a complete removal and reinstall, how?

    Here are the steps I follow:

    The following procedure removes the software Instrument National:

    1. turn off the computer and physically remove or disconnect all devices that you have installed on your system.
    This includes everything-PCI, ISA, USB, 1394-, or based on ethernet.

    2 turn on the computer and go through Add/Remove Programs (START"SETTINGS" control PANEL"Add/Remove Programs)
    and remove all OR related. As a general rule, if you remember, it is best to uninstall things in
    the reverse order in which they were installed. For example, if you installed LabVIEW, then NOR-DAQ, then the
    Internet developers Toolkit for LabVIEW, you must uninstall the Internet firstly, developers kit
    NOR-DAQ, then last LabVIEW.

    3. once everything has been deleted (don't be concerned at this stage if an item still appears in the)
    Ajouter/suppression of programs list after you remove it), close all programs and restart your computer.

    4. go to the START button in your operating system, choose RUN and type 'regedit '. This will open up the registry
    The Editor window. Go to the registry Menu and choose Export registry file. Select 'All' to the export range,
    and select a file name. This creates a backup of the registry in case a mistake is made when you remove the key.

    5. remove the following components of the registry in the Windows registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments remove the entire tree!
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments remove the entire tree!
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\ or \ISA and remove registry entries containing one
    keys with 1093 in them.

    Don't worry if one of these trees are not listed. Continue with the rest of the process.

    Note: You may need to change the security policies. In Windows 2000, 98, 95, NT, go to [regedt32] then
    Security > permissions. In Windows XP, you can change the security using Edit options > permissions in the
    Publisher of the registry (regedit).

    6. close regedit.

    7. make sure that you don't have your own screws or other files in the "C:\VXIpnp."
    "C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a
    different location. If you are concerned about preserving old virtual tracks and your SCXI configuration.
    then save the file "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq", too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.

    Note: If you have Windows NT/2000, replace 'C:\Windows' with 'C:\WINNT' in the path listed above.

    8. save the attached file msiBlast.zip to your desktop.

    (a) extract the msiBlast.exe file from zip archive.
    (b) double click the downloaded msiBlast.exe file to run the executable.
    (c) choose the selection show only installers of NOR.

    (d) using select (Ctrl + left mouse click) of all National Instruments software that appears in MSIBlast.
    (e) press the button uninstall. This allows to uninstall all entries in register MSI of National Instruments.

    (f) Optional:
    The repair option will open the installer of National instruments and run the option fix in the installer.

    Maintenance mode will open the installer and allow the user to change the installation. To open the installation program indicate nothing in command line Arg? Dialog box.

    9. restart your computer.

    10. you should be ready to install your software. For the cleanest possible installation, first install all of your
    software application, such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio development, etc. Perform a custom installation so that you can
    Install just the request WITHOUT DRIVERS EVERYTHING. Restart your PC after each installation request.
    Even if the installation program does not tell you to restart, it would probably be a good idea to do it anyway.
    Now install the software driver and follow the associated user manuals. Some older non-Plug-and-Play hardware
    must be installed before the pilot. Download the latest versions of the drivers that support your hardware
    She draws from our drivers and software updates (link below) and install them one by one, reset after each
    install.

    11. Lastly, stop and re - install your hardware. When you start back, he must be detected in MAX.

    NEITHER drivers link:- http://www.ni.com/softlib.nsf

    * Attached is msiBlast.

    You get an error message?

    Let me know what you think,

    Kind regards

    Thank you

    Most of the time that it is cached of images and automatically backs up Apple has questioned if you want to erase this I let some instructions below:

    The steps are:

    (1) download the Battery Doctor app on your iPad (it's the first one that appears in the search)

    2) press the "Junk" icon on the bottom and press "clear the Cache".

    (3) repeat until your space becomes available. People that I learned this technique of some other bulletin board said it took 10-15 tries, but it could take 30 +. More you do the more it'll clear up this space.

  • Pavilion 11-n011dx: battery and other improvements

    I bought this laptop in may for my family to use. They were satisfied with the life of the battery, so I thought well lets just buy a new one. But, this isn't one of those models where the battery is directly accessible, I guess I have to disassemble the back in order to reach it. And so I guess it's not feasible to just replace the battery. Or is it?

    As customers HP have we the possibility to buy a new bigger battery? Or can I buy an external battery? Should what specifications we follow?

    In addition, what further improvements could I do to the laptop? I could add more RAM? Perhaps a bigger and faster disk hard?

    I've been googling and trying to navigate on the site of HP but nothing has developed which is really helpful in answering this question.

    Battery:

    Will be unavailable until 9/27 apparently. HP parts store does not have it and not available on eBay.

    On the SSD, you have a lot of options and you can even take an SSD in a store like Frys Electronics. Regular 2.5 inch SATA SSD are widely available and the WSSD m2 cards are much harder to find and more expensive. I recommend that you just picked up a SSD 2.5 inch and use to replace the hard drive.

  • drives great for groups of data and other files

    Hello

    I was asked to provide a large amount of storage through our cluster VM.  I was invited for between 100 and 200 terabytes and I was wondering if there is a way that vSphere can cope with this?  What I've read, you can not (LUN 32 x 2 TB) data from more than 64 to store, and you can't do a vmdisk more than 2 TB.

    Is there a way to bypass these limits?  Raw disk mapping allows large LUN?  Nobody knows when the limit of 2 TB Lun and vmdisks will change?

    Thank you!

    If your storage is iSCSI, you can use an initiator of software inside the virtual machine and use GPT disks more than 2 TB.

    If your storage is CF, you should use a dedicated HBA and VMDirectPath or try using NPIV (but I'm not sure that NPIV can use larger disks).

  • How to get only latest date and other columns in the table

    Hello
    Table

       id          name        date
      123        a             2/3/2010
      124        b            15/2/2010
      125        c             1/1/2010
      123        a             12/4/2010
      125        c             17/2/2010

    It's a table, id, name, date here is the composite key.
    I want to select id, name, and date so that date (e.g., 123 date 04/12/2010 be selected for the id) is selected for each id and each id and name should be selected once.
    So, what will be its application?
    Thank you
    select
       id,
       name,
       date
    from
    (
       select
          id,
          name,
          date,
          max(date) over (partition by id, name) as max_date
       from your_table
    )
    where date = max_date;

    Would do assuming you do not have duplicates (all 3 columns) in the table.

  • Firefox crashes (and other strange behaviors) due to gifs

    From a recent update Firefox displayed a strange behavior that surrounds the gifs. Sometimes, after viewing pages with a large number of gifs or several very large gifs, Firefox will do things like not animate gifs, or even do not load the images at all, an and will not stop until I have restart Firefox. What's more concerning is that sometimes in these situations, Firefox will simply hang and stop responding, forcing me to kill the process.
    This page shows the behavior of hanging fairly regularly: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1021843 & page = 21
    It seems more likely to happen when I scroll the page quickly. The behavior persists when I restart Firefox mode without failure.

    39 of Firefox seems to have solved the problem.

  • Date value, have a strange behavior

    Hi people, I am facing a strange situation in 11.2.0.3 EE 64 bit:

    SQL >! uname - a

    SunOS < hostname > 5.11 11.1 sun4v sparc sun4v

    SQL > np_dn_range desc;

    Name                                      Null?    Type

    ----------------------------------------- -------- ----------------------------

    DN_START NOT NULL VARCHAR2 (18 CHAR)

    ACTIVATION_DATE NOT NULL DATE

    SQL > select ACTIVATION_DATE from the np_dn_range where DN_START = 528717163931;

    ACTIVATION_DATE

    ----------------------

    54890110070000

    SQL > SELECT TO_CHAR (ACTIVATION_DATE, ' dd/mm / yyyy:hh24 - mi - ss') from np_dn_range where DN_START = 528717163931;

    TO_CHAR (ACTIVATION_

    ----------------------------

    00/00/0000:00-00-00

    This should not show as 10/01 / 5489:07:00:00? If I do the same with other values, it works fine:

    SQL > SELECT TO_CHAR (ACTIVATION_DATE, ' dd/mm / yyyy:hh24 - mi - ss') from np_dn_range where DN_START = 525549998051;

    TO_CHAR (ACTIVATION_

    -------------------

    02/07 / 2013:07 - 00-00

    07/06 / 2021:07 - 00-00

    Of course the 5489 year is strange, it's an unexpected value. This value is not strange really because of this behavior, also it does not show if I publish the following:

    SQL > select ACTIVATION_DATE from the np_dn_range where ACTIVATION_DATE > sysdate;

    Oracle can make errors with math? This line just seems to come from an import of a database that was corrupt, blocks which can be the cause of this strange behavior?

    Thank you.

    Yes it is strange.

    The first octet must be the century + 100, and the second byte must be 100 + year.

    Then... (in the order of the those first followed by bad)...

    120 113 is equivalent to 2013

    120 121 equals 2021

    46,11 equals (46-100) = - 54 and (11-100) =-89... and there is no year-54-89

    Just check the other bits...

    The 3rd octet is the month, if you have months of 7, 6 and 1... they are ok.

    The 4th byte is the day, if you have days 2, 7 and 10... they are ok

    The 5th byte is time + 1, so you have 8 for everyone, which means 07:00,... they are all ok

    The 6th byte is the minutes + 1, if you have 1 for all those, which is 0 minutes... they are ok

    Octet 7 seconds + 1, if you have 1 for everyone, i.e. 0 seconds... they are ok

    So in terms of months to the time you have:

    July 2 07:00

    June 7 07:00

    10 January 07:00

    These part of all date/times are ok, it's just the century and year who were corrupt.

    Now, if I force the same corrupted data in my version of the same table using my function of date gross and put my NLS_DATE_FORMAT the same as yours... I can reproduce your problem...

    SQL > insert into np_dn_range values ('2345 ', raw_date (chr (46) |)) Chr (11) | Chr (1) | Chr (10) | Chr (8) | Chr (1) | Chr (1)));

    1 line of creation.

    SQL > alter session set nls_date_format = 'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS ';

    Modified session.

    SQL > select * from np_dn_range;

    DN_START ACTIVATION_DAT
    ------------------ --------------
    2345 54890110070000

    SQL > select to_char (activation_date, "HH24:MI:SS DD/MM/YYYY) of np_dn_range;

    TO_CHAR (ACTIVATION_
    -------------------
    00/00/0000 00:00:00

    Your data are certainly corrupted, so everything you use to import or create these data is the problem.  It certainly isn't the way that Oracle is the treatment of the date, it's just the fact that corrupted data has been forced in.

  • Issues coming out of "sleep mode" and strange behavior when restarting with GPU

    I use a desktop computer HP P7-1240 completely stock except for a GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 750 TI SC. The GPU works well when the computer is running (which is strange because the forums have several other discussions mentioning the 700 series must be incompatible with my BIOS).

    However, there are two main strange problems that have arisen since the installation of the GPU. One is that, every time that the computer enters mode "sleep", he refuses to wake back up correctly. It seems to me that the computer active but sends all the signals back panel (at the very least, no video because my monitors remain blank). On rare occasions, he wakes back correctly, but at least 90% of the time, it must be restarted. Upon reboot, the same problem sometimes (not), and the computer must be rebooted a second time until it will start again.

    This leads to the second problem. During startup, the computer goes to a black screen, listing the specifications of basic computer skills (see attached photo. In this screen, the computer does not meet any entry.  He proceeds to beep 3 times, all the same length and height spaced about 30 seconds of gap. After the third beep, the screen goes black and then the computer starts normally with no other strange behavior.

    Without the GPU, none of these problems occur. At the very least, not regularly.

    I saw another thread mentioned that, while the HP support for my office page lists not her, there is an update of the BIOS for my motherboard which has fixed issues related to the GPU more modern. By nature it is an update of the BIOS that does not (seem to) officially support Windows 7, I am reluctant to go forward with this potential solution.

    Although I intend to build myself a new computer from scratch at a certain point, I was hoping to get at least another year out of this machine, if not 2.  While this question does not seem to be immediately threatening the stability of the computer, I can't help but think that it is a question should I go quickly to avoid future problems (not to mention it would save me a good amount of electricity to be able to enter the mode 'sleep' on a regular basis).

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Problem has been solved!

    For those of you who have trouble sleeping with the p7-1240 or computers with a card mother identical (MSI Jasmine Ms 7778 ver 1.0), I suggest that you follow this thread:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/unable-to-boot-with-new-graphics-card/TD-p/3930544/highlight/true

    It is to use an update for your BIOS that is intended only for PC under Windows 8, but that seems to work perfectly well with Windows 7 PC. It solved my problems of sleep and makes the computer to behave at least semi normally while restarting.

    However, as indicated in the wire, an update of the BIOS should be a last resort because it can turn your machine into a very heavy and expensive paperweight if something does not work. Do not forget that you have the worm 1.0 card mother MSI Ms 7778 Jasmine and remember that you update the BIOS version 8.18.

    As I am looking for 2aeo on HP.com currently (according to the thread leading up to), I'm not find the same links I found last week when I went through the update. However, you can find elsewhere.

    There is no indication that something went WRONG minidump, no discharges of any sort, sfc/scannow ran own just like chkdsk, memtest, tester of windows 7 and all other diagnostic tools.

    He did it before, but very rarely, so I thought nothing of it (which happened in the spans of the months apart) but now happened several times a day.

    Recent software additions:

    Installing the software and drivers Lexmark Prospect Pro205

    -Updated Nvidia graphics drivers Geforce 6150SE nForce 430 to 8.17.12.9573 and it's Helper service ver 295,73

    What I did to try to rectify the situation:

    -Scanned with each virus/malware free scan in existence - deleted an infected file from Java Java/CVE-2011-3544. O operate. And another unrelated to the advertising program.

    -Updated HP Assistant and Advisor

    -Updated several times with various updates for windows 7

    -Clean the case thought it was overheating, but nope - clean as a whistle, normal running time

    -Good fans checked

    -Extract from food - looked good, constant voltage

    I haven't checked the power extension cables. I heard there is a problem with shorting out on the 24-pin extensions, but I didn't have an extension of 24 pins on the power cables.

    I've heard others have had problems with HP stopping randomly with a strange behavior, so I wanted to see what you guys have to say.

    Could this be problems of power with my house? The wiring is old... Or more likely is a short circuit in the cable/PSU?

    How can I easily repair/test of this theory?

    -All right, so the system restore has nothing but destroy some files, because I couldn't not correctly backup the drive between the random stops.

    However, I found the solution to my problem, that you won't believe.

    Short answer: I replaced the stock HP keyboard (model KU-0841) who seems to have been short.

    The long answer:

    -When the computer kept shutting down even in safe mode after a destructive recovery, I started watching again material.

    -Noticed my typing would sometimes record, sometimes just go crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy (like this).

    -Then comes the keyboard no longer works. Thus, while the veto stops with WORD 2007 and using the keyboard on the screen in Win7, I thought it was a terrible virus - it wasn't.

    -When I unplugged the USB keyboard it's a strange electric 'bzz' sound, like what you hear when static is unloaded. It turns out that the USB port has been be short-circuited by the keyboard.

    On the keyboard and the USB plug was going well, so I don't know who is to blame again, however - if someone is having the same weird problems with events of the power of the nucleus and 1074 with 0x500ff errors-try to check your hardware.

    After replacing the keyboard, everything works perfectly.

  • Strange problem casting between the DATE and time STAMP

    Hello world

    I'm faced with a problem of strange casting between the DATE and time STAMP. Strange, because this happens in SQL-Developer and the Testdatabase, but not when called from inside SQL-Plus, even if all Session settings are set to the top completely equal.

    I work on the Oracle 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 Windows database and run the following script, taken from SQL-Developer script output:

    < pre >
    create table ts_test)
    time/date stamp,
    stamp_copy timestamp)
    table TS_TEST standing.

    create or replace view vw_test as
    Select cast (date stamp) buffer,
    Cast (stamp_copy as date) stamp_copy
    of ts_test
    view VW_TEST standing.

    insert into ts_test
    Select systimestamp, the double null
    1 eingefugt Zeilen.

    Commit
    festgeschrieben.

    create or replace trigger trg_ts_test_iu
    instead of update on vw_test
    Start
    Update ts_test
    Set stamp_copy =: new.stamp_copy;
    end;
    RELAXATION trg_ts_test_iu kompiliert

    Update vw_test
    Set stamp_copy = stamp
    1 Zeilen written on.

    Select the stamp, stamp_copy, dump (stamp_copy)
    of ts_test

    Look at the strange data that stamp_copy was after the update.

    When run from SQL over, everything is fine. But when I run this code in our application, the same phenomenon occurs. I've even seen a data dating back to the year 11907 (!), giving an exception by selecting from the table.

    Someone at - it an idea on how to work around this bug?

    Best regards

    Jürgen

  • Strange behavior of PE10 do not ask for disks 2 and 3.

    My computer complies with the system requirements and I have a brand new PE10 "closed". The box has three discs. I installed disc1 and serial number and told me not to install the other two disks. Installation was surprisingly closed. There is a shortcut on the desktop PE10 and PE10 is located in the Program Files folder. I can open PE10 with the shortcut on the desktop and everything seems to be there.

    I felt very uncomfortable so I uninstalled disc1 and reinstalled with the same results. I used PE4 for many years, so I'm used to Adobe Photoshop Elements. I have dozens of files in MY PICTURES, I want to implement PE10 but I didn't in case something is wrong.

    Can someone explain why, I was told not to install dics 2 and 3?  Are they necessary?
