Strange my Equium A60 new specification

Hello
I hope someone can explain to me if the Ram on my new machine works well or if a part of the module is defective.
The machine, that I bought was supposed to have 256 MB of Ram, but when I look in:
My computer
Properties
System Properties
It shows only 192 Ram, it's short by 64 Ram.

He also says in system CPU properties: Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.06 GHZ 3.07 GHZ
Here are two CPU?

Confused by the present, I went to Device Manager and looked at the details for the CPU and Act, there are two entries:
Processor Mobile Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 GHZ (ID: family 15_model_3\_1)
and
Mobile processor (Intel (R) Pentium 4 CPU 3.06 GHZ (ID: family 15_model_3\_0))

This is my first laptop, my old PC was an old P3 933 mhz with 128 Ram and I have never seen specs. as the one showing on this laptop.

My apologies if my question seems stupid, but is this short Ram machine? and it has two processors?

I am grateful for all the answers.

Confused Newbie :)

Hello
the 'missing' 64 MB of ram is reserved for your videocard ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP. This in a normal number for the memory on the video card shared whit like yours.

About your cpu, you have only one: Mobile-Intel-Pentium 4 3.06 GHz. The second number is actually or cpu speed (3.07 is presumably indeed 3.06) based on your power management settings. Try to work only with the battery, and you'll get some other speed instead the 3.07

  • Equium A60-155, don't 'sees' new HARD drive

I have an old Equium A60-155, P5A67E and tried to install a new drive hard - one Samsung 120 GB, 5400 RPM IDE.
However the BIOS (ver 1.90) is not 'see' and has no auto-detection option I see either - in fact it has very few options for anyone!

The existing drive (original) is a Fujitsu 40 GB IDE.

The 120 GB should be not OK, below the barrier of 128 Gb? - but would be using a suitable HARD drive utility (-Samsung offers a version of OnTrack) to make the drive HARD smaller 'look' for the Bios, be any help anyway? Is that the new drive faulty? Any other ideas?

    Any help is appreciated!

I agree with you and think that 120 GB should be recognized correctly. It is not easy to say what the problem is here. BIOPS value default settings and check again. If the same problem persists, try using a different HDD with 80 or 100 GB to see if any of them will be recognized correctly.

Problem is that you have limited options with all this and that he cannot do much. Either it is admitted or not.

The recovery disc can t be downloaded.

  • Equium A60: Need new LCD

    Hello world

    There, someone can help me.
I have a laptop Equium A60 and my daughter broke the LCD screen.

Does anyone know where I can get a new l15"cover or the LCD screen and about how much it costs?

    Thank you

    Hello

Each part can be ordered from the ASP in your country. But be aware that a new LCD costs a small fortune.
The LCD screen and the motherboard are the more expensive laptop parts. I think that you have spent about $ 300 for a new game.

Then maybe a second hand LCD might be a better solution.

  • Re: Equium A60 PSA67E - can't burn new disks

I'm losing the will to live now. Could someone help me please.
    I have a 2004 Equium A60 PSA67E-00400C8J.
It reads and writes on DVD RAM RW and DVD ROM and CD RW that have pre files written on them.
But, I can't get to see a new brand.

I place several brands in the draw, closed and it works ok until you get auto white screen as you might indicate the contents of the file, but when I try and 'drag and drop' for her, he said: "there is an unknown problem and files of continue to fly in the air for always (10. (, 15, 20 minutes) until I get advice and "Cancel". Nothing is transferred at all. In desperation, I look at 'properties' for the drive and blue on the slice of cake, telling me the disk is full.
Each new disc! several brands! all the same. I'm close to throwing out the window.

Please please experts with suggestions would be welcome. I'll try anything.
I know much too little for this and all officially released I've read seems to be written for a much longer young and sends me off the coast in total confusion. It took me an hour to reach this post on this forum, but I'll try.

Please take pitty and talk in terms of Janet and John if you offer tests or responses.

Thank you very much in anticipation

If I understand your question, your CD/DVD drive cannot burn new disks.
    Is this good?

What discs can not be burned? Are these discs copy protected?
Have you tried different burning software?

I use Nero and I think it s better combustion of the program.
    Recommend to use.

  • Can not start my new Equium A60

My mom and dad bought me a new Toshiba Equium a60 I recorded the Toshiba laptop and downloaded the update of the bios 1.9 zip as stated in my profile, form that it was compatible, but when I ran the probs have now started the habit of my laptop lights it seems dead all power (cables battery & power everything up).

I'm really freaked out because I put t know what s that went wrong. They spent a lot of money and has invested a lot of time to have hooked me up to a wireless connection I feel terrible that someone can help me THEEZE

    Hello

I really the don t understand why you do BIOS update with the new unit. This path is not easy to say how the problem can be, but if you turned off the camera, while the BIOS update it can be this motherboard is faulty now.

Please, remove the battery and connect the unit to the power running. If all goes well is the LED for power there. Try to start the device. If there is no reaction you must take it to the service partner.

  • Need a new mothherboard for Equium A60

I tried suggestion given in the forum but I am always sick, I think I need a new mothherboard for Equium A60, I searched on the Toshiba site but tere does'nt seem to be links or place where it is said you can buy a home, HELP!

As much as I know, that you cannot order parts for laptop direct from Toshiba.

You can do this in some independent electronic store, perhaps by approved maintainer Toshiba or on eBay. I recommend you check out eBay. Here you can find many hardware components for various Toshiba laptops.
With a little luck you can find mainboard for your model of laptop also.

    Check it out.

  • Failed to start after installing the new memory module Equium A60

I have an Equium A60 laptop with the following specs:
    P4 3.06 GHz
256 MB Ram (including 64 MB ATI graphics card)
    30 GB HD
    Windows XP Home Edition

The problem is the following; I bought a bar of memory in order to update my system. I bought a Kingston SO-dimm pc2100 512 MB. After installation of the memory of the laptop wouldn't start, after about 5 seconds after having turned it on, it turns off completely.

If I remove the memory it starts up fine. I had tested memory and its ok so there seems to be a problem with the laptop itself. I'm confused, so if anyone has an idea of what might cause boot failure, I would be happy to know.

    Thank you very much...

As far as I know the main reason for the failure of start is the use of non compatible modules.

According to the specifications of the laptop, you must use PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51). If you want to buy the module Kingston (products of very good quality) check it please the Kingston MEMORY SEARCH

  • Equium A60-157: Question about maximum size of HARD drive

    Hello

Looking to upgrade my Pentium 4 3.06GHz Equium A60-157 a bit then got a new module of 1024 MB of RAM, but now really to upgrade my 40 gb HDD to go with. I found all the specifications of the type of HARD drive, I need, but may not know what the maximum size of the disk, it is that the BIOS will recognize. I don't think that I've never updated by the BIOS and I'm looking to get a 120 GB drive. Any ideas please?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Alex,

Most portable smanufactured in the last 5 years or so are able to accept larger hard drive capacity without problem. I am currently using a 80 GB drive in an old SA30 of three years. I can't guarantee a 120 GB drive will work, but I see no reason why it wouldn't.

    Kind regards

  • My opinion on the Toshiba Equium A60-155

I've had an Equium A60 - 155 during almost a year now and I'm quite impressed by it. For £730 I paid for it, not worth it.

I had to increase the ram with another stick 512 for another £60 as the laptop does not work even with the standard 192. By that, I mean system breaks down, abnormal system responses, spontaneous reboots, system files/missing features, anti-virus program, just basically a machine unreliable, unusable failures.

I will say that now the extra ram is installed, the software is more stable and most previous problems disappeared. But Toshiba is expected to have delivered it with 512 MB in the first place!

And the battery on this is terrible! There is barely even a laptop! On a good day with battery all the saving settings on max I get about 50 minutes of it--and Yes, a year ago, when it was new, it would last together 30 more minutes at about 1:20. At the point where the thing was started in Windows and you install to work, it is for food then you might as well forget about asking him and always run from the network.

How Toshiba charge that kind of money for a laptop that has this kind of performance? There is nothing on the laptop that can justify this money... the graphics card? Average. The processor? Celeron - enough said. The motherboard? Standard. The battery life? Laughable. The DVD burner? A bonus, but not worth the extra money. The size? Large.

Just that there is more that I could do about it I wish and Toshiba could be made aware of the misery that they have caused me (and probably many others) during this 'portable '.

    * Note to the mods - please do not remove this post once again. Why do you feel the need to remove it anyway? Send me an email.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you shouldn't really complain if you had bothered to check the specifications before you buy. Regarding the system crash that you can't just blame Toshiba is much poorly written drivers in XP bugs bugs in the BIOS firmware. Make sure you have XP installed with all the latest service packs for updates also updates BIOS (there has been 3 since I bought my A60-181) and if you want to try a different operating system to install Linux or use a distribution like Knoppix bootable CD.
The battery life on laptops are poor, in general, I have seen some rival brands that quoted 1.5 hours but that the technology for you and having a processor Celeron doesn t s helped no more. That said that 50 minutes seems short for load complete so I recommend to contact Toshiba and see if they replace.
The Admin of this forum is probably done only by ensuring that all messages on this forum to help are useful asking the nature. Making negative comments about products Toshiba on a Toshiba forum isn't clever but if you have a problem, then ask for help instead.

    see you soon,

  • Problem loading on Equium A60-157

I have an Equium A60 who until recently worked perfectly. The battery was empty until it stops. Now the battery will not charge when the AC lead is plugged in. Amber led on front stays THERE no matter how long he remains connected.

The indicator of battery level in the Control Panel, power options, tab said power meter battery is at 0%, critical and in charge, but does not load. I tried to charge it for more than 24 hours with laptop on and even turned off but nothing. I can't understand what causes this problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

    It s very strange however.
I see only two possibilities of malfunction.
The battery is dead and you need a new or motherboard failure there.
But in my opinion it s battery failure

Check if the new battery will solve your problem of load.

  • Equium A60-692: Texas controller ieee 1394 host controller starts is not getting started

I had unfortunately no response about the foregoing. I have Equium A60-692 and installed the new copy of XP.

Before that, I inherited machine with power stuck on the password. Former owner had left standing for several months and said this seems to cause this not tentatives not this setting. I managed to use a rider based on the to remove, but now I think it was a symptom of more serious problems (but maybe I did something BIOS?)

The controller seems to be when the machine is hot (strange). Fact that average anomaly map mother re ccomponent ventilation cold?

Any help here, because I have tried everything I can.

Have you set the BIOS to default settings?

Hmmm... What about the question of hot/cold? I imagine that certain welded components can lose connectivity when the laptop is cold.
In my opinion, you should install driver chipset when possible. Subsequently disable device firewire in Device Manager. I mean that this port is probably not so important to you. Isn t it?

  • Drive recovery for Equium A60-157 PSA67E

Has anyone got a copy of the disc recovery issued with an equium A60-157 PSA67E as I am trying to get this laptop for work and unable to get its hotkeys control and be able to work.

I think I've worn out my wellcome with Equium forum and technical appeal but it's somewhere I myself lack of understanding on this subject.

I loaded all recent downloads listed on their site, but always impossible to get these functions to work.

So can you help me please...

    Hello

Why you n t install a new Windows OS on this laptop?
Missing drivers can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.
    All drivers are available!

The recovery disc can be ordered for this model of laptop because it s too old.
Clean install OS Win + drivers is therefore the only option

  • System failure-Equium A60 won't boot to the top

    I have a toshiba laptop
    "equium a60 model PSA67E-No.-00200D8J.

Ive had problems with my start up! I get an error message saying: I have a missing driver!

    Also get message...

"windows was not start because the following file is missing or damaged:

Unfortunately I can't find my original CD boot disk & I don't want to lose the files saved... not too good sense when it comes to problems with this...

If anyone can give some advice please, it drives me crazy! Laughing out loud

    Alan.

    Heyho,

looks like you're in big trouble. I think the only chance to backup your files is to get some linux live CD (knoppix, ubuntu and mandrake) and an external hard drive to copy the files to your hard drive internal to external hard drive attached.

The best way would be to ask a technician or a guy who is VERY familiar with computers to backup your data.

After that you need to reinstall your operating system but without the recovery CD, you are out of luck. Then you don't have a lot of options.
One of these options is to look for startup disk or how to call it: "restore CD". If it is not available you should contact an authorized local dealer servicepartner toshiba and get a new recovery disk. The last option is to buy a Windows XP or to ask someone (family, friends, the one who) for a Windows XP to install.
