Strange white line on screen Equium A60

Does anyone know why a strange white vertical line appeared on my screen A60? We off fragmented, a virus scan and a cleaning disc then the line appeared about an hour after.

That this has something to do with it? Should I install the product recovery disc? We did this a few months back, re - install too often cause damage? The line is present as soon as the screen lights up, i.e. Toshiba start screen.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello

first of all, no, system reinstallation will not damage anything.

As you say the line appears directly after start-up the machine, the problem must be hardware related.
Check if the problem is also on an external monitor.
If not, the LCD is faulty.
If so, the problem may be the graphics chip.

Anyway, you cannot do anything alone, in order to take the laptop to a service provider.

Good bye

  • White with vertical lines colored on Equium A60

    Hello

I'm new on this but really need your help. My laptop is around the age of 18 months and has always worked well. Last week, I plugged modem broadband via Ethernet cable and configure the broadband services. A few minutes after doing this, when I looked back to the screen, he went all white with vertical lines colored it. I rebooted the machine etc and that's all I ever get now. As soon as I turn on, it will just right to white with these colored vertical lines.

I tried to connect an external monitor to it and that works very well. The laptop is a Toshiba Equium A60. I'm worried that the screen is burned, it is possible for a power surge or something like that to go down the Ethernet cable and the screen shot?

    Thank you

    Adrian

Display features has nothing to do with the Ethernet cable. Test with external monitor is very good, and on this way, you can see if the graphics card is perhaps responsible for that.

From your description, I think that the view is the problem. Of course, just intensive display test can give more answers.

  • Satellite L300D-20R - horizontal white line on screen

Switched my laptop this morning and the display is simmering and seems to have a shadow. The top 2 inches is OK; under the tent of 2 inches, there is a horizontal white line about 1/16 "thick. below this line, the screen is simmering, appears dark and foggy.

What can I do to fix this?

That's better than you can do. I assume that the display is faulty somehow.

  • Swapping screens: Equium A60-181 > Equium A60-199

    Hello

I'm trying to fix a laptop Equium EA60-199 with a LCD of bust. (Just to save it from the landfill because it works fine also.)
I found and bought an Equium screen on eBay (the whole "cover", not just the bit in the middle), which apparently came from a model of EA60-181.
It looked pretty similar to mine and is also 15 "so I thought I'd be a chance and it was worth risking it.

When I received it today I started taking the lid broke my 199 (off the keyboard and by unscrewing the hinges) - there are two points where the screen connects the main unit: a white rectangular plug caps on a Board and a separate black wire that connects to another point is close (what is Earth?).
However, the replacement of 181 I've got, is there an extra couple of wires (one black and one white) coming out of the lower part of the screen of the hinge.
Does anyone know what that here are to - probably they are included in the big white plug on the 199 and 181 screen would not work unless they were connected?

I'm starting to think that maybe a better option is to take the LCD screen on the cover and exchange the most (using one of the howtos I found on the internet) as I assume the connections to this end are pretty standard. However, I'm not very experienced messing around inside computers for all the tips are welcome!
Really nothing to lose the computer's been written off by its owner in any case - just thought it would be nice to rehabilitate if possible!

Thanks a lot for your help.
    Tom

HM, that only black and white cable sounds like a wireless antenna. To check if this is the case, you should check if on the end of this one thread an orange (or something like) a square is delivered which is then an antenna and should be all over the top of the lcd housing.

If you're lucky, make a picture about it, place it somewhere on a free imagehoster and post the link here, then maybe I can tell you with certainty what could be exactly the wire.

    See you soon

  • Vertical lines on screen - Equium A100

In the past two weeks a vertical line has been appearing every now and then towards the end of the right side of the screen (from top to bottom) on my A100-147 and I'm a little concerned as to why this is.

Can someone help and tell me what the problem is please?

It s not dull if there line horizontal or vertical s.
Fact is that this show is displayed if there is a hardware problem.

    How to find what's wrong?

You could connect the second external monitor to the laptop and could check whether the same appears on the external monitor.
If yes then-> I assume that it s a GPU malfunction
If not-> then the screen itself could be faulty

In both cases, the replacement is necessary and could be costly!

I don t think that these lines are a common thing on Toshiba laptops.
This problem occurs after full load of Windows?
Have you seen these lines on other applications?

  • Satellite M30-853 - vertical white lines or black spots on the screen

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M30 - 853 during nearly four years. A few days already, I'm having a problem that they come from the white lines vertical or black spots or screen is smear when I am trying to move a window from time to time. My wireless adapter is in use.

The vicinity of processor, video card and wireless network card are very hot. My cooling fan is starting and stopping, but I'm not sure of its effectiveness.

I disassembled the laptop to clean it if there is little to dust, but I found it in very good condition. Anyway, the problem persists and I am looking for decision. Someone told me that probably that's because of the defective video card memory. It's strange to me because the problem is not permanent it is often and if I try to cool the surface it disappears.

    I'd appreciate any suggestions.

In my opinion, these issues must be verified correctly. This can be done using different diagnostic tools. It is important to know what the problem cases.
Of course, it has something to do with the temperature of material and graphics card. Sorry but I'm really skeptical, you can do something alone. Maybe you should seek professional help.

Is perhaps the way to the graphics card puts the basic settings again?

P.S. I'm sorry for my English Polish. I hope that you understand everything.
I put here a few printscreen of the white lines if it helps.

    My system configuration:
    Windows XP service pack 2

    Hi Szymon

First, your English is great and I can understand everything ;)
    Back to the question;

I don t want to publish any terrible suggestion, but for me, the question looks really bad
From my experience, these lines are linked to a faulty graphics card chip :(
and this could be the worst case because the graphics chip is fixed on the mobo, and in most cases, the motherboard should be replaced.

But listen, man, very easily, you can check if the problem was caused by a faulty graphics card. If the white lines will be displayed again, and then connect the external monitor to the laptop and check if the same lines will appear on the second screen.
If Yes, then it s a bad GPU work.

    Welcome them

  • Equium A60-191: number of Modem - only an analog phone lines are supported

My Equium A60 has been turned on when lightning struck nearby and caused the power supply turn off and turn back on.

The OS is XP Home and my ISP is AOL. When I try to access the Net with DUN, I get the repeated error message:

"Connected phone line is not compatible with this modem. Only analog phone lines are supported. »

My desktop computer, which also uses AOL, always connects to the same phone line with no problems.

I restarted the A60 several times; changed and I tried the 2 phone connection cables - both work; the phone line works very well; I reinstalled the driver provided on this site; removed the tick from the box that says to wait for the telephone line; verified that the modem is working and on the Device Manager list. All this is in vain.

Convenience store suggests that COM 3 is not enabled. I don't see that com 3 listed in the device under Ports Manager.

I tried Google and ASK with the error message. There is not a lot of posts, and it seems that the Toshiba modem is actually an Agere. This fact seems to be the object of some of the complaints.

Finally, I uninstalled the driver/modem, AOL and another DUN connection. I restarted and went through the process of installing AOL and "new hardware". While the modem is on and allegedly working... I am still unable to connect to the Net. I reinstalled an additional 'pay as you go' ISP. When I try to dial a number on which it generates error 680. It does this even when the box is unchecked, to wait for a dial tone.

I would be very grateful if someone could help it. I'm out of ideas.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

You are right, the modem supports the Modem Agere chip.
You won't find the COM3 in the Device Manager for the modem uses a non-real com port. It s virtual com port.

I think you should start the diagnostic tool test and check if the Modem has no malfunction.
Additional you must remove the connection in the region Select utility and after restarting again create a new.

I also found useful Microsoft article on troubleshooting network and dial-up connections.

  • Using the mic in as an Audio on the P4 Equium A60 - 156 532 line

    Hello

I was wondering if I can change the microphone on my Equium A60-156 P4 532 port to operate like an Audio Line In , as I want to use Avermedia AVerTV-U2 USB2 to convert my video tapes on DVD. However the Avermedia AVerTV - U2 USB2 requires an Audio Line In on the sound card. The suppliers of the Avermedia AVerTV - U2 USB2 recommended a reg file.

Anyone know if it will work or have alternative ideas on how I can convert my video tapes on DVD?

    Hello
The point is that the Microphone in your laptop sector works with a preamplifier.
He could only kill you this Port, if the input signal is powerful.
    Be careful!

    Hello

My white horizontal computer screen line recently appeared across the screen. Computer works normal, but I don't know how to solve this problem?
    What could be the reason?

I'm afraid it's because of the defective m display.
You can connect your laptop to an external display to see if the same thing will happen. If this isn't the case, it is the best evidence for my theory.

  • Equium A60 - blue screen at startup

Hi... problem with Equium A60. Running on Windows XP SP2, when I start the computer I see the windows xp logo and then all of a sudden it is blue screen and try to restart. What could be wrong? Any sugessions...

    Thank you

Try to start in safe mode. To do this turn on the unit and start pressing F8 immediately, in the advanced options menu, select Safe mode. Log on as administrator. When safe mode has loaded right click on my computer-properties online-online advanced settings-online Startup Recovery & -online the system failure => to uncheck the box that says automatically restart => click OK.

Then stop and restart normally. Now when it bluescreens, you should be able to see the complete error message. You can have a STOP error with a lot of 0s in it. Write it down. Type the STOP in the Google code or support.microsoft.com and see what happens or post it back here, chances are that in this regard, there is a knockout. unless it's a hardware problem.

In my opinion, this kind of problem has thousands of PC users with all kinds of laptops and desktop PCs. really nothing exceptional and there is no reason that a why this happens.

If now everything is Ok I see no reason to talk about this. Once again, if the same thing happen please report only and maybe we can discuss your problem.
