Studio 1558 fan problem

Hello everyone,

Just got my brand new studio 15 Friday, turned on after about 15 minutes of light surf the system overheated, rebooted and everything worked well. Dell said that it is a known problem with no fix. This happens about once a day. Contacted dell technical support they have updated the bios and said that could solve the problem. Long story short, he doesn't. Technical support is suppost to call me back today for a system exchange, my question is what kind of system I get, I paid almost $1300 for my current system, I had less then a week and I will not accept a system exchange if they'll send me an inspirion $ 500 system. So are they going to send me something comparable to what I bought, or I just need to opt for a refund and try a different system?

It is a problem with the BIOS. Connect to the live chat to dell support and they will update your bios to A04 for you or I can send you the update by e-mail. The update seems to have solved my problem of stop/fan. Computer has been running for 3 hours now with no stops

    Hello dell.

I wonder how many people got prob with studio dell 1558, just google and found most of them (all) having prolem with the dell studio 1558 fan noise.

    What happens in my case:

The fan noise was ok before a few weeks ago, and he started 2-3 weeks back. aaftre fans of 20-30 sec noise suddenly and during idle sound Inc. is not normal/quiet a bit different than usual.

The fan noise is really annoying and it constantly happens not even a minute, it stops.

So in my case I think that it may be hardware fan prob because I wasn't this prob when I bought this system may be fan is going to jam in a near future?

    It's my system config:

    Studio 1558:

    : Processor Core i3 M350 2.27 Ghz processor

    RAM: 4 GB

Gfx card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

    HARD DRIVE: 500 GB

    Backlit keyboard

    Slot load CD/DVD player

P.S.: My CD/DVD drive and HARD drive recently prob SO dell replaced both.

    Thank you

Today engineer came to my house and the replacced he fan + heatsink. Thermal paste is already on it I guess, it has not applied separately.

    Fan runs smoothly.

Failure: in fact the outer part of the radiator is responsible for this when the engineer came out the part and he hit an outside party who is also visible (Manager) of air is broken.

It was broken when an engineer trying to clean the fan lol.

I've also attached the image of the broken part. Image is not good but always visible

  • Studio 1558 light problems

I recently did a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit).  My computer does not turn off.  The controls did not work initially (F4/F5 would bring the brightness down a notch, but that's all).  I updated the BIOS to 12 and then work the controls F4/F5, but the brightness of the screen does not change.  I can't dim my monitor at all and it is draining the battery.  I have selected 'power saver' and even when I disconnect the a/c adapter the monitor is still on max brightness.  Any suggestions?  Thank you very much.

    Lutzow10,

Welcome to the community.  When did you notice first of all what is happening?  It was after a reinstall of Windows.

When reinstalling Windows, there is an order that the drivers must be installed.  If you have not installed the following drivers please do.

    Chipset

    Dell Notebook System Software

    Video drivers

    Intel HD

    AMD Mobility Radeon graphic card

    Quick setting button

Please let me know if this helps out.

  • Problem w DVD Eject on Studio 1558 after upgrade Win10

I have a Studio 1558 that I upgraded to win 10 of Win 7.  (Now I see that this machine never has been tested for Win10... sigh)   I put a DVD in the machine last night to watch a video educational and found that I can't eject the media.  The key on the keyboard does nothing when you press.  Strangely, the DVD has no autorun and it took me some time to discover the new Windows player.  Anyone has any ideas on how to get my DVD out of the short a machine physically dismantling of the device?

Thank you very much.  I forgot that one!

  • Dell Studio 1558 - overheating

I bought a Dell Studio 1558 in 2010 but in the last month or two, I noticed that it started to overheat, but I thought it was all just as I placed it on my lap/couch and not a cold hard surface. But fan seems not to move at all so I suspect that this is causing overheating, recently it also stops at random after about an hour so I guess it would be once again be overheating.

My warranty expired in February so I'm a bit stuck as to what I can do, has any that had a similar problem and managed to resolve it?

    Thank you

First thing to do is to check that the fan is running - run a diagnosis (F12 at startup).

If you have used the system on your lap or on the furniture upholstered in a given period, the radiator is probably blocked by lint.  It would be the next thing to check (and clean accordingly).

  • Audio laptop does not not for Dell studio 1558

    Hello

I have the Dell studio 1558. It was working fine but now I have problems with the audio. No Audio is not heard from struggling speaker or headset. I tried to reinstall the driver IDT, but it isn't either installation. Help, please.

Hello. I apologize for the delay in answering your question.

Had tried and failed to install the Creative Labs software? A failure will cause the audio to fail.

If not this, then it could be faulty hardware. Run the audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests if you still have this tool on your hard disk. If you do not hear the sound during tests of the hardware on the motherboard failed. In this case, you can get a Jack audio usb to use it as a workaround.

If you no longer have the 32-bit Dell hard disk Diagnostics, you can download it from the Studio 1558 support page (under Diagnostics) and run it on a dvd or usb flash drive... See the instructions here for the Assembly of the diagnostics on a dvd or a flash drive.

The alternative to audio Dell 32-bit diagnostic tests run is to perform a complete System Recovery. If the audio does not immediately after a restart then the hardware has failed.

  • Studio 1558 is not lit

With battery or without, with cord or without cord has changed to one I know works.  Meter tester of battery watch battery is fully charged (all 5 light lights).  Nothing not happens when I press the power button / stop.  When I plug in the charger, white light turns on for a second and then turns off.  I don't remember if this is what he does when the battery is completely charged.  The laptop is two years old this month.  Of course it is more under warranty.  Another thing lately - don't know if this is related or not - date and time system were wrong when I was able to use the computer.

    Thank you

I had the same problem with Studio 1558 my daughter, after 2 years 2 months. I replaced the battery button as someone suggested, but nothing has changed. My symptom was that I insert the power adapter cable into the laptop and the battery light would be on for about 1 second and then turn off - probably because the battery is fully charged. I was able to check the status of the battery by pressing the button on the battery - all 5 lights shone indicating a full charge.

His laptop has a bright keyboard that clued me in what was the problem. I noticed that two hindges to the monitor have been split on the round part, so I was wondering if there was something lost or wrong with the connection of the power button. Slowly, I moved the monitor down by holding down the power button in and noticed the keyboard flashes on briefly. I tried to find this place where the keyboard is illuminated. Once I did, the computer started.

In general, so there's a lose connection which causes the power button is not being recognized. Once we find the sweet spot, the button works and it starts and keeps the computer running any position the monitor is in. So, it seems to only affect the use of the power button and as soon as it runs, things are fine. I don't know if I'll take it apart and see if I can make it lose the connection. Maybe I'll do that once it dies for good.

She said that the cracks appear after the 1st year, and the problem just started to happen to a few words on the mark 2 years. I would say it's kind of a low point with this laptop - poor craftsmanship. I have several Dell laptops for work I used for 4 or 5 years (some are Latitude 830). I traveled all over the world with one for 5 years - it took a beating, has a cracked case, a hole in a corner when I dropped it, but it still works very well. So I suspect this problem with my daughters Studio 1558 is a faulty design in this computer - not necessarily all Dell.

My company has since past to Lenovo for a reason any. These computers seem to be well and I traveled with them. Not sure about durability yet. I hate just where they put the key function - not standard compared to everyone else in the world. Extremely frustrating for someone who works with Lenovo and other brands at the same time. If I only used Lenovo I guess I should get used to, but it drives me crazy!

Hope that helps some of you... good luck!

  • Error 90 b - cooling fan problem

    Hello

A few days ago I started getting message, with a cooling fan problem, error 90 b

But this error was only occurring when I started my laptop after 5-6 hours

I mean when I started this morning, at the first moment it showed this error, and when it will stop automatically (it says, ENTER to continue starting or it will stop in 10 or 15 seconds) and then I start it again, but this time, no error started end

So guyz, I wanted to know whether hardware or software problem or something else

Still my warranty period which goes, so should I goto HP support center?

    I'm on HP Pavilion dv6

It is material but may be repairable before you send it. Bend over a paperclip and stick it through the grid to hold the fan and prevent it from running out of control and blow compressed air in the grid to dislodge any dirt or dust that can be hung up the fan. If it does not the fan may need to be replaced.

  • HP laptop Pavilion 17-e040us - Possible fan problem

Hi all.  I think I have a fan problem.  The fan seems to run all the time... at least for the past 3 or raining days, but not fort, with air alternating hot and cold, of the events.  I looked at the events surrounding the outside of the computer and it does not seem to show the accumulation of dust... but even with appropriate glasses, I'm not able to see if there is dust or not... is old or in my case being old causes sight problems!  I also used the diagnostic software to see if any hardware has failed.  The results showed that the computer hardware is correct.

Then you clean the vents (the article says that it is acceptable to use a hair dryer)?  In addition, open the back cover of the laptop to clean the fan inside if it has dust?

Article also says to turn off the computer and unplug the power adapter before spraying compressed air.  Also if you use a blow dryer on the cool setting?  If so, what is the power adapter and how to disconnect it?

Right now I am using the wired option.  I just need to remove the power cord at the back of the router to disconnect.  However, then the computer is wireless... How to turn off the wireless feature... so I can clean the fan/vents?

Thank you.  I really don't miss my XP version!

By blowing air through the vents of your laptop, you are forcing air through the fan. In a laptop, this remove most of the dirt and allow for better air circulation and cooling. This isn't the case with a desktop computer and that's why the video demostates office clean the fan.

I suggest removing the battery is because with it in place, you can accidentally turn on the computer. With the sector/charger adapter unplugged and the battery removed, there is no chance of the computer starts.

The maximum capacity is 4 GB per slot. Therefore, 4 GB * 2 would work.

  • Dell Studio 1558 WWAN module?

Hi all, my Studio 1558 has no WWAN module and I tried to find a list of compatible modules without success, perhaps because I am new to this site. I saw a module "5540" advertised as being compatible and I wanted to know if this is correct? Also I have seen other modules such as "5560" - these are incompatible or the larger number indicates more high power/new model or something else?

  • HP Pavilion dv9550eo (clicking sound) fan problem

Two months ago I have vaccumed the fan, but don't forget to keep the fan. If the fan has got a very high SPEED while I vaccumed. When I started my PC after that the fan suddenly begins to make a "rattling noise" and the RPM is extremely high. I used my computer to much a game earlier, and rpm and noise were never like that. What can be the problem? Is the bearings in the fan broken? How can I fix?

Can I buy a new fan or the need of a whole new radiator? The partnumber anyone so I can order a new part?

    Just the fan. http://www.eBay.com/ITM/170875020953

Check fan game gently pulling back & comes on a slide with a pair of tweezers, bearing fan problem typical sounds as do many on HP laptops.

Download the service manual for help on band & connection & use a good thermal paste like Artic ceramique2 because it makes a difference & lasts much longer than the cheap pasta...

  • MEMORY OF STUDIO 1558 DELL PP39L

Hello! I would like to know how I can upgrade memory Studio 1558? My laptop is 4 gigabytes of memory ram (2 x 2 giga). I have 16 gigabytes of ram upgrade.

    Thank you

    Max is 2 X 4 or 8 G - system will not treat 16G.

You MUST have a 64-bit operating system to use more 4 g - one - this may or may not have shipped with Windows 64-bit.  If it does not, you will need to install a new OS in addition to RAM.
