Style of numbering and Center paragraph alignment

Hi all

I try to understand what I am doing wrong:
I have a paragraph with a numbered style (see figure below (auto numbering)) from the list and the text isn't exactly in the horizontal middle.

as a comparison I put a text normal box (see the above figure(textbox)) and here the text is exactly in the middle of the horizontal

How can I have a numbered list that is central in a text box? And do you have someone at - he encountered the same problem and found a solution?

Thanks in advance

Wim

Good eyes. I have not a why, but I agree that there is a difference of balance between an automatic numbering and one type manually. I played with the withdrawal of first line, and in my case, by assigning the value 0p2.5 the difference and presented as I moved from 1 to 2 and even 3 numbers. (This number may vary for you of course, depending on the font and size).

I think that this is the workaround.

  • Using paragraph styles with numbered lists having paragraphs "child."

    Hi all

    I wanted just a checking the direction of your InDesign experts.

    When I create a numbered list when there are paragraphs separate 'child' who "belong" to the paragraph numbered list real (see below) how do I use paragraph styles for formatting the list?

    Currently I apply a style numbered list to each of the bold numbered paragraphs and just a style of body text indented paragraphs of the child. Is this fair?

    3.1 it is a topic but also a part of a numbered list

    This is the text that goes with the above heading

    This is another paragraph which goes hand in hand with the above heading

    3.2 it comes is a topic, but also part of a numbered list

    This is the text that goes with the above heading

    This is another paragraph which goes hand in hand with the above heading

    3.2 it is a topic but as part of a list numbered

    This is the text that goes with the above heading

    This is another paragraph which goes hand in hand with the above heading

    Also, is there a power automatically apply a style to the last bullet in a list (as with the last CSS child selector) so that I can have a small space after each of my balls except the last one where I would want a larger space.

    Is this fair? Yes. And if you want the style of paragraph number somehow, each model numbered to give his name to the list.

    The styles will be applied by you. To get the last point in space after, add this attribute to its own paragraph style, perhaps also giving it a keep with previous keep option.

    Or give more simple, perhaps the paragraph numbered line style certain amount of space before as one of its attributes under withdrawal and spacing.

  • Problem with styles of framework and the paragraph of text

    I have a book with a number of documents in it. In one of the documents, there is a problem with blocks of text and paragraph styles. When I create a new text frame, text in it and apply a paragraph style, the style does not apply correctly. Elements of applied and others do not. For example, bullets and numbered lists apply but italic, and font size are not. It only happens with new blocks of text, and the oldest work very well.

    This does not happen in other documents, just one.

    The book is properly synchronized and synchronization options include all options.

    Check your panels styles, paragraph, character and the object with nothing selected. If there is an already established style name, and I think that it would be in the Panel character styles, that's your problem.

  • I have 2 different styles for the reference numbers and the reference text?

    Hello

    I have a document with a lot of notes.

    I would attribute all reference to a character style numbers and all of the text in a different character style.

    For example, I would like to have numbers in bold and black, while the reference in light and dark grey text.

    Doing this manually is not an option of course.

    Is this possible?

    If this is not the case, is there scripts out there that can control it?

    Thank you

    Federico

    It's easy to do.

    1. A Style of Chyaracter for the reference number of the ridge.
    2. Implement the paragraph for the reference text Style.
      1. Go to the nested Styles section
      2. Select the character Style
      3. Apply it to the first separator symbol specified (as tabulator) you chose when you set up your notes.
    3. Use it. It will apply automatically. Of course, you must choose the paragraph Style reference in the Set Up parameters of reference from the Type menu.
  • Problem with creating numbered lists the paragraph style...

    I have a numbered list, using "bullets and numbers" paragraph style But I don't know how to get the numbering to work properly.

    If I set the "mode" to "continue from previous" mode, whenever I use this paragraph style continuous numbering since the last issue of the previous list using this style.

    If I put the 'mode' for ' start in ' a number, say '1', then all numbers in the list are this number.

    I want that each list is independent of the final list. The only thing I can understand is to create a new paragraph for each list style, but which does not seem a good way to go.

    I have been exploring for some time but have not been able to understand this.

    Place the cursor inside your paragraph of the list where you want than to restart numbering.

    Choose from the menu:

    Type > bulleted & numbered lists > restart page numbering.

    Thank you for sending the files. One of the files does not contain any character or paragraph Styles. In the other, I see the character styles named as paragraph styles. All indications from within the file are that they were created as character styles. The file format includes indications of the type of the style as well on everything that they are applied and in the list displayed in the palette. All of these styles are indicated by styles of characters in both places. The attributes that are in the styles are limited to what is allowed in a character style.

    In some places where the styles are applied, they are applied to the blocks of text or widget and replacements parts for paragraph-level attributes (i.e. h1 tag, space before and after, etc.). This leads me to suspect that they have can be created from blocks of text pointer tool selections (or other elements of text in widgets) and it was perhaps accidental that they have created using character Styles where paragraph Styles Panel rather than the Panel?

  • Find and replace paragraph styles?

    Hi all

    I'm building a desktop, Tablet and phone layouts for a site.  What is the the faster/more easier way to change between layouts paragraph styles?  Is there a way find and replace paragraph styles?  If I copy / paste the contents of the desktop version to the version of the Tablet, and I've set up styles for each layout, how to change styles without manually changing each iteration of the style?

    Example: I paragraph title book BookHdr styles and BookHdrTablet is it possible for me to automate changing all instances of BookHdr in BookHdrTablet?

    Thank you very much, Barbara

    There is no way to override the styles heavily; You can, however, change the styles of multiple objects by shift-click to select.

  • In FrameMaker 9.0.3 and 9.0.4, I can't define for a style tab stops in the paragraph Designer.

    In FrameMaker 9.0.3 and 9.0.4, I can't define for a style tab stops in the paragraph Designer. Here are the steps to a malfunction:

    1. in paragraph Designer, tab stops, click on change. Change the tab stop dialog box opens and the paragraph Designer, dialog box closes.

    2. Enter the value in the box of the new Position.

    3. click on continue. Shut the box edition of the tab stop.

    4. open paragraph Designer. Without tab is saved.

    Discussion on a similar problem occurred on this forum in June 2010. At this time, the resolution seems to be upgraded to 9.0.3. Has anyone else encountered this problem with these versions?

    Thank you.

    Try dragging the Panel Designer paragraph off the coast of the toolbar on the side, so she is floating independently, as for example in older versions of FM. Now, try to set the tab stops.

  • Select decimal between numbers and replace with comma - style Grep

    H,

    Could someone please help with some Grep expressions.

    I have a big document (s) I need to locate all decimals between numbers and replace them with commas. I have a little grep expression that can locate the numbers and a decimal number, but I need to follow the numbers once again, as I am also find figures at the end of a sentence:

    To find:

    22.356

    so far:

    \d+(?=\.)

    replace:

    \d+(?=\,)

    Lister

    This should work for you

    To find

    (\d+)\. (\d+)

    Replace

    $1, $2

    That there are numbers with a period between them. The expression of replacement will replace your numbers by themselves and the period with a comma. Because the search expression is looking for numbers on both sides of your period, it will leave the ends of sentences only.

  • Links style - CSS, specificity and contradictory statements

    Hello:

    I have difficulties to comb my links in a page template / I'm trying.  The problem comes from the need of links to style differently based on their intended use.  In fact, there are 3 types of links used in this page.  The first is the horizontal navigation Spry 2.0 (worms. 1.0) which works as expected.

    However, I have a general set of links that are used for general navigation of the site (between pages) and outside pages.  There is a second link should appear on every page and is rendered as a link traditional button with an attached background image.  This should allow the visitor to move back between the various subsites based on the preferred language.  These are located in an id defined as 'lang_switch' and style accordingly.

    The problem is that in some browsers (Firefox mainly) the highest degree of specificity granted to links within the lang_switch id are applied across the page for all links.  It is originally links acquire background images and to conform to other specifications in their assets or focus States.

    It is confusing to me.  I'm not an expert on CSS, but it's my understanding that the General links were from the containing element or the body which is higher than the order defined by the lang_switch ID.  It is my understanding that styles don't 'flow upward"heir to the ancestor selectors.  I realize that my use of the terminology of my being somewhat overlooked, but I think my point is clear.

    I would be interested in any help in terms of this problem, but more broadly to understand why this has happened.  I have consulted some of the basic texts on CSS (Meyer, Budd, etc.) and thought that I was understanding of the concepts, but obviously my understanding has missed the boat.  That's why I'd appreciate it if anyone can point to another (one or more) of resources that could help clarify these questions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Webster.

    This is probably the cause of the problem: you have to declare #mainContent in front of each State:

    Not like this:

    #mainContent a: hover, a: active, a: {emphasis
    text-decoration: none! important;
    color: #CD3728! important;
    }

    But like this: (you need not - important!)

    #mainContent a: hover, #mainContent a: active #mainContent, a: {emphasis
    text-decoration: none;
    color: #CD3728;
    }

  • Find/change the question numbers and create the Table of contents

    Hello! I need help to find all my item numbers and apply a paragraph style so I can use them to create a Table of contents page.

    The sample numbers

    #12345

    #12345-5

    #12345-20

    #12345-ABC

    #12345/N

    I tried to enter #^? ^ ? ^ ? ^ ? ^ ? in the search/replace and but it is exactly 5 characters after the sign #. I wonder if you can find all characters starting by # and up until the last characters.

    Once I found all item numbers, how can I apply the paragraph style to have these characters after the sign #? Because I only want to show item numbers without the # sign on the Table of contents/Index page.

    In addition, I have InDesign CS2, which have no function GREP maybe I can do this without the GREP?

    I really appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

    Are your numbers by themselves in a separate paragraph? OTHERWISE you can not USE the table of contents feature to list all the numbers.

    If are, then just look at # in find/replace, then set it to change formatting a new paragraph style (you must create this style in CS2) that you want to include in the table of contents, then as you say, you can use find/replace once more on the history of the TOC to remove the # of all numbers.

  • Using the numbering of the paragraph.

    Hi guys

    Just wondering if there is a way in the application of the numbering in the paragraph styles to choose a format that does not have a full stop after the number

    That is to say current the number reads

    1. say hello

    2. say goodbye

    3 Hello again

    I would just have

    1. say hello

    2 Say goodbye

    3 Hello again

    Thanks for your thoughts

    I have an Applescript script to format all the tables in a document as I want.  It is adapted from a previous version that did not use styles, that works perfectly.  This script creates styles if they are not present and this bit works fine, but when it starts to try to apply them to the tables, it falls.

    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS4"
         tell active document
              set BlackColor to color "Black"
              set SolidStroke to stroke style "Solid"
         end tell
         tell active document
              try
                   set myTablePara to paragraph style "4.2 Table text"
              on error
                   set myTablePara to make paragraph style with properties {name:"4.2 Table text", applied font:"Helvetica Neue", font style:"Regular", point size:"8.5", leading:"10"}
              end try
              try
                   set myBasicCell to cell style "Basic cell"
              on error
                   set myBasicCell to make cell style with properties ¬
                        ¬
                             {name:¬
                                  "Basic cell", bottom edge stroke weight:0 ¬

              try
                   set myTableStyle to table style "Horizon"
              on error
                   set myTableStyle to make table style with properties {name:¬
                        "Horizon", body region cell style:¬
                        myBasicCell, header region cell style:¬
                        myHeader, footer region cell style:¬
                        myFooter, left column region cell style:myLeftCol}
              end try
         end tell
         set allTables to every table of every story of active document
         repeat with i from 1 to count of allTables
              set myTable to item i of allTables
              set table style of myTable to myTableStyle
              set properties of cells of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myBasicCell}
              set properties of cells of first column of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myLeftCol}
              set properties of cells of first row of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myHeader}
              set properties of cells of last row of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myFooter}
              set properties of first cell of first row of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myLeftHeader}
              set properties of first cell of last row of myTable to ¬
                   {cell style:myLeftFooter}
              clear cell style overrides
              clear table style overrides
         end repeat
    end tell

    When it is to 'set style table of myTable to myTableStyle' it is said ' impossible to define style table id of the table to text frame id page id 220 190 of spread id 185 [the first table] document \"Untitled-1\" table style id 264 [style newly generated] document \"Untitled-1\" 224 "  But I can't tell why.  Can anyone help?

    Table and cell styles are objects. When you want to apply, you must set the appropriate properties that are 'applied the style of table"and"cell style ". So: «the game applied style table myTable...» »

    But in terms of results, you'll be probably happier using the commands ' apply the style of table cell / ' instead, which allows you to clear the replacements.

  • Numbers and missing Pages

    Applications Pages and Numbers is missing from my MacBook Pro.  What can I do to find or to reload these applications.

    Gary 12/02/16

    If you are still on the Mountain Lion, then you deal in two scenarios:

    1. You purchased and downloaded Pages ' 09 and Numbers ' 09 the OS X App store before the fall of 2013.
    2. You have installed the iWork ' 09 DVD retail

    If point 1 and if you have a Time Machine backup that contains these applicatiions autonomous, then by all means, just to restore them. Otherwise, visit the OS X App Store purchases tab and see if there are entries for these older applications. If this isn't the case, then it is unlikely that it remains available in to redownload of the OS X App Store, Apple withdrew long products. You can try the installation/download to reinstall these applications to Mountain Lion, but he may scold you v5.6.1 and numbers 3.6.1 pages being incompatible.

    If the point 2, then you need to reinstall in iWork ' 09 DVD retail, then followed with updated Apple iWork 9.3 (gets you updated to v4.3 Pages, Numbers and Keynote 5.3 v2.3). That update Apple is only used with iWork ' 09 DVD applications. If your version of Mac OS X is more recent than your indicated Mountain Lion, this paragraph is so how you get Pages ' 09 and Numbers ' 09 return, including on El Capitan.

    If your signature is old, and you are eager to get some Pages and Numbers v3 v5 release, then things get more interesting:

    1. Versions of pages and Numbers or less 5.2.2 and 3.2.2 are limited to the Mavericks, and these are now unavailable from the OS X App Store.
    2. The current versions on the App Store (v5.6.1 Pages, v3.6.1) now require that OS X 10.10.4). or later, or they install on the OS X App Store
      1. If you are on OS X 10.10.4 or later, sign in the OS X App Store and on the purchases tab, reinstall the Pages and Numbers.
