  Hello all, I need help here.

  I have a Satellite C660 - 26G, 2 days and a USB key has been removed from the laptop while he was working, and I think that caused a kind of corruption.

  This means that the drivers and Toshiba tools are not released to win 8.1.

  I have other thread wrote you that you have installed VAP.
  This is false because VAP don t exist to win 8.1
  Toshiba system driver is the successor of the VAP in case you use Win 8.1

  I think that you question appears because you just used and installed the incompatible software.

  Its been 10 days since I brought my Satellite C660 - series laptop.

  Fn + F6 or Fn + F7 keys for brightness control do not work. I see no change in brightness. There is no information or indication of the setting shown on the display.

  Can anyone suggest an alternative to set the brightness of the screen?

  Other keys FN + Fx work correctly?
  You can change the display brightness by using the power management option?

  I have a portable Satellite C660 is only a couple months unused and too expensive. I turned it on the other day, but the screen is completely blank. The laptop makes sounds 'beeps '. One, fairly high long beep, followed by two beeps in burst but the same height. This cycle occurs every 30 seconds or more. It's okay if it is plugged in or running on the battery, the results are the same. I also noticed that the machine does is not that warm.   Only the difference can be a salesman or the brightness to level 8.

  The reason for overheating is the dust that blocks the fan for laptop gets hotter

  I recommend to clean using a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. You can do it without disassembling the computer so it is very easy and takes only 5 minutes.
  Just remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter before doing this.

  For example I clean my laptop every 4 months because a lot of dust is coming so it s worth it.
